RG54GS print server problem, different this time
I juts bought a new rg54gs Gateway..
It works fine, except the print server.. When i plug in the usb cable and turn the printer on, the gateway starts to reboot over and over and over until i turn the printer off.. All the lights blink on and off as well.
Is my rg54gs defective?
Has anyone had similar problems?
The printer is Canon S830D.
install the lastest driver of the printer.

I can not import photos into lightroom 4.4 Had no problem before this time.
I can not import photos into lightroom 4.4 Had no problem before this time. I have camera raw7.4 and use a NikonD7100. I have a Mac using 10.6.8. I can see the images and selected for import in Lightroom, but after I check "import" I get a message that Lightroom could not read the files. This happens with both raw and jpeg files. Thanks for a repl
thanks for the reply. would you please tell me how to check for the folder to have write permission. I have done the same settings as before but this time does not transfer. It says can not read files with a code "298". I can see the thumbnails on the screen prior to trying to import the photos, also can see them with the card in the camera and using the view mode. I have up to date camera raw 7.4 for my Nikon D7100 and the settings allow for 7.1 and above

MSI RG54gs print server BIG PPROBLEM!
hi,
i have faced several hours with my new MSI RG54gs router trying to put my X75 Lexmark working but with no sucess....
Also there a couple of messages here in forum that refect the same problem with others users of this product.
Question:?
- Is there any one that haved used the usb print server port of a RG54GS MSI Router?????
Or there´s any technical contact in MSI that we can get more support, because upgrades to the router and to the router driver see not to work, and,....., that´s it,....
thank´s
JoséI just had to right something. Despite what ppl tell u, it is not your printer.
Ijust updated from a d-link 713P to a msi rg54gs. BIG MISTAKE!!!!!!
On the serial print server ob the dlink my printer worked fine, yet i can't get it to work on msi rg54gs. U might say it could be the USB functionality of my printer, well hell no!!!!!! I plugged it staright to my comp and it worked fine. That leaves one thing the gateway.
Now I have seen a lot of threads here for the smae problem. The usb print server is !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whats the deal MSI you could at least release a firmware which rectifies the problem or tell us how to fix the problem. Or even better in future don't sell shitty Faulty products!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please fix the problem!!!!!! Or risk loosing another customer! -

You went to: http://www.apple.com/support/macbook_macbookpro/batteryupdate/ you mentioned.
This time, notice this paragraph:
+If, after you have installed the battery update, your battery has any of the symptoms listed below, please make a reservation to bring your computer with its battery to your local Apple Retail Store, or contact an Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP), or call your local Apple Support Contact Center. If Apple or an AASP determines that your battery is eligible for replacement, you will receive a new battery, free of charge, even if your MacBook or MacBook Pro is out of warranty.+
Can you get to the links to AASP or Apple Support Contact Center and let them know. They can determine that you need a replacement battery and send it to you.

OSX and wireless (third party) print server problems - 'host is busy' again
The setup:
MBP running OSX 10.5.2
Zyxel NSA-220 (with latest firmware) hardwired to a Lynksys wireless router (running Tomato firmware)
Canon PIXMA iP4500 with CUPS+Gutenprint v5.1.7 drivers
I'm trying to set up the NSA as a print server. I can ping the NSA, it shows up fine in finder and I can access the shares on the discs - all wirelessly.
However the Canon setup program can't locate the printer when it tries to align the print heads, so I tried using Print & Fax to set up IP printing, with LPD as protocol and the IP address of the NSA, selecting CUPS drivers rather than the Canon ones.
The issue comes when I try to print and get locked in a 'Network host x.x.x.x is busy' cycle that never ends. I switched from M$ about 12 months and think I'm reasonably computer literate but feel like a mac newbie when problems like this hit. Grateful for any advice.I helped another postee with a SimpleShare NAS. Reading the user documentation for the device, it showed the Windows connections using smb, ie you simply browse to the device via Network Neighborhood, double-click then select the printer name.
To use smb on the Mac, you select Windows Printing when you add the printer, then browse to the workgroup, then the Zyxel computer name and then the printer share name. Note that if the printer share name has spaces and too many characters, it can cause problems so keep the name short, such as iP4500, and don't have any spaces.
With regards to the current use of LPD as the protocol, this will be the cause of the network busy error as the device probably doesn't support UNIX print services (which btw is what you need to enable on Windows Server if you were to connect the same way).
One final note. The recent Security Update 2008-002 stopped some users from connecting to their current Windows share. One workaround has been to add the user account information into the queue name. This can be done by modifying the view for the Print & Fax Add Printer dialog box, so that the Advanced Printing option appears. Control-click on the icon bar in the Add Printer dialog box and then select Customize then Advanced. Within this selection will be the option to use Windows Printing via SAMBA. This lets you add the printer with all the necessary info, such as the example following.
smb://NSAusername:password@NSA_IPAddress/iP4500
Once you have entered the queue name, you can then browse to the Canon Gutenprint v5.1.7 iP4500 driver.

Hello I'm having a no dns server problem on my time capsule
Hello I'm having this same problem:
Sammy Stefanki
Apr 11, 2012 2:20 PM
Hi everyone,
I just bought a new AirPort Express and Comcast is my ISP. I ditched my old Belkin wireless router, connected the Comcast modem directly to my AirPort Express, and it appears to be working great. I can access the internet wirelessly and also play music using AirPlay through my stereo speakers.
However, when I open the AirPort Utility, the utility tells me that I have two problems with my AirPort Express:
Apparently I have no internet connection (the utility tells me that "Your AirPort base station does not have a valid IP address."), even though I can access the internet just fine.
I don't appear to have any DNS server addresses (the utility tells me that "This AirPort base station doesn't have any DNS server addresses and might have trouble connecting to the internet.")
Does anyone know if these are serious problems that I need to address, or can they be ignored? I don't want to start tinkering with the AirPort Express's settings until I am better informed, because right now everything is working as far as my access to the internet is concerned.
and I tried to :

Anytime you change networking hardware, it is always a good idea to perform a complete power recycle of your networking components.
I would recommend that you do the following as a minimum:
Power-down the modem, AirPort base station, and computer(s).
Disconnect the AirPort base station from the Internet broadband modem.
While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the base station. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref: Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Reconnect the AirPort base station to the Internet broadband modem. For the Extreme and Time Capsule, be sure to connect the cable to the base station's WAN (circle-of-dots) port.
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes to allow it adequate time to initialize.
Power-up the AirPort base station; wait at least 5-10 minutes. Note: The AirPort's status light may continue to flash amber after it has intialized. That is because, there may be some additional configuration items necessary, like setting up wireless security, before the overall setup is completed to get a green status.
Power-up your computer(s).
In this basic configuration, the AirPort base station will broadcast an unsecured wireless network with a Network Name (SSID) of Apple Network NNNNNN. Network clients, connected to the base station either by wire or wireless, should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options. Please post back your results.
BUT NOTHING IT STILL SHOWS NO INTERNET CONNECTON on my capsule and NO DNS SERVER ...
I have tried to HARD RESET it resets ( with a Network Name (SSID) of Apple Network NNNNNN) and it connects to internet, it also says setuo complete in airport utility but once I go back into Airport utily cause Time capsule is still flashing amber it says NO INTERNET CONNECTION and NO DNS SERVER ...
anyone has any suggestions PLEASE and Thank youCheck the Ethernet connection to the AirPort Express. Make sure that the Ethernet connection from the Comcast modem is connected to the WAN port on the back of the AirPort Express. The WAN port is the one with the circle of dots shown over the port.
It sounds like you are connected to the Ethernet LAN port. -
this is really ******* me off
I have taken it back to the Apple store genius bar, but they say they don't see anything wrong. Well unless you use it all day and experience the problems when they happen, you wont see anything wrong. But there are lots wrong with it. But this would be the same store as I purchased the phone. And they backed up my old Iphone 4, but were not able to get anything to load back onto my new phone. So, I lost pretty much everything. But over time, some of my contacts have started showing up, although i am still missing over 800 of them.

I am on this page http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/http:// There is a nice looking, but apparently useless box that has "download now" printed on it. When I do, mysteriously, nothing happens. How do I overcome this? There has to be a way to download your product, I'm just not sure how to do it since the "downlaod now" button is not it.
Try downloading the offline installers:
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
Flash Player (Mac OS X)
Regarding your forum posting problems; everybody here hates this forum software! -
My Facebook app froze so I deleted it and reinstalled it. I've done this several times in the past with no problems. This time, the app store says it's installed, but there is no icon. I can't delete it again, because there is no icon to delete and the app store has it listed as installed. The updates page says it is updated. I have shut my iPad down completely and restarted with no luck. I don't know what else to try. Suggestions?
Try resetting your device. Hold down the power button and the Home button on your iPad, ignore the slide to power off message, continue to hold both buttons until you see the white Apple logo. After it restarts try download the Facebook app again.

System.printing font problem with numbers
I hope I'm putting this question in the correct forum as the issue covers a lot of ground.
I have a C#.net 4 web service on an IIS 7.5 box (call it box 1) that creates XPS documents and stores them in an SQL database.
I have a second C# .net 4.5 (tried .net 4 too and it makes no difference)web service on a separate box (box 2) that pulls documents out the database and sends them to print server queues on separate boxes, say this is box 3, using System.Printing which
is pretty bog standard code except for the XML tray designation code.
This works and the documents are rendered correctly except...
If the font installed on box 1 (IIS 7.5 on server 2008 R2) that is used to create the documents is also installed on box 3 (Times New Roman for example on the print server which is also server 2008 R2) then the documents text comes out
in Times New Roman as you would expect, but any numbers within that text come out in some unknown bold san serif font (e.g abcde
12345). If I put a text character directly in front of a number it renders correctly.(e.g abcde x12345) If the font isn't installed on box 3 then it comes out correctly, numbers and all. If I print the documents from XPS viewer
then they print correctly. The font versions makes no difference. I've tried changing the printer settings (print directly, advanced feature off, client rendering etc) and this makes no difference. The documents are properly formatted right down to each
paragraph now (trying to get rid of this problem) and still it persists.
This issue only appears if both boxes have the same font and you are printing from code.
I've got around the problem by using an equivalent Linux TTF that'll never appear on both servers, but I'd love to know where this problem is. Any takers on answering this?Hi Ghost...
If you're talking about the Linux TTF, it works just fine, unfortunately it's not an exact match, so in order to get Times New Roman to work as advertised I might have to put some rather "dubious" code in, i.e. hunt down any text that "starts with"
number or find space + 0-9 and then stick an "i" in front in white..that sort of "dubious" thing.
The Time New Roman problem (and other fonts that are on both the IIS 7.5 box where the documents are created and the print servers where they are spooled) is quite baffling.
These are examples of the issue.
2 people went to market...the text comes out in Times, the number comes out in some bold san serif.
I went to the market on 12/12/2012 to see some pigs...shows the same problem
I went .2 the market on .12/12/2012......shows the same problem
I went t2 the market on i12/12/2012...all renders as Times.
In a nutshell, if the char preceeding the number is a-z the numbers are rendered correctly, otherwise they come out as bold san serif.
If I use, say for example Garamond (which isn't on the print server) then the whole everything renders correctly in Garamond. Same thing with all other fonts I tried. if both are on both servers then you get the problem. We have a mix of printers from
various manufacturers hanging off the print servers and the same thing happens on all of them so it's not a printer driver problem.
Everything renders correctly from a print out from the XPS viewer.
The exact architecture is that browser Ajax requests are fired at the doc builder service on an IIS box which builds the documents, puts them in an SQL database as byte arrays and returns success. Depending on the user's location and printer
spec, a new Ajax request is then sent to another IIS box (which is either local or remote to a print server) to print out the documents on location specific printers. The reason for doing it this way was to avoid Kerberos issues that would occur in a double
hop to a remote print server. Note: this is not my domain and I have no control over maintenance, but a Kerberos failure would result in badness, so it's been avoided. Therefore jobs that don't need an exact user, use a domain app pool account and jobs that
do require a specific user go to a service on the print server. Either way the same issue arises.
I though the problem was with my code, but the MS example XPS documents show the same issue.
XPS creation is by GemBox.Document from docx templates and Gembox saw the same issue on their servers when I brought this problem up with them. They put a fix in that partially resolved the matter from their standpoint, but it didn't make any difference
in my architecture.

11.1.2 print server installation
Hi All,
I wonder if anyone has had experience of installing 11.1.2 in a primarily Solaris environment.
For our installation - everything seems to be going quite well apart from getting PDF's from financial reports.
Since the print server needs to run on Windows - we have installed it in Windows Server 2003 and gone through the configuration. However when running a report in PDF, workspace shows the loading message forever and never returns a PDF. It is fine in HTML.
Our environment is:
Solaris 10 VM for foundation services - running Shared Services, Workspace and APS.
Solaris 10 VM for essbase - running just Essbase.
Solaris 10 VM for reporting services - running EAS, Essbase Studio, Web Analysis, Financial Reporting, Reporting and Analysis
Windows Server 2003 VM for the Financial
Looking at the logs give some clues that there are attempts to access non existent files and I believe I know the problem is where I configured the R&A repository directory on the server which for the both installs was local. On the unix install some of these errors are looking at paths to a C: drive (i.e. the print server install location). It looks like I need to configure both to the same location.
So the advice I'm after is:
- should I setup a unix share through Solaris and try and get the print server to access this
- or should I setup a windows share and get both services to access this also.
Or is there any other way to do this. The install guide is quite vague about the repository location.
Cheers,
DanHi, dlclarke
I have a similar scenario here and also can't get the PDF output with 11.1.2. Right the same symptom and a very similar environment.
One of the servers is a Linux 64bits with Essbase, WA, RA Framework, Foundation, Financial Reporting (except print server). The other is a VM with Windows 2008 64bits and ghoscript 8.63 32 bits with the Print Server.
The Print Server is configured but when you open a financial reporting as PDF it becames loading and loading forever. The output of the Print Server is:
Financial Reporting Print Server started successfully.

Was your problem appeared to mine? Is it needed to create a folder share between both hosts?
Another thing, in what log files had you found errors looking for a C: drive path?
Thank you in advance.
