Ricky Gervais Podcast on Older iPod problem

I'm on a A1019 (one of the first generation ipods).
Have had ZERO problems with it, except for this Podcast (The UK ricky Gervais) one. It seems to skips every episode and then goes on to play the next thing that isnt Ricky Gervaiss.
Now, here's the weird thing: No problems of ANY kind with Any other Podcast (including ones that are "Explicit" eg scott Siglers). Ricky Gervais one also plays just fine in iTunes...
Anyone else have this problem - I've seen vague mentions to some people having problems, but nothing really useful. My iPod works just fine, apart from on this one podcast. My guess is some internal tagging that is broken on my rev of the iPod, but this is SO annoying.

As this is a user-to-user forum you don't get feedback from Apple.
If you don't get replies, the readers of this topic obviously just don't know the answer.
I downloaded a few episodes and they play fine on my even older iPod (1st gen. 5 GB scrollwheel model).
Podcasts are not downloaded from the iTMS, but directly from the website of the podcaster.
Try downloading the mp4's (or mp3's) directly from their website (http://www.guardian.co.uk/rickygervais) and see if they play on your iPod.
Choose to download the linked file and, after downloading change the .mpga extension to .m4a.
Add it to the library. They won't show up in your Podcast directory however.
Hope this helps.

  • Older Ipod problem

I have a 64 gig older ipod.  The other day I was downloading some music and a sync box came up on my screen.  I didn't want to sync with my library, so I said not and went ahead making some playlist.  After I got done and I ejected the ipod, I noticed that all my playlist were gone, all my downloaded music will not play, my videos and music will not play.  I see them on the screen, but it will not play them.  I tried plugging the ipod back in and now my library will not even recognize the ipod like it did before.  What did I do.  I have tons of stuff that I cannot loose.  It has taken me years to get it.  Please help.

  • Ricky Gervais Podcasts

I am having trouble downloading these podcasts from Guardian Unlimited - I click to download and nothing happens. Has anyone else had this problem? Also does anyone know where I can get episodes 1 - 8 as these are not there either. Thanks

You can try a free uploading service like at website rapidshare.de where one person uploads a file and others can download it back to their machine.

  • Unable to check/uncheck older podcast episodes in iPod sync to iTunes 11.0

    Hi,
I have a few podcasts in my iTunes where I have saved a large number of episodes. Now I have upgraded to the new version of iTunes I unable to check/uncheck older podcast episodes from iPod syncing - the finder window won't scroll to the bottom of the list, and just 'bounces' after scrolling past a certain number!
Not sure if this is a bug, or I'm overlooking something.
    Thanks

I have the same problem.  Scrolling does not work in the iPod podcast list panel, but it works in every other panel or window in iTunes...

  • Older iPod doesn't show podcasts when syncing with new iTunes

Although I have had my older iPod for approximately 7 years, I have never had any problems with it until this latest iTunes update. Since the update, I my podcasts are not showing up on the iPod. When I click on "sync" it completes almost immediately (in the past it has taken time for my weekly podcasts to transfer). I think this might have something to do with the new podcast app organization that is used with my iPhone and newer devices that utilizes aps. However, I use my iPod for my daily commute, and if I can't find my podasts to listen to, I am going to be VERY disappointed in Apple's latest change. I am hoping that there is an answer to this problem, but am afraid my old iPod may be be in the process of becoming outdated...
Yes, I did scroll through my albums and artists to see if I could find the podcasts, but without success (unless I am just looking in the wrong place).
Help!! Has anyone else experienced and/or resolved this issue?
    Thanks!

    Hi Arryla
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Take a look at the following link. It should tell you how to do what you want.
Note the bit at the bottom as well, seeing as you are using windows.

  • PC to Mac conversion problem on (older) ipod

My ipod was set up with a pc (about 1 1/2 years ago). Now that I'm running the latest OS on my ibook G-4, I want to erase it and reformat in mac. I also just bought a new nano. I plugged it into my ibook and everything works great. When I use the same cable to connect my older ipod (still running pc), I have the following problems:
The computer doesn't seem to "see" the old ipod.
I get a "do not disconnect message" on the old ipod. The battery doesn't charge with the cable (even though that same cable charges the new nano).
In fact, the battery on the Ipod seems to get depleted. I don't know if there is a cable compatibility issue, a port issue, the PC vs Mac issue, or all 3. I have a whole new audio library on my computer, so I'd be happy to dump the stuff on the Ipod, but how?
    Thanks,
    Mark

solved with help on another forum. OIder ipod requires older cable as well. Thanks all

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all podcasts and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

My daughter's older Ipod Touch is having a problem with images becoming pixilated when taken from an e-mail and placed into her camera roll. ( She wants to put on Instagram ) Any help?

I think that may be a consequence of the email provider she is using. Some services (AOL is one example) inspect and modify email attachments, particularly photos, resulting in reduced resolution compared to the email that was sent.
The iPod does not do this. The resolution of the picture in the email she receives will be identical to what is imported.

  • Problems synching Podcasts to my Ipod

When I start my laptop and plug in my ipod it will update my podcasts and synch. It will also bring up photoshop on my laptop. Once the first synch is done I cannot seem to synch again. In other words if during the day a podcast in itunes is updated and I try to manually update the ipod it will not synch. It never brings up photoshop aside from the first synch of the day. It must have a correlation.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Problem loading Ellen Podcast with 5G ipod

I have a thirty gig Ipod video (the first release) and itunes says i cannot sync the ellen podcast because my ipod is not compatiable... What is the deal???

I have the same problem with my fifth generation 80 GB iPod. I called Apple and they said that they cannot help with any specific podcasts because they are not responsible for how the podcasts are made. I expressed my surprise with this statement as the Ellen show is a featured show in the Apple Store Podcast section, but it does make sense. They can't be responsible for every podcast in their directory.
You could try contacting the Ellen show and letting them know. I'm sure they'd fix it if they knew it was affecting a lot of people.

  • I am having problems with an older ipod running 1.1.2 firmware trying to use earbuds with volume controls made for ipod. any suggestions?

I am problems with an older Ipod classic running 1.1.2pc using earbuds with Ipod inline remote. The earbuds work fine with my new Ipod but not the older one. Any suggestions?

    1) This is because of software version 1.1. See this
thread for some options as to how to go back to 1.0,
    which will correct the problem...
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=3754

    2) This tends to happen after videos. Give the iPod a
minute or two to readjust. It should now be more
    accurate.
    3) This?
iPod shows a folder icon with exclamation
    point
    4) Restore the iPod
    5) Try these...
iPod Only Shows An Apple Logo and Will Not Start
    Up
iPod Only Shows An Apple Logo
I think 3,4, and 5 are related. Try the options I
    posted for each one.

I just noticed that one of the restore methods you posted was to put it into Disk Mode First rather than just use the resstore straight off, I Have tried that and seems to have solved the problem, If it has thank you. previously I have only tried just restoring it skipping this extra step. Hope my iPod stays healthy, if it doesnt its a warrenty job me thinks any way thanks again

  • Podcasts Lock my IPOD - Very Strange

This i sstrange. I have downloaded subscribed podcasts via itunes. If I listen to a podcast and then the ipod switches itself off, I have to do a reset to get the ipod to work again? However if I listen to music and the ipod switches off I can switch it on again no problem?
Anybody else got this issue, or am I doing something wrong?

I seem to be seeing the same issue with my 20GB; listening to Podcast on the way to work, pause and then turn off iPod. Come back at end of day and iPod won't come back on. Spoke with Apple support, they suggested I do a "restore", which blows away all the content on the iPod. Tried that last night; will see if it helps. I figured this was some kind of hardware issue with my iPod, but sounds like it may not be. In my case, the Podcast I seem to be having problems with is enhanced (eMacCast). I'm tempted to just subscribe to the non-enhanced version and see if that fixes it. I wonder if this issue is seen with non-enhanced Podcasts?
BTW, does anyone think this is something Apple will eventually provide a fix for on the 4G models? My concern is whether they are still working on bugs related to the older iPods or whether we are SOL since they are not selling the 4G iPods any more.
    Thanks,
    Ron
