Ribbon controls don't always work in document library - SP2013

Sometimes the Ribbon controls are greyed out in my document libraries, when you press the buttons, nothing happens. This doesn't always happen though....sometimes the buttons work just fine. Other times I get "This control is currently disabled".
Also, the edit menu doesn't work right either, sometimes (again not always) the second set of " ... " in the edit menu doesn't work, you press the button and nothing happens.
Usually if I close IE and go back into the site, everything works fine for a little while then it starts happening again.
The "New Document", "Upload Document" and "New Folder" buttons seem to ALWAYS work in the libraries.
I have full control of the site and library, and this happens for multiple users, on multiple libraries and multiple site collections, not just one.
I was assuming it's an IE or javascript issue but the exact same thing happens in Chrome and Firefox.
I'm using IE 10 and Windows 7, SharePoint 2013, Office 2013.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
From your description, the ribbon sometimes is not available until restarting browser. Does refreshing the page help to improve the situation?
Please ensure there is no networking latency in the environment, and requirements are met per:

Please add SharePoint site to compatibility view in IE.
Did you make customization to .aspx page that might cause the issue?

When you say it doesn't always work, are there certain steps you can reproduce to make it work (or not as the case may be ?)
The only thing I can suggest is formatting your N95 by using the *#7370# code and NOT restoring any backup and seeing if the problem still happens - if it does you have a hardware fault and you should approach your local Nokia Service Centre.
So far from the v12 firmware thread I don't think anyone has reported the backlight not working as a known problem.

Widgets don't always work - help please!

When I open dashboard, all of my widgets appear, however, some of them don't always work. For example, I have two weather widgets for two different cities - sometimes they both show the forecast, sometimes only one, sometimes neither. Furthermore, if I remove the widget and then re-add it, it will then successfully show the forecast. If I click the little "i" and resubmit the city, it still fails. I must reload the widget for it to work. The same goes for my ESPN widgets. Sometimes they retrieve scores, and other times they are "unable," but work just fine if I close them and reopen them. Some more widgets I have problems with occasionally are the ski report, stock report, as well as my family guy quote widget. It really seems rather random when they will and won't work. How can I fix this?
i tried repairing disk permission as well as deleting the widget files in the library/preferences folder, but the same problem still occurs.

Hi Michael, have you tried navigating to ~(yourhome)/Library/Preferences and deleting the "widget-com.apple.widget.worldclock.plist" and others you are experiencing issues with? Log out and back, in or restart, then relaunch widgets and test.

Links Don't Always Work!

When I send a link in an email, it doesn't always work properly
when the recipient clicks it.
9 times out of 10 they get a "Page Not Found" error report.
yet the address in the link is good and works if pasted into
the browser address window, the odd link does get through
and works properly, but that may be only one in twenty.
I have sent myself many test messages including to Gmail and
the results are the same, but if I send the message from Gmail,
all links work as the should.
I contacted BT Help Desk in chat and got somebody in India who
after about 20 minutes gave up and reported a BroadBand problem
reported by me, but I have heard no more in almost two weeks.
I have run many AV Scans using different programmes all come up
clean, but the problem is still there.
I am using BT/Yahoo on an machine running XP Pro which was fully
up to date when the support finished.
Has anybody else had this problem, if so, is there a fix inplace?

The Create List Item workflow action does not work in document library with document template

My end goal is more complex but below is a basic example of the issue I’m having that just simply does not work.
I'm trying to use a site workflow to create an item in a document library that has a document template applied to it but the file that gets created by the workflow is corrupt and cannot be opened.
I created a document library and edited the document template by adding some text to the header and changing it to a Word docx file instead of a Word dotx file. I tested the document template by clicking the files tab in the ribbon and then clicking new
document which opens the document template in Word and allows me to edit and save the document back to SharePoint. Then I created a SharePoint 2013 site workflow in SharePoint Designer that contains a single Create List Item action, and that action creates
an item in the document library with the name field statically defined. I published the workflow and then manually start it on the site. The workflow completes successfully and when I navigate to the document library the document has been created by the workflow.
When I click on the document to open it in the Word Web App it throws the error pictured below and if I open it in the Word client application it just opens a blank document and not the correct document template.
I also tried using a SharePoint 2010 workflow with pretty much the same results. Opening the document in Word Web App gives the same error as above and opening the document in the Word client application gives the error pictured below.
Come on Microsoft creating a Word Document in a SharePoint Document Library from a SharePoint Workflow should just work! Is this a bug or does anyone have any ideas on what is causing the this issue?

I had the same problem with corrupted document - this worked for me:
1. Create a 2010 Workflow which creates the list element in a document library
(you may start this workflow from your 2013 workflow if applicable)
2. In the Create New List Item properties - make sure to set ContentTypeId to your content type
("Id for indholdstype" is Danish for "Contenttype ID")
3. Your Content Type template should be a ".docx" file - NOT a ".dotx" file...!
(I have always created my templates for content types as .dotx files - seems Microsoft wants us to use ordinary .docx files as template files for content types)

Links in signature don't always work

Hello all, new to the discussion boards. I am having trouble with my email signature's hyperlinks. At times when I am replying to an email, the links in my signature don't appear as links. When I compose email, they always look the same and work the same. It only seems to happen on replies, and not every time. Is there any reason why this is? Thanks!

Hmm …I just typed in mine and it worked flawlessly.
As for creating a graphic signature, there is a way to do that. Take a look at this topic <http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7492503&#7492503>; be sure to read the whole thing, because there are some twists and turns in getting it to work.

Levels don't always work?

I get pdfs of drawings/scans from clients and most of the time when I open them in photoshop and use levels to darken them it works. But sometimes I'll get a pdf where it will darken in the levels preview but when I click ok it goes back to the way it was. I can't see that the files are different than the files that work, I've tried in greyscale, rgb, 8 bit, 16 bit, saving as tif, jpeg, photoshop format, exporting from acrobat pro, I've copied the picture and pasted into a new file, nothing will make the levels work. They only have one background layer. There must be something different about these files but I can't figure out what it could be. I've seen this question before but no one seems to have an answer.

That's an odd one. PDFs open as bitmap in Photoshop, so there's nothing that should interfer with Levels. So long as it is an RGB image in 8 or 16 bit, and no active selections are masking out the effect.
I'm about to go out so have to rush, but try Adding a white BG layer, and copy merging to the top of the stack. Then trying a levesl layer above that.
You have already tried the first thing I would have suggested, which is duplicating to a new document. Perhaps try that with the copy merged layer. At this moment, I can't think what would be causing this, but I just Googled and I can see you are not alone with the problem.

Link's don't always work

On the member's toolbox page I have links to download pdf files. They were all done exactly the same, but only one works. I've checked and rechecked - can't find the problem. Any ideas? "Membership Guidelines" is the only one that works. . . .

Works every time for me. That is pressing "e" work exits the JVM every time.
However, I did notice that your KeyListener never works for me. (adding a System.out.println(...) statement to you methods is more useful for degugging then setting a variable to 0).
The suggestion by Petes1234 above does fix this problem for me.

Read the KeyStroke API. It shows you have to differentiate between a "pressed" and "released" key stroke. So you can have one action for pressed and a separate action for released.
You don't need to enable events, they are enabled by default.

problem. I'm not sure what version Outpost is using(and really don't care.
Purchased Novell;)) and I couldn't compare them(NCF/Outpost) due to lack of
information.
The firewalls are to being installed on all of our travelers and some of
them are not to fond of computers. Pulling the plug can not be an option. Do
you also have a problem with the site? Do you know how to "work" around this
problem with exceptions? If not, could you please ask Novell if they do?

FF10: Form fields don't always work

With my recent upgrade to Firefox 10, I have been running into intermittent problems with form fields. My cursor won't appear in them and I can't highlight text in them. Sometimes restarting my browser will fix these problems, but not always. I'd say it happens ~50% of the time.

Cp5 - TOC ticks don't always work in aggregated file

Hi all
Our courses comprise of several projects combined using the aggregator, and have reporting turned on for the button that appears on the last slide of each project. The button is configured to open the next project. With the reporting turned on the last button on the last slide, the tick does not appear in the table of contents, so it appears that the user has not completed that project in the TOC. To get around this, I have moved the reporting to an earlier button which is fine for this project, but I am annoyed that it has to be done this way.
I suppose another way would be to add a slide after the last slide and make it .1 second or something, but I don't think it should be this way.
Has anyone come across this, am I missing something or is this just the way it is with Captivate?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Items in a TOC only get ticked if all slides in that section were completed, which means that each slide must be played through to the end. So if you use a button to jump to another slide or project BEFORE the end of the slide then as far as Captivate is concerned, THAT particular slide was not completed.
The TickTOC widget can be used to work around such issues if 100% completion is essential to your needs.

Pop ups don't always work correctly

I am having problems with pop ups on some sites. I do not have pop ups blocked and I do have javascript enabled. I am using Firefox 6.0.2 on Windows XP 32-bit (I first noticed the problem with an older version of Firefox but upgrading didn't help).
To see an example of the problem, visit one of the StackExchange sites eg Stackoverflow.com (you might need to create an account or log in with Open ID). If you click on a question you should see some options underneath the question text:
link|edit|close|flag
(You may not see edit or close if you are a new user as I think these require some "reputation" to be enabled).
Clicking on "close" or "flag" is supposed to pop up a dialog asking for the close / flag reason to be selected from radio buttons. This works fine for me in Chrome or if I start Firefox in Safe Mode, but not if I start Firefox normally (even if I disable all plug ins and extensions manually).
I asked about this on Meta Stack Overflow (my question is here: http://meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/106405/close-link-doesnt-work-for-me ) but they were unable to help beyond "it's probably one of your browser settings". I've looked through all the settings under Tools -> Options and can't see anything odd.
I actually have a similar issue on an internal work web server which displays pop ups OK but they have no text in them. I can't point you at this as it's inside our firewall but I am hopeful that the resolution to the first issue will also resolve the second :-)

I have now solved this issue.
I had a "userContent.css" file in %APP_DATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\y06a2da6.default\chrome\userContent.css
which contained some pop up blocking code for iframes incorporating various strings such as "/ad", "/banner", "/splash" etc.
It looks as though the "close" dialog on StackOverflow was somehow getting caught in this. I've removed the userContent.css file and it now all works fine.

Shortcuts don't always work in pscs6/LR5

F2 key doesn't work to rename files in Lr and the B key for brush doesn't work sometimes when in PS.
Any suggestions?

It might be that you have other applications running that use those shortcut keys, or they may have been disabled in the particular workspace you are using. If you never change your workspace, that would exclude an intermittent problem.
My best guess is that another application is causing the problem. Does that sound feasible?

Reply, Forward, and New E-mail don't always work.

Can always receive e-mails, but usually can't Reply, Forward, or create New. The LOADING symbol just keeps spinning. Just below that it says "BAD USER AGENT". checked in setup, user agent is "Mozila 5.0 (Windows NT 5.1, rv 9.0.1). That doesn't make sense, my system is XP home edition.

Reset: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Note: You will not lose any data
Check your Settings > Mail. Contacts, Calendars > your e-mail account.

Q10 Text & BBM Don't always work in car. Bizarre, right?

BBRY Q10 with OS v. 10.32.680 cannnot recv text msging in car. must have this option

Quit Safari.
Go to /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/
Move this file to the Trash. PDF Browser Plug-in. (It may say Adobe plugin)
Relaunch Safari.
See if that makes a difference.
