Rich client installation package

Hi,
Is it possible to create a dedicated rich client installation package. the target users of this application rarely need all the other tools in the enterprise client package.
And this package is quite big and hard to distribute.

Hello Thomas,
multiple possibilities here.
Since XI3.0 you can pretty good script the installation. So you could script the Client Installer and select only the packages you need. Best would be to open a Comman Box, Browse to the unzipped Client installer package and rum "setup.exe -?" to see whats possible
The other way would be a 3rd Party Vendor. For example MS Management can distribute Software packages. But there are a lot of other vendors too.

B1 8.8 Client Installation

Hi,
serverside we are running B1 8.8 PL15, but when i use the client installation in the B1_SHR Folder on the Server it installs the PL10 and on fist logon to SAP it upgrades the client to PL15.
I can not find any PL15 Client Installfiles, but as i am going to change 30 Clients to 8.8 it would be really annoying if i have to install all the time PL10 and then make an upgrade to PL15.
Does anyone have any ideas where to find a PL15 Client Installation package? Or am I doing something wrong?

Hi Manual......
Upgrade your Client on the server once again so that you will be able to get the cleint on B1_Shr of PL15.
Then you can directly run PL 15 client on from server to your Client Machines.....

Some help needed for installation of rich client component runtime demo

i have dwnld the demo and also read the Instructions
And while installing it asks jre/java path and my jdk is intalled in this path C:/Program Files/Java/jdk1.6.0_27/bin/
And i have typed the same path with java.exe at the last but it its says Insert a valid path.
How can i give the correct path.
And the another question is that, i have jDeveloper 11g 11.1.1.5.0 installed with Weblogic Server, does the installation package also contains WLS or only the war file?

the file i downloaded was over 900MB. So i want to know that it contained WLS also or the war file was so big as i have WLS installed. And the compressed archive had two folders named Disk 1 and Disk 2 and the Disk 1 had an exe file and when i run the file a command prompt like windows opens. At this point the path is asked.
So to directly download the war file i searched google and i got a link to this page

Query about Webi Rich client Install through Infoview in XI 3.1

When we Install Webi Rich client through Infoview on a client box ,It Install all language packages .
Is this a default behavior (So that we can log it in Enhancement request) or It is Potential bug with Product.
If this is a default behavior ?Is there a way we can Install only one package(Say English ).

When we Install Webi Rich client through Infoview on a client box I didnt get this point why you install WebI rich cliet through Infoview?
When you intially Start Igeneral BO3.1 Client nstallation It will show you the various languages the BO can be installed in among those by default it will be in English.Please select that or any other language you wish and go next you will get your Installation done.

WIJ 20002 xml Parser Problem - Rich Client

WIS 10901 error while refreshing report in rich client

I'm facing a strange issue while refreshing a report from Rich client. Here are details
Environment: BO XI 3.1 SP3, Oracle application DB. Weu2019ve 2 BO servers (S1 and S2) on cluster and load balancer (common URL) in front.
While login to S1 with 6400 port, I can refresh report in rich client.
While login to S2 on 6400 port or using common url, during refresh gives below error u2013

Yes. Oracle 10g client installed on both application server. I've teste the universe connection from server, it's working fine.

One observation, the path of dbd_oci.dll is the BO installation directory of my local machine (on server BO is not installed on C drive). Why it's referring dbd_oci.dll from local client even in 3 tier mode?

I think the installer finds some remenance of the old SMS_MP. When looking i found some remains in IIS . I tried to remove the remains but still have the same error when installing the client. I uninstalled IIS completly. Can someone tell me where the client
installer looks for the MP version? Would it help if i installed an SCCM MP on that server and the uninstalled it (Upgrade the MP)?

Hello Kent, i ran the ccmclean.exe from the SMS2003 Toolkit. It informed me that my system was cleaned. I ran the sccm client setup manualy and found this in the ccmsetup.log

Their must be something remaining that ccmclean can't find or can' access so i ran ccmclean /mp. This did some stuff and told me the system was clean again. I reran the client setup.

VIP (Virtual IP) on a cluster env for BOBJ 3.1 and rich client

All,
I am in 3.1 where I have an installation with 1 cluster and 2 app server machine behind.
in order to load balance between the 2 app server I am using some VIP address using some sticky session.
It works perferctly when i am logging to it thru the infoview However we would like to try the same when trying to login from the rich client.
is it possible ?

If using WRC in 2-tier then it connects to the CMS and directly to the reporting DB (any DB middleware is configured on the client) so the load balancer doesn't even come into play in this scenario. The WRC can be downloaded from infoview or installed by CD.
If using WRC in 3-tier (globe shown in the system). Then it should work fine. 3-tier will need an extranet file which contains connection info so it can use the web/app to forward requests using the servers middleware. The connection server needs to be running to connect to the reporting DB.
To connect in 3-tier verify that you don't have any extranet files in my documents\my business objects documents\locdata on the WRC client. Then open infoview using the URL of your load balancer, and set your webi preferences to use WRC. Select new webi doc (this should create a new extranet file at the above location using the loadbalanced URL. Also needed for this to work are WRC installed (you should be prompted if not) and the connection server running and enabled in the CMC > servers.

Instant client installation unavailable in ODBC data sources

I'm trying to install instant client to enable MS Excel to access an Oracle database. OS is Windows 7.
After installing instant client plus the odbc package, I can't see a new entry in the odbc data sources - only the standard Microsoft sources (Excel, Access, SQL Server) show up.
There's also an Oracle SQL developer installation on my computer. Connection to the database works fine in SQL developer - so the DB does exist and it is accessible.
Steps conducted during instant client installation:
- Downloaded basic lite instant client (11.2.0.3.0) for windows.x64
- Downloaded odbc package for windows.x64
- unpacked zip file to instantclient directory
- executed the odbc_install.exe in the instantclient directory. I'm not sure if this install.exe does anything at all. There was no error message but also no confirmation or reaction of any kind.
- executing the install file from the cmd window gave me a message, that the odbc drivers were already installed. So I guess odbc_install.exe was executed properly
- setting some system variables
     1) path variable: added instantclient directory to the ones already listed in path
     2) tns_admin: new entry, pointing to instantclient directory
     3) ld_library_path: new entry, pointing to instantclient directory
- wrote an tnsnames.ora file using the connect information also used in SQL developer
- saved tnsnames.ora file in instantclient directory
- rebooted computer to activate changes
When opening the odbc data source administration, I'm only able to see Microsoft drivers for Access, Excel, SQL Server. I'd expect to get an Oracle driver option to add to the installed drivers.
Wild & uneducated guesses about what might cause the problem:
- IC is installed on E: drive. Maybe some component is expected to be saved on C: (low likelihood, many others would have complained by now)
- Win 7 often asks for explicit permission to do this or that via popup windows. Maybe the odbc-component encounters such a request ans says "Ummm....???"
Any idea, what I might try to get an oracle entry in the odbc data source list?

I'm not sure to be honest, but what I downloaded did not have a setup.exe.
Does what you're talking about allow you to connect to Oracle databases via ODBC? If so, is it downloadble from the Oracle site?

Rich Client 3.0 Error - File Lost

in rich client 3.0, a user has been working on the same .wid file for hours. after about 4 hours, the .wid seems to just disappear when user user tries to save. we can duplicate the issue every time in 3.0. in 3.1, we do not experience the problem. does anyone know of any offical bo documentation on this error, so i can pass it along?

I encountered the same error.
Using the special JDK included in the iAS installation CD solved the
problem.
The JDK is compressed in iasclient.tar. You'll need to include several JAR
files in there as well.
Of course this will not solve your problem if your requirement is as same as
mine, that you cannot use a special version of JDK.

No business layer sent back from server in Rich Client

Whenever user tries to open a universe from Rich Client, he gets this error while webi works fine for him. What could be the issue?

There are several cases for this issue to occur, as per your discussion it appears to be a user/machine specific issue
If the issue is machine specific:
Cause: SAP Business Objects BI Platform client tools was unable to make changes in the Windows Operating system registry due to insufficient access rights of a Windows user who used to perform the installation
Resolution:
Log on to the host with SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform SP04 Client tools as Windows Administrator (or a member of Administrators group)
Launch Web Intelligence Rich Client application
This will make entries in windows registry, further you will not get the error
It the issue is user specific: That is this user will get the specified error across all client machines for the give scenario
Cause:
Insufficient rights to the user/group on Universe Connection
Resolution:
Login to Central Management Console (CMC) using Enterprise Administrator.
Navigate to Connections.
Grant User/Group 'View on Demand' Access level to the Connection on which the Universe is to be created.
Login to the BI Launchpad with the user and create New Webi report.

Rich Client Login fails from Infoview but works fine if opened from desktop

Hi Friends,
When i open WebI Rich Client from my infoview (By changing the preferrance settings in Infoview), it returns an error as "Login Fails" , but if i open the webI Rich Client from my Start->Programs->Business Objects XI 3.0->WebI Rich Client , it works fine. i am not sure why invoking rich client from infoview fails, but the same works fine, if opened directly from the desktop. I have only one user "administrator" Created with no password in the Enterprise.
Configuration:
Platform:             Windows Xp
Type:                  Vertical Installation (All the servers and Presentation Layer in a single Box)
Boxi Version:     BOXI 3.0
Authentication:   BO Enterprise.
Any help in the regard is appreciated.

Windows XP is not officially supported for a BOBJ server installation. Can you consider installing BO on a Windows Server machine?

Where can i find Client software package for BOE XI 3.1

We have BOE Xi 3.1 on a server . I am looking for the client software package for BOE XI 3.1 so that it could be installed on my laptop. I looked in Service. sap.com/SWDC /Business objects portfolio and could not find the same. All i am finding in there is SBOP INTGR for SAP and i am assuming that this is the software for SAP integration kit.
Could you please point me to exact location within SWDC where i can find the Client software package for BOEXI 3.1.

Did you download the BOEXI3.1 Server Client Tools when you installed the application? If you have, you can simply run the same install package, and select "client" tools during the installation.
If you don't have the install package, you can download it from the SAP web site. You must have a login account in order to do so. The following are the steps...

-- Click on SAP Support Portal
-- Enter your S-number and password
-- You will be redirected to the SAP Support Portal (NEVER ever bookmark this URL because it changes all the time, you should bookmark the first URL I gave you)
-- Click on "Downloads" tab from the top menu bar
-- Click on "BusinessObjects Downloads" from the secondary menu bar
-- In the "Installations and Upgrades" section on the main pane, click on "click here"
-- Click on "SBOP ENTERPRISE" from the list
-- Click on "BOBJ ENTERPRISE XI 3.1" from the list
-- Click on "Installation" from the list
-- Click on "WINDOWS" (or other OS) from the list
