RGB from VGA for feed into TV
I did read the posted discussions on this but couldn't find what I need to know. Hopefully I didn't miss anything.
I am new to macs and have just bought one for use as a media server (to play divx and audio). Ok its really just to play with because its cool.
I have a Philips matchline CRT 100Hz TV (32PW9534) and a mini 1.4MH mac. I have tried the s-video adaptor from Apple and am not overly impressed with the result. It does work but at all resolutions other than one (PAL 7..x576 with no overscan and not best for video) where 7.. is the one up from 720. I get occasional (every second) flickering at the top left of the screen. There is one NTSC resolution that works as well. The edge of the picture seems to jump away from the boarder of the tube. The picture is as good as I would expect using s-video which is just usable at the above working resolution. Has anyone else seen this or know what I might try to fix it? That’s not my main question....
The thing I want to do is to use the mac's VGA output with some external circuit to produce a SCART RGB feed. The circuit to do this is simple since all that is required is to mix the horizontal & vertical syncs from VGA to a combined sync for SCART. From experience I know that moving to RBG will make a big difference even though it is still a TV signal.
However to do this successfully needs the video card to be configured to output an appropriate interlaced signal even though it is connected to what looks like a VGA monitor.
So how can I make this happen? When I plug in the s-video adaptor the mac recognised it has s-video attached and presents only PAL and NTSC interlaced resolutions for use which is what I want. Are the VGA signals disabled when the s-video adaptor is plugged in? How does the mac know that an s-video adaptor is plugged in? Are there pins to load/short to trick it? Could it damage my TV if I accidentally drive it at 1280x1024@85Hz?

Personally, I would export as a movie, using the MS DV-AVI type of export. Set the Audio to PCM 16/48, unless you have bought the SurCode Dolby Digital encoder.
When you import this into Encore, it will give you much better control over where you place chapter points and additionally Encore will - if you let it - use automatic transcoding for the final MPEG-2 compresssion.
The reason I suggest this is because MPEG-2 encoding is every much an art form as the filming, editing & cutting process and major studios employ people who do nothing other than encoding. It is
i unbelievably
easy to create an MPEG-2 stream that is not DVD-Video compliant.
Don't use progressive, stick to interlaced.
Progressive scan modes open up whole cans of worms.....

In addition to what Thierry mentioned you could also use the C4C integration via standard Operational Data Provisioning (ODP) interfaces. This integration was acutally built for SAP BW and allows you to access any C4C data sources. From my perspective you can also build upon that for a native SAP HANA integration. Please also have a look at this guide: How To... load SAP Business Suite data into SAP... | SAP HANA.
Besides that question let me also add the following: SAP Cloud for Customer already runs on SAP HANA since Nov. 2013. You may also use the powerful built-in analytics within C4C for analyzing data and any of your reporting demands. If your report should consider external data as well, you can combined the existing C4C data source with an external, so-called Cloud Data Source. I am unable to copy text from Word (for Mac) into Safari. It doesn't seem to be recognizing that I am copying a selection of text from a word document. As when I try to paste, nothing happens. Is there a way around this?

sorry for the late late reply but I didn't notice your answer.
Here are my answers:
(1) I monitored the behaviour on the CRM system, CRM 7.0, SP5
(2) The change should be implemented in the CRM system
(3) Deactivate buffering for scenarios marketing, sale and service via SM30 and table T770MATTR.
By doing this the initial load of 3.2 million business agreements took around 2 hours, with activated scenario buffering I was at least ten times slower.
After the initial load you have to activate the buffering again.
Interesting to know would be why the scenario buffering only affects the initial load of business agreements and no other object. As far as I know the scenario buffering is relevant for the organizational management.

Export movie from Premiere for import into Encore
I created an animation in 3D Studio MAX and rendered it to sequential stills for compositing in Premiere Pro 1.5. I want to export it out so it's ready for inport into Encore 2.0. I understand that Encore compresses it to MPEG-2 format while it is building the DVD. What is the best CODEC to use exporting it OUT of Premiere to get the best quality out of Encore DVD? Do I use Adobe Media Encoder or would AVI or QT give me better quality once Encore crunches it since AVI and QT are not as compressed as MPG? If AVI or QT is better, which CODEC works best Sorenson 3, Cinepak, Indeo...? Does Encore 2.0 offer VBR 2 pass?
Also, This DVD will be primarily played off of a PC so is "Progressive" the default out of Encore or is "Interlaced" From what I read, progressive is for computers and Interlace is for TV. Is that correct?
I've been reading some of the Adobe Primers on Encoding video, wow that stuff is deep...... Some what little to deep and a little too confusing.

How: poll POP3 from ISP and feed into OSX mail server (Dovecot)
Hi all,
My desire: use IMAP for all my iOS and OSX devices to forget about the synchronization nightmare when using POP.
My ISP only provides POP3, and I can fetch emails from his POP3 server so they end up in my mail client on any OSX workstation.
But I want to use IMAP via the Dovecot email server on OSX server mountain lion.
How do I implement that missing link?
Can this be done by a cron script, mimicking a MTA?
Somehow the OSX mailserver cannot be convinced to fetch the emails from the POP3 server at the Internet Server Provider (ISP).
All the OSX or iOS device connects to my OSX Mountain Lion server running the mailserver (i.e. Dovecot).
In my private network sending emails and fetching them using IMAP already works fine.
I am lost on this one. Any help would be appreciated.

BolkoOne solution is to use a server based software (i.e. that runs on OS X server) which polls a remote POP3 server and delivers mail to an SMTP server — the Postfix SMTP server on your OS X server (NOT Dovecot, Postfix is the SMTP server which then hands off mail to Dovecot the IMAP on your OS X server)
This software would have to be installed 'by hand' meaning you have to download the source and compile it as is standard with Linux type utilities.

You may want to confirm with the package maintainers that this would work on OS X. If you are not comfortable working at the level of installing Linux packages then I would advise not to proceed.
UPDATE: I found this page on the Apple developers website:

it refers to the fetchmail program above so it looks like it runs OK on OS X, but you still have to manually set it up.

Workflow for exporting xml from Excel and importing into table in InDesign
Hello,
I have worked out how to get data from a .xlsx into a table in InDesign. However, the workflow is still a little clunky and I am looking for way to automate the process further. My current workflow is as follows (files can be download here: http://visual360.co.uk/xml.zip)
xml is exported from .xlsx by mapping the schema (see what_I_get.xml)
assign tags to table and individual cells in InDesign
This is the clunky bit: edit the what_I_get.xml to:
remove the indentation (this seems necessary as otherwise when I get to stage 4, all the imported text is also indented)
add tag for table in InDesign (p10_table)
add tags for individual cells (p10_c11 etc.)
import the produced what_I_want.xml in the structure panel of InDesign.
Can anyone point me in the direction of how to automate step 3 above?

Thanks very much for the reply. I am not at all familiar with XSL/XSLT. I have given it a quick google and it seems like it could be quite a steep learning curve to master. Maybe if I explain the whole context here, it may allow you to point me in the direction of a tutorial that provides a step by step approach to achieve my final goal. Alternatively, you may be able to suggest a whole new workflow.

The tables on pages 10-21 contain lots and lots of repeated information. We want the layout to in this format so that each group of students has all the information relevant to them on a single double spread. However, the challenge of using this approach is that it is very high maintenance to ensure the duplicated information is kept in sync - even using a copy / paste approach.
I was hoping to overcome this by using a single source of data (eg. a spreadsheet) which would then feed into the InDesign. This workflow seems to be overcomplicated by the apparent need to use xml as the "middle-man".
Ideally, I would like to press the export button in Excel and get this information into the the correct cells in the tables on pages 10-21 without a significant amount of manual labour - after all, my reasons for investigating an automated approach in the first place was to avoid the manual entering of data ie. the scope for error...
An alternative approach maybe to skip Excel altogether and just use .xml. However, I am not sure that this is possible as Indesign only seems to allow you to import each element once. Maybe you could correct me here...
I am happy to invest a certain amount of time in developing this approach as once it is in place, it will save a huge of proof-reading time year after year, especially as inconsistencies still persist despite our best efforts to weed them out.
If you could let me know your thoughts on this and maybe identify a tutorial that would help me, I would be extremely grateful.

In LR 5.5 (same in previous versions) the RGB values in the histogram are shown in percent (relativ) values. I prefere to see the absolute values, but I can`t find any way to switch. Maybe this option is intentional disabled, because LR works in 16-Bit mode this would result in values up to 2^16. But as i compared the relativ values from LR with the absolute values from PS i run into a conversion problem. The following example shows the differences:
CameraRAW : RGB, 128,0,0
Lightroom: RGB, 43,8%, 19,0%, 6,2%
CameraRAW: RGB, 0,128,0
Lightroom: RGB, 29,8%, 47,5%, 17,5%
Mainly i have two questions:
1. Is there any possibility to change the percent RGB values in LR to absolut values?
2. How can i convert CameraRAW values to LR values (see above)?TThe reason that a design decision was made from the beginning of LR to show only the percentage values was that RGB values are dependent on the color space and the LR histogram and numerical readout are derived from the Develop module's display space which is a hybrid color space with ProPhoto RGB primaries and the sRGB TRC. Thus the numerical values in the display would be different from the exported RGB image (in an orthodox space) and it was feared that this would be misleading. When soft proofing was introduced, because it involved converting the display to an orthodox space, it became possible to use the 0-255 scale in that mode.

I have a question concerning the Office Control UI-Eelement in Web Dynpro for ABAP:
How can I import spreadsheet data from the Office Control into a internal-table?
I have an Excel-sheet (without any data) which is shown initially in the Office Control. First the empty Excel-Sheet will be loaded and in the second step data from an alvxml-transformation will be loaded into the Excel-sheet with the method 'activatexmlsource'. This works so far. When I change the loaded data in the Office Control and save it it will be stored as XLS-File. The problem is that I'm not able to use existing Upload-FM because every function module I tried uses GUI-functions and WebDynpro has no GUI-functionality. I always get the error that data from clipboard cannot be imported.
So now the question is:
How can I import changed data from the Office control into a internal-table staying in Web Dynpro application?
Please give some advice, if you have some useful code or ideas.

Once you save to desktop again you have made some changes to that file, this file you want to upload it right.
Then in that case you need to use the FILEUPLOAD UI element right.

Import Data from Office Control (Web Dynpro for ABAP) into SAP-Table
Hello,
I have a question concerning the Office Control UI-Eelement in Web Dynpro for ABAP:
How can I import spreadsheet data from the Office Control in a SAP-table?
I have an Excel-sheet (without any data) which is shown initially in the Office Control. First the empty Excel-Sheet will be loaded and in the second step data from an alvxml-transformation will be loaded into the Excel-sheet with the method 'activatexmlsource'. This works so far. When I change the loaded data in the Office Control and save it it will be stored as XLS-File. The problem is that I'm not able to use existing Upload-FM because every function module I tried uses GUI-functions and WebDynpro has no GUI-functionality. I always get the error that data from clipboard cannot be imported.
So now the question is:
How can I import changed data from the Office control into a SAP-table staying in Web Dynpro application?
Please give some advice, if you have some useful code or ideas.

Once you save to desktop again you have made some changes to that file, this file you want to upload it right.
Then in that case you need to use the FILEUPLOAD UI element right.
