RH X5.0.2 - "Cannot Find Microsoft Word installed on your system"

I've spent perhaps an hour reading the 100plus-message thread
on this issue as it relates to RH 7. Thank you for all of your work
and recording various suggestions and observations!
Might anyone have a suggestion for me, who am still using the
older RH 5? (I'm using the Windows XP Professional OS and Word
2003.)
A few thoughts --
- I see in RH, under Tools > Options > HTML Editors,
that the Word path is correct for where my Word is located. I'm
wondering, the Name in this HTML Editors list is "Word"; should I
change it to "Microsoft Word"?
- Also, would there be any benefit to removing the current
Word item from the HTML Editors lists and then adding it back?
(Keep in mind, that I'm mainly just a RoboHelp USER, and NOT
a Windows or systems expert, so I like to be very cautious when
making changes to an app, as I would not want to break anything, or
make things worse than they are now.)
Thank you for any suggestions.
Jan

Good news! I now AM ABLE to generate printed documentation
from my RoboHelp version X5.0.2 program!
The solution to my problem (I think) was that I needed to...
---> close all Microsoft Word documents <---
...before opening RoboHelp (as advised in the RoboHTML online
help topic "Generating printed documentation.") To be extra safe, I
not only closed all Word documents, but I actually closed the
entire MS Word program and restarted my computer before opening
RoboHelp.
I'm not sure whether specific settings have an impact on a
Robo-user's success, but these are the settings that worked for me:
- General page: I selected "single", and
for images, I selected "embed in documents"
- Conditional Build: "None"
- Content: (I scrolled through the list on the right to
ensure all of my topics were listed, and then I moved on to the
next page.)
- Section Layout: I made no changes
- Appearance: I kept the default "Use Project's CSS styles"
One other tip: (My colleague, Jeff, discovered this) If you
get some warning message regarding a macro issue, that probably
means that your Macro Security level in Word is set too high. To
change this setting, Open Word, select Tools > Options, click
the Security tab, click the Macro Security button, and select
Medium or Low. After you make this change, exit from Word, and go
back to RoboHTML to generate your printed documentation.

  • Need help: Cannot find Microsoft Word installed on your system.

I am having issues trying to generate a pdf from a robohelp 7 html project.  Whenever I try to generate a pdf I get the error "Cannot find Microsoft Word installed on your system."
I have tried to uninstall both Office (2003) and robohelp, re-installing office first and then robohelp, but it doesn't help.  Can anyone shed some light on this issue?

    Colum,
Thanks for the reply, but it's Microsoft Office, not Open Office.
I have read many threads here and tried most of the suggestions, up to and including:
Uninstall/Reinstall of Office and RH 7
    Adjusting Macro security
    comparing registry entries
There are others but I can't think of them all right now.  Point being, nothing has worked thus far.  I must admit this is fairly frustrating but I haven't given up yet.  Any more suggestions are welcome, and I will review the link you gave me just to make sure I cover all my bases.

  • RH9 - Cannot find Microsoft Word Installed on your system

Having just installed five seats of the TCS 3 upgrade on Laptops with Office 2010 previously installed, three of them are encountering errors when generating Printed Documentation.  RH9 throws up a error dialog - "Cannot find Microsoft Word Installed on your system"
What is the fix to have RH9 recognize Office 2010?
    Thanks,
    W.

No, the other two were using the right-click/Properties approach. When tried, the left click on "Printed Documentation" method did not find Word 2010.
Yes these were upgrades, installed after uninstalling TCS2.  Adobe claims two versions can coexist on one drive, but I also agree that is not the case.
It would appear to be a bona fide bug, but I can't believe Adobe would let something like this slip...

  • Cannot find Microsoft Word installed on your system

    Hi,
    Wonder if anyone can help...
I just tried to generate my printed documentation in RoboHelp
and everytime I try I get the error message 'Cannot find Microsoft
    Word installed on your system'.
It is installed, and when I go to Tools > Options >
Tool Locations you can see it is pointing to the right location
    (C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\WINWORD.EXE).
This is the first project I have done with RoboHelp 7.0 on
Vista- does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks

First, thanks to Wkugelman for this new initiative. I think
we are a big step nearer, but not quite there yet.

This happens to me on XP too, so there must be some other
problem. I do have adminsistrator rights on this PC. Here's what I
    do
    1) Find WINWORD.EXE and create a shortcut to it on my
desktop. I rename it to WINWORD.EXE
    2) In RH. Menu:Tools > Options > Tab:Tool Locations
    > Pane: HTML Editors
    3) Select the line Word 2003 and click the Edit... button to
    change the path
    4) I get a popup called HTML Editor with Word 2003 grayed out
above, and a path selector text box below.
    5) Now it doesn't matter whether I use the path browser icon
and navigate to my new shortcut, or whether I enter the path
manually. When I click OK I get a popup saying the path is invalid
or I return to the HTML Editor popup but the path to Word has not
    changed (it remains C:\Program Files\Microsoft
    Office\OFFICE11\WINWORD.EXE ).
Notes: It doesn't matter whether the path is on C:\ where
Program Files (with Office11 And Adobe Robohelp 7 reside), or on
D:\ where my "My Documents" directory is with subdirectory My
    Robohelp projects.
I have also played around with the two radio buttons at the
bottom of the Tool Locations tab:
    * Auto-select editor and
    * Use default editor
But to no avail. Can someone explain what these options
    change?
If protections on the OFFICE11 directory or Winword
executable are the problem, wouldn't it be simpler to loosen these
so that RH can use it?

  • Cannot find Microsoft Word Installed on your system - RH10 - a solution

I started receiving the error "Cannot find Microsoft Word Installed on your system" whenever I tried to generate printed documentation from RoboHelp 10. This occurred after I installed Open Office 3.4.1.
Clicking the "Printed Documentation" option in the SSL pod generated the error. However, right-clicking on the "Printed Documentation" option, selecting "Properties", then clicking "Save and Generate" did work. Go figure.
    I am using Word 2007.
All of these suggested solutions to resolve the problem didn't work, unfortunately.
Uninstalling and reinstalling Open Office with the correct option selected for file associations as suggested here:
    http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/printing/print_issues.htm#other_issues
Tried reinstalling the MPJ2DOC.DLL as suggested here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/robohelp/kb/error-cannot-find-microsoft-word.html
    Tried all the suggestions here:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4173839
Spent 2 hours with Adobe support (they were helpful but could not fix the problem) uninstalling and reinstalling RoboHelp, including reinstalling and registering the dll again.
Finally I fixed the problem by following the simple solution here. I found that the problem was that the Word file associations were corrupt and you simply need to reregister word.
    http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErr...gisterWord.htm
Here's the solution in case the  link does not work:
How to re-register Word when problems crop up opening files
    Article contributed by Cindy Meister
If you find that Word files do not open in the desired version of Word when you double-click them in Windows Explorer, or that when opening them from the Desktop or Explorer, a series of messages appear claiming that the file cannot be opened, such as:
    “Cannot open C:\My”
    “Cannot open "Documents\The”
    “Cannot open "Test.doc"”
.. you need to re-register Word.  To fix the problem:
    Word 97 and above
Click Start | Run (bottom- left corner of your screen).
    In the “Open“ box, type:
winword /rand press Enter. Note that there is a space before the forward slash
    Word 95
Locate the file winword.reg on your system
    Double-click it to re-register Word
Hope this helps anyone else who has struck this problem.
    Cheers Mark

I am not surprised that the DLL is crashing your system. If you read the Knowledge Base item for that file it specifically refers to RoboHelp 9. Your first step is to restore the correct DLL for Rh10. I hope you backed it up.
    What is your operating system?
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling?
Is your Normal.dot file on your local drive or on a network.
Are you generating the printed document to your local drive?
At what point does the generation crash?

  • Error message "Cannot find Microsoft Word installed on your system"

The problem occurred on RH8 (with all latest updates) on Windows Vista (SP2).
    Hi,
I suddenly encountered this error this week, when attempting to generate printed documentation, and finding I couldn't.
I found a previous very long thread and trawled through the many alternatives to try and fix the problem.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/244420
Only 2 weeks ago I was very happily generating printed documentation and couldn't understand why I was suddenly experiencing this issue.
I've had the odd problem with opening cetain file types since an automatic upgrade to Open Ofice within the last two weeks, so thought it might be connected to that. (I know (!) but I need Open Ofiice to edit docs from our non Windows users.) All attempts to uninstall and re-install RH, as well as Open Office had no effect.
Having looked at Peter Grainge's site (http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/printing/print_issues.htm#word_issues), I requested a copy of the MPJ2DOC.dll file from Peter, which he kindly sent me.
I'm extremely happy to say that this has resolved the issue.
I wanted to put a more recent posting on the forum, in case anyone else suddenly gets the same problem in a more recent version of RH8.
Thanks to Peter for his excellent site & help.

  • Error - "Can not find Microsoft Word installed.."

    Hi,
I downloaded RH6 demo to test it, but can't generate a
    printed documentation.
When I try, I only get an error message
"Can not find Microsoft Word installed on your system"
I have no idea why this happens. First, in the layout
settings I have set .pdf to be produced - DOC option is not
    checked.
Also, MS Word is installed (Office 2003), and in Tools /
Options / HTML Editors Word 2003 is listed, with a correct path to
Winword.exe (which I reselected, just in case) .
This happens on Windows Vista Ultimate edition, UAC off.
    Other layouts are generated normally.
Any idea how to fix it?
    Thanks

RH6 is not supported under Vista.
I cover this in the article I wrote for Adobe's DevNet pages.
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/robohelp/articles/get_started.html
It is also covered in the Getting Started Guide that ships
with the product. A soft copy can be found at
    http://www.adobe.com/support/robohelp/documentation.html
See also Snippets on my site where there is a reference to a
forum post about running RH6 under Vista.
When you installed RH6 did it find Word on your system then?
Did you install using your logon with admin rights attached?

  • Using RHelp 9 - Cannot Find MS Word Installed

Any ideas on how to make the connection between the 2 applications?

Colum plainly stated RoboHelp has to be installed after Word and you are asking if it should be done the other way around!
In fact it used to be the case that the order was important but I understand that is no longer the case. The version of Word you refer to though bothers me. I thought Word 2007 was followed by Word 2010. You are referring to Word 2009. Is that a full version of Word or is it a restricted version that was part of Microsoft Works?

  • Cannot find the HTML browser installed on your system

Guys forgive me if you have answered this before, I have
tried a search of previous issues TNA.
I have reloaded R/H 6 to my laptop (with full admin rights
set against my user name) everything except works except generating
in Microsoft HTML Help I get the following error when I click
Finish: cannot find the HTML browser installed on your system
Any ideas welcome. With thanks, J

    Hi JayRichard
    You might try the following.
Inside RoboHelp HTML, click Tools > Options...
    Click the Tool Locations tab
At the bottom of the dialog should be an area listing
"Browser paths". You should see one for Internet Explorer and one
for Netscape. Try clicking the little file folder icon to the right
of one of them. (Whichever browser you are using)
Navigate to and select the executable file for the browser.
    Mine for Internet Explorer says:
D:\Program Files\...\iexplore.exe (The full path is
    D:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
Dismiss the dialogs by clicking the Open and OK buttons until
    they are all gone.
Keep us posted on whether this helps... Rick

  • Error Message= x Cannot find the HTML help browser installed on your system.

Help! I cannot seem to find the solution for the error message I get when trying to generate a layout in Microsoft HTMl Help (Primary Layout). I am using the trial version, but it didn't seem to be an issue for anyone else in my class that was also using the trial version.
The error message states, "Cannot find the HTML help browser installed on your system."
    Thank you!

Sounds like a problem with the installation of RoboHelp on those machines. When you install RoboHelp, it installs the necessary files to view a CHM.

  • Oracle 11gR1 on Windows Xp Error Cannot find J2SE SDK installed at path

When I type in path for java.exe in SQL Dev. , I get error 'Cannot find J2SE SDK installed at path: C:\Program Files\Java\jre6.' when I entered the path C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\java. What is the reason for this error? How can I correct it? Database installation said it was successful

SQL Developer needs the Java JDK not the JRE to operate successfully. Your path looks like a path to the JRE. There is a windows download that comes complete with a Java Developer kit.

  • I delete my safari, and I cannot find a safari to download, my system is Mac OS X 10.6.8

I delete my safari, and I cannot find a safari to download, my system is Mac OS X 10.6.8
If you have the software, can you sent to my e-mail :[email protected]  Thank you!

Software update will only bring you up to the current level of the system you are using - you are at the maximum for Snow Leopard. To get Lion or higher you will have to go to the Mac App Store in Applications and purchase it there (Yosemite is free). You will need to check that your Mac meets the requirements and you should particularly note that PPC programs such as AppleWorks will not run in Lion or above.
    The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
Lion is available in the Online Apple Store ($19.99). Mountain Lion (10.8.x) is also available there at the same price (though it's reported to have been removed from sale in some countries so may well cease to be available generally) but there seems little point as the system requirements are the same for Yosemite (10.10.x) - which is free - unless you need to run specific software which will run on Mountain Lion only.
The requirements for Mountain Lion and Yosemite are:
    OS X v10.6.8 or later
    2GB of memory
    8GB of available space
      and the supported models are:
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
Yosemite is available from the Mac App Store (in Applications). Mountain Lion can be obtained the Online Apple Store. (Mavericks is no longer available.)
If the problem is only with Safari and you are otherwise happy with Snow Leopard you could switch to FireFox (free) - the latest version of that will run in Snow Leopard.
