RH 9 - ? about Importing

I'd like to link a FM 9 document rather than import it. I'm not sure if I'm going about this correctly, but I've tried to create a blank project and then attempted to import the FM 9 book but the Import menu option is not available when I do this, only the Word option is available. How would one go about linking a FM document in RH 9?
Thanks in advance.

FrameMaker document link option is available in File->Link->FrameMaker Document menu item. However, this option is enabled only if you have installed Technical Communication Suite as mentioned by Jeff.

  • Confused about importing images

    I'm new to DreamWeaver but I've used GoLive for many years and still do. In GoLive if I want to import a folder of images so as to have them to work with in my site I just select Import, navigate to the folder and click it and the folder of images is copied to the site and appears in the GoLive window.
    There is no way to do this in DreamWeaver that I can see. There is nothing I can find in the Help files or in the Missing Manual about importing images except one confusing entry in the Missing Manual. It says an image can be anywhere on your hard drive, but a couple paragraphs later it says images should be in the root folder of the site. I don't see any way to get them into the root folder other than doing so in the Finder which the documentation cautions against because DreamWeaver will become confused if this is done outside of DreamWeaver's Files window.
    This has been absolutely maddening for me and I've spent at least an hour trying to figure out how to simply import images. It shouldn't be this difficult? What am I missing?

    I believe my original question clearly stated that I wanted to import a _folder_ of images into DW and _not_ bring them in _one at a time_ as I use them. This qestion remains unanswered.
    No, you cannot IMPORT the images per se, there is no import function available.
    Nadia, first you say to bring files into DW via the Files window and caution against doing it another way. Then in your next reply you say you don't use the Files window and so in fact bring the images in another way via Windows Explorer.
    I appreciate you trying to be helpful, but I can't imagine being presented with more contradictory and confusing information.
    Can anybody tell me how to import a folder of images into DW?
    What I was trying to explain was that there are different ways to 'bring in' the images into the defined Dreamweaver site.
    1.  Copy them from anywhere on your hard-drive  into a specific images folder within the defined site.
    2.  Work with an image that may be saved elsewhere, but save it to a folder within the defined site.
    As for the confusion.  regarding working with files, you need to understand why you need to define a site in Dreamweaver first.  DW keeps track of all the links as you build a site, but the files - whether html, text or image files - need to be inside the defined site folder structure.  How you get them in there is completely up to you.  More than one way to skin a cat as they say.
    Define a site:

    Use MPEG Streamclip to convert it. Depending on the type of file you might need to purchase the MPEG-2 playback component.

  • Basic question about importing wma files

    Hi, I have a basic question about importing wma files. I ripped some cd's on a Mindows computer using Media Player, but now want to copy them to my Mac and use them in iTunes on my Mac. when I use Import in iTunes, nothing happens and I cant even seem to copy them one by one using the Music folder.
    Can someone help me?
    thanks
    eMac   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    iTunes for Mac doesn't support .wma files.
    If you can use a PC to convert them, you can use one of many freeware applications. Google for 'wma to mp3'.
    For the Mac there's the shareware program EasyWMA that can convert them.
    Hope this helps.

  • Some questions about importing HTML files

    Hi, folks
    Let's suppose we want to import a pack of HTML files formatted in HTML5 wit's it's CSS into a double-oriented folio. A couple or three questions about that, please:
    1. Is there a limit for a reasonable quantity of HTML files I can import into a folio? I mean.. 100 would be way too much, for instance?
    2. These HTML files could be navigated and referenced from inside TOC-pages made in InDesign,right? (navto://..., I gues?)
    2. Will it be possible, by means of HTML adaptative design techniques, to treat both orientations (vertical and horizontal) as different viewports or screen sizes so that the design adapts for instance the column width with its CSS?
    3. That said, will the InDesign final app. respect that adaptative CSS rules?
    I am asking this because we are looking for a way to inject big quantities of content with a very similar design into our application in a really fast and automatizable way and I have the suspicion* that importing HTML5 preformated CSS files could be the a very good and simple alternative to importing XML into InDesign templates as we start out content as tagged almost-html files.
    Thanks a lot
    Gustavo Sánchez (Posting from Madrid)

    I assume you are asking about using HTML articles.
    1. There is no limit beyond simply keeping things reasonable.
    2. Yes. Just use navto://articlename
    3. Yes. I've used min-width of 768 and max width of 1024 to control it.
    4. InDesign does not enter into any of this with the exception of using the folio builder panel. Everything else is done in Dreamweaver or whatever program you decide to use for the article.
    If you want to restrict the HTML articles to one orientation or the other, use the _h and _v suffixes.

  • IPhoto 6 doesn't ask about importing duplicates anymore...

    Up until yesterday, iPhoto would ask if I wanted to import duplicate photos every time I hooked up the camera and it detected pictures that were already imported. Today, that doesn't happen. Clicking the "Import" button imports everything on the camera, even if it's been imported once or twice already. I can't find a preference to change the import behavior back to asking whether or not I want duplicates imported.
    Any ideas?

    I thought about working around this by using the Finder to copy the photos directly into the iPhoto database, but I'm not sure whether iPhoto would recognize them.
    It won't. *It is strongly advised that you do not move, change or in anyway alter things in the iPhoto Library Folder as this can cause the application to fail and even lead to data loss*
    v6 can be quite temperamental in dealing with importing duplicates. For best results, copy the files to a folder on the desktop and then try importing.
    If you do end up with duplicates, Duplicate Annihilator can help.

  • Question about imported file

    Hi,
    I was taking a look to the tutorial provided by the otn web site about TopLink and I saw that we have to import the source.jar file.
    I'm working with JBuilder and I have imported as a library toplink.jar, antlr.jar and xerces.jar and it works fine. Do I really need to also import source.jar and/or other .jar?

    I would presume that the source.jar would only be needed in IDEs for parsing the source for code completion and Javadoc. Most newer IDEs are pretty good at parsing the .class files for most of the info though. So I don't think its really needed.

  • Help about importing files and fullscreen mode

    Hi,
    sorry but i'm kinda new about this. I'm creating a kiosk for my company which uses a touchscreen PC like what you see in the malls right now i.e directory. Im using flash cs5 and AS3. My problem is when I imported video / swf file in my stage (which is in full screen when loaded in projector), the video / swf file automatically change to full screen also. What I like to do is even if my window is in full screen mode, the video will still be the same what I set it to be. For you to imagine what im doing is in my homepage, my buttons would be video/swf files placed side by side. Once I click on one video it will go to another scene just like a website. I tried to google about this but no luck, all i find is how to import. These are the codes i used to load my project in fullscreen mode automatically.
    var main:Stage = this.stage;
    main.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE;
    main.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.EXACT_FIT;
    main.align = StageAlign.TOP;
    main.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN;
    Hope you can help me on this. Thanks in advance for those who will help.
    Thank you
    -Arjae

    thanks andrei. but it still doesn't solve my problem.
    var main:Stage = this.stage;
    main.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE;
    //main.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.EXACT_FIT;
    main.align = StageAlign.TOP;
    main.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN;
    as u have said, i remove scale_fit line but still in full screen. when I run s swf file the video automatically converted to full screen. what i only want to make full screen is the stage where the video is located. is there some command i need to do on this? I tried to use this using AS2 and its ok, the video didn't go full screen even the stage itself is in fullscreen. but i really want to use AS3 because of some features. If you can help, it will be great. Thanks lot!

  • Import preferences and question about import

    Under Preferences/Advanced is the selection: "Copy files to iPhoto Library folder when adding to library."
    Should this option be selected? What does it do?
    When I import, neither roll nor photo name appear in the left menu window of iPhoto. Other rolls and photo folder names and photo names appear there. Should the imports appear there?
    At the head of the left menu window is "Source" and then "Library" folder followed by a listing of other folders and photos. Does this mean the other folders and photos are not in the Library folder? Is there anything that should be done?
    thanks again.

    VRS
    Under Preferences/Advanced is the selection: "Copy files to iPhoto Library folder when adding to library."
    Should this option be selected? What does it do?
    Yes it should. It means that when you import photos into iPhoto, then iPhoto will make a copy of the pic in the iPhoto Library Folder. The advantages of this are several:
    1. iPhoto becomes responsible for File Management. That is, you do all your organising in the iPhoto Window and can forget about the iPhoto Library Folder. iPhoto will store your photos there, along with your library files. When you delete photos in iPhoto (Move them to the iPhoto trash -> Empty iPhoto Trash) they are deleted from the hard drive as well. Moving your pics to an external HD or to a new computer is also much more straightforward.
    IF you don't do this, then iPhoto will make shortcuts that point to your pics (where ever you have them. Importing and Deleting become multi-stage projects and the level of complication increases.
    Keep it simple, as I've detailed in other posts you can still easily find your files :There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
    1. Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. Show File: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
    Once you've imported your pics into iPhoto, and you're sure that all is working correctly, you can then trash your original copies.
    When I import, neither roll nor photo name appear in the left menu window of iPhoto. Other rolls and photo folder names and photo names appear there. Should the imports appear there?
    No, that's the space for Albums and Folders full of Albums. You can see your Rolls (View Menu -> Film Rolls) in the main part of the window, and these rolls correspond exactly to the Rolls in the Finder. If you drag a folder of pics to the Source pane, an album will be created there automatically, with the same name as the folder, and a new Film Roll will also be created.
    An important clarification: Rolls, as I said above, are directly related to Rolls in the iPhoto Library Folder at Go/Pictures.
    Albums and Folders in the source pane are "virtual". That is, they have no direct corresponding folders in the Finder. Really, what they are is an instruction to iPhoto: display these photos together..., that's all.
    The advantage: a pic can be in 50 albums with no duplication at all.
    Isn't that where this started? ;))

  • Confused about import and export formats

    I have a load of 8mm video footage that I want to archive before the old camera dies. As a first step I have used my DVD/HDD recorder attached to my TV to save the footage from the camera, do a little bit of editing and then burn onto DVD at the highest quality available. Doing this I can get 60 mins of footage onto each DVD and the quality is a good as the original. I now want to play with a few of these by importing into iMovie 09 so that I can add a few titles and link clips together with a few transitions. Nothing too complicated. Here's where I get a bit lost with all the formats available to me for importing and exporting. What's the best way of doing this? Having read around a bit it looks like conversion to DV is good for getting into iMovie in the first place. To do this I have tried using MPEG Streamclip and it looks OK, but what about all of the settings options DV25, DVCPRO25, DVCPRO50, frame blending, downscaling etc etc no idea what any of this means. Then having added a few bits and pieces, what's the best way of saving it again to make sure that I keep the quality as high as possible - DV? Ultimately I'd like to have the edited movies back on DVDs with the footage quality the same as I started with i.e. no compression artefacts. If I save the final version in DV format I could then keep copies to view with Quicktime and then do I just use iDVD or MPEG Streamclip to convert to a format playable on a DVD player. Is there any guide somewhere as to what all of the different formats are for pro.s cons etc. Also confused as to why files get bigger and bigger e.g. a 20min clip on a DVD is about 1.5GB, but when converted to DV becomes almost 5GB. I can understand how compression makes files sizes smaller, but what's happening here??
    Neil

    A Quick Time .mov movie can play on any PC as log as they have the Quicktime player
    free http://www.apple.com/quicktime/
    To do it, open iMovie, pick you project, then "Share to Media Browser" and pick the "HD" setting. It can take hours/movie depending on their length. Once it is done you can find it inside the iMovie project's file. TO get there, go to Users Folder -> your User name folder -> Movies -> iMovie projects -> and find the project that you made the movie from. Right click on that file (or use the control key as you click on the file) and you will see a menu -> Show Package contents -> Movies and your 720p .mov movie will be in that Movie folder. you can drag it to your desktop and copy it to your external HD or flash drive.

  • About importing data bases...

    i want to import an access data base to an oracle bata base, but the data is in an "arabic" language
    so when i converted the access, the data showed in the oracle was not readable...
    so what to do to convert the data in the arabic language?

    In what version and for what purpose?
    If you are thinking that an export is a backup you
    are sadly mistaken and should use RMAN.
    If you are thinking about something else please
    explain it.Well...Main office of our company sends updates of data every month. As I understand, they export data from their database to the dmp file. And right now i must import it to our base. So their changes will appear in our data.

  • Ask about import and instruction which i don't understand.

    Hi,
    I am very new to java. please help..
    I want to run some example in some sites i found.
    but some time i found that the sample requires or need me to download the included library in order to run the code successfully
    while i don't know what, how and where to put that library.
    i download it, and it in .jar type. , i also find the instruction like this : *"Please note that these packages must be on the classpath of your building environment."*
    what that means actually ?, how to accomplish it ?
    and what about that .jar file, i think it must be a collection of file (or class???) , because when i looked at the code, it contains some import commands. and that jar file is the required files to download.
    please give me some brief n clear knowledge about this.
    thanks,

  • About important tables in FI

    Hi Friends,
    I would like to know something about the tables and the data flow. I've not been a part of customising a "Z" report as yet, and I'm sure I would have to do it any time.
    Please suggest to me as to where do I need to start off and the importance of learning the table names pertaining to FI/CO. Important factors that I need to bear in my mind before I could attempt to do so.
    What information I need to give to the ABAPer or how do I prepare a Functional(or Technical) spec.
    Would highly appreciate if there are any links pertaining to this and also if anyone could share some tips.
    Regards,
    Soujanya.

    http://www.abap.es/Descargas/TAB%20-%20Relacion%20de%20las%20tablas%20por%20modulos.PDF
    you may please search in search engines with
    sap tables .pdf
    sap tables .doc
    You should be able to identify the tables and field names to be populated.
    Technical spec. is more of technical in nature with table and field names, whereas functional spec. is more of explaining the functionality required. A lay man should be able to understanding functionality when they read the FS. Whereas, Technical spec. if purely for technical purposes with lot of table and field names and other technical stuff.
    Check on google for some sample documents.

  • Confused about import iPhoto Libraries Aperture 3.2

    When I first purchase Aperture 3.2.3 back in May I had many iPhoto librarys split out by year. I wanted an integrated view so when I imported them to Aperture I chose the "leave iPhoto library in place" option. That may not be the exact wording. I was under the impression that this meant that Aperture would point to those libraries, but not duplicate them. I'm not so sure of that now. My Aperture library is around 25GB. My iPhoto libraries add up to at least 120GB.
    I have upgraded to Aperture 3.4.2. I know about the library switching option, but I still want an integrated look at all my photos in one place. I got Aperture so I didn't have to do the iPhoto library switching I was doing.
    Yesterday I spent a good amount of time deleting a bunch of extraneous photos I had from a project I did throughout 2011. My Aperture library shrunk 1GB. The iPhoto library didn't change size. That makes me think that the import actually put the files in the Aperture Library.
    So, now I'm not sure what's going on. Is there a way to see which libraries are pointed to the original iPhoto libraries?

    Is there a way to see which libraries are pointed to the original iPhoto libraries?
    When you select an image in the Aperture library and use the command "File > Show in Finder" you can see the location of the original image file. If this points into a folder inside an iPhoto Library, you are really referencing the iPhoto Library. But if the command "Show in Finder" is disabled for an image, it is managed inside the Aperture library.
    But frankly, I do not think it is a good idea to use Aperture to delete images inside your iPhoto libraries. Ypur iPhoto Libraries may be corrupted this way.
