Right click not working in finder on New Mavericks

Just installed OSX Mavericks on my early 2011 macbook pro and as soon as i try to right click anything finder crashes. will not let me right click at all.
very irritating.
anyone else having this issue. ??????

since upgrading to Mavericks on my late 2012 iMac (my current OSX version is 10.9.2), highlighting text and using right-click + copy crashes Finder, Contacts, Text Edit and Messages 100% of the time. there are no issues with this function in any 3rd party applications like Firefox, MS Word, Adobe Photoshop, etc.
at the advice of Apple Support, i have cleared my Library Caches folder, reset SMC and have reinstalled Mavericks, none of which has resolved the issue. i am not experiencing this behavior with my late 2013 MacBook Pro Retina, which is running the same OSX version.
possilby related is that right clicking on any file in Finder and simply moving my cursor over the 'Share' option also crashes Finder 100% of the time.
i'm at a loss here. any ideas?

  • Two finger tap right click not working

Is anyone having a problem with two-finger tap to right click?  Two-finger tap to right click was working fine for a while, but it suddenly stopped on my Yoga 13.
I reinstalled the touchpad drivers, and it worked for a few days, then it stopped again.  Two-finger click still works fine.  So does one-finger tap to left click.
    Strange....

  • Logic Pro X.  Right-click not working in the piano-roll editor.  And colour issues.

I usually use the right mouse-button to open the toolbox under the cursor but this doesn't appear to work within the piano-roll edit window in Pro X.  Is this the same for everyone?  The right-click works in all other windows.  Seems pretty odd.
Also is it just me who finds the near-black background very oppressive?  I worked in front of Pro X for several hours yesterday and was left wishing I could change the background colour of the main and edit windows.  Is there any way to do this?
I also really need to be able to access custom colours for the colour palette as the new palette doen't sit at all well with me.  Any ideas anyone?  The manual states that if you double-click on a colour it should open the colour editor but it doesn't.....

It turns out that if you assign the right button to 'Open Tools and Shortcut Menu', it works in the piano roll.  It's obviously a bug which should get ironed out.
The other thing that's driving me nuts though is that when I change tools in the main window, the pointer still appears like an arrow, even though its function has changed.  When I pass it over a region, it usually changes to to the correct icon - but not always!  Aarghhh I'm going back to Pro 9 for now......

  • Apple Magic Mouse--right click not working, left-right scroll not working

Brand new out of the box, right click does not work and neither do the left-right swipe. Is it likely I have a faulty mouse, or is there a software update or setting I have failed to find? Running 10.6.4 on brand new MacBook Air. Experts--help please

I have the same issue.  My magic mouse is only about a year old and i honestly don't use it that often... it seems to me the right click is not "connecting" well as i have to click several times or very hard to get it to make a clicking sound.  not sure if its stiff or broken or not.
Overall I'm pretty frustrated as this thing was EXPENSIVE.
Any ideas how to fix it?

  • Right Click not working in published output.  ??

I'm relatively new to Captivate, and NOT a developer, so please bear with me on this.
I'm recording a training video of a basic application and have a need to use a right-click to bring up a menu.  This is a requirement of the app, so I need Captivate to provide the same functionality to avoid confusing the user going through the training video.  I have the Click Box options set to Right Click, and it works in the Preview.  However, when I Publish the finished video, the right-click does not work - only a left-click will advance to the next slide.
I found a few threads discussing issues with the right-click, but all of them were dealing with permissions issues.  I'm saving the output to my desktop (Windows XP) and am launching the HTM file to confirm the video is working properly, so I don't see how a permissions issue would come into play.  ??  If it is a permissions issue, how do I fix it within Captivate so that the end user can run this from any PC/MAC, where I have no control of their permissions?
Any suggestions or tips on how to get the right-click working in the final product are greatly appreciated.

    Hi there
The right-click function relies on JavaScript. JavaScript may also be influenced by the Flash Security Settings.
Please try what is outlined in the link and see if your right-click suddenly begins working. Also note that you don't need to adjust these settings if you are serving content from a server. You only have to worry about it if you are testing by running from your local C drive.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Clickpad Right Click not Working Consistantly

I just purchased an HP laptop with a Clickpad and reviewed your documentation for what areas on the pad to use for clicking however I can't seem to get a consistent right click even when I click in the area indicated by the diagram.  I can be almost in the bottom right corner of the pad's surface and still get a left click response.
Is there a trick to it I am missing or do I have a dud?

    Hello Kyraoko,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand the right-clicking action on the touchpad, of your notebook, is not working properly. It is likely a hardware issue, to be honest. However, please try the following steps before assuming anything:
    1. Tap the upper-left corner of the touchpad a couple of times to turn it off, then turn it on. This is considered resetting the touchpad.
    2. Performing a Hard Reset or Forced Reset is the next step. A hard reset clears driver instructions, recent configurations, etc. This forces the hardware to reread all instructions from the drivers and software stored within Windows.
    3. Update the mouse/touchpad driver. These instructions will guide you along the right path:
    a. Go to the HP Drivers and Downloads webpage. Enter your computer model number and then click Go .
    b. Select your computer model from the list of results.
    c. Select your operating system from the drop down menu and then click Next.
    d. Scroll down to select the driver category "Driver - Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices".
    e. Click the Download button next to the appropriate TouchPad or ClickPad driver. The file downloads to your Downloads folder.
    f. Open your Downloads folder and double-click to install the latest driver. Follow on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
Source: Using and Troubleshooting the TouchPad or ClickPad (Windows 8)
    4. If that doesn't work, we will have to try a more direct approach of reinstalling the mouse driver:
    a) Go into Device Manager, then "Mice and other pointing devices".
    b) Right-click on the touchpad driver, and select "Uninstall".
    c) Restart the computer. This will force a new driver to be written based on the detected hardware.
    5. Try connecting a USB mouse to the computer. Test it to see whether or not it is working properly.
If those steps do not help, then I would call HP phone support so they can physically address the hardware of the touchpad. You can utilize this website to learn how to contact HP appropriately, based on your region: Contact HP Worldwide
Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. Thanks for posting, and have a great day!

  • Aperture Right Click Not working

I have been using Aperture for awhile and all of a sudden the right click menu takes almost 25 seconds to come up. In that time all you have is the spinning color wheel and in Force Quit Applications Aperture shows up as Not Responding. I tried using Aperture on another user account and it does not have the problem so it has to be something that I did. . .
So I had started to use Time Machine about 1 week ago, I installed than uninstalled a program called DropBox which could of changed the settings. And thats about it except for daily usage. So does anyone know where the strings or whatever are stored for Aperture so that I can get ride of the bad ones?
    Or have any other solutions?
    Thanks for the help,
    Hudsora

I did the repair disk permissions, and that did not solve the problem. I was incorrect as in saying that nothing new was installed. I did get a Flip Video recorder which installed some software components when I first plugged it in. So I am guessing that when that happened it changed a component of a common file that both Aperture and the Flip Video Player use. I don't need the component for the Flip because I found a new way to transfer it, but I need to find out which file it changed and how to get it back to the origional file that Aperture can use. . .
So ya if anyone has any clue on how to do that, that would be awesome!

  • Mighty Mouse Wireless Right Click not working

    Hi Friends!
I am having some difficulty getting my Right Click on my Wireless MM to work. I am aware that I need to keep my left finger off the mouse but it still does not seem to be working.
    Any thoughts ?
    Thanks !
    J

Try replacing the battieries (or just taking them out and putting them back in). Forcing the connection between the Mighty Mouse and the iMac to break. Then put the new batteries, or the ones you were you using from before, in the MM.
Re-link the Mighty Mouse to the iMac and try applying the settings for the right click function in System Preferences.
Remember to mark as helpful or solved.

Instead of using execution statements involving
    synclient
on startup of X I'm now using /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-synaptics.conf for configuring my settings. This solved the problem.
I realized by the way that in my former setup no matter how many fingers I used for pressing down the ClickPad it did always perform a normal click in addition. That is why the context menu disappeared right away: It performed a mixture of a right and left click.
@Head_on_a_Stick: No Problem, your attempt to help is much appreciated
