  • On which version of RHEL OS, is Firefox 35+ browser supported?

    I have different flavours of RHEL installed, and want to Install Latest Firefox on all of these. So, I need the information, that on which version of RHEL is Firefox 35+ supported?

    Firefox does not support specific versions of the hundreds of Linux OS's out there like those mentioned at http://distrowatch.com/ but rather your OS install needs to meet the minimum package version requirements at least.

  • ACE Blade ANM 1.1 installation requirement : RHEL really needed

    Hello,
    has anyone tried to install ANM 1.1 to manage the ACE Blades on anything other than red hat enterprise 4.
    I tried yesterday on Centos (the free RHEL) and I got a strange error while running the installer. (something about beeing unable to read from `33'.)
    Also, it was on a VMWARE image, so that might be an issue too.
    Thanks

    The install scripts are going to give you hassles, as well as figuring out which RPMs to have lined up. Depending on your particular CENTOS build you might be able to figure it bit by bit, but there is no guidance written out anywhere on what is in, what is out, which to use. I suspect it would be a somewhat messy process -- If you really wanted to do it (unsupported but you wanted to anyway) then reverse engineering from a RHEL install setup is how I'd go about it. Even then, and while ANM is pretty well behaved, I don't know if there's a variation in something underlying that won't bite you down the road.
    Of course if someone else did this already and is having success, that'd be good to know too.
    Mind you I'm speaking as the product manager for ANM so my response is of course going to be stilted to the supported.
    Cheers,
    David K.

  • Crystal Reports Server 2008 V1, RedHat Enterprise Linux, MySQL, ODBC

    Iu2019m confused about connecting to an ODBC source from a report within CMC. Iu2019m a Unix guy; I donu2019t know much about Crystal reports, but Iu2019m working with a Crystal guy to get this thing working.
    <br><br>
    First, background: I have installed Crystal Reports Server 2008 V1 in RedHat Enterprise Linux (5.4), and itu2019s running just fine! Iu2019m using the included Tomcat application server, but Iu2019m storing CMS and Audit data our local running copy of MySQL (5.1.42). The RHEL install is native 32-bit (the only way I could get it to work), Crystal is storing and retrieving data from MySQL, The Central Management Console is responding to port 8080 over Tomcat, Iu2019m able to log in and see stuff, and so far, life is good.
    <br><br>
    Now, where Iu2019m stuck: the data weu2019re trying to build reports from <i>also</i> resides in this local Linux / MySQL install, and connecting to it from a report within CMC is where Iu2019m lost.
    <br><br>
    First, I successfully installed the unixODBC and MyODBC drivers in Linux. Iu2019m able to connect to MySQL successfully using the isql utility. Here are my conf files:
    <br><br>
    <pre class="jive-pre"><code class="jive-code jive-java">/etc/odbc.ini
    [DSN_NAME]
    Driver = MySQL ODBC 5.1 Driver
    DATABASE = project_web_prod
    DESCRIPTION = Project Description
    UID = username
    PWD = password
    SOCKET = /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock
    /etc/odbcinst.ini
    [MySQL ODBC 5.1 Driver]
    Driver = /usr/lib/libmyodbc5.so
    UsageCount = 1
    </code></pre>
    <br>
    Again, this all works with isql (Iu2019ve even used both a socket connection, and port 3306, in odbc.ini).
    <br><br>
    Now, our Crystal guy uploads a report into the CMC. I go to <i>Folders -> <Project Folder></i>, right-click the report I want to test, click <i>Database Configuration</i>, and check the option <i>Use custom database login information specified here</i>. I select database driver <i>ODBC</i> from the dropdown, and type in the server, database, username, and password info. However, when I try to run the report, it fails to connect.
    <br><br>
    So, stupid question, can Crystalu2019s CMC use the system ODBC configuration options? (The ones stored in /etc). Because I saw an odbc.ini file in ~crystalinstalldir/bobje/. I edited it to match the contents of my /etc/odbc[inst].ini files, but to no avail. I saw that Crystal has itu2019s own ODBC engine, but it doesnu2019t support MyODBC driver, does it? I even tried hacking env.sh to use the system unixODBC library instead of the included one, but no luck.
    <br><br>
    So, in short, my question: how do I simply get reports in CMC to connect to a MySQL data source (using ODBC)?
    <br><br>
    Thanks so much! An answer to this question will save my day!
    <br><br>

    Thank you, Efstratios, for the helpful reply!
    So, I followed the directions in the PDF file you attached, and everything went smoothly. However, Iu2019m still not able to connect to ODBC within CMC.
    Hereu2019s what I did:
    <ul style="list-style-type:disc">
    <li>Copied the unixODBC libraries over to &lt;installdir&gt;/bobje/enterprise120/linux_x86/odbc/lib</li>
    <li>Removed MySQL ODBC connector 5.1, installed MySQL ODBC connector 3.51.</li>
    <li>Edited &lt;installdir&gt;/bobje/defaultodbc.ini, added my DSN and MySQL library info as per the instructions (I have both an odbc.ini, and defaultodbc.ini, identical files, just to be safe)</li>
    <li>Tested the connection using these libraries, this odbc.ini, and isql. Worked just fine</li>
    </ul>
    So, my problem seems to be in getting the CMC to actually <i>use</i> my ODBC setup!
    Any other hints / things I could try?
    When I right-click a report, and go to &ldquo;Database Configuration,&rdquo; which connection options should I use for the report? Iu2019ve tried both &ldquo;Use original database logon information from the report,&rdquo; and &ldquo;Use custom database logon information specified here&rdquo; (using the ODBC option from the drop-down menu). Either way, if I enter in the database, username, password, and then try to run the report (&ldquo;Run Now&rdquo;), I get this message in the History: &ldquo;Failed - Information is needed before this report can be processed.&rdquo;
    Is there another place I could get a more helpful error message? Or is there, perhaps, another way I could test database connectivity from within CMC? I wish there were at least a &ldquo;Test Database Connection&rdquo; optionu2026 :P
    Thanks so much for your help!

  • 10.2.0.4 on OEL x86-64 Upgrade Path Issues

    I am performing a new installation of Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control (OEM GC). I want to want to run Oracle Enterprise Manager 10.2.04 on Linux x86-64 - OEL 4 update 5. My installation for OMS and Repository will be on one server. I will install the database separate from the OEM GC installation.
    My upgrade path is a full install of Oracle Enterprise Manager 10.2.0.3 followed by patch to 10.2.0.4. I desire to have my databases at 11g so I would have to upgrade 10gR2 database to 11g database as well. My questions are as follows:
    1) Linux x86-64 is not supported on 10.2.0.3 according to certify page. Why is OEL 4 update 4,5 not on Certification page for OEM GC?
    2) What installation instruction set should I follow for 10.2.0.3 GC on Linux x86-64? Linux x86-64 documentation following RHEL install?
    2) Oracle 11g Repository is also not supported on 10.2.0.3. Is it possible (is it supported?) for me to install Oracle Database 11.1.0.6 EE as repository for OEM GC 10.2.0.3 then only patch OEM GC to 10.2.0.4?
    Thank you.

    There is no direct full installer to 10.2.0.3 Database. Do I need to do the following:
    1) Install OEL 4 Update 5 x86_64
    2) Meet prerequisites for Oracle Db 10.2.0.1 (x86_64 - only full installer is 10.2.0.1)
    3) Patch Db to 10.2.0.2 or 10.2.0.3 (is there a reason for 10.2.0.3)
    4) Install OEM GC 10.2.0.3
    a) requires 10.1.0.4, 10.1.0.5, 10.2.0.2 or 10.2.0.3 database
    b) use ignore system requirements parameter since OEL 4 Update 5 (x86_64) is not supported
    5) I am not sure if any patches are required to OS, DB or OEM at this level
    6) Patch OEM GC 10.2.0.3 to 10.2.0.4
    7) I am not sure if any patches are required to OS, DB or OEM at this level
    8) Follow note: 467677.1 replacing OEM GC 10.2.0.1 with my version 10.2.0.3 and upgrade db to 11g
    done
    Does this look correct? Is there a more efficient way?

  • ASM in it own asm home under separate asm user

    Hi,
    I would kindly ask those who are familiar with ASM on OEL/RHEL installing it
    1. in its own asm home
    2. under separate asm user
    to look into this thread in ASM forum
    Installing ASM single instance in its own home, separate from ORACLE_HOME
    Any comment, suggestion or solution would be appreciated. To avoid duplicating threads, please make your comments there (on ASM forum).
    Thanks in advance.

  • Orion i/o test on Ramsan

    hi all,
    hope this is the right forum for this.
    I've installed orion on rhel 6 and would like to test it on ramsan drive.
    there is fresh rhel install without dbms.
    first I tested it on ssd:
    cat orion1.lun
    /dev/sda
    ./orion_linux_x86-64 -run advanced -testname orion1 -num_disks 1 -write 0 -simulate concat -matrix detailed
    it worked
    afterwards I tested on ramsan:
    cat orion1.lun
    /dev/rsXX0
    ./orion_linux_x86-64 -run advanced -testname orion1 -num_disks 1 -write 0 -simulate concat -matrix detailed
    and it gives me this error:

    so what's wrong?
    has anybody used it on ramsan drive?
    thanks in advance

    You may have run into Bug 9104898: ORION FAILS WITH ORA-27061: WAITING FOR ASYNC I/OS FAILED
    BUG 9104898 mentions that version 11.1.0.0 is working
    You did not mention which orion version you are running. The orion tool is part of the Oracle Database 11gR2 installation. I suggest to try the latest version that ship with the Database installation.

    Hi,
    RHEL 6.4 is not the supported version of RHEL, Supported version are 5.6 and 6.1. We published an article you can try if that helps.

    However if that doesn't work please try this in Supported environment.

  • Installing Oracle 11g R2 on RHEL 5.9 server

    Hi,
        I've been trying to install Oracle 11g R2 on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.9 server but have not succeeded thus far. The server meets all the software and hardware requirements for Oracle 11g Release 2 and when it also has all the prerequisite packages/ RPM's on it, when checked manually. I have set up the various kernel, semaphore and local port range parameters in accordance with the Oracle guides for installing Oracle on RHEL 5. I also followed the online guides to create the "oracle" user and set up the groups (oinstall, dba, oper and asm).
        However, when I run the installer, it shows "Failed" for all the prerequisite checks. I tried to ignore this and install Oracle but it failed at 37% and gave multiple errors, related to invoking target 'XYZ' of different files including makefile and gcc.
         I suspect that either the installer is unable to detect these packages as they already exist on our server or it is something to do around permissions to the groups. I read on these forums that it might be because of a "cvu" folder created inside /tmp that requires '777' permission but am not sure if that's what's causing our installation to fail.
         Please let me know how to proceed with the installation and guide me through this.
    Thanks.

    Hi, its Oracle 11g R2 -  2.0.3.6 .
    The O.S is Linux x86_64
    server: RHEL 5.9 (Takinga) with kernel: 2.6.18
    I've been working on this all day today and have managed to overcome the errors regarding the missing/ failed packages. I've also verified that my kernel parameters are correct; I had missed the kernel shmmni parameter yesterday.
    The installer now detects all the packages & runs till 86% when it gives the error: "error invoking target client_sharedlib of makefile".
    Kindly let me know how to proceed. Thanks in advance !

    Please help me,thanks in advance.
    Please provide me with the documentation link to install Oracle Application Server 10g 10.1.2.0.2 on RHEL5.3

    install Oracle Application Server 10g 10.1.2.0.2 on RHEL5.3
    Said that OAS 10.1.2.0.2 is desupported, you have to apply patch 10.1.2.3 to be fully certified on OEL/RHEL 5.

  • Error while installing Oracle 8i on RHEL 3.0, ORA-12545

    Hi,
    I am trying to install oracle 8.1.7 on redhat EL 3.0. Earlier i installed the same oracle i.e 8.1.7 on redhat 8.0/9.0 and it installed sucesfully. The proceudre
    i follow for installtion was :
    ####### some settings
    groupadd dba
    groupadd oinstall
    groupadd oracle
    useradd -g dba -G oinstall,oracle -m oracle
    passwd oracle
    mkdir /ora8
    cd /ora8
    mkdir -p m01 m02 m03/oradata/ora8
    chown -R oracle.dba /ora8
    ###### login as oracle. changes in .bash_profile(setting up of parameters)
    export ORACLE_BASE=/ora8/m01/app/oracle
    export ORACLE_HOME=$ORACLE_BASE/product/8.1.7
    export PATH=$PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/bin
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib:/lib:/usr/lib
    export ORACLE_SID=perfdb
    export ORACLE_TERM=vt100
    export ORA_NLS33=$ORACLE_HOME/ocommon/nls/admin/data
    umask 022
    LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5
    ##### thereafter i run installer
    ./runInstaller
    It goes smoothly and later it gives linking error. I ignore them at this stage.
    #### thereafter I apply the patch
    tar xzf /tmp/glibc2.1.3_stub.tgz
    ./setup_stubs
    #### Therafter i run dbassist and I create the db and all went well.
    When i followed the same procedure in RHEL 3.0 it goes smooth till applying patch glibc2.1.3_stub.tgz but thereafter when i try to create db using dbassist it gives me error like :
    ORA-12545 Connect failed because target host or object does not exist.
    Even if i tried to run svrmgrl it gives me error
    :ORA-12545 Connect failed because target host or object does not exist
    Could anyone help me in resolving that ? the same installation procedure works well for Redhat 8.0/9.0
    Thanks
    Harsh Bhatia

    DBCA calls svrmgrl.exe in order to make a startup nomount of the new database and svrmgrl.exe fails during the hostname resolution.
    Try to give ipaddress rather than hostname in the tnsnames.ora file.

  • Error while installing Oracle 10G Grid control in RHEL

    I was installing Oracle 10G Grid control in RHEL. Got the following error. Any idea what this means and what is the remedy?
    =======================================
    Output generated from configuration assistant "Oracle Net Configuration Assistant":
    /home/oracle/jre/1.1.8/bin/../bin/i686/native_threads/jre: relocation error: /home/oracle/jre/1.1.8/bin/../lib/i686/native_threads/libjava.so: symbol __libc_wait, version GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference
    Configuration assistant "Oracle Net Configuration Assistant" failed
    =======================================
    regards,
    Anjan

    I saw this once but I forgot how I solved it. I believe that I made a softlink to the libc.so.6 from another libc. Have a look on Metalink, becauses I've got the idea for my solution there.
