Right Click on dock icon freeze the dock

Using Macbook Pro, 10.6.4. A lot of the time when I was trying to right click on a dock icon, the dock freeze, expose and spaces all not working, I have to call up activity monitor to force quit the dock and everything went fine again.
It's very annoying especially when you're in rush for something important.
Anyone has this experience before or know how to fix it?
Thanks for any kind help.

I've been having some issues with Dock/Exposé/Spaces (they're all related, as far as I know). Not the same though.
Go into ~/Library/Preferences. You'll see a lot of files called com.apple.something.plist. Remove all the files in which something has to do with Dock, Expose, Finder, or Spaces. Reboot. See if that fixes anything. You could also try the 10.6.4 combo update.

In the previous version of Firefox when I right clicked on a bookmark in the bookmark bar the IE Tab options would appear. They no longer do since I have moved to Version 4. It would be great to get this ability back.. Thanks

I have not changed any of my preferences and they look like they are as I would have left them.
I tried resetting Firefox and deleting the preference file, no change.
By the way, I hate that the tabs are on top and not where they belong above the pages they are for. There should still be a way in Firefox to put them back without having to use an add-in.

When clicked on an icon in the infopath 2013 form, it will open another infopath 2013 form from another

    Hello Eugene Astafiev!
    I need the following scenario:
I have a Sharepoint library with items created by Infopath (form A).
I developed another form (form B) that will query items created by form A.
The form B will be in a static "webpart" page navigation (Sharepoint). One of these fields returned by the query library that manages the items created is the URL responsible to load the item data . I would like to parameterize the URL into form B.
So that when the user clicks on it, the form A with their respective data in a modal is returned (which may be a native modal Sharepoint)

If you right-click the image and choose View Image Info, what shows as "Type"?
If it shows JPEG image, for example, make sure to save the file with a .jpg file extension. If you place quotation marks around the entire file name, e.g.,
    "myfile.jpg"
then you can ensure that the name as the correct extension. Does that help?

sometimes right clicking on a image provides the option of copying or saving it and sometimes it does not even with the same image. I even saved the page because I could not save the image then when I right clicked again I could save the image. There is no pattern to when I can or can't save the image. What kind of context menu do you see instead?
You can right-click such an image and use Inspect Element to open the Inspector to see what gets selected instead.

  • Upon right clicking a hyperlink, image, etc., the properties button no longer appears in the list. (I am using FireFox version 3.6.3)

Properties has been removed from the right-click context menu. You now need to use right-click '''''View Image Info''''' or '''''View Page Info''''' > Media and scroll down the list of items to see the properties.
Do not post at the following link; just read the discussion. See [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=513147 Bug 513147] – Get rid of the "Properties" context menu item.
The following add-on will add the "Properties" option to the right-click menu in Firefox 3.6 and higher: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/14228

  • Working in muse when I go to right click I don't get the Page Properties menu how do I change ?

Working in muse when I go to right click I don't get the Page Properties menu how do I change this ?

    Hello,
What do you right click on? Usually you should be able to see Page Properties when you right click on a page from the plan mode, or you can also find page properties if you open the individual pages and then go to Page -> Page Properties. However, if you are in the plan mode and you try to use the Page -> Page Properties, that won't work and the "Page Properties" option would be grayed out.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers

  • Libreoffice right-click context menu going beyond the end of the page

having a rather annoying issue with libreoffice 3.x (started with 3.5.x and still in 3.6.1): The right-click context menu goes over the screen borders when I am at the end of the page (instead of opening in the other direction so that all options are visible). I am running arch 64bit KDE 4.9.1. But I think in this case that's not relevant because we have a second computer, the same one basically with an extremely similar setup and there it works just fine. I did uninstall libreoffice, got rid of the .cache in the home folder, then reinstalled but the problem persists.
Anyone know how to fix this or hints on how to approach the problem?
    Thx!
    Captn

    Update:
the problem was fixed with an update to KDE 4.9.2 but shortly after for some reason, it reappeared. As previously mentioned, I tried uninstalling libreoffice entirely, including the libreoffice .config folder. Here is what it looks like (second screen shot):
I noticed that this also happens with dolphin when I open it as root. Someone came across the same issue and fixed it?
    Help's greatly appreciated

    Edit: libreoffice version 3.6.1
    Edit 2: Real Problem identified:
I just wanted to update this thread should there be others that, at one point or another, run into a similar problem. I won't be marking the thread as solved since I did not actually solve the problem (yet). However, I did identify the cause and therefore know how to circumvent it.
Since I didn't elaborate much on the specs / technical side, I have an HP pavilion with an Nvidia card and I am using the propretiary drivers. I set up a separate X screen for my TV and there is where the problem lies. It has worked for months but since recently this setup causes some weird graphical behavior (as in the above pictures) which can be annoying. If using the twinview setup or no external monitor, everything works normal. My guess is that plasma-desktop and the separate x screen don't work very well together for a reason unknown to me for the time being.
The problem itself can be annoying if you rely on libreoffice to work so I hope this might help somebody should there be annyone running into a similar issue.

  • Click on an icon in the Dock

I can use this script to click on something on the Dock
tell application "System Events" to tell process "Dock" to tell list 1 to click UI element "App Store"
is there a script that can do the same thing without having to have "Enable Access for assisted devices" enabled?

All clicking on an item in the dock does is send an 'activate' command to the application.  If you want to prevent it from opening an app that is not already open, use the following:
if application "App Store" is running then
tell application "App Store" to activate
    end if
If you have some other goal than merely bringing a running app to the foreground, what would that be?

  • Right-click in Dock no longer works

I just recently performed a security update on my iMac, and now when I try to do any sort of right-click action in the Dock (closing apps, emptying Trash), the menu shows up, but the menu & the Dock are momentarily hung. I can click around other items on the Desktop or Finder, but the Dock stays non-responsive for maybe 15 seconds or so. Anyone else see this, and if so any ideas? Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. I don't think an SMC reset is called for, since this issue doesn't really have a hardware component to it (i.e. power button not working, battery issues, etc.). The mouse button itself is not the issue, since other right-click events work fine, and it's only when right-clicking on the Dock that it sort of hangs a bit.

  • Right Clicking on dock not working from System Prefs

When the System Preferences are the front most application the right mouse button acts as a left button... this is particularly annoying when trying to right right click on items in the dock when in system prefs.

My right-click behaves normally when System Preferences is in the front. What does control-click do?

  • Option to open new window or new tab via right click on taskbar icon in WinXP, Firefox 10 is not available

When I right click on the Firefox tab/icon in the taskbar, there is no option for me to open a new window or new tab. I am only offered the ability to Move, Size, Minimize, Maximize or Close Firefox.

That is the Windows System menu and is maintained by Windows XP.
You need to open Firefox to open a new tab or create a shortcut with the -new-tab or -new-window command line switch if you want to do that via the desktop.

  • Used to right click to put icon on desktop, how do I do that now?

When using InternetExplorer, I would right click on a web page and then left click on "create desktop icon?'. Doesn't do that anymore. How can I do that with Mozilla?

    gnitalla,
To begin, the form doesn't fill when I start to type.
I found that I can click on the pencil icon and then down-arrow. But when I do that I have to:
Name-enter, Address-enter, State-enter, Zip-enter. You get the idea. It's about the same as having to type it out anyway, practically.
    Thanks, Jake

  • "right click" event make application freeze

    Hey,
I've just installed a fresh version of mountain lion, up to date (10.8.2).
I got serious problem with "right click" action, on certain applications like "utorrent" or "adobe audition CS6", it makes them freeze then not responding.
    same with "alt-left click".
Does anybody have experience the same, or got an idea why it does that?

I had this exact problem as well. Right-clicking in uTorrent or iMovie made the app freeze and I was left with the spinning beach ball until I forced quit.
I tried OnyX like you suggested. Rebuilding LaunchServices is what fixed it for me.
In OnyX (free), go in the Maintenance tab, Rebuild sub-tab, check "LaunchServices" and click the Execture button.
