RFP for BOBJ reporting

Dear BOBJ experts,
I am preparing the technical RFP for BI reporting, so does anyone have similar document?
Thanks in advance,
Best Regards,

Hello Slavisa,
Did you manage to find an RFP template/sample for BOBJ BI?
If yes could you kindly share it?

  • BOBJ 4.0 Upgrade: Impact on Int Kit customizations for crystal reports?

    BW Version 7.01
    BOBJ version XI 3.1
We would like to upgrade to BOBJ 4.0, could anyone provide input on these questions?
1 - Can we keep BW 7.01, or do we need to look into upgrading to 7.3?   We'd prefer to not touch bw now.  If we move to bobj 4.0, does BW need to be touched?
2 - We have modified these function modules in BW (i believe they are part of the integration kit in SAP BW) to meet end user requirements for crystal reports; will crystal reports in BOBJ 4.0 still work with these?  I believe one of the improvements is that these aren't used anymore for performance reasons???
    BAPI_MDPROVIDER_GET_VARIABLE
    BAPI_MDDATASET_CREATE_OBJECT
    BAPI_MDDATASET_GET_AXIS_DATA
    BAPI_MDPROVIDER_GET_MEMBERS
    BAPI_MDPROVIDER_GET_MEMBERS
3 - 99% of our reports are crystal, are there any other hurdles or reasons why we should be cautious moving to 4.0?  We are looking to roll out explorer, webi, and xcelsius and would rather go ahead and catch up to 4.0...
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Hi,
    1. i'd recommend having a seperate BW for BI4 purposes.  If anything, it makes management of integration TRANSPORTs much easier, given that you can only have 1 version active..
(yes, although there's no SAP IK Kit, transports are still imported into backend)
    2. OLAP BAPI access is still there in BI4.0,  namely for the CR 2011 tool with BW MDX Driver , and for Webi documents using the legacy Universe Design Tool  OLAP.unv file.
the new OLAP data access driver for SAP in BI4.0 is the BW's BI Consumer Service (BICS API). The function modules for this are generally  called: BICS_PROV_GET*
    3.  No hurdle at all.  You can migrate your content as-is without fear of change.  that's principally why the CR 2011 client is there for the 4.0 RTC - for adoption and onboarding.  That legacy CR client technology is wholy unchanged, apart from .xlsx support and a 'read only' save mode.
the Crystal for Enterprise product is still playing catch up. It hasn't got all (any) of the direct drivers you would expect from crystal, but it can consume the new .unx common semantic layer and the BICS jco driver (neither of which the CR2011 product can)
... as of 4.1 (Q1 2012) the fit-gap in features is answered. i.e. they've all been fwd ported.
    i hope this helps

  • BW hierarchies issue with BOBJ Reporting tools

    Hi All,
    Brief about the requirement:
Our client was using Mainframe and other tools for their reporting. Now as they have planned to go for SAP, purchased SAP BW 7 and SAP BOBJ XI 3.1 for warehouse and reporting purposes.
Initial Road map planned for implementation was
o     to use Crystal for operational and formatted reporting
o     to use WebI for Ad hoc and interactive reporting
o     to use Xcelsius for Dashboards
Once we started analysing the requirements, we observed that client requires hierarchies extensively for reporting and they donu2019t want to compromise in that for reporting. At this situation we have explored the options and came to know from the SAP sites that BO got limitations in case of BW hierarchies. But we not able to articulate the what is the exact issue. Is it with only WebI or Crystal also?
What we have articulated is we cannot report the hierarchies in BO in terms of nodes - > Sub nodes -> sub nodes instead we can do as fixed columns. Please add me if i am missing anything else.
And also please let us know options. Options that we were thinking are Implement with BO XI 3.1 considering Advanced analysis tool then upgrade to BO XI 4.1.
Please suggest us, what is the BW & BO hierarchy issue and right tools to use.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Bala

Our client uses XI 3.2 but is experiencing issues with Hierarchical BEX queries returning blanks - the mdx is fine - just webi that seems to have a problem and I'm also trying to determine in exactly which instances this occurs.
XI 4.x supposedly resolves mots issues but here again details are not known.
I.e. hopefully someone can point to an info source that describes in more detail what issues are likely to occur re hierarchies and webi.

  • BOBJ reporting on spread sheet and BeX Query

    Hi,
We have a BOBJ 4.0 report currently reporting on the SAP data (Developed on BeX query). The historical data (3 years old- 13 MB) for this report is provided in Excel.  Is it possible to have one report that reports both the excel data and the BeX query data.?
    Thanks.

    Hi Vinothini,
With BOBJ 4.0 this is very much possible to create webi reports on mulitple data sources.
Use Webi Rich Client to create report on Excel ,
Create a BICS (BEx connection) to your BEx query for report on your BEx Data.
Use both the Data sources as two queries in your Webi. You can merge them accordingly.

  • Portal - BEx and BOBJ reporting layout

    Gurus,
Lets say we have 2 kind of reporting community
    1)BEx (existing 2009 golive)
    2)BOBJ (2010 go live)
If both this reports need to be rendered on the portal ,what are the options available ??
do we need to separate both of this reports as the security  is different for both ,how do we make it transparent for users to have single place and tree to report on?
    Thanks

    Ingo ,thanks.
From the content and SSO standpoint we are clear.
But my question was more from look and feel standpoint, how will the user see both the reports will it be 2 Ivews separated
    1)Bex Reports
        HR
        FI
    2)BOBJ reports
       HR
       FI
I understand based on individual security settings they will get the access ,but wanted to know how the layout will look.
    thanks

    Hi,
You can try use the hyperlink in WebI to call SAP ITS.
For example, you want to use the data of the WebI report as a parameter to call a transaction in SAP, you can try this kind of hyperlink URL:
    http://SERVER:PORT/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui/?sap-client=CLIENT&sap-user=USER&sap-password=PASSWORD&transaction=TCODE&%TABLEFIELD%=FIELDVALUE&OKCODE=/00
    May it's helpful.

  • Install configuration for Crystal Reports Viewer 2011

    Hi,
Is there any way to configure the defaults for Crystal Reports Viewer 2011 as part of the installation routine?
    Specifically we would like to:
    1. Switch off the attempt (on launch) to make an internet connection for community resources
    2. Hide the side bar unless the user actually goes into the view menu to turn it on.
There's various reasons for this, but mostly it's that to get an internet connection the application has to go through the proxy server - we would rather that sort of activity was instigated by the end user on demand, not an application automatically, not least in this case because the license agreement window seems to be set to force itself to the 'front', which covers the proxy server prompt, so we can't write a script to provide automatic authentication without user intervention. It would be far better if there was a way to simply switch off this feature - and at the same time set the default 'view' settings to hide the side bar in the first place.

    Hi,
Do you mean the Standalone Crystal Reports Viewer 2008: http://www.sap.com/solutions/sapbusinessobjects/sme/reporting/viewer/index.epx
If you do then you can perform a slient install by following the instructions from the release notes:
    http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/crv2008/en/xi3-1_crviewer_release_en.pdf
Those notes are provided from this webpage:

  • BOBJ report failed in SAP 6.0.   "/CRYSTAL/OSQL_EXECUTE".*. short dump in S

We have a set of crystal reports that run correctly in SAP4.6C. During the upgarde, we are unable to run any report against the new sap 6.0 but the same report run correctly against SAP4.6C. Whenever we run the bobj report, a short dump is created in SAP ECC6.0 as follow:
    Information on where terminated
Termination occurred in the ABAP program "/CRYSTAL/OSQL_EXECUTE" - in
         "START-OF-SELECTION".
The main program was "/CRYSTAL/OSQL_EXECUTE ".

We are using BOBJ XI SP2. SAPGUI 6.2. SAP ECC6.0 SERVER. The following sets of transports from BOBJ integration kit SP4 have been imported into SAP.
    Open SQL Connectivity transport
    Row-level security definition transprot
    cluster definition transport
    Infoset Connectivity transport
    Authenticaton helpers tranport
BOBJ support has been unable to help so far..

Roland, we tried using the IP address to connect and create report and the same short-dump still occurs. We also applied BOBJ SP4 and it still didn't help. Please let us know if you have other thoughts. Thank you.
Here is a snapshot of the sap short-dump.

  • Q: BOBJ reports in SAP Enterprise Portal?

    Hi,
We want to be able to access Business Objects reports (Crystal Reports and WebIntelligence Reports) via the SAP Enterprise Portal. The integration between SAP BI and BOBJ is completed, and we can create WebI and CR reports based on our SAP queries, but we have not been able to understand how to publish the reports in the portal.
Does anybody have any idea of how to publish these reports (for instance if it is possible to create a direct link to the report in InfoView)?
    Any help appreciated,
    Thank you in advance,
    Mikael

    Hi Mikael,
this is the quick (URL iView) but not the recommended (BOBJ iView Template) way:
    1. Log on the BOBJ InfoView, locate your report and look at its properties. Write down its CUID.
    2. Go into the SAP Portal and create a new URL iView using following URL
http://<name of bobj web server:port of boboj web server>/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?sIDType=CUID&iDocID=<CUID of your report>
    Regards,
    Stratos
NOTE: The openDocument URL works for BOBJ XI 3.x installations with Tomcat. Please look in the documentation about the syntax if you are using IIS.

  • SAP BI tools for FI reports

    Hello everybody,
I am SAP FICO consultant but new to SAP BI. I have a requirement that uses BI tools to create FI reports and I need to give functional specs. Can anyone give me general guideline to do that? More specifically, I have following questions:
    1. I Names of SAP BI tools that are used for SAP FI reporting.
    2. Can anyone also send me material / links to the readings that could help understand creating functional specs for such reports?
    3. It would also tremendously help me if anyone can tell me the difference between functional specs for ABAP reports Vs. BI reports. I have worked on ABAP functional specs but not on BI reports.
    Thank you,

    >
    1. you'll need to extract data into BW, so you'll need to set up a Data Model for FI; then depending on which kind of reports, you'll need BEx Query Designer, BEx Analyzer, Report Designer, Web Application Designer or any of the BOBJ tools (or external party tools)
    2. /
    3. I personally would be fine with ABAP specs... basically what one needs to know is which data you wish to see in what format and how that data can be found in the source system... if calculations are necessary, those have to be delivered as well
Important is to determine the granularity of data

  • How to Save Multiple Variants for a Report at a time?

    Hi Experts,
I have a report in one server and I have copied the same into another server.
And now I also have to copy the variants of that report.
There are totally 192 variants for the report. So, is there any easier way to copy all those variants for the new report that I have created, rather than re-creating the variants one-by-one manually.
Note:There is no connection to both the servers. So I cannot transport them.
    Thanks in advance.

Basis can do a export and import transport, still if don't have connection between boxes.
    or

  • How to get period date of for a given month from a given date in mdx for SSRS report (mm/dd/yyyy)

I have a situation,  where i need to write expression Period to date(PTD). i want to know how to get the period date. i want you to help in writing Period date or else is there any function to get period date for a given date(the  date is given
from the parameter dynamically) in MDX for SSRS report
    ram

    Hi ram,
Per my understanding that you want to get the period date based on the month selected and the given date, right?
Could you please provide details information below to help us better understanding your requirements, thus we will be more effective to provide an solution:
What is the format of the period date you want to get, is this date in the DB and you want to filter it based on the month and the given Date?
Did the month and given date are two parameters in the report? if possible, could you please provide some sample data in the DB and also the snapshot of the report structure
I assume you want to get the period date(mm/dd/yyy) between the select month(e.g:Feb) and the given date (10/1/2014) and you should get the date between(02/01/2014-10/1/2014).
If so,and you also have two parameter "Month","EndDate"(EndDate is the given date), please reference to details information below:
You can create an new parameter "BeginDate" (Date/Time) which is the begin date of the period, you can use the expression to get the value based on the value of the month and the year value from the given date, finally hide this parameter:
    Specify the available value:
    Label:=Parameters!Month.Value &"/01/"& DatePart("yyyy",Parameters!EndDate.Value)
    Value:=CDate(=Parameters!Month.Value &"/01/"& DatePart("yyyy",Parameters!EndDate.Value))
    Specify the default Value:
    Value:=CDate(=Parameters!Month.Value &"/01/"& DatePart("yyyy",Parameters!EndDate.Value))
Add filter to the dataset as below:
Preview you will get all the date in the given Period:
If you still have any problem, please feel free to ask.

  • Checkboxes in BI Publisher not showing up for all reports

    Hi everyone,
I followed the instructions (uploading fonts, checking the checkbox font property e.t.c) for displaying checkboxes (without the diamond shape) in my BI Publisher reports. It worked for 1 report and still does. Unfortunately the new reports I have uploaded still display the diamond shape. I find this very odd even though followed exactly the same process for all of my reports.
Is there a way to make sure that checkboxes display properly for all reports? Could there be a mistake I have made and that I am missing out on. Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Have you set the properties as per
    http://blogs.oracle.com/xmlpublisher/2007/05/wherere_my_checkboxes.html
    especially
    1. The font location, we need to tell the publisher engine where the Wingdings font is located:
    <font family="Wingdings" style="normal" weight="normal">
    <truetype path="c:\windows\fonts\wingding.ttf"/>
    </font>
    2. The glyphs to be used. Here we specify the font family name ie 'Wingdings' and the 253/254 glyphs
    <property name="rtf-checkbox-glyph">Wingdings;253;254</property>
Do ensure that you use the same glyph character codes defined in ur config and RTF
