  • Asynchronous visual webpart for SharePoint 2013

    HI,
How to create asynchronous visual webparts in SharePoint 2013 (VS 2012) . I can see lot of examples for 2010 version, but not for SP 2013.
I have 2 visual webparts, which I want to make it as a asynchronous webpart. One webpart has the code written in Javascript client object model(loads lot of images), another is a server side webpart which has a SPGridview.
Is there any sample code available for SP 2013?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Please try to convert the SharePoint 2010 project to SharePoint 2013.
    http://sadomovalex.blogspot.kr/2013/02/convert-visual-studio-sharepoint-2010.html
In SharePoint 2013, we can create a visual web part, then we can use jQuery Ajax and REST API to achieve asynchronous data loading.

  • Websites don't open in new tab on SharePoint 2013 pages

    Hello,
I have Open in new tab checked in the page editor for a link on SharePoint 2013 page.  When the page is published, the link does not open up at all.  I have to do a right mouse click and select "Open in a new tab" manually.  I am
    using IE 11.
Anyway there could be something to get this to work with IE?  When use the page in Google Chrome, the website opens up in a new tab.  Not with IE.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Paul

I am editing links on a webpage on a SharePoint page. I am in the content management system on SharePoint 2014. I have check out the page and in the editing mode. I have highlighted a link on a page and can edit the link. There is an option to select
"Open in a new tab".   This is an internal SharePoint site, our intranet.  Client OS are Windows 8.1.
I have read that it could be the Pop-Up blocker or the  Protect mode for intranet. I will check those out.

  • Any suggestions how to display iframe of sharepoint 2013 page in 2010 page?

Any suggestions how to display iframe of sharepoint 2013 page in 2010 page?
    keren tsur

SharePoint by default includes the HTML header X-Frame-Options:SAMEORIGIN which only allows content within iFrames from the same page host.
    You can add
    <WebPartPages:AllowFraming runat="server"
    />
to the SharePoint 2013 page to allow it to be used in an iFrame.

  • View containing custom column works in SharePoint 2010 but crashes webpart in SharePoint 2013

First off.. I am using SP FOUNDATION.  Secondly, I'm linking a contact library from a parent site to a view on a sub site. This works in SP 2010 but when I tried to duplicate it in our new SP 2013 site, it doesn't.
Reproduce steps to add Parent Contact Picks to Blog Sub-Site in SP 2010 (Foundation)
In parent site, create a contact list (add some people)
In parent site à Site Settings
à Site Columns … create a new Column of type “Lookup”.
Set the Information Source to the Contact List in step 1 with its Column = “Last Name (linked to item)”
    Create a BLOG sub site
    BlogSite à Site Settings
    à Site Libraries and Lists
    à Posts
à Add from existing site columns …. Select the Lookup column you created in step 2.
    BlogSite à Site Settings
    à Site Libraries and Lists
    à Posts
à Create View à Standard View….Create a new view and select ONLY the lookup column from step 4.
Add a new Blog post and while in the ‘New-Item’ form, make sure to select a person from the Contact list.
Open up the details page of the new post so that only the single post shows. Edit the Page and Insert a New Web Part
    à Lists and Libraries
    à Posts.
Edit the newly added web part and change its view to the one created above in step 5.
Drop the down arrow to the right of the newly added web part’s title and select Connections
    à Get Filtered values From
à Post [1] (or whatever the default Post Web part is called). Set both the “Provider” and the “Consumer” field names to “ID”.
You will now see that whenever you open the “Details” page of any blog post, you will see the Main post (aka the original form), the normal “Add Comment” entry web part, AND
the new web part that show the Contact selection specific to that single post. Clicking on the Name of the contact will actually pop up the details from the parent site.
    SharePoint 2013 (Foundation)
Now perform the exact same steps in SharePoint 2013. However you’ll notice that Step 8 above appears to work but as soon as you try and edit that web part again or move on to step 9, the newly added web part states “Unable to display this Web Part. To troubleshoot
    the problem….. Correlation ID: 52d36c9c-e7a2-509e-1d60-3df1ce53ce2d”.
Followup: In doing some testing I determined the following..
1 - If I adjust step #5 as to NOT select the new linked column.. it works. Oddly however, the new view works when are you just using the view by itself (/site/lists/Posts/NewViewname.aspx).
2 - I can fix the crash by enabling the 'Server Render' option on the WebPart. This actually now shows my information however the linked field is no longer a link.
3 - As long as it's not a Lookup type column, I can follow the same process and do not need the Server Render option. Of course these other types are not live links.
Seems like a bug to me.

I set "Breakline" hidden because I don't want to show this in create new item form.
I realized that may be the reason. So changed the column to Optional in CT and created a new calendar using that CT. then at list level CT I changed it to Hidden.  That works.   The column is available for use when modifying view.
    Thanks

    Hi,
In the “Property Mappings” of the Content Search Web Part, we can see that the Picture field will only display the value retrieved from “PublishingImage;PictureURL;PictureThumbnailURL”,
because there is corresponding column in OOTB Document Library holds the valid value of a thumbnail image for a document, that’s why documents from Document Library display no thumbnail image in a Content Search Web part.
If you want to display thumbnail images for documents of Document Library, you can add a custom Picture column to hold the thumbnail image of a document, set the “Property
Mappings” to display this custom Picture column.
By doing this, every time uploading a document to this library, setting a thumbnail image(provided by common users, not generated by SharePoint automatically) for
that custom Picture column, in the Content Search Web Part, the thumbnail image will display.
    Thanks

  • Upload wsp file and configure webpart in Sharepoint 2013

    Hi All,
I have a WSP file which has custom webpart built from VS 2013.
Now I need to upload WSP file and add that webpart in the site I have created.
I have gone to Site settings--> Web Designer Galleries --> Solutions and uploaded Solution.
    Then activated.
But when I go to Site settings--> Web Designer Galleries--> Webparts and go to 'New' , I am not able to see that webpart!!!
    Regards, Shreyas R S

I assume it is not a Sandbox solution and it a full trust solution. Try below:
    Remove that webpart
    On sharepoint server type
    add-spsolution
    path of file e.g. c:\132.wsp
Then from central admin > systems > farm solutions > select the wsp and select deploy
Once deployed it has reference in web.config which did not happened in your previous case.
then you can follow same process of activating the solution and adding it to page

  • Can't edit/modify webparts in SharePoint 2013

    Hi there,
I am the administrator of a SharePoint 2013 site.
I am currently customising a main /customers site to aggregate info from all sub-sites I will create under it.
First step I did was to remove the default webparts included with the default Team Site template.
What I am trying to do now is add a sitemap webpart to the main page of the /customers site that will allow users to select a customer from the list of sub-sites.
The issue I am experiencing however is that no matter which web part I add, I simply can't seem to be able to edit it. I can add/remove webparts but I can't change their title and set their properties, or add content to them.
I wasn't responsible for the deployment of this SP site so I am at a loss here. Could someone please advise?
    Regards,
    P.

I am not getting any errors at all and I am using IE 11.
The site is acting as if the issue I am experiencing is 'by design' -- as if I have permissions to add and remove webparts, but not to edit them!

  • I can't insert access application to sharepoint 2013

When i try to insert access aplication to my sharepoint 2013 site - it start to add but in the middle i get error "Sorry, there was a problem when adding the app. Click to try again" and it doesn't work why? thanks in advanced Limor

    Hi limlim1975,
Based on your description, it seems the Access Service not configured properly in SharePoint 2013.
I suggest you follow the steps below to make sure the Access Service has been configured properly:
    1. Configure Isolated App Domain.
    2. Configure SQL Server 2012 for Access Services 2013.
    3. Configure Access Services 2013 in SharePoint Central Administration->Manage Server.

  • Create custom Edit button for list on SharePoint 2013 page

    Hi
I have a custom list which holds contact information such as name, telephone, address.  I am displaying the custom list webpart with using a custom view on the site home page which only shows name and telephone.  It should only
have 1 item so 'New Item' is not needed.  However I still need to be able to edit the item.  If I click 'Edit' on the list view on the home page, it will open a quick edit box only showing name and telephone.
How can I create a custom button on the home page that will open the custom list item form instead?  Therefore all columns will be editable and I can remove the "New and Edit" toolbar from the webpart.
    Marc Collins www.QGate.co.uk

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to open the custom list item form.
Per my knowledge, there is out of box method to achieve it.
After you insert the web part to a page, you need to edit the web part and change List Views as below, then it will remove the "New and Edit" toolbar from the webpart.
In the page, if you click the web part , the ribbon will appear. After you select the item and click Edit Item, the edit form with all fields will be displayed.
    Thanks,

  • How to Set Item limit for Picture library Slideshow webpart in SharePoint 2013

Picture library Slideshow webpart is using the default view "All Pictures" and if I set a filter condition in the view, the images are displaying based on it but if I set an Item limit as "5" or any number in the "All Pictures"
view it is not reflecting in the slideshow webpart.
Any suggestion would be a great help as the users want to see only the latest 5 images in the slideshow webpart.
    Thanks & regards,
    Asha

I don't think so there is any way to set a item count limit on Picture Library Slideshow web wart.
Web Part setting only allows to provide library and View, In List view also you can only set Item Limit to be shown on the 'List View'. Slideshow web part take all the items in the list and show, view is only used to provide which field needs to be shown.
    There could be 2 options:
    - Write a JavaScript to limit the count, and in the view add Sorting by 'Created' date. You can get some example on how to modify "Library Slideshow web part" javascript here: http://blog.vgrem.com/2013/04/27/beyond-the-slideshow-web-part-capabilities-in-sharepoint-2010/
This link does not have solution of what you want, but it gives a very well idea on what you can look and modify. It will not be that straight forward for sure.
     - Create a custom webpart, it could be a easier approach. As there are many slideshow Javascript library present, and through code you will just need do a query and pull data from library with required number of items to be shown.

  • Changing the Custom Properties of Custom Webpart in Sharepoint 2013.

Am working on a requirement , where i need to create a quick poll , for that i am using some Third party webpart,
http://www.amrein.com/apps/page.asp?Q=5755    , this is the link of that Polling webpart , where the source code is not available.
Question : where by default we have to open the edit properties of that webpart in UI and then can configure those properties. But am facing a requirement like there should be UI with textboxes ,like in a form view in a page itself , and
after if we could enter those details, guess there is a button in a name " create a poll" ,
So in a click event , i could add this third party  webpart to the page and now i need to change the custom properties based on the values we enter in the textboxes , how i can access the custom properties after if i got the instance of the that third
party webpart in a page using splimitedwebpart manager programmatically....??
Any One can guess this scenario...??

    Hi,
If you use Third party web part, I suggest you contact the author of this web part to extend some custom requirements.
From your description, my understanding is that you want to create a quick poll.
Here are two solutions from codeplex with the source code for your reference. You can refer to the source code and customize your own solution base on your requirement.
