RGB of PNGs changing in Keynote

The company I work for has a specific branded color that they want to use in presentations, and they wanted a branded keynote. I made all PNGs and text and boxes a certain RGB color (in this case, 146, 200, 62) but then when I view the Keynote on other computers, while the text and the color boxes remain the same, the pngs get noticably altered (119, 210, 48). I have no idea how to keep them from changing. Does anyone else have this problem, because now the presentation appears to have multiple greens when it should have this one branded green.

Also wanted to add, I had tried it on two other computers...the green changes to 134-194-46 on one and 144-201-81 on another. I don't know what's causing the PNGS (I also tried PDF and JPEG, and same changes happen) to change and I just need to know how to keep them from changing values from one computer to the next.

  • When placing a png in indesign the png changes/loses its orginal color.

When placing a png in indesign the png changes/loses its original color. Ex. the very clear blue that I am using turns dark and "dirty". ( my RGB is : 5,125, 255  -  when I type this I get a " out of gamut warning" a little yellow icon. When I click on it indesign automatically changes the RGB into: 67, 117, 187)
I have worked with indesign for 6 years and never experienced this before. I am guessing it has something to due with that the png is in RGB and indesign in cmyk, but I have no idea what to do about it?

Out of Gamut means the color cannot be printed in your current workspaces using CMYK inks. You would see a preview of the converted color if you move into Overprint Preview, use Proof Colors, or there is transparency and the blend space is set to CMYK.
If this is destined for screen use, then the color doesn't matter, but you should be sure the blend space is set to RGB.

How do I delay a picture change in Keynote beyond the 60 seconds allowed in the 'build' it procedure on the same slide?

    BazzyS wrote:
I'm referring to a graphic change within the same slide not transition between slides.
In the suggestion I gave, using a transition instead of a build, has exactly the same visual effect as a build, it just uses a different tool.
in my example earlier, I have 7 coloured objects, the first 6 objects appear using a dissolve build.
The 8th object appears with the same effect, a dissolve, but is delayed by 5 minutes because it uses a dissolve transition.
I used a transition instead of a build which uses 2 slides to achieve the effect, the viewers will not care how many slides there are and what tool is used, its the end result that matters.
first 7 objects appear in a build
a transition set up using a disolve and a delay of 10 minutes
7th object appears with a disolve

  • Planar RGB vs PNG

I work as a VJ (video jockey) which means Im mixing videos in realtime, outputting to several projectors. All my video content have alpha-channel, since Im doing multiple layers. I found that Planar RGB runs much smoother on my new macbook pro 8gb quadcore than PNG. But what does it mean that Planar RGB is a legacy codec? It wont be getting anymore updates? Will it be obsolete in not too long? Which implications are involved?

Nothing to do with Motion. Hit google for descriptions and comparisons about your chosen codecs.
One's decision to use any particular codec is based on one's target application's needs. If your VJ tool absolutely need PlanarRGB, you will need to ask the mfr why they are sticking with a legacy codec when this is the 21st Century. If they won't help you, you must consider changing your hardware.

  • How to change the text color of a label by using RGB values without changing the background colour?

    xCode interface builder:
When I try to change the color property of a label's text by using the RGB values, the background color also changes to the same value automatically.
    in other words:
While setting the RGB values for text colour of labels, the background colour also changes unless we use the sliders.
How to make sure that only the color of text changes and not the background?

    You can simply do this.
        [labelname setTextColor:[UIColor colorWithRed:38/255.0f green:171/255.0f blue:226/255.0f alpha:1.0f]];

  • PS CS with color space set to Prophoto RGB - will ACR change embedded profiles?

Probably a foolish question but my problem is that I have a mixture of files:
My own files (all initially RAW (NEF) which I import into ACR as 16 bit Prophoto RGB ).
Files from family members and from slide scanning performed elsewhere - they are in 2 groups:
The first of these from elsewhere acquired files were all JPEGs that I converted to Tiffs in Bridge before setting out to edit them-- all unfortunately 8bit and sRGB.
The scanned files were scanned as tiffs but also 8bit and sRGB.
My normal procedure is that I in ACR I have set the files to 16 bit and Prophoto RGB. In PS the same but also to preserve embedded profiles. I have the impression that working with the "foreign" files in 16 bit does give me more room for editing but that I should continue with the embedded profiles.
Is there a way to ensure that the color profiles are not changed in ACR even if the line in the middle below says 16 bit Prophoto RGB (I have PS CS5). I would hate to have to change this line each time I view a file in ACR. I would hate more to loose the editing facilities in ACR as these acquired files do need som special care before they are mixed with my own in our family albums. I prefer the 16 bit Prophoto RGB option for my own files as I like to play with them - i.e. apart from including them in Photo Albums.
I do see that a logical way is to process all the acquired files before going to my own files but it is so much more practical for me to work with a mixture of the files sorted chronologically - a year or month at the time.
I would even consider getting an upgrade to CS6 if this version could help me.
    Can someone enligthen me?
    Thanks, Git

    Hi, Tom.
The real issue here is getting accurate color. You can't get accurate color by setting your monitor profile to sRGB. sRGB is a virtual color space that doesn't describe the exact color gamut of any physical device. But, in order to display sRGB or any color space accurately, you need to get a characterization of your monitor.
Here is an AWESOME way to get access to a colorimeter: http://www.lensrentals.com/rent/pantone-huey-colorimeter Looks like for $32 you can rent this for a week. Go in on this with a friend and profile both of your monitors and hardly pay a thing. If you have a reasonably good quality LCD monitor, this custom profile you make will be fairly accurate for many months. At the very least, this is way more accurate than having no regular calibration at all.
    Hope this helps!

  • Curve/Level RGB Doesn't Change Individual Channels

Weird. When I adjust slider in Levels or point in Curves using the RGB master (default), and then go to the individual color channels, none of them have changed at all. Has anyone else seen this behavior?

the sliders do not represent the image which is reflected in the histogram, but the changes you have made and about to commit if you press OK. Refer to the preview (not the sliders) if you want to know how the image will be affected.

  • PNG changing colors using save for web (CS2)

Im having a problem with making PNG pictures when using the "save for web" function (this also happens in Image ready)
I make an image in sRGB color space and chose "save for web" and set the settings, all looks fine and i save it as png8 or png24.
Then when i view it in a browser the colors af "off" (desaturated) ??
But if i chose "Save as" in Photoshop, and chose png, and save it that way, the color macth up and looks allright.
What im a doing wrong ??
I have made a test with to sets of colors / picture one with "websave" color and one without then save them "using save for web" in gif, jpg with profile, png8 and png24
The gif and jpg goes well but the png's colors goes "off"
I also saved the to files using "save as" and here the png's colors looks fine
(Ther are also some screendums of my color setting, "save for web" setting and my screen profile if that can be of anny help
    http://home19.inet.tele.dk/jgom/pngtest/
Also! can anybody tell me this ?
When using "save as" i cant chose what png im saving as ? (8 or 24) What type of png dos PS use when you save it like that ???

Now I've read up on it, it seems the issue is indeed gamma.
(I really appreciate the "that's impossible, you must be doing something wrong" comments, by the way. Not "hmm, I don't know," but actually "what you've described in detail isn't happening; you're imagining things." Super helpful.)
Anyway the real question is: is there a way to stop Photoshop from including gamma data? It's apparently an optional portion of the PNG spec.
The whole gamma thing is unfortunate, but the *really* unfortunate bit is that Photoshop includes this information at all, particularly in a Save for Web context.
Most importantly, it seems this has been an issue for some time (Google "PNG Photoshop gamma"), and PNG is usually used for web, so why on Earth hasn't Adobe addressed this? Let's not forget that Photoshop is the industry-leading tool, and the Extended version costs $1000 by itself. The only options I've seen for saving as PNG in PS so far is sRGB conversion, bit depth, transparency, and interlacing. This whole gamma thing seems pretty unacceptable behavior, even by default.
I'm looking into pngcrush; does anyone have a simpler solution to strip the gamma information? Of course, if there's a way to do this in Photoshop itself, please please let me know.
    Thanks.

  • Why do the relative values of RGB and CMYK change when switching between Photoshop and InDesign?

I'm trying to put together a Colour Guide for my company's brand guidelines.
I initially worked from InDesign and wrote down all the H, RGB, and CMYK values that I got when I eye-dropped my original colour palette.
However when I put the same RGB values into Photoshop- I am given a (slightly) different set of CMYK numbers from those that I had originally documented in InDesign.
    Why is this???

    Jamie,
in Photoshop go to Edit > Color Settings and choose your  parameters:
For RGB: sRGB or AdobeRGB (1998)
For CMYK: the process as recommended by your printer (person, company)
For offset printing this is here ISOCoated-v2-eci and elsewhere for instance SWOP.
For digital printing you should ask the company as well.
    For Grayscale: Gray Gamma 2.2
For Spot: probably irrelevant in the moment. Dot Gain 20%
    Everything as shown here:
For your application I've modified my settings a little, therefore we can see top left 'unsynchronized'.
In InDesign do practically the same, but there are no settings for Grayscale.
You'll find for any topic explanations if you move to by mouse (position the pointer over ...).
The field 'Settings' shows not 'Custom' but the file name of a configuration which had been previously saved
and then loaded (buttons top right).
Further explanations on request. It would be quite useless to explain everything now at the same time.
The colors will be wrong if the settings are not synchronized. Above they are explicitly synchronized.
Because Bridge was not used, the system considers them as 'not synchronized', which doesn't matter.

  • Beta keynote or change to keynote for the (i)mac

When mavericks was dowloaded to my imac, received for free keynote beta in the icloud (as well as notes and numbers). Do I or should I need to download keynote for the mac instead, or the iwork suite or just go into my icoud account and utilise the keynote ('powerpoint app') from there and not worry about 'updating'. No need to update the other suites as yet. Just wanting to start doing some 'powerpoint' stuff.

Keynote iCloud is a test (beta) application, dont expect your files or the application to be available in the future.
It may be that Apple will decide to provide this as a permanent application, we just dont know. Test icloud  and if you want the permanent iWork applications you, might decide to buy them later.

  • HT5534 So how does this change/improve Keynote on the OSX Mac?

that's my whole question. It's been AGES since Keynote improved, and frankly PPT on the Mac is really just as good, if not better than KN. Didn't used to be the case...

Sorry Gary. I thought that the category of the question would be clear enough to indicate the context. I'm referring to the latest update of the software that was triggered through Mac OS X software update. It seemed mostly for iOS compatibility, and I found it incredibly difficult to believe that the Mac-based version wasn't getting any kind of serious upgrade.

  • Changes to Keynote since I updated it

The inspector icon has disappeared from the toolbar and now I can't apply a different  master slide  - the only option it is giving me is to edit the master slide - which I don't want to do.
Does anyone know how I can now apply a different master slide?
Also since I updated, when trying to automatically resize font in a title - as the size of the title box changes, the + at the bottom will no longer double click. Does anyone know why?  I'm new to Keynote

The inspector is the pane located on the right hand side of the canvas, clicking the Format, Animate or Setup buttons will show the corresponding Inspector window
Clicking in the slide Layout dropdown box (marked in red) will display the Master Slide selection list
The plus on a text box is an indicator only, it shows there is text hidden by the size of the text box, drag a handle to resize the box to display the text, dragging a handle will also automatically resize the text.

  • Why does Illustrator automatically change RGB and CMYK values

Hi, I am struggling to understand why Illustrator is changing the values inside the RGB and CMYK boxes. I am also not sure of the exact relationship between these values. Essentially, it appears that if you set the Document Color Mode to RGB, it leaves the RGB values that you type in alone. If you set the Document Color Mode to CMYK, it leaves the CMYK values alone.
But as soon as you change the Color Mode, it automatically modifies the values. So if you were in RGB mode and you set some RGB values, it changes those RGB values when you switch to CMYK mode. And vice versa.
I had thought that the CMYK palette was a subset of the RGB palette. It would make sense to me if it did this when I switched from RGB to CMYK mode, but it doesn't make sense to me why it does this when I switch from CMYK to RGB mode.
The other thing I am confused about is the relationship of the values in the RGB boxes to the values in the CMYK boxes. I would have thought that the relationship between them would be static. Actually, it is not. When I am in CMYK mode and I enter a CMYK value of 90 16 0 0, the RGB values become 0 158 222. But when I switch over to RGB mode, the RGB values of 0 158 222 result in CMYK values of 75 23 0 0.
    Very confusing.
Thanks in advance if you can explain this behavior!

    Color management.
An Ai document can be either RGB or CMYK. The colors follow the document color mode and thus are converted immediately if they don't match.
But as soon as you change the Color Mode, it automatically modifies the values. So if you were in RGB mode and you set some RGB values, it changes those RGB values when you switch to CMYK mode. And vice versa.
    Same reason.
I had thought that the CMYK palette was a subset of the RGB palette. It would make sense to me if it did this when I switched from RGB to CMYK mode, but it doesn't make sense to me why it does this when I switch from CMYK to RGB mode.
It's not. CMYK color spaces (there are more than just one) are normally smaller than RGB color spaces, but they aren't a "subset".
When Illustrator converts the colors, it uses color management: the profiles you set up and the methods you set up. After converting it forgets the color that used to be. When converting "back", it uses color management again.
When you convert an very bright RGB color, it be out of the CMYK gamut. So it get's converted to the closest possbile CMYK color (which might still be far away from the original color. But it's not possible to convert it "back" to the bright one unless you just revert the conversion (by Cmd/Ctrl + Z).
