Right-click down mouse-move gives no onMouseMove event in Safari on  Mac

I am trying to detect on-mouse-event in JavaScript, when the mouse is moving while the right-button is down in Safari on Mac. But it seems the onmousemove event is not fired.
Note: I am able to detect the mouse move combined with right mouse down on windows event FF on Mac.

I figured that the form wasn't public, but I asked just in case.
Yahoo in general is not very Mac-friendly, but still, what you are experiencing is not normal and must be very frustrating, especially when someone is looking over your shoulder (isn't that when computers act up the most?).
Because the form works in Internet Explorer, the problem is not a general OS X problem, but if this is the only form that you have problems with in Safari, then my first guess is that the page the form is on is not written to the accepted standards for writing web pages. Safari is one of the least forgiving when it comes to bad or incorrect coding of web pages.
If you have this problem on all or most forms, but things continue to work in Internet Explorer, then one thing I would try is to delete Safari's Preference file. I have seen all sorts of seemingly unrelated but Safari-specific problems arise when this file gets corrupted (which isn't often). The file is named com.apple.Safari.plist. Not all problems are caused by a bad preference file, so this procedure may not work.
First quit Safari. You can copy the file name (com.apple.Safari.plist), click on the Spotlight icon in the upper right of your screen, and paste it in the search box. One entry should be found. If you click on "Show All" in the results window, a larger Spotlight window will appear and you can drag com.apple.Safari.plist to the Trash from that window. You will loose any changes you have made in Safari's Preferences and a new one will be created when you restart Safari.
You might want to consider Firefox as an alternate browser. Internet Explorer is now longer being updated or developed and is now behind the times and renders many pages poorly.

  • Can't Download Images with Right-Click on Mouse

    I can't download images by right-clicking my mouse, like I do on my PC. For example, check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Dakota and look at the images of the flag, state seal and map near the top right corner of the page...
    When I place my cursor over any of these images on either my PC or my MacBook Pro, my cursor changes to a hand, indicating that the images are hyperlinked. If I right-click on an image, I can choose a SAVE AS command on my PC, but nothing happens on my MacBook Pro.
    If I left-click on a linked image, it simply zooms in, rather than taking me to another page. I'm using a small Kensington mouse.
    This could be a Firefox problem. I think I recall downloading some sort of extension that allows you to zoom in on images, and I suspect it's more or less taken over. If so, I'll have to track down the name of the extension and try and zap it.
    But I thought I'd check here first, just to see if other people have this same problem - or if you can suggest alternate strategies for downloading images.
    Thanks.

    Well, I found a novel solution - it's called Safari.
    I'll post on the Firefox forum to figure out why I
    can't download images with it, but it seems to work
    just fine with Apple's native browser. Thanks for all
    the tips.
    I just tried it, but I am using firefox 2.0 beta and I had no problems. Not sure what's going on. Have you tried any other pages or pics besides this one, which I don't think it would matter just wondering.

  • Keynote freezes when right click on mouse. why?

    When using keynote, numbers, etc. and I right click my mouse to get the secondary menu, the spinning beach ball appears and the app freezes and requires a Forced Shut Down.  How can this be fixed?
    OX 10.8.3

    If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
    Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
    Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time after  you had the problem. Select the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
    If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
    When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
    Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
    Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
    Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • Can no longer send links online by right clicking my mouse or by selecting

    Everyday I share with others images from Facebook (or elsewhere), by right clicking my mouse on the image and being given the option to "E-mail link." For webpages (from my Taskbar) I click on "File" and then "E-mail link." Trying either of these functions now produces nothing - absolutely nothing happens. Also, I just now clicked on "File" to "Print" a copy of this question, and nothing happens when I click on File - no options appear.

  • How do I get my right click on mouse to copy and paste?

    How do I get my right click on mouse to copy and paste?

    As long as the right-click displays the dropdown menu, then it is enabled and you just have to select "copy" or "paste".
    I find the quickest way to copy/paste is to use the keyboard shut-cut of, command C and command V. Quick and easy and less moving of the mouse.
    Good luck.

  • Right click on flash movie / SWF file

    Why we get flash default menu when i right click on a flash
    movie?.
    When i enable video bookmark (videomark). user is suppose to
    right click on flash movie and select videomark.
    is the flash default menu is customizable?. Please let me
    know.

    Here is a sample script to customize the right-click menu.
    Put it in frame 1 of your movie.
    var myContextMenu = new ContextMenu();
    myContextMenu.hideBuiltInItems();
    var thisTitle:ContextMenuItem = new ContextMenuItem("My
    prison movie", bla);
    var thisCredit:ContextMenuItem = new ContextMenuItem("created
    by Paris Hilton", bla, separatorBefore=true);
    var thisCopyright:ContextMenuItem = new
    ContextMenuItem("© My Intelligence Is Ltd.", bla);
    myContextMenu.customItems.push(thisTitle);
    myContextMenu.customItems.push(thisCredit);
    myContextMenu.customItems.push(thisCopyright);
    function bla() {
    //insert your function here
    this.menu = myContextMenu;
    The function can be anything: getURL, load a movie clip, turn
    sound on/off, etc. You can add as many ContextMenuItems as you
    want. Each one can have a separate function assigned. It seems that
    some sort of function is required by the class, so I use an empty
    function like in this example if I want nothing to happen when the
    user clicks the menu item.

  • Right click with mouse in Word 2013 does not give the list with translate and synonyms etc

    since i upgraded to windows 8.1 right click on words in word 2013 does not open the regular list where you can tap on synonyms and translate.
    it does work if i touch the screen.
    i moved to mouse mode but it does not help
    can anyone help...
    i am starting to hate windows 8.1 and word 2013 because of this feature not working

    Hi
    I have tested in my computer and it worked well.
    Normally when we type a wrong spelling, right clicking the word does not give a list with translate and synonyms.
    Check to make sure your spelling is right.
    if the issue persists, Start Word in safe mode to check the issue:Hold "Ctrl" key and click into the program.
    It is also recommended that you do a repair for your Office suites in
    Control panel>Program and features>Office>Change>Repair

  • No right click on mouse

    I have a second hand imac, which I love, but the mouse doesn't have a right-click function. I looked in system, under mouse options, and there's no selection for right click. Is there some place else I can look? Just got this imac for Christmas, so still learning. Your help would be appreciated.

    If you can't specify right click in your mouse's preferences, clicking and holding down the control key at the same time will give you a right click.

  • I just created a new profile/user on my MacBook Pro. My pointer/mouse. It works fine in my older user profile, but when I go to the new profile my mac will not respond to clicks. Mouse moves but will not click. Already tried restarting and the pram zap.

    I just created a new profile/user on my MacBook Pro. My pointer/mouse on my trackpad. It works fine in my older user profile, but when I go to the new profile my mac will not respond to clicks. The Mouse moves but will not click. Already tried restarting and the pram zap. The problem starts when I log out of my main profile. I get to the login screen and my laptop stops responding to clicks. When I manage to make my way back to my main profile the mouse works perfectly.  Should I just delete the new profile and try again?

    If the modem is also a router, either use the modem in bridge and run pppoe client on the TC.. that is assuming ADSL or similar eg vdsl. If it is cable service.. and the modem is a router, then bridge the TC.. go to internet page and select connect by ethernet and below that set connection sharing to bridge.
    Please tell us more about the modem if the above gives you issues.

  • Can't "right click" on mouse.

    Hi all,
    I am running OS X 10.4.8 on an Intel Mac Mini with wireless one button mouse.
    To "right click" say on a picture, I just hold down the mouse and get an options menu, or to download a link, I just hold down the mouse on the link, and get an options menu.
    Well not now!
    Now if I hold down the mouse nothing happens ?
    I tried the following:
    Logged into the admin account the mouse works perfect.
    Created a new user account the mouse works perfect.
    I uninstalled Divx ( the only thing I loaded recently).
    I ran "Disk Aid" fixed a few permissions, mostly iTunes.
    I checked the mouse settings, but there are only settings for click speed, and tracking, both of these functions work perfect.
    I tried another USB one button mouse in my user account, it does not work either.
    Holding down the ctrl key while clicking on the mouse does not work either.
    Nor did a re-boot.
    So it's some sort of user account problem as the hardware is perfect and it works in admin and the new user account.
    Permissions are OK.
    I ain't got the faintest idea where to go now
    It's an annoying problem, as I can't download stuff that needs a "right click and select save as" , the only way is to log into another account and download it there.
    Any help would be great.
    Many thanks for your time.
    Regards.
    R

    There's a couple of things to look at in your account:
    1. Look in "/Users/yourname/Library/Contextual Menu Items" and see if you have anything in there. If so, try moving all the items to the Desktop and log out/in or restart the Finder. If one of the items is the problem you can add back one at a time until you isolate the culprit.
    2. In "/Users/yourname/Library/Preferences" look for plist files that might be related to your mouse. I guess you have an Apple bluetooth mouse? See if there are any plist files related to it, if so remove. Also remove "/Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist" and you can try going to "/Users/yourname/Library/Caches/" and removing the System Preferences folder plus "com.apple.preferencepanes.cache" and see if that helps. There's one other System Prefs plist, "/Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.systempreferences.0003934 3a1a8.plist" you can remove.
    If it isn't a bad Contextual Menu Item, nor a bad mouse of bluetooth preference--either a com.apple plist for the mouse or bluetooth--nor a bad cache or plist for System Preferences, then I can't imagine what the problem is. You could try removing the entire Preferences folder, force Finder to restart and create new default everything, then put back stuff in batches....

    the user cor-el has a method that does not require any add-ons. He States
    This code in userChrome.css will move "Open Link in New Window" to the top of the context menu.
    <pre>@namespace url("<a href="http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul">http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul</a>"); /* only needed once */
    #contentAreaContextMenu &gt; * { -moz-box-ordinal-group: 2; }
    #context-openlink { -moz-box-ordinal-group: 1 !important; }</pre>
    the user jay_ff shows how to do it using the Menu Editor Add-on
    1. Install the Menu Editor add-on from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/menu-editor/ .
    2. After the installation, go to Firefox> add-ons (or simply use Ctrl+Shift+A)
    3. Go to the Menu Editor "Options"
    4. In the "Main context menu," simply grab the "Open link in New Tab" and place it below the "Open Link in New Window"
    5. and Voila! You may also change other menu options if you want to!
    I tried jay_ff method first and found that indeed changing the Main Context Menu did cause the hotlink context menu to change as well.

  • Right Click in published movie Captivate 4

    When I try to publish a movie with right click capability I lose that capability and the movie freezes. The only time it works is when I run it locally from the default save location. I have turned off accessibility and all other necessary switches
    How can I make this movie function properly over an intranet with potentially 10,000 users
    thedarf

    If you are not running the published movie from a server, then you have to add the location to flash security setting in order for it to work.
    Following url is where user will have to add the location from where the swf is being viewed.
    http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04.htm l
    Locally it is running fine because your local drive must have already been added to this setting.
