Rich Text Editor for Content Editor WPs (MOSS 2007) disappears using Office 2013/Win7/IE 11

We've upgraded our computers to Win7/IE 11 but now when I try to edit our MOSS 2007 Content Editor Web Parts, the option to choose either the Rich Text Editor or Source Editor is gone, and all I get is a tiny HTML window. What do I need to do to get back
the Rich Text edit option?

Glad that it worked. One thing you need to be aware of Compatibility View is that it adds the entire domain to the View not just the URL. So if your website is
http://sample.mycompany.com it adds entire mycompany.com to the list.
This implies if you have another site in the same domain http://onemoresite.mycompany.com , then Compatibility View is applicable even for that site. This might cause issues if your other 'breaks' when
rendered in Compatibility Mode.

We have an installation of MOSS 2007 enterprise in production right now with sql server 2008 SP3 and Nintex workflow 7.
We need to migrate and upgrade to Sharepoint 2013. What system specifications we need to upgrade to sharepoint 2010 and sharepoint 2013.

A third party tool carries the advantages of being free of infrastructure requirements. If you don't have the budget for this, than you'll need to "double-hop" from SharePoint 2007 into SharePoint 2010 and then onto 2013.
The jump from 2007 to 2010 is likely to be the most painful. As John mentions any customisations and third party additions to your MOSS farm will need to be addressed as well.

Search not working in site collections migrated from MOSS 2007 to SharePoint Server 2013

I have few site collections migrated from MOSS 2007 to SharePoint Server 2013 using database attach (first to 2010 and then to 2013).
When I search for anything in these migrated sites, I get "Nothing here matches your search".
Checked the crawl log for these sites and see this error for all items.
The content processing component failed to process the security descriptor of the item. ( The input ACL is invalid (1210 / 2072).; ; SearchID =
Some-Random-GUID )
Search works fine in newly created sites in 2013 environment.
Please help.

Upgrade the existing Moss 2007 licence to SharePoint 2013.

Our customer is using the Moss 2007 enterprise version with 500 CALs currently. They want to move to SharePoint 2013. I need to purpose the migration cost.
I am wondering -
does it possible to upgrade the existing Moss 2007 licence to SharePoint 2013.
Do customer has to purchase new licence?
Will existing licence help in any way if new licences are required?

Please check if your issue is the same as the following article cannot use Rich Text Editor in a CEWP on a Vista client, if yes, you can install the kb 941204 hotfix for your SharePoint 2003, then check result again.

Editor for ASP with syntax highlighting? (I use Bluefish)

Is there a decent, simple (or not-so-simple) editor for ASP code? Or, is there a way to get Bluefish to highlight ASP correctly?
Don't suggest VIM. I love it, but I haven't learned the intricacies of it yet.

I have a site collection in MOSS, a site has a document library with OOB Approval workflow, and the library has documents too.
Now, I have requirement wherein I need to move the documents from Moss to SP 2013, and the document should persists the workflow state whatever was existing in MOSS.

ou cannot upgrade directly from the server products in the Office 2007 release to SharePoint 2013. The changes between versions are too great, and the hardware requirements differ so much between versions that a direct upgrade is not possible
or supported. However, you can perform a series of database-attach upgrades to first upgrade your content to SharePoint 2010 Products and then to SharePoint 2013

How do you implement basic text markup for content? H1, H2, ul, ol etc?

Thanks for that, I think I've misunderstood who the software is for?
I'll post to the features area but if nobody was thinking about content markup during development and testing of the software, I'm not sure anyone is going to appreciate it!
Even print designers (I have 20+ years in print and 8+ years coding) understand the importance of styles in InDesign so I'm not sure what's gained by hiding such a fundamental aspect to the internet. We're finding that our role is more about content design and less about "Website Design" per se.
e.g. if you hid all the content on the Apple site, all you'd left with would be a bunch of lines, and light gradients - and that's true for most sites. Content truly is king.

Is there a self writing text tool for iBA or do I have to use After Effects?

I am authoring a book that uses a lot of text examples—the idea is to have the examples as interactive text that self writes and highlights the important parts of each example when touched. Problem is that most self writing uses Flash so that is out and AE is horrible to use for more than one or two examples and I have thousands. Is there an easy solution or tool for iBooks Author to achive this easily?

Obviously I did not phrase the question correctly or you don't inderstand what self writing means.
The iBook is complete with all text in place. However, I want to present some example sentences as self writing sentences so that when a reader touches an example, it self writes in situ with important word or characters highlighted.
So for example, if the reader touches the sentence:
The quick brown fox jumps over the lazey dogs.
The sentence disappears for a second and self writes word by word in situ but with the (incorrect) e in lazey highlighted as
The quick brown fox jumps over the lazey dogs.
Is that clear?
And more importantly, is there a tool, plugin, etc., to achieve this easily in iBooks? I know how to do it with flash and After Effects but the many thousands of examples to process makes AE a nightmare.

Invalid XML returned for a user's Master Category list using Office 365 and EWS API (C#)

Having a problem with one user's Master Category List. The Xml returned by the UserConfiguration call is corrupted (see below - superfluous /categories tag!) It is fine for other users.
Wondering if anyone has seen this before?

If its only one user then its probably unlikely that EWS is at fault and what is happening is because its been corrupted in the MAPI property for Master categories list. (eg from the looks of some of the entries "Synchronised with Infinity" there is a third
party app they may have modified this list ?). Exchange doesn't validate what you try to post to that property so if something has posted bad data then that's what you'll end up with.
I would suggest you open the Master categories list in MFCMapi see
http://blogs.technet.com/b/outlooking/archive/2010/05/14/useful-tools-while-troubleshooting-outlook-issues-3-mfcmapi.aspx and verify what's in the property. If it looks okay in a MAPI editor and bad in EWS then it maybe a bug but you need to be able to
reproduce it with other users, more then likely you just need to delete the Master Caterogies list and start again for that user.

Rich text editor Issues in Experience Manager

Hi,
We are extensively using rich text cartridges for most static pages. We usually copy entire html content into the rich text cartridge source.
It was seen that after saving the content, the editor formats the HTML tags.
For example:
<a href="#">

<div class="normal">Overalls</div>
</a>
gets converted to
<div class="bold">
<a href="#">Tomboy</a>
</div>
<div class="normal">
<a href="#">Overalls</a>
</div>
Please let us know if anyone has faced similar issues and the fix for the same.
Oracle Endeca 3.1.2 is used for the above example.

Their product is shipped with a Java Bean that you use like any other one. You put the JAR file in your /forms/java folder, add it to the archive and archive_jini tags of your /forms/server/formsweb.cfg file, then you add a Bean Arean to your canvas, filling its Implementation Class with the name of the main Java class.
You have, then methods to set and get the corresponding text in a HTML format.

Adding custom buttons to the Rich Text Editor in CQ

Hi,
I have added custom buttons to the rich text editor in order to allow our editors to add specific content, such as popovers, custom videos and other data necessary data.
I have successfully modifed the Rich Text editor so, that it includes the custom buttons in the actions panel.
I have also managed to make the buttons work and include the data where necessary, when user highlights the text and clicks on a certain button.
The last bit I am struggling with, is the visual feedback we give to the users when this text has associated action with it.
E.g. when we select this text and make it bold when we click on the word B the button B becomes highlighted in the actions panel, later when we continue typing our text and click again on "bold" the letter B becomes highlighted again.
Is there any button related callback/method I could overwrite to add this functionality and make my button highlighted ?

Essentially the first step is to extend the CQ.form.rte.plugins.Plugin in your custom button.
Then during the UI initialisation we create our "custom"

BIP EBS ed. using Rich Text in CLOB?

I have a custom region storing rich text in a CLOB field. I want to use BIP to report the rich text. Is this possible using the non-EE BIP? I only have access to the BIP edition that comes with e-business suite.
I have a report that is working before I add this new CLOB field, but when I try and output the CLOB field ( which contains copy/paste rich text from a MS Word document ) I get the following error when it attempts to create the "data" .xml file:

Contacts and Rich Text

I'm using the Oracle connector (latest version) and Outlook 2003. Can't turn off the rich text option for my contacts. It forces rich text to all my emails even to those who can't read it. I tried clicking on the email address, but it won't store back nay other option than use rich text. Any ideas?
