Ribbon and webpart properties disabled in publishing page Sharepoint 2013
Hello,
I have a problem with our sharepoint site 2013. I don't know how it came because it worked two weeks ago but when I go on a page and I select modify the page I cannot modify the webparts on the page. Before I had a little box on the top right and I could
choose the proprites of the wqebpart but now i have only this sign to reduce or open the webpart.
The button on the ribbon modify the webpart is disabled and it says that I have not the rights to modify it. But I am administrator...
Do you have a solution because it really disturb us in our work.
Thank you so much.
Joëlle

Hi,
Below is the scenario,
If i created any custom list and navigating to the list (AllItems.aspx) and on selecting the item, i can see controls in ITEM and LIST tabs of Ribbon are enabled in SharePoint 2013 publishing site.
If i add the same list in the home page (add web part --> select list view webpart) in the publishing site, on selecting of item, all controls in ITEM and LIST tabs of Ribbon are disabled always.
Please help me to fix this issue ASAP.
Regards,
KrishnaHi,
Thanks for your reply.
Ribbon controls (only ITEM and LIST tab) still in disabled mode even if i selected the item in the list view webpart.
Also, i have noticed the below things,
when i create a published site (default page : default.aspx) and add the list view webpart in the default page, the controls are in disabled mode on selecting item in list view webpart.
when i create a team site (default page : home.aspx) and add the list view webpart in the default page, the controls are in enable mode on selecting item in list view webpart.
Please help me on this.

Ribbon disabled on Publishing Pages in SharePoint 2013
When using a blank web part page in a Pages Library (Publishing Feature actived), the ribbon is disabled for a document web part on the page.
After adding the document web part and saving the page, I click in the document web part to activate the ribbon. Clicking on the Files tab in the ribbon display the document library ribbon but it is disabled. Clicking on the library tab also displays a disabled
ribbon.
We have been able to reproduce this in multiple instances of SharePoint 2013 Enterprise including on a client site.
This works in SP2010!
In a site pages library this also works in SP2013...
Is this a bug in SharePoint 2013 or is this working as designed in SharePoint 2013
Thanks in advance!I tried to replicate the issue by creating the page with blank web part page, but i can see the Ribbon is available.

Cannot change the properties of copied publishing page
Hi all,
I have a requirement to copy a Publishing Page and modify some of its properties including Taxonomy/Managed Metadata field. I use SPFile.CopyTo() method and everything seems to be fine until I try to update the new page's properties: they are not impacted.
Here is my code:
SPWeb web = SPContext.Current.Web;
SPFile file = web.GetFile(sourcePageUrl);
string desUrl = publishingWeb.PagesList.RootFolder.ServerRelativeUrl + "/" + newPageName;
file.CopyTo(desUrl);
SPFile newFile = web.GetFile(url);
newFile.CheckOut();
newFile.Item["TaxonomyField"] = string.Format("{0};#{1}{2}{3}", termWssId, term.GetDefaultLabel(CultureInfo.CurrentUICulture.LCID),
TaxonomyField.TaxonomyGuidLabelDelimiter, term.Id);
newFile.Item["TextField"] = Guid.NewGuid().ToString();
newFile.Item["BooleanField"] = false;
newFile.Item.Update();
newFile.Update();select the shape > Menu > Arrange > Send Objects to Background

Menu bar disabled for a PowerPivot workbook after publishing on SharePoint 2013
Hi,
I've implemented a simple PowerPivot workbook on a SharePoint 2013 site but when I select it inside Internet Explorer 11 the menu bar seems disabled (f.e., I cannot select the data refresh for the Data tab). I can use the slicers and the filters successfully.
When I select the PowerPivot workbook inside Mozilla Firefox I can use the menu bar normally.
Any ideas to solve this issue? Does it depend on the used browser?
Thanksdid you try IE's compatibility mode?

How to disable Shredded Storage in SharePoint 2013?
Hi,
My understanding is that SharePoint provide "FileOperationSettings" property to disable Shredded Storage but this property is not working in SharePoint 2013 RTM release.
Only the way they provide is modify the FileWriteChunkSize property and set the chunk size is 2 GB for bypassing the shredded storage.
Is there any another way to disable the Shredded Storage in SharePoint 2013 and store the document in database same as SharePoint 2010 does?Hi Nitin,
To override the FileChunkSize is the best way to disable shredded storage. The following powershell is one of the cleanest way to do it. Shredded storage causes some undesirable effects sometimes and disabling it in this way works pretty nicely. You can
set the chunk size to 1 GB itself ( 2 GB is not reqd).
$wa = Get-SPWebApplication http://webappurl
$wa.WebService.FileWriteChunkSize = 1073741824
$wa.webservice.update()

function InvokeSPDialog(Message, Title) {
var SplittedInfo = Message;
var PopUpTitle = Title;
SplittedInfo = SplittedInfo.replace(/,/g, '<br>'); // Or \n, depending on your needs
//alert(SplittedInfo);
var cloneModalContent = document.createElement('div');
$("#lblInformationMessage").html(SplittedInfo);
cloneModalContent.innerHTML = document.getElementById('InformationBox').innerHTML;
var diaOptions = SP.UI.$create_DialogOptions();
diaOptions.html = cloneModalContent,
diaOptions.title = PopUpTitle;
diaOptions.width = 300;
diaOptions.height = 100;
diaOptions.dialogReturnValueCallback = Function.createDelegate(null, CloseCallBack);
SP.SOD.execute('sp.ui.dialog.js', 'SP.UI.ModalDialog.showModalDialog', diaOptions);

I'm just giving the hint. Not 100% working code.

I don't know what might be wrong but I have tried everything possible I suppose.
Configuration: 1 App Server SharePoint Standard 2013 + SQL Server. On App Server, I have installed Workflow Manager as well.
Installed Sharepoint Designer 2013 on my laptop.
Before I was able to publish the workflows, but now it refuses, thwroing me the following error:
System.InvalidOperationException: Operation failed with error Microsoft.Workflow.Client.WorkflowCommunicationException: The request was aborted: The request was canceled. Client ActivityId : ac85cf9c-053a-e0db-1f47-608050559d31. ---> System.Net.WebException:

What I have tried so far:
a. Re-installed Workflow, Service Bus, Windows Fabric, Sharepoint Designer... no luck
b. Run the configuration script... -Force enabled... no luck
c. Remove WF Manager, SB, etc... Deleted all WF and sb Databases from SQL, and re-installed all icluding updates... no luck
d. Tried to run services using Farm account, still no luck.
e. All services on the Server are running as well
f. The workflow is checked that it is associated with the site collection.
I don't know what else to try... seems like I am experiencing unique issue here... please help!One last thing I can suggest - In case if you have installed CU Update for WF manager 1.0 and service bus. Some time that creates problem, [Please take backup before make any changes] -
- Clear everything, WF config , SharePoint WF setting, un register WF from SP , You can delete and recreate WF service Apps
- IISreset at WF and SP server
- Uninstall CU update for Workflow manager 1.0 and Service Bus from WF server [Control Panel - Programs - Update], you can delete all update installed
- ReStart WF server
- Reconfigure WF manager , Test WF sites , should return XML
Get-WFFarm | ft HttpPort
- Reconfigure WF at SP , Make sure should have enough free memory
Register-SPWorkflowService –SPSite "http://SPsite/" –WorkflowHostUri "http://WFServer:12291" –AllowOAuthHttp
http or https , depend on your configuration
And retest from SPD again.
Good luck:)

Site Template and webparts in Publishing Pages
Hi
I've created a couple of webparts in SPD and added these to the pages in the Pages Library (Publish). I then export the site as a template (switching publish off first) and create a new sites from the template. Unfortunately the weparts are missing from
the publish pages but are available in the new site Webparts Gallery. The Site Pages have the Webparts available but the Publishing pages dont. When I exported the SC root web I switched off publishing for the site.
Why aren’t the weparts appearing on the page created in Pages Library. Ive switched on publishing now in the new site but its made no difference. ?
I found this blog but it doesnt appear to provide a solution :http://blogs.technet.com/b/stefan_gossner/archive/2007/09/19/save-site-as-template-option-and-the-publishing-feature.aspx
ThanksAs I said, templates are not supported when you turn on publishing. That's why there is no "save site as template" link after you turn on Publishing in a Site Collection. I assume you are using one of the hacks to navigate directly
to the page that lets you save the site as a template, since the link isn't there. That will work for some sites, but clearly won't for yours. There is no workaround. Site Templates aren't supported in Publishing environments because they
aren't reliable. If you want Page layouts then you need publishing. If you use publishing then you can't use site templates.

</div>Hi,
In the “Property Mappings” of the Content Search Web Part, we can see that the Picture field will only display the value retrieved from “PublishingImage;PictureURL;PictureThumbnailURL”,
because there is corresponding column in OOTB Document Library holds the valid value of a thumbnail image for a document, that’s why documents from Document Library display no thumbnail image in a Content Search Web part.
If you want to display thumbnail images for documents of Document Library, you can add a custom Picture column to hold the thumbnail image of a document, set the “Property
Mappings” to display this custom Picture column.
By doing this, every time uploading a document to this library, setting a thumbnail image(provided by common users, not generated by SharePoint automatically) for
that custom Picture column, in the Content Search Web Part, the thumbnail image will display.
Thanks

Creating Dropdown as custom webpart properties
Hi,
I have currently created a custom string (textbox) webpart property.
I would like to add another webpart property which is of dropdown model (enum). However, I am not able to create and associate a default value.
I want to create a enum as below:
public enum _ddlPager { 10, 20, 50,100 }
And also set the default value as 10.
I have already checked:
http://www.ashokraja.me/articles/How-to-create-a-custom-property-and-set-a-default-value-in-a-SharePoint-2013-Visual-WebPart
http://www.learningsharepoint.com/2013/08/22/create-custom-webpart-properties-for-sharepoint-2013-visual-webpart/
But I was not able to add the numbers.
How to create a dropdown for custom webpart property?
ThanksHi,
Thanks for the reply.
I have tried like this, but the code has errors:

_2a = 20,
_3a = 50,
_4a = 100

public propertyPager propertyPageNumbers
get { return _ddlpropertyPager; }
set { _ddlpropertyPager = value; }
public override EditorPartCollection CreateEditorParts()
ArrayList editorArray = new ArrayList();
CustomProperty edPart = new CustomProperty();
edPart.ID = this.ID + "_editorPart1";
editorArray.Add(edPart);
EditorPartCollection editorParts = new EditorPartCollection(editorArray);
return editorParts;
public void SaveChanges()
this.SetPersonalizationDirty();
//Create a custom EditorPart to edit the WebPart control.
private class CustomProperty : EditorPart
DropDownList _ddlPager;
public CustomProperty()
Title = "Custom Properties";
public override bool ApplyChanges()
SummaryWP part = this.WebPartToEdit as SummaryWP;
part.propertyPageNumbers = ddlPage.SelectedValue.ToString();
part.SaveChanges();
return true;
public override void SyncChanges()
EnsureChildControls();
SummaryWP part = (SummaryWP)WebPartToEdit;
_ddlPager.SelectedValue = part.propertyPageNumbers;
protected override void CreateChildControls()
Controls.Clear();
_ddlPager = new DropDownList();
Controls.Add(_ddlPager);
protected override void RenderContents(HtmlTextWriter writer)
writer.Write("Items Per Page :");
writer.WriteBreak();
_ddlPager.RenderControl(writer);
writer.Write("");
writer.WriteBreak();
writer.Write("--------------------------");
private DropDownList ddlPage
get
EnsureChildControls();
return _ddlPager;

Getting error in function "Apply Changes" and "Sync Changes"
How to fix this?
