RH 9 - Discrepancies in Online Links

RH 9 - Discrepancies in Output/Links
WebHelp Pro, RH 9 Server, & version is 9.0.0.228
We have published a single project & found that there are two links for this project:
A) Flat file link (format is:  http://server name/path.htm)
B) Server link (format has all the components of A plus some and it has symbols & numbers(%27)
We are looking to understand why the views and functionality for each link vary.
·         In the Search tab, there is a “GO” button in (A); this is absent in (B)
·         There  is an option to set # of results per page in (A); this is absent in (B)
·         There  is an option to highlight search results in (A); this is absent in (B)
·         Search results (topics found & ranking) vary between A & B
There are also Skin variances.  Search results appear with a purple background in (A), but in (B) the topic titles are blue and the topic preview text is in black and in (A) the text for the topic title and the preview text is yellow.
Any information you can share to help us understand why these discrepancies exist is appreciated.

Hi Eva.
Your "A" link is the one to use. The other "B" link is the URL that you get when you view your help through the Web Administrator. It contains all sorts of additional information in it (e.g. window settings) that you don't get when viewed through a browser. I think I am also right that no feedback analytics are gathered when viewing using method B, but I may be incorrect there.

  • Custom Web template for the "online link" UI command

    All
We are trying to use a specific custom web template to allow personlization of reports within the Portal BI tool using the online link UI command.  After users have broadcasted their reports to their BIuserhome directory there is an online link UI command associated to the saved report.
Our one option would be to configure the web template as the default within the IMG.  But when we configured a default within the IMG, personalization of the report is not available with the context menu of the report.  We are broadcasting the reports to the BIuserhome directory.  Once the reports are saved users have the ability access the report using the online link UI command.  Since we lose personalization when we configure the IMG with a default web template, we want use a custom web template when we execute the online link UI command.
Is there a way to pass a web template parameter when we execute the online link UI command?
    Thanks in advance.

Sean McCormack has been doing a series here http://lightroom-news.com/ - seems to have stalled recently.
Also look at the SDK - link above.

  • Broadcast online link by Email : How to remove automatically inserted text

    Hello all.
It's been a month I've been working on broadcasting, and I am starting to get skilled on it , or at least, I am starting to get very precise needs ...
I am broadcasting email with online link inserted into it.
At the end of the mail body, SAP inserts the online link (which makes sense ...), on which you have no control, but also inserts Broadcasting administration link, saying (in french) :
"Le lien suivant permet à l'expéditeur de cet e-mail ou à un administrateur de diffusion de modifier la liste des destinataires : http://"
I heard you could remove it, but how ?
Did you heard about it ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi ,
Are you trying to change the language which user can understand ?? If this being the case in the receipent tab page of information broadcasting , there is a checkbox "User specific" , it takes user profile data into account and accordingly try to translate data into language which user understands.
    Hope that helps.
    Regards
    Mr Kapadia

  • 2.1.1 Start tab with online links missing

    Hello,
has the start tab with the online links been removed or is it another form of localization as in Bug 2.1: Report folders are read only ;-)
I changed the sqldeveloper.conf as in the above mentioned thread. It worked for the reports issue but not for the link tab.
    Regards
    Marcus

    K,
Its the start page. If you download a release a dont upgrade, you get a start page. Its a welcome page with some links to information which can help you get started and use the tool. If you dont have it, the help menu should have a link for it. (I just did it on 2.1.1 on macosx and its there.

    Hi,
    Checkout this
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/a5/359840dfa5a160e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
    Variable Assignment
Ignore: When creating an online link, you can make a setting on the Link Creation tab page to define that the values for input-ready variables are not set. When the recipient opens the online link, the variable screen can appear, allowing the recipient to enter the required variable values. This is the case, for example, if the variable has the setting Mandatory, Initial Value not Allowed.
Variable Assignment: You can create values for the BI objectu2019s input-ready variables (Query, Query View, Report, or Web Application). The BI object is precalculated using these variable values. These variable values are set whenever an online link is opened.
Take from Variant: You can select from a variant for the BI object (Query, Query View, Report, or Web Application). The BI object is precalculated with the values of the variant. These variable values are set in accordance with the variant whenever an online link is opened.
Variables can also be assigned from variants for workbooks. For more information about the settings on the Workbook Precalculation tab page, see Precalculating and Distributing Workbooks.
If you have selected Online Link to Current Data as the output format, the variable assignment is appended to the URL. When the recipient opens the online link, the BI object is started with these variable values.
When you precalculate a file, you can specify one or more variable assignments on the General Precalculation tab page. When you generate online links, you can assign only one variable.

  • Online Links for Multithreading C++ Application in Unix

    Hi Everybody,
I am working in Solaris Sparc 5.8 Machine. I need to implement Multithreading for C++ Application in Unix Environment.
It would be of great help if you can mention any website or online links which gives examples of how to do Multithreaded Programming for C++ Application in Unix Environment.
    Thanking you in Advance.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Vasu

There are two questions there, threading on Solaris is well documented on docs.sun.com, just search for something like pthread_create.
How you use the C APIs in you C++ code is down to you. You could have a look at boot threads for one possible solution.

  • BEx Broadbasting:  Online links for object type WB not defined

I got this over in the Portal Content Development forum but figured it would get more views here:
I'm trying to broadcast an online link to the portal for a workbook. I can publish it as a MS Excel file but I get the following whenever I try to Broadcast to portal as a "online link to current data".
"Online links for the specified object type WB are not defined"
I've been beating my head against it for several hours and know the help.sap.com links to broadcasting by heart. Anyone have any clues as to what I missed?

    Hi,
Check the transaction RSPOR_CUST01. I guess you are using BEx 7 in which case integration with the portal is a must. Check whether the settings have been maintained in the above said transaction.Let us know.
    Regards,
    Sree.

  • Broadcasting online links result in too long url

    Hi,
we want tot broadcast bookmarks to user groups as online links. The generated mail contains a URL which is longer then 256 chars and therefore cannot be used by the user via a 'one click' action. If you check the generated url, not only the bookmark is included but also a long string of chars which are related to variables in the query/bookmark.
Can we some schedule an Online link for the bookmark, and not having the additional chars in the generated url regarding the variable.
    Thanks and regards,
    Hans.

    Hi,
I think you cannot schedule only the bookmark id through broadcaster..
Check the below link..  may be u can reorganise or delete the bookmark id..

  • Controlling URL in "Email as online link"

    Hi
As standard functionality in our templates, users are able to email their reports/templates. One of the options when emailing a report is to send as online link.
The email is generated and sent through to the correct person, but the link that comes through is incorrect.
There are 2 URL's which are used to access the server
A03A005 ... this is the actual server name
BWPORTAL ... this is the url that has been registered on the internal DNS, and the one the users are using to gain access ot the portal.
A user's machine has no idea what A03A005 refers to, and is unable to resolve an IP for the hostname ... this is all as expected.
I have a system configured in the portal, and hte ITS hostname, Message Server and Web AS all point to BWPORTAL.
When the online link option is chosen during broadcasting/emailing, the email that comes through has the A03A005 address, which obviously doesn't work on the user's machine when he/she clicks on it.
Can anyone tell me where this URL, or at the least the main part of it / domain part of it, is configured ... I would like to change it and don't know where to look.
    Cheers,
    Andrew

Check Function Module RSBBURLGET and see whether it generates the correct URL.  profile parameters will have to be corrected to get the correct URL.

  • Way to avoid setting up Mail to email from online links?

I recently got a new macbook pro, and have not set up Mail yet. I do not plan on using it. When I click on any contact links online (safari browser) it does not display address but automatically sends me to Mail and prompts me for setup. I don't have transfer info for account and don't want to use mail at all. Maybe this is more of a safari question, but is there any way for email links online to direct me someplace other than mail or just display the address instead of opening mail app?
    thanks.

You don't have to use Mail and Mail can change the default email application.
    Open Mail.
From the Mail menu, choose Preferences.
    Click the General button.
Choose your desired default email application from the Default Email Reader pop-up menu.
OR you can use RCDefaultApp to change the default email client.

  • When a pdf file is accessed through an online link nothing appears although I can open and read pdf files otherwise.

I uninstalled then reinstalled Firefox 7, but still get a blank page when I click on a pdf file link. I have no trouble reading PDF files stored on my PC. I use Foxit Reader.

  • Discrepancies in Online Status in Mail

I’m having problems sending emails, similar to those reported here and elsewhere in these discussions. I have some slightly different observations that might shed some light.
    1. I have no trouble receiving emails.
    2. I do have trouble sending emails, but only with 2 of my five email accounts. All five accounts are with the same web host; bluehost, and all five are with the same domain name.
    3. It seems that over the past month I have had consistent trouble with ONLY two of the accounts and as of yesterday, one of those two is now working, trouble free, but I don't know what I might have changed. So, I’m down to one problem account. (Lucky me!)
    4. In my efforts to diagnose and correct this, I did notice one curious thing that I haven’t seen stated on this thread. Here’s a description:
If (while I’m in the Mail program) I go to the Mailbox Menu and check the Online Status of all 5 accounts, it appears that they are all “online.” It doesn’t actually SAY that my accounts are online but, rather, the only available option is to take each account “Offline.”
So, Mailbox menu > Online Status >
    The choices shown are:
    Take “Account 1” Offline
    Take “Account 2” Offline
    Take “Account 3” Offline
    Take “Account 4” Offline
    Take “Account 5” Offline
That seems to be a backward way of say that these accounts are all online.
Now, however, if I go to the “Preferences . . .” in Mail and select “Accounts” > “Account Information” > Outgoing Mail Sever (SMTP) there is a drop-down menu that show all 5 of my accounts BUT after one of the accounts I see “Offline” in parentheses:
So, the third one of my 5 accounts show as . . .
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): box555.bluehost.com:[email protected] (Offline)
Of course, I’m using bogus place holders here for the Box###, AccountName and DomainName to hide the actual account information, but I hope this is clear enough.
Bottom line: in Mail’s Mailbox menu it indicates that this account is Online; in preferences in indicates it is Offline.
Can anyone see what might be wrong here? I’ve been really, REALLY careful in setting up my accounts and rechecking everything, and I can’t find any obvious errors that I’ve made.
I suspect this is a bug in the Apple Mail program, but I have not had this problem prior to OS X 10.6.2.
Oh, by the way . . . the problem, then, is that I can’t send mail from that one account. The mail program appears to TRY to send the message when I hit Send with the pinwheel spinning. But eventually I get a Mail dialog box saying:
“Cannot send message using the server box555.bluehost.com:[email protected]
“Connection on the default ports failed." And it offers me the full SMPT Server List so that I can choose a different server of edit the server list.
Sorry for such a tedious description, but this problem is driving me crazy and it appears that I’m not the only one with this problem.

Good suggestion and I will contact Bluehost tomorrow. However, I been with them for over a year with not problems. The problem started (for me) with OS 4.6. and and/or Mail v4.2.
Will report back if I learn anything useful.
    Dennis
