RH 9 - Can I edit browse sequence button sizes in a CHM?

I'm quite sure this is NOT possible, but I promised my localization coordinator, I'd ask.
The issue is that we have localized strings (from RH, not from our translators) that are overlapping on the Next and Previous buttons in some languages in the Browse Sequences. Like this:
I've looked, but I don't see a way to expand the button sizes. I know we can change the .lng file to use different (possibly shorter) terms than what RH picked for these, but a better solution would be to adjust the GUI for text expansion in localized languages.

Sorry Jared
All that functionality is embedded inside the guts of the HHActiveX.DLL file.
Cheers... Rick

  • Creating browse sequence buttons like in Adobe's RH help file

Anyone know how to edit a skin such that the browse sequence
buttons appear on the right, like Adobe has them in their RoboHelp
    file?

    Hi, MM Acton
Allow me to chime in with my esteemed colleagues. The first issue I see is that you do not have a Window Defined. You need a window in order to select the Browse Sequence Option for the CHM.
In Project Set Up create a new window, selecting Microsoft HTML Help as the type
On the Microsoft HTML Help Options Dialog, give the Window a name such as "CHMWindow" (No spaces)
Be sure to "tick" the Browse Sequence option and click OK
Double click the Microsoft HTML Help Single Source Layout to bring up the HTML Help Options dialog
From the Default Window drop down, select the CHMWindow you created
    Save and Generate
This will show the browse sequence "icon avenue" (the showy icons at the top of the CHM)
As for the Citrix thing. If the machine hosting the CHM being viewed has the HHActiveX.DLL installed, the CHM should display as advertised. Tell your Admin that Adobe licenses unlimited re-distribution of that DLL.
You can find documentation on this redistribution license and how to register it in the online help:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/robohelp/robohtml/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d11aff59c2a0-7f49.ht ml
Here is the path where you will find the DLL itself:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe RoboHelp 10\Redist
BTW, the reason the DLL was created in the first place is that Microsoft never provided a Browse Sequence or a Glossary tab in their "out of the box" offering so RoboHelp conveniently provides this to authors as a "extra".

  • How can i get browse sequence widgets to follow hyperlinks instead of TOC?

I've created a screen layout based on the standard desktop layout and am using the default browse sequence (back, next) widget buttons included with the layout. Our topics include a number of hyperlinks to other help topics - for example, a dialog box overview topic might include a link to a how to topic for that dialog. I would like the browse sequence buttons to follow the hyperlink paths to the previous and next topics viewed. Right now, they instead go to the previous and next topics in the TOC. Is there a way to modify the properties of the buttons to follow the hyperlinks instead?
    Thanks for your help!

I think you are confusing Previous and Next in a browse sequence with Previous and Next as in path followed by the user.
A browse sequence is not necessarily the next item in a TOC. It is whatever you set up, TOC order is a default.
You can have path followed Previous and Next in addition using javascript methods. You will find solutions posted in these forums.

  • Browse sequence buttons not appearing in RoboHelp 9 .chm file

When I first created this project two years ago, I didn't think I'd be using browse sequences. Well, of course, things change, and now I think it would be a good idea.
I followed the instructions for creating a browse sequence automatically (Tools > Browse Sequence Editor, then Auto-create from TOC). That seemed to work.
I compile the .chm file. No >> buttons.
How do I enable them? I looked at the master page layout and didn't see anything there. I looked at the Project Settings (File > Project Settings) and couldn't see anything there.
I've searched the RH 9 help and can't find any reference. My guess is that they must appear automatically and I must have, in my infinite wisdom (HA!) deleted them two years ago when I thought I didn't need them.
    Suggestions?

Trying to edit title fonts and sizes in iMovie 10 but font drop down does not respond.  Tried a couple of different style titles with same results.  Anyone else have this problem?

  • Can't edit browser history

I used to be able to see a full page of browser history by day, sort it, optionally delete items and/or go to those pages. now it seems all I can do it go to the webpage or delete ALL recent history.

You can either open the History sidebar or open the History Manager (Library) via 3-bar Firefox menu button > History.
*You can toggle the Bookmarks sidebar off/on via "View > Sidebar > Bookmarks" or "Ctrl+B" (Command+B on Mac)
*You can toggle the History sidebar off/on via "View > Sidebar > History" or "Ctrl+H" (Command+H on Mac)
You can use the Classic Theme Restorer extension to find toolbar buttons to open the sidebar in the Customize palette (3-bar Firefox menu button > Customize).

  • How can i edit a boolean button so it can have three options. instead of two

i.e. ON and OFF are the default. I want it to have three, ON, OFF, REDUNDANT
    can you help me. asap.
    thanks. rocky

I'm not sure if I fully understand your question, but I'll give a shot at what I think it is. If you want a button that can be pressed so that its states go from
"on, off, red., on, off, red." etc. you will have to use a bit of trickery. In this case it is best to use a picture ring to give the controls the image you want and place a boolean button OVER the ring control. Make the boolean control completly transparent, resize it to cover the entire picture ring, and make sure the boolean is ABOVE the ring by using "move to front". You will then have to have a loop checking the boolean button for a press, and then modify the pic ring accordingly and take your "control value" off of the pic ring. I'd suggest finding a work-around if you can, as this is a lot of work to go
    through.

  • How can I edit the QuickPlay button on HP Pavilion dv6000?

I want the QuickPlay button for my HP Pavilion dv6936 to open iTunes instead of QuickPlay. I went to regedit, and once there, I'm stumped trying to figure out how to edit the path to the one-touch button I wish to edit. I tried "HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Mobil… but after changing the path of button 2, the one I thought was the correct button, there was no affect. Please help me fix this. I am running Vista.

    Hello ccc123d,
I won't be able to help you "hack" QuickPlay, but this link will help you get back whatever version you need.  The links are at the very bottom of the document.
    I hope this helps.

  • What exactly do the "levels" in Browse Sequence Editor mean?

    Hi
I have a ToC with three levels Unit > Lesson > Topic > Sub Topic. This ToC is coming from the linked FM. The ToC is paginated at Topic level and Sub Topic is basically a section within the Topic.
Now, I wanted my users to navigate through the course at sub topic level using Browse Sequence buttons. For example, in the screenshot shared below, I want the users to move from First Sub Heading sub topic to Second Sub Heading topic using Browse Sequence buttons. I thought I could achieve this by increasing the browse sequence levels. But that is not working. So, I am curious. What do these mean? Can I actually achieve my goal at all? If browse sequence level is not the correct way, can somebody please help me with the right approach?
    Thanks

Not really Rick. I want a new sequence to be created at Subheading level, that is, the 4th level.  I will try to explain this further.
First level: I am on Unit 1. I click the Next button and I go to Unit 2. Works fine.
Second Level: I am on Lesson 1 of Unit 1. I click the Next button. I go to Lesson 2 of Unit 1. Works fine.
Third Level: I am on First-level heading of Unit 1 > Lesson 1. I click the Next button. I go to Second heading of Unit 1 > Lesson 1. Works fine.
Fourth Level: I am on First subheading of Unit 1 > Lesson 1 > First-level heading. I click the Next button. I must go to Second subheading of Unit 1 > Lesson 1 > First-level heading (which in my case is the Conditional text book). But it does not. Instead, it jumps from First subheading to Second-level heading.
Here is the screenshot again so that you don't have to scroll up.

  • Browse Sequence Stopped Working

I generated WebHelp output files on 11/19/14 (less than 2 weeks ago) in which the browse sequence works as expected.  When I generated output today, I noticed that the browse sequence buttons were not displaying.  I'm using RH 10 with IE 11.  I am the only person who accesses the RoboHelp project files for this project.
I checked the WebHelp project settings and noticed the "Enable Browse Sequence" box was not checked.  I checked it.  I regenerated the project.  The browse buttons now appear but remain disabled.  I used the Browse Sequence Editor to regenerate the browse sequence from the TOC.  It did not work as expected.  Instead of following the TOC sequence, it put all the first-level books at the beginning of the browse sequence, then all the second-level books, and so on.  Just the same, I saved and regenerated the project.  The browse buttons still appeared, but still remained disabled.  I used the Browse Sequence Editor again to regenerated the browse sequence based on the TOC using the option to create separate browse sequences for each book down to level 5 (just an arbitrary number).  RH created a bunch of separate browse sequences.  I clicked OK again and regenerated the project.  I still see disabled browse buttons, and I tried clicking multiple topics in different books to see if any of the separate browse sequences worked.  The browse buttons remained disabled.
I reviewed previous RH posts on this subject.  I saw Julietta Curtis' post on browse sequences not working in IE 10 but working in Chrome and Firefox.  I opened in Chrome and Firefox the last two versions of the WebHelp I generated; same results as IE 11--disabled browse buttons.  I opened the WebHelp from 11/19/14 in Chrome and Firefox; the browse sequence works fine.
Note:  I also tried regenerating the project using the project's .BRS file from prior processes--including .BRS files going back to 10/29/14.
Any thoughts on how to get the browse sequence working again?  Thanks!

Amebr, I would still be interested in knowing what you mean by "For the buttons, perhaps make sure your browse sequence hasn't become unticked in your SSL?"
I have tried everything I can think of.  I took a copy of the .hhc (TOC) file, reformatted it as a .BRS file using the structure of a valid .BRS file from another project, named the browse sequence (although that doesn't seem to matter), opened the Browse Sequence Editor and verified that I can view the browse sequence and view links from the Browse Sequence Editor, and re-verified the "Enable Browse Sequence" box is checked on the WebHelp Settings window.
RoboHelp appears to recognize the named BRS file as a valid BRS file, and it exactly matches the structure of the TOC because it was created from the TOC file.  The generated project still just shows disabled browse sequence buttons (which are an indication that the browse sequence box is checked because the buttons do not show up at all if it is unchecked).  Open to any suggestions on how to get this to work.
Don't think this is related, but ran a batch generate process on a different project and received a message that MS Word is not installed.  RH appears not to have been updated when my MS Word was updated from 2007 to 2013.  Was still able to generate the other project, and its browse sequence works.  What do I need to do to get RH 10 to recognize MS Word 2013?  Again, thanks!

  • Ordering browse sequences

    Hello there
I have been linking a RH project to FM files, crated TOCs, Indexes... all's fine except for one thing
I'm trying to generate browse sequences automatically from the TOCs. However, when I try to do so, the browse sequence navigator remains empty once I've chosen my root-TOC and the TOC levels to use. I cannot find out what I'm doing wrong.
Moreover, i can see available browse sequences in the browse-sequence editor window. But they are order alphabetically, which makes it impossible to add them manually to my project's browse sequence, as they are not ordered by my task levels. Is there another way to order them ?
Any hint would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi Jeff,
Thanks for your answer. I didn't know about the trick you mentioned, I tried it but it didn't change anything.
Here are more explanatory views of my problem :
As you can see, I can see my items just fine in the left side of the browse sequence editor window. My RH project is composed of several folders. Each one has its own TOC, with a master TOC (called Documentation_All). including all the other TOCs.
When I click "create aotomatically from TOC" button, the next window appears. I select my TOC and set 0 in the level field as you suggested. The thing is that after I've clicked the "OK" button, nothing happens and the browse sequence list remains empty.
Thanks a lot for your help.

  • RoboHelp HTML 9  - Browse Sequences missing in compiled chm

After compilation of chm help file, I can see my browse sequences, but the users do not, although  I am working on a 32 bit station, the users on 64 bit.
Note: I registered the HHActiveX.dll file as you explained in an older discussion.

    Hi there
Note that there are now *TWO* HHActiveX.dll files. Just to be on the safe side, I'd register both of them.
One is for use with the 32 bit help viewer and the other for use with the 64 bit help viewer.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Why do the glossary tab and browse sequences of my CHM not show up outside of Robohelp?

    Hi,
I have Robohelp 8.02.208 running on a 64-bit Windows 7 machine. It has only been a few weeks since I moved from XP, but I don't know if this is connected to my issue of having a grayed out glossary tab and no browse sequences listed in my generated CHM.
I had encountered a very simialr issue a couple or year ago, and thus I have verified in the registry that HHActiveX.dll is registered and properly located on my machine. All seems fine for that, but there is different twist: when I generate the CHM from Roboehlp and then click "View Result" everything works wonderfully. The problem is that as soon as I close that CHM, the browse sequences and glossary disappear. That is, I generate abc.CHM to C:\folderA and although everything is in place when I click View Result in Robohelp, if I later go to C:\folderA and open the same file, it has a grayed out glossary tab and missing browse sequences. And, not surprisingly I guess, if I send the CHM to someone else they get the same glossary-&-broswe-sequence-free result.
I have looked over many forum disucssions on grayed out glossary tabs and missing browse sequences, but nothing seems to explain my particular issue. It leaves me scratching my head quite a bit.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance :-)

    Hi there
Likely you need the 64 bit version of the HHActiveX.dll. I believe this is only available in RoboHelp HTML version 9.
If you have version 9 I received this from a Question I asked of Adobe:
...you can get the 64 bit version of HHActiveX.dll in  RoboHelp 9.0. It is kept at "<RoboHelp 9.0 install  folder>\Redist\x64\HHActiveX.dll"
If RoboHelp 9.0 is  installed on your machine, this activeX control is already registered.  Otherwise you need to register this DLL.
    To register HHActiveX.dll,
1> Run Command prompt(cmd.exe) as administrator
    2> Type "regsvr32 <HHActiveX.dll full path>" and press Enter.
3> This should show that the registration is done successfully.
Now working with 64 bit version of HH.exe should also show Glossary and Browse Sequences.
You might download version 9 and test.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Browse sequences for CHM files?

I spent a bunch of time setting up a browse sequence in HTML
Help but to no avail. Although the docs don't say it, I believe
that you can't have browse sequences in CHM files.
    Am I right?

    Hi Fuzzie
Hopefully Colum will please pardon my observation.
HHActiveX.DLL isn't part of Windows. It is a redistributable
file unique to RoboHelp HTML. It is owned and distributed by Adobe.
It contains the programming that makes Browse Sequences and the
Glossary Tab function inside compiled .CHM files. The intent is for
the help author to redistribute the file and no payment to Adobe is
    required as a result.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Browse sequences in WebHelp Pro

I publish my project to WebHelp Pro and the browse sequence

WebHelp Pro. They work fine for the same project when published to
    WebHelp.
    Thanks for any help.
I am using RoboHelp 7 and RoboHelp Server 7

Has anyone found a fix for this? I'm having a similar
problem. I have a browse sequence setup, but when I publish my
project as WebHelp Pro the forward and back buttons do not show up
at all. I'm also missing the search box next to the "Powered by

I'm using RoboHelp X5 and RoboEngine 4. This project was
originally created with RoboInfo 5, then converted to RoboHelp X5.
Both the browse buttons and search box were visible in the RoboInfo
    project.
