Rich Symbol Contents don't update properly
Hi Fireworks people,
I have a Rich Symbol in which you can type text and set a few properties. Saving works but sometimes when there are many instances of this Rich Symbol in a document only parts of the entered text are displayed on the stage. In the symbol properties the text is still there.
It looks like the Rich Symbol doesnt update properly for some reason. Is there a way to "refresh" the symbols to show the full text from the symbol properties on stage as well?
I thought by calling the applyCurrentCalues() function of the Rich Symbol, Widget.UpdateWidget or smth like that. BUt the documentation on these methods as well as other properties of the Widget Object isnt sufficient!
In some cases when many Rich Symbols with text are on stage the text is even lost. Its visible in the symbol props but wrapped in a new line(red outline in image). You cant access the text anymore and have to re-create the symbol.(see screenshot) and an error is shown (blue outline)
I guess the second problem is some sort of bug but maybe someone has a tip/trick/advice for the first problem, to update the Rich symbol.

Pagemaker is old software, it was designed for use when fonts were quite limited. It will only display the first 256 characters in a font. Modern fonts have moved way beyond this limitation. The solution is to stick with older fonts, or to upgrade to indesign. It does sound like your souvenir font could be corrupted, running font management software is a good practice no matter what program you use.

Apps don't update properly on iOS 4.3.5
Ever since updating to 4.3.5, I have a new problem when updating my apps via the App Store.
I see the badge telling me I have updates waiting, so I tap to open and then choose "Update All". I then enter my password and watch as all the progress bars start updating my apps on the Springboard.
The problem is that when they have all updated, the progress bars stay at full and still say "Loading..." for all apps. I can no longer use them. I have to shutdown my iPhone, wait and reboot, and then the apps appear to have been updated and are usable again. Unfortunately though, they are no longer associated with their correct folders and I have to go through all of them and drag them back into the correct folders, which can be really time-consuming if I'm updating about 10 apps at a go.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is it a known issue? Is there any workaround? Next time I will try doing my update via iTunes on the Mac, hopefully that will solve my problem for now.

:-JoeYou can update the device with another computer, however you will have to have your content backed up and also synced to that device. The only place to get synced content is on the computer it is synced to. Music, apps, as long as they are purchased from iTunes can be moved back, but other content cannot. Backup does not backup synced content. Also, if you were to lose contacts, or calendar, without the synced content, they would be lost. You are going to have to get a computer you can sync this info to, or you will lost content if you try to update.

My eBay pages don’t work properly. There are parts missing. The symbols on the My eBay page have gone. The £ paid sign, checkout, feedback, and probably more.
I can’t list an item, as the submit button has disappeared.
It all works fine on IE. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, but still the same.
How can I regain my missing bits please.

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed the maximum file size (1 MB).

Had a hard time all of sudden opening photos in PS via Bridge. Updated all my software and now halfway through editing a photo, my actions don't work properly. Should I remove all programs and re-install?

The internet pages don't display properly I'm using osx10.3.3, yahoo for example asks me to update, but I cant find out how, as the apple store just keeps sending back to the same page with no down load option...do i need to up date or is it just my mac
What Mac model do you have? You might be able to upgrade the OS to Tiger 10.4 or Leopard 10.5.
Even browsers for Tiger 10.4 will get the update message.
You could try a newer browser than Safari, which is obsolete, by downloading Firefox v2.0.0.20 at http://www.oldapps.com/mac/firefox.php

Dynamic elements don't render properly, twitter, facebook, etc.
Most simple webpages load just fine, but anything with dynamic content, sticky menu bars, text inputs that scroll, and other elements don't render properly. They load and then immediately disappear leaving just white space. Some sites will return eventually or load if scrolled to a certain point on the page. Other pages are fine on load but then once menus are loaded or the page is scrolled to a certain point the content disappears, only to return when the page is scrolled back to the top or the menu is closed.
For example, none of the divs on Twitter display content unless I scroll down about two page heights. Alternatively, my Facebook feed loads just fine until I start to scroll down, at which point the side bars and chat window lose content periodically. Now that I've typed enough in this text field to necessitate scrolling, I lose content if not at the top of the box. I had to stretch the field in order to eliminate scrolling.
I am running Firefox 30 on MacOSX 10.8.3. The issue does not present in Safari or on other computers on the same network with the same setup. I have tried clearing the cache, clearing cookies, updating Firefox, resetting Firefox, reinstalling Firefox, updating Flash, and updating Java.Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.

What real details do you need? I create a digital magazine using DPS with the occasional Edge oam file inserted to lift a couple of the openers. However recently, they either stutter on loading, don't load or crash the viewer/ipad. I test them in Content viewer.

Not remembering 9-slice guide placement for rich symbols
Y'all,
I'm learning to create rich symbols in the new FW CS3, and
I'm having some difficulty with the 9-slice guides. I create the
rich symbols, enable 9-slice scaling, save them to the common
library, and generate the accompanying JSF file. Then I drag the
new symbol onto the canvas, double-click to edit it, position the
9-slice scaling guides, and click DONE. The rich symbol now behaves
properly for all instances in the current document.
However, when I open a new document and drag the rich symbol
onto the canvas, the position of the 9-slice guides has reverted to
the default placement. The positions that I defined for the guides
in the previous document do not seem to be saved with the master
rich symbol.
I've looked at other rich symbols (that come with FW CS3) and
see that the scaling guides are clearly positioned and that those
positions are remembered and stored with the master symbol.
How do I get FW CS3 to remember the placement of the 9-slice
scaling guides for my custom rich symbols so that I do not need to
edit and place the guides EVERY time I open a new document? I've
tried to look through the help documentation, and I've searched
online and the forums here, but I haven't found any instructions
for creating rich symbols that remember the 9-slice scaling guide
placement.

When you define the 9-slice guides for the rich symbol, they
are only applied to the symbol instance(s) in the current document,
so you need to go to the Assets > Library panel, select the rich
symbol, then go to the options menu and choose "Save to Common
Library", then browse to the rich symbol filename. You will be
asked if you want to overwrite the existing symbol file, and yes,
you should. The placement of the 9-slice guides defined as defined
in the current document will now be saved to the rich symbol master
file, and the placement of the guides will be preserved and used
for future instances of that rich symbol in new documents.
Seems kind of odd that there are multiple disjointed steps to
create a rich symbol: draw it, save it, define the JSF script, save
it, define 9-slice guide placement, save it. If I check "Enable
9-slice guides" when I save it initially, shouldn't FW CS3 insert a
step asking me to define their placement before I save the rich
symbol to the common library?

My new iPod has been updated. I was pushed into it. So then I thought "it could use one it could improve it". I read as much as the terms and conditions as I could read that was understandable. And now it's been less then two days and my iPod is now practically useless. Don't update your iPod. It was the only good thing I had. I pleded and pleded to my parents for weeks and save up for weeks to get one. And now it's not even a year old and I've lost it. I can't afford to get a new one. And I can't afford to loose this one. i worked hard every day all day For months to be able to even get a quarter of what i needed. And my parents agreed to pay for the rest and it was my Christmas present. i was extremely happy. It's the best thing that I have and I've lost it because of an update Apple pushed me into. Now they won't help me.
my iPod is freezing every 5-10 minutes for long periods of time. It is:
freezing
the keyboard board is lacking severely
lags through out ipod
i cannot play games as it lags then freezes.
my screen is pressing where I don't press it.
it becomes very excruciatingly slow
I Cannot write to fast or it freezes and i have to re start
Im not getting told when I have notifications (such as emails)
i cannot use facebook, games, Safari. Email, messenger and a few others with out my iPod crashing.

I have logged in to my itunes account on a different computer and none of my purchased music is showing up. I also have plugged my iphone in to get updates but it says I will lose all media and apps if I don't update on the computer where I sync everything. I have authorized this new computer so I don't know what the problem is. I can't get on my old computer with my itunes account because the computer is broken. Not sure what to do

Correct. it does not magially appear in other places. It will only be where you put it.

Correct as well. Iphone will sync with one computer at a time. Syncing to another will erase the current content.
You need to copy everything ( itunes library/contacts/pics/calendars/files/docs) from the old computer, or your backup copy of the old one, to the new one. -

I have looked into the specification ISO/IEC 29500-1:2012 and i understand that the attribute Target for the element Relationship can be set to NULL at times(Empty header and footer in the specification).
Now, i have stumbled on Target being NULL also when inserting a diagram into a word document. For example:

The relationship in question is associated with the externalData element (ISO/IEC 29500-1:2012 §21.2.2.63). For the other two charts in this document, the corresponding relationships are of the other allowable form:

For charts 1 and 3 in your document, the data can be edited via the Chart Tools ribbon control. The option to edit data is not available for chart 2. The data used to create chart 2 is the same default spreadsheet data used for chart 1, and in fact the spreadsheet
references are still present in the file format, despite there being no apparent link to a spreadsheet for chart 2.
Thus, it appears that Target="NULL" in this context means that the chart is not associated with an external data source. The specification doesn't have much to say about the semantics of the Target attribute (ISO/IEC 29500-2:2012 §9.3.2.2) beyond
the fact that it be a valid xsd:anyURI, which the string "NULL" is.
It looks like there is some unexpected interaction between the chart and the content control. I don't think the file format is the issue. You will probably need to pursue that behavior from the product perspective via a support incident, if that behavior

Script to insert an existing Rich symbol throws error
I have an existing Rich Symbol called RSymbol. Now I write a script to place RSymbol into a certain layer which create. The problem is, that everytime i import a symbol like this with
fw.getDocumentDOM().importFile(fw.appSymbolLibrariesDir+"RSymbol.graphic.png", {left:136, top:108, right:136, bottom:108}, false, 0, false);
Fw doesnt import the properties for this symbol and throws an error "Component graphic or script edited An error occured"
I also tried to put the rich symbol in the appSwfCommandsDir but it didnt work either. I guess the problem could be that the RSymbol isnt in the Common Library folder. appSymbolLibrariesDir doesnt point to the common library folder but to some other folder (Adobe Fireworks CS5\Configuration\Libraries).
I also tried to use fw.getDocumentDOM().importFile(fw.appSettingsDir+"/Common Library/... but it doesnt work either.
I want to use this script in a panel so I cant hard code the absolute path.
Any suggestions how to import a rich symbol and make the rich properties available?

The best I could do was to insert the symbol in a way that if you had already dragged that symbol from the common library into the document, the new instance would still show something in the symbol properties panel. Here's the code that QuickFire uses to insert symbols:

Why won't rich symbol properties show when the .jsf file exists?
In FW CS4 I've created a rich symbol via the "create symbol script" command, then I reloaded my common library, and put the symbol from common librray on a page. Even though I have a .jsf file in C:\Documents and Settings\<user>Application Data\Adobe\Fireworks CS4\Common Library\Custom Symbols to match my symbol, there are no symbol properties available for it on my page.
I can use the create symbol script command again on this symbol & it comes up with the same properties I had already defined.
What would stop symbol properties from showing up when the symbol is taken from a recently reloaded Common Library & placed on a page?
I've discovered that I can see the properties when I use this symbol in a totally brand new Fireworks file, but I can't in an existing file that ever had that same symbol before, even when I tell FW to "Replace the existing item."

Message was edited by: oic.nowSolution Found: I had to explicitly delete the existing copy in my orginal FW file even though when I used the one from the common library I told it to "Replace the existing item" I guess the replace doesn't really work for rich symbols. After I deleted the symbol with the same name from the document library & pulled in the one from Common Library, it showed its rich symbol properties.

TOC stopped updating properly...
Hello - I'm having an issue with my Table of Contents. It has stopped updating properly. I have a 90+ page manual where I had the TOC working fine. I have been saving revisions of the manual when edits were made. The issue is that when I go to Update TOC, it clears the entire TOC of all the headings for the main body content. It keeps the "title" and the "Index" heading which happens to be the last entry for the TOC (this heading/page is not threaded with the rest of the main body).
I went back and looked at TOC for previous revisions, and I changed something 2 revisions ago and since then the TOC stopped working. The only significant format change I can remember is that the TOC originally was not threaded in with the main content of the document. Looking back a couple of revisions ago I had gone in and threaded it to the main body of the document. By the time I realized there was an error occurring I had saved yet another revision. But in this last revision I went in an unthreaded the TOC from the rest of document but it did not correct the issue. Needless to say, I have made several edits within the document that I haven't necessarily tracked (grammer, spelling). So going back several revisions to the properly working TOC would require re-edits of that revision....something I'd rather not have to do.
I'm using 3 levels of Section Headings/Paragraph Styles in my TOC --- and i've gone into the main body and those headings are still properly set as their respective paragraph style. I've even tried creating a completely NEW TOC in my latest revision with just one paragraph style and nothing comes up in my TOC. Its like nothings there or it can't see the tagged style in the document, but I know it is there.
Any ideas? Please help.

I knew through my back revisions it was a threading issue. So I followed the above poster's advice and I basically CUT my entire manual and then deleted all the empty pages. Added 2 pages back and then pasted my content into those pages. Tested the TOC and when it asked me If i wanted to include overset text I knew I'd fixed it and that it was looking at all the headings. The whole content came up just like its supposed to. Then I added 90 more pages and expanded the thread back. All seems to be good.
Do NOT put TOC in your threaded story. Not cool. I had it right at first and then put it in there ---- that's what screwed me up.

The Proximity sensor don't work properly of ios4
hello! ive just update to ios 4 on my 3gs, and the problem is that the Proximity sensor don't work properly, when I put the iPhone near my ear it turns off the screen, but when I move it back from my ear it doesn't turn on...
i tried to restore, and at first the problem was gone, and now it's back...
is it a bug? I'm pretty sure my sensors are fine..
tnx!I was having the same issue with my new iphone 4 with screen going dark when I lowered it during a call & not having access to the call or controls of the phone. I discovered the problem was the 3G case I was using on my iphone 4 (it happens to fit pretty well). When I removed the case the proximity sensor now seems to function properly. The 3G case must have been interfering with the sensor. I guess I'll be getting a new case. Hope this helps.

Error Installing iTunes 12.1.1 update
Keep getting error "Key not valid for use in specified state" when installing 12.1.1 update. Anyone know how to resolve this? I have removed and reinstalled the current version in case some files were missing, but that did not help.
