RH7 search problem for Japanese version

Hi,
While I compile Japanese version HTML help files with RoboHelp 7, the Search function does not work (Searching the word in the CHM file will return "No topics found" information). I am wondering if there is anyone who have met same problem and is there any hint for it?

Thanks a lot for your reply. I have found the root cause of my problem: I ignored the three update patches, meanwhile, in Regional and Language Options/Regional Options tab, standards and formats must be selected as Japanese.

Windows Explorer Search problems for PDF's - Windows 7 - Acrobat 10.x and 11.x

I work in an enterprise environment and our systems are having trouble searching file contents in Windows Explorer using Acrobat X and Windows 7 32 bit. The files are on a mapped network location.
After removing all adobe products from a test machine and reinstalling the Acrobat 10.0.0 software the windows explorer search function seems to work locally but once I install Acrobat 10.1.anything update, it will fail. It never worked on a networked location.
I have also tried installing Adobe Acrobat 11.0.00 after removing 10.0. Then I made sure my indexing settings were setup to index files and contents and made sure the .pdf extension was selected under file types.
I then created a mapped drive to the network location, and setup my indexing to the folder on that network drive. I was able to do this by installing this Microsoft Add-in that allows use of UNC paths in the indexing.

Once I set this up, I rebuilt my index and restarted the computer. This is where it gets weird. I can now search the contents of PDF files in this indexed network location, but only by one letter. Searching "c type:pdf" will produce results, but "co type:pdf" will not. I know for sure some of the documents have the work Comment in there so this should should up.
Does anyone have experience getting this to work correctly with the latest versions of Adobe Acrobat X or XI and Windows 7 32 bit? It would be greatly appreciated.

I am surprised you got a search of contents to work in Win7. MS changed the process and I have not seen a fix as there was with XP. The search engine of Win7 was designed only to search MS documents and other designated documents from MS. For Win7, the solution is typically to use a third party search engine. I had to use a 3rd party program when I was searching the content of non-MS files. An additional issue with a PDF is that it is a binary file and you may not find text or such, particularly if encryption is set.

Problems for Japanese users with ELS

We have some (but not all) Japanese users reporting errors at the point in our startup where we read the ELS (Encrypted Local Store).
We've run a test application that saves and reads objects to and from the ELS. When reading an object we just wrote, we get an error ("general internal error"). When we read an array of these objects, we get a 2030.
The test class has only simple data types and does not implement IExternizable. It has a [RemoveClass] tag.
Any ideas?

How to turn off Check Out prompt in RH7 for VSS version control.

Using RH7 HTML, and VSS version control. Have been using without problem for 2 years. Now I had to get a new computer
set up, VSS seems to be correctly set up with RoboHelp, and asks to 'get latest' when I open a project, in the usual way.
However, each time I try to edit a topic in RH now, I am prompted to check out the topic.This should happen automatically. the RH tip that displays says:
"To turn off prompts when performing version control tasks manually, clear the option on the version control tab. Files are then checked out automatically.
Note: Files not selected in the list cannot be checked out."
this is unclear - there IS no version control tab, and which option are they saying to clear? there is a version control toolbar, and File>Version Control menu, neither of which has a 'prompt checkout' option.
I need not to check out manually every time!

Use the Tools > Options menu. There should be a "Version Control" tab in that dialog box.

Problem with phonetic guide for Japanese

When I use phonetic guide for Japanese in Word for Mac 2011 reading of Japanese characters doesn't appear right above the selected text, but on the left and separated by comma. How to fix it? Please help!

Can SES support 'Concept Search' for Japanese

Hi all,
My customer want to know whether SES support 'concept search' for Japanese.
In the following white paper, it said 'Concept Search and hit clustering supports the most common languages of Western-and Eastern European origin. Oracle plans support for Japanese,Chinese,and Korean in a subsequent release'.

My bad. I assumed that since the iTunes Store had the genre "Japanese Cinema" listed, they would have movies for sale in that category. However, it appears that a search of that genre doesn't generate any results. Sorry

Would a Top Case keyboard replacement for Macbook Unibody A1342 (US version), be compatible w/my Macbook if originally it had a Japanese version?

I bought a Macbook Unibody back in 2010, and until now the system is still working perfectly fine, probably because I keep on updating my software version, currently I am on Mac OS X 10.8.2 (Mountain Lion)...I don't have issues with it.
I bought this Macbook in Japan, the keyboard version is on Japanese (with US alphabets) becaue I was studying Kanji back then, and apparently I am now living here in the Philippines and some of my keyboard keys are lost and they were taken off by my naughty niece (LOL, couldn't blame her though... she's just 2 years old)... now I am looking for a replacement. I couldn't find Japanese version of Top Case replacements here in Manila... now I kinda realized I might as well use a US version moving forward.
Now my question is re: Top Case keyboard replacement for Macbook Unibody A1342 (US version), would it be compatible w/my Macbook if originally it had a Japanese version?

When you say that the "search bar for my iTunes library no longer works" can you be more specific? The operation of the search function has changed in iTunes 12, essentially having two very distinct modes:
when Search Entire Library is checked, entering a search string will generate a dropdown of all matching items within your whole library, from which multiple operations are available via context menus
when Search Entire Library is unchecked, entering a search string creates a filtered view of whatever your current focus is (e.g., if you're looking at a playlist the filter applies only to items in that playlist) with none of the dropdown options as in the first case

Supported pdf versions and mouse over problem for Xcelsius 2008 SP3

Have below queries regarding Xcelsuis 2008 SP3.
(1) Encountered last character truncation problem for the x-axis and y-axis labels when viewed using adobe reader versions higher than 9.0.0. Viewing the pdf doc using adobe reader v9.0.0 has no label truncation problem. Preview in Xcesius is also ok.
(a) Y-axis label - eg. No. of students. The last char [s] is truncated when exported to pdf.
(b) X-axis label u2013 when labels are oriented vertically, they are very close to the x-axis. The last char is truncated.
Please advise what is the supported pdf versions for Xcelsius 2008?
Any workaround to overcome the truncation problem?
(2) Mouseover in charts. When the series name has < symbol, Xcelsius truncates the remaining text that's after the < symbol.
Is this a limitation that < symbol cannot be used? Any workarond for this? Any document to reference on the limitations of Xcelsius? e.g. If series name is '>1 and <=2', mouse over desc becomes '>1 and '.

Hi ,,There are a lot of developments in SP3 version. But some loopholes which I caughtu2026
1. The value button/spinner is no longer supporting a cell having some formula. Also the time it is taking to load data which depends on value button/spinner as a result of change in it, is comparably very high as compared to earlier version.
2. Still there is no component like pre-load animation. So it is difficult to know weather the tool is running or not when one selects an option in some selector.
3. One still finds it difficult to work with a large range of data/complex spread sheet in xcelsius as it crashes while exporting.
4. Export to excel still needs Tomcat Web server,Java help. It is not simplified.

Search help Problem for Sales Org

Hi All ,
I have created a new 'Z' table and have a table maintenance for that . I need to attach search help for the field VKORG . I have attached C_VKORG in the table itself . But I'm not able to see any values for sales org .
I checked with the other standard table . It has the same search help but it was giving values there . I'm not able to find what the problem is .
Can you guys suggest any thing ?

ITunes Store option to search for "other versions" of songs?

When searching for music, there used to be an option to search for "other versions" of the same song -- and it seems to have disappeared. I found so many other great artists doing covers of songs! Writing to Apple Support did not produce a response. Wondering if anyone here knows?

It's too bad they took away this feature. I used it all the time to find other good versions of a song by different artists.
I previously took multiple painful steps to go back to an earlier iTunes version when I discovered that iTunes 11 dropped the "sort" feature. When I heard that the recent version allowed sorting, I downloaded it. However, when they reinstated the sort feature, they apparently did not include the "other versions" feature.
