Right channel goes out

My right channel keeps going dead. Three different headsets. When I push the top of the headphone plug to one side, it comes back on. Is it worth taking the back off to see how I might fix it?

As you already know the issue is with the headphone jack in your iPod Classic. You can try inserting something thin into the jack and remove any debris in there that may be causing a bad connection. If that does not solve it then it may require a new headphone jack.

  • Sound Blaster Audigy 2NX: Right Channel Goes out Intermitten

In tears trying to figure this on out. <SPAN> My right channel goes out fairly regularly. For example, the sound will work great for a while and sound just awesome.<SPAN> I leave my desk overnight and when I come back, only the left channel produces sound.<SPAN> I?ve double checked all the balances (winamp, Creative, Windows) and they are all balanced.<SPAN> Besides, the right channel will come back on its on from time to time as well.
Before you all assume it'ss the speakers, I?ve tested this with a different pair of speakers and found the same.<SPAN> Also, if the channel is out, I can always get it to come back by switching to the primary laptop driver, playing a song for awhile and then switching back to the NX driver.
I?ve reinstalled the drivers (cleanly), updates the bios, downloaded DirectX and uploaded the firmware and drivers off of the Creative auto-update site. It seems something?s wrong with the drivers, but I can't figure what.
    <SPAN>
Has anyone else seen this problem or have any suggestions.<SPAN> Again, I?ve done a complete uninstall of the SB drivers and reinstall twice now.
I am running a pair of Cambridge Soundworks 2. speakers off of the external SB Audigy 2NX out of a Toshiba Tecra. I have a Pentium M 700 process or and 52 RAM.<SPAN>

  • Right channel drops out on playback

I'm noticing that when switching between effects or just replaying a track I've recorded, the track initially has a right channel (which i can hear), but a second later, just drops out. Still in experimental stage in recording, but wondering if anyone has a reason for that happening.
I'm using an M-Audio Fast Track Pro device to get my input with acoustic guitar.

    SteveG,
Good suggestions. I tried those too. Made not difference. However, this did. I poked around here and found a solution.
_durin_  had a great remedy.  See this post: Playback stops when in multi-track
Also, now that I have made these settings, things seem to play back quicker and renders are faster.  I still have a lot to learn.
    Thanks so much!

  • Column's Right Alignment goes out with CR in format Mask like NNN,NN0.00CR

I am working in Reports 6i. For a numeric calculated column, I give format mask NNNN,NNN,NNN,NN0.00CR. Due to CR, right alignment of the column goes out. That is rows for which CR is NOT printer are also aligned at right. A blank space should be left at the end of every row when no CR is printer. In this way numeric data is right aligned and readability is not disturbed.
    Pl. help.
    Thanks in anticipation.

    Muhammad,
I tried this on 6.0.8.14.2 version of Reports 6i and it aligned properly (i.e., spaces where present for those values without CR). I originally had the Arial font which as you know is not a fixed font and in this case, the spacing was not exact. I switched to Courier and the output was much more readable for the numeric values, especially with the spacing.
    Regards,
    Jim Safcik
Thanks Jim Safcik. I changed the font of that column to Courier and it resolved the problem. But I am using Times New Roman font which creates above alignment problem.
It would be nice if we have an other solution which is NOT font dependent.
However I appreciate your guidance and knowledge.
    Pl. guide.
    Thanks.

  • Here we go again- local HD channel going out going on 3 years now

Was told to call the local manager {edited for privacy}. if the problem happened again and it has been.  The email reads as an invalid email address and his voice mail is not accepting calls because it has been full for the 2 weeks I have been calling.
Can someone at Verizon get me in touch with him?????????
    Problem:
For the past 2 years I have had the local NBC in Richmond VA (WWBT Channel 12 on FIOS 512) affiliate occasionally goes completely black.  When I switch to the SD channel (12 on FIOS) the SD signal is always there.  I go back and the HD channel is still black.  If I am not watching and DVR'ing something, I will have various periods of black on my recording.  It will go back on it's own after a period of time when I am not watching and will come right back if I am watching as long as I power off the HD DVR to reboot. This has happened despite 3 HD DVR upgrades (started with the moto 6416, continued with the 7216, and keeps happening on my current 7232).  Never had a problem on my SD boxes because it is an HD signal problem.  Use HDMI and tried switching to component and had the same problem.  2 different brand HD TV's (Samsung and Panasonic) with same result.  Had the tech over a 4 times (replaced ONT once, other times detected no signal problems or connection problems) in the last few years.  Don't know what else to check as Verizon seems out of ideas.  Really getting tired of coming home hoping to see a DVR'd NBC program and finding it be black when I push play.
Still happening after last tech (Archie) came 2 months ago and replaced ONT (again) and the splitter coming in.  He said the splitter was a 4 branch and he put in a 3 branch.
    Help!

I appreciate you may not be able to do some of the requests but maybe you can get some help from your son but in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router you may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or if HH4/5 then go to troubleshooting then logs and you are looking for 2 line together when hub last connected to internet and they will show your connection speed and noise margin or if netgear enter 192.168.0.1). Then run  btspeedtester  (MAC users may have problems). when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post the results ( do not reset the router).
are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem

  • I'm using GarageBand 10.0.1. Do the built-in drum tracks only come in mono format, or is it possible to make them true stereo (i.e. Left and Right channels outputing different signals, to sound like the kit has been panned across the stereo field)?

I'm using GarageBand 10.0.1. Do the built-in drum tracks only come in mono format, or is it possible to make them true stereo (i.e. Left and Right channels putting out different signals, to sound like the kit has been panned across the stereo field)?

All the Drum Kits available for GarageBand are mixed in stereo.
Logic provides the same 18 Drum Kits also as "Producer Kits", which are multi-track outputs,. Each Drum Kit Piece (Kick, Snare, HH, etc) and also room mice and overheads are routed to individual channel strips.
Here is a screenshot of one Drum Kit in Logic Pro X with individual Channels Strips. Each Channel Strip can be loaded with individual effects (compressor) and adduced with individual sends, etc.
What that means is that all the Drummers are professionally recorded and sampled with individual mics. The Stereo Drums Kits are just "stereo mix-downs" for easier handling and less CPU demand. I explain all the details about the Drummer ecosystem in my graphically enhanced manual "GarageBand X - How it Works"
    Hope that helps

  • Left and right channels of stereo sound coming only from left spea

The title says it all. I can't figure out what's wrong. I checked all the settings I can think of, but nothing seems out of place. It's not the right channel cutting out, but both channels coming from the left speaker (I used the speaker test feature to confirm this). This just happened out of nowhere when I booted up my pc. Any idea what's wrong?

  • Left, right, or both sound channels cutting out

    Hello folks,
This is a second thread I am creating to ask some questions about this other problem I have:
I have a fourth-gen ipod photo. I bought it just before they rolled out the ipod color. I have used this device pretty heavily, I take it with me everywhere I go. I've tried to take good care of my iPod... no major drops, minimal jars, only unplugging it when there's no I/O access, and trying not to charge it until the battery is low.
For several months I have been having issues with sound channels on my headphones cutting out. At first, it was just annoying: left or right sound channel cutting out, fixed simply by nudging the headphone plug in the jack.
Lately, however, this is becoming a bigger problem. This problem does not affect the ipod playing back music in any way, aside from the fact that sometimes the ipod will think I've unplugged the headphone.
Now, sound will completely cut out. Sometimes I hear nothing. Sometimes fidelity will drop pretty heavily and everything sounds like I was listening to my music underwater. Sometimes, just the left or right sound channels cut out. Again, all of this fixes itself by wiggling the headphone jack in its plug.
I use a pair of $20 walmart special Sony Street Style (very nice sound quality, actually) in most cases, but also use it with a pair of American Audio DJ headphones. The Sony headphones have an L-shaped plug, but the AA headphones have a more traditional sticks-straight-out plug.
I am looking to fix this problem myself. I plan on opening up my iPod to install a new battery and maybe fix the other problem I am having (see my other thread), and I am not afraid of the insides of the device.
What I am asking is if anyone else has had this problem, or a something similar? My guess is that the headphone jack's solderpoints on the PCB have become loose, so if I go in there and resolder the jack then I hope everything is hunky-dory. I've seen repair sites that sell the entire headphone assembly for like $50. Would it be better just to replace the whole thing?
Please note that I have no intentions (nor the money) to have a "genius" fix my iPod. (Where's the fun in that, anyway?) Further, I can not afford (and will not buy) another iPod, so that's out too. I am simply looking to fix my iPod and keep limping along until I can afford a newer mp3 player.
    Any help is appreciated
    tom

    Hello,
It looks to me that it can be caused by the bad contact of the metal parts of earphone jack or the loose of its solder with the mother board. Both of them should not be too difficult to deal with if you are good in small elect. device.

  • Audio Input on the Left Channel is fine, Right Channel, Not So Much...

Okay, so I'm attempting to record some audio into my eMac using it's 3.5mm Line Input Jack, but Sound Studio is telling me that all of the audio is coming out of the left channel.
I checked balance, it's a new cable that works fine otherwise, the device I'm recording from sounds fine on headphones.
    Any suggestions?

Hmm. I think someone more technically-inclined with audio could help you out here. I tried recording audio on my eMac with QuickTime Player (I'm not sure if you need QuickTime Pro to do this, otherwise I would suggest you try the same thing). I have a similar experience as you. The QuickTime A/V window (control-K) informs me that the audio balance is shifted completely to the right channel (rather than left, as you observe in Sound Studio). And there is no way to adjust this, it is also "greyed out". This QuickTime recording is through the built-in microphone on my eMac. Might there exist (pricier) external microphones that are specifically capable of stereo recording? Or perhaps our eMacs aren't capable of stereo recording, at least without hardware modifications. I don't know. Clearly, I'm ignorant about this. Perhaps there is a Discussion going on somewhere else around here that is more Audio-specific?

  • Output to home stereo - no right channel

I am trying to connect the SB Audigy2 Platinum to my two channel homestereo. I connected the 1/8 digital cable via an rca adapter, going into corresponding
L+R RCA inputs on my amplifier. When trying to calibrate the speakers I hear the right channel in bothe speakers
The same effect when I listen to my stereo headphones connected to my amplifier. When my headphones are plugged directly into the external I/O module, theheadphones sound just fine. I have checked to make sure that the 1/8"" jack is plugged into output onthe soundcard, and is in all the way. I have also switched the polarity of my L+R rca audio jacks going into theinputs on my amplifier, works the same either way. I have tried all available input pairs on my amplifierI have checked the polarity of the audio cable from my speaker outputs on myamplifier to the speakers. I have turned all DSP's off on my amplifier and am bypassing surround soundand Dolby. I am stumped. Also, shouldn't I be able to use the 1/8" digital out on the back of the I/Omodule to go to my home stereo instead of the 1/8" out on the soundcarditself?Thank you,

Hi...I am new to this whole posting thing, but have been an avid reader for awhile. I too am having difficulties with the whole iphone to stereo concept. I bought the Belkin cord from the Apple store, but still seem to be unable to get any music to come out of my stereo. So, what could I be doing wrong? I have connected cord from both the iphone and from cradle's line out jack, and then connect the other end to stereo through the headphone jack. The headphone jack is the ONLY port on the stereo that seems to fit the belkin. No input jacks to be found. Do I need to do like iTrip radio stations in the iPhone, or did I just waste money on this cord? Please help. I am so frustrated. All I want to do is enjoy my music OUT LOUD! Thanks.

  • Panning probs - no right channel

    Hey guys
    Hope someone can help
If I pan a track to the right the volume on it goes down
Input shows both left and right sound coming in and recording
but the pan makes it disappear
    any clues??

or it could be masking the problem, take it out of the equation by setting GB to output to the built-in speakers, is there still sound in the right channel?

  • Left /right Channel balance

Not a specific Logic question as such, more a general one on sound balance. Have been using a pair of Klipsch speakers for about a year now and have started noticing a decided swing of volume to the left hand channel when everything is set to centre like drums etc. Tried swinging a drum snare to the left and right and the right hand channel is just so much quieter to the point of al most losing the snare ! Tried it on my headphones and its the same. Could my mac be giving a hiccup?

    Hi,
You might do well in calibrating your audio outputs.
    Here's a quickie:
    1. Turn OFF your speaker system. Failure to do so will not only blow them up, it might get you evicted...or thrown out from your parent's...or the neighbor going after you with a shotgun, you get the picture. I won't be held responsible if you skip this step, and become deaf as a result.
    2. Open a blank Logic song, and make 1 track. Insert a tone generator plug-in,and set it to 0dB (the maximum output level). Make sure the pan is set to centered.
    3. check your audio device's output level meters. they should MATCH. If not, there is an issue with your audio device. consult the mfr to get this fixed ASAP. If this step is ok, move on to no.4.
    4. If you have a mixer after your audio device, look at the INPUT GAIN on the channels that your main outputs from your audio device are fed into. Put the left channel into SOLO, and calibrate the input gain so it clips, and tehn back it off just slightly, until no clipping occurs. Do the same for the right channel.
    5. Set the OUTPUT of the mixer faders to 0, and pan each channel hard left and hard right, respectively (ch1 left, ch2 right, etc.)
    6. Look at the mixer's OUTPUT meters. Do they match? If they do NOT match, you need to contact the mfr of the mixer, and have this fixed ASAP/ If they DO match, then proceed to step 7.
    7. Look at the amplifier that your speakers are hooked up to : does it have an INPUT gain knob? If it does, then you can calibrate your speaker amplifier. If it does not, REPLACE this speaker amp with one that DOES have input gain knobs. If it does have input knobs, you now can calibrate the speaker levels. Go to step 8.
    8. With a good SPL (Sound Pressure Level) meter, place the meter on a mic stand or other sturdy device, and place it in your mix position, pointing towards the exact middle of your speaker spread (exactly between the speakers). Turn the meter on, and set it to read 80dB sensitivity.
    9. Set your mixer's monitoring output (the one that turns the output up and down to your speakers) SLOWLY... until you get 80 dB on your meter.
    10. MUTE the right speaker output. You can do this on your mixer, by muting the left channel. then turn up the monitoring level up until you get the same 80dB. What is the level difference? Note this.
    11. MUTE the left channel, and turn on the right channel. turn up / down the monitorin levle until you reach 80dB. What is the difference? not this too.
    12. On the speaker gain knobs, notice where they are BEFORE you calibrate the speaker amplifiers.
    13. Put your monitor level back to about 10 am position. This one is the one on the mixer. NOt the one on the speaker amp!!!
    14. While still on the RIGHT channel only playback, notice where the level meter is now. Adjust the RIGHT speaker input so that it reads 80dB upon playback at the 10am position on the mixer monitoring knob.
    15. MUTE the Right playback, and turn on the Left channel playback. notice where the level meter is, and adjust the LEFT speaker input until you get the 80dB.
    16. Now, turn on BOTH Left and Right channels, and it should be louder than each channel separate.
    17. Adjust the monitor level knob on your mixer until you reach 80dB. MARK THIS SPOT.
You now have a calibrated listening system.
    Enjoy
