RH 10: not use Master Page in Printed Docs

I have a Master Page set up with a company logo and horizontal rules, which works great with the help topics. The problem occurs when I generate printed docs from the source files.
Everything else works well enough to get by (I have some tweaking to do), BUT every single topic shows up with the rules and the company logo. I don't see anywhere to NOT apply the Master Page to the printed output. Is there a secret to not using the online help layout in the printed docs?
thanks,
Alia

Master page headers and footers 100% guaranteed do not survive the trip to printed documentation. My guess is that in the master page your "headers" and "footers" have been created in the body section of the master page.
Create a new topic attaching that master page in the process. Then unlink the master page from that topic. Do you still see the header and footer? If you do, my theory is proved. If you do not, post back.

  • How to remove infopath ribbon using Master Page?

    Hi All,
I would like to remove infopath ribbon using Master Page, using f12 removed like "<div id="s4-ribbonrow"
class="s4-pr s4-ribbonrowhidetitle" style="display:none">". But how to perform in original master page? Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
Based on your description, my understanding is that you want to remove InfoPath ribbon using Master Page.
using F12 to find the <div id=”RibbonWrapper”> section:
    Navigate to :C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\ FormServer.aspx. Add the following CSS into <head runat="server"></head>section:<style type="text/css">
    #RibbonWrapper
    display: none !important;
    </style>

How to set unequal columns using master pages in InDesign CS3?

I don't have CS3 anymore but I don't think this has substantially changed in the last few versions of InDesign.
Choose View > Grids & Guides > uncheck Lock Column Guides. Then drag the column guides to the position you want.

  • Sidehead: want on L/R master pages but not other master pages

    Hello!
I've been fighting this all evening and can't seem to get it to work. I would like to have room for a sidehead on my L/R pages in my facing page document but I would like my master page "First Page of Chapter" to not have a sidehead: I would like the text on that one page to span the entire width of the text frame.
When I try to set this up, however, the first page of chapter has the sidehead, even though it its text frame doesn't appear to have a sidehead when I view its master page.
What's odd is that the master page sidehead area isn't even the same size as the sidehead that's appearing on the L/R pages, it's much wider.
Can someone tell me the process for not allowing room for a sidehead on the first page of the chapter (with the "First Page of Chapter" master page) but having sideheads on the subsequent pages that belong to the L/R master pages?
    Many thanks!

    Rocky,
To add a maybe unnecessary level of detail, the side-head area is a flow level property. Separate text flows within a document may have separate settings, but normally you would not want to have separate text flows.
Apart from using special paragraph formats, as Arnis mentioned, you could also make the text frame on your title master page wider and move it to the left side possible a little bit off the page, so the main column is positioned as you wnat/like/need it.

  • Best practice using "Master Page"?

I have a photography website that I am building. Aside from the splash page, all of the other pages have the same header and footer. I figure I can use a master page to save some time. Since the splash page is completely different, should a create a new .png document to work on that? It seems like once you set a master page, ALL pages in the .png have to incorporate the same elements.
Also, with a master page do I only need to slice and export the master elements once? And just slice the new items from the different pages?
    Thanks,
    Gordon

You don't need a separate PNG file. Simply create the splash page as a separate page not linked to the master. You can remove the master page layer from any page by choosing this option in the Layers panel options.

  • Multiple master pages, But only first master page is printed or is shown in pdf preview.

    Hi,
I have 8 master pages in my adobe form, But when I see the PDF preview or print only the first master page is shown or printed. Can anyone please tell me how to print or pdf preview all the master pages. The contents in the master pages are different.
    Thanks in advance.

Master pages are used a background for body pages (similar to a background image).
You should put all your contents on separate body pages instead master pages.

  • Search for master page usage; better way to use master pages?

    Hi all,
I am using Frame 9. I have my files set to always have an even number of pages. For chapters where the text ends on a right-hand page, I assign a custom master page to the final left-hand page -- this custom master page has our logo on it. However, because my files have a lot of conditional text (3 different versions of the publication  get generated from the same source files), the lengths of the chapters often change when switching between different conditional versions. So for example, for version 1, I assign the custom master page to the last page of the chapter, which is page 28. Then when I switch my conditional text settings to show version 2, the chapter is now 36 pages long, but my custom master page is still applied to page 28. I have to remove it from page 28 and reassign it to page 38. Here are my questions:
    1) Is there a way to search for pages that have a specific master page applied? I hoped that I could generate a list of master page usage using the Special > List Of > References option, but apparently not.
    2) Is there any way to get Frame to automatically assign my custom master page when it is appropriate, rather than doing it by hand for each conditional version of each chapter?
    Thanks!

To identify master pages that control pages in body page view, create an identifier on each master page, as you'd create a watermark with text in a background text frame. Control its visibility with either a condition, or by assigning it a color that's invisible in a color view.

  • Apply footer to topics without using master page

Does anyone here know of a way to apply a footer to multiple topics without using a master page? I'm using TC3 with a linked Frame book.
Thanks in advance for any help!

There is probably a better way to do this, but I found a work around.  I set the fields on the master page to "Use Global Data" in the Binding tab.  This means that the value for that field will be the same for any field with the same name.  Then, on my main page, I have a hidden field with the same name that I can populate with ColdFusion and the value will also show in the master page.
If anyone has a more elegant way to do this, please respond.  I am new to LiveCycle and I'm sure there are a lot of features that I am not aware of that could help me.

  • Using Master pages with image placeholders

I've created a masterpage that contains image placeholder and header, and body copy text fields...but I can't seem to figure out how to use them once I'm inside of a page. In InDesign you can override a master object, but I can't seem to figure it out. Is this even possible??
    Let me know and thanks!

The content placed in a Master page can only be selected/edited in the Master page and not in the associated content pages. A Master Page in Muse allows you to apply common elements like headers, footers, logos, and navigation to multiple pages in your site. A way around this would be create an overlapping object in the content page so as to hide the Master object placing it behind the overlapping object using Layers feature.
Hope this helps, let me know if that is not exactly what you were looking for.

  • Report output not using full page.

I have a report that does not use the full screen to display.  The output display on about a 1.5 to 2 inch section of the page and the rest is white space.  How do I get it to use the full page?

    Hi Raymist123,
If I understand correctly, the issue which you occurred is that the report content only displayed about 1.5 to 2 inch. As per my understanding, I think this issue is caused by the report content including all the report items (table, matrix, list, chart,
gauge, text boxes etc.) is only occupied 1.5 to 2 inch on the report design surface. If in this case, we can try to expand the sizes of all the report items to fix the issue. And please make sure that the PageSize of the report have set to 8.5 x 11.
If this issue is still existed, could you please post the screenshot about the design surface and the all the size properties? Then we can make further analysis.
    Hope this helps.

  • Why can I not get the pages to Print?

I have been trying to get my taxes to print, but the new Adobe program just keeps trying to save it over and over again.  This is really frustrating!  I have tried to send it to another program and it ends up all jumbled up.  Nothing is worth this frustration!  What has happened to just getting a page to print?

    Hi monab,
I would love to help--we don't want you to be frustrated with our software. Are you trying to print a PDF file? Are you printing from Adobe Reader? Or, are you trying to print directly from a browser?
Please tell me a bit more about the process you're using, and what and where you're trying to print.  Please also include what version of Reader you have (if that is the Adobe program that you're using), and whether you're on Mac OS or Windows.
We will do our best to get things working for you, but we need to a little more information to go on.
    Best,
    Sara

  • My printer use two page to print one...

Hi guys, could someone help me? I try print a copy but my printer use two page to do it. For example I try to print a fly ticket and my printer do it in two page when with one is enough. Also, I cant print PDF... Thanks for your help

    Hi @valemula,
    Welcome to the HP Forums
I'd be happy to help with your Deskjet 2040 on your Windows 8.1 computer, I just need a bit more information to do so!
What program are you trying to print from that it does 2 pages instead of 1? Are you printing from the Internet or using say Word?
Where do you print PDF's from (example: do you use Adobe?)?
What happens when you try to print them? Do you get an error? If so, what does it say?
As you're using Windows, I'd suggest while I await your response that you try downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor and follow any suggestions it may have to offer. If it fails on anything please let me know.
Hope to hear back from you soon, have a happy new year

  • Using Master Pages in more than one Muse site

Can I import a master pager from one Muse site into another so I can use it there without having to start the layout over from scratch?
    And if so, then how?

    Hello Angela,
You can do this by opening the master page from the source site, then use Edit -> Select All, copy and then go to the master page in the destination site, and use Edit -> Paste in Place. This will make the destination master page same as the source master page.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers

  • Count words, but not in master pages...

    With this:
    var docWordCount = app.documents.everyItem().stories.everyItem().words.length; // words
... I count the words of all open documents.
But how I can exclude the master pages?
    Thanks in advance ...!

Well, I think I got what I wanted:
    var wMasters = app.documents.everyItem().masterSpreads.everyItem().textFrames.everyItem().words.length;var docWordCount = app.documents.everyItem().stories.everyItem().words.length; // words
    var myDocWordCount = docWordCount - wMasters;
