Right click on macbook in bootcamp?

is there a way to right click with button combos like on OS X cause I don't always have my mouse with me like when I traveling I leave it at home. its kind of a nuisance to not be able to right click at all without a mouse. thats the only thing Apple needs to do something about on their computers
ADD A RIGHT CLICK BUTTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Right-click on Macbook Air (early 2008) with Windows XP?

I just bought a refurbished MacBook Air, early 2008 edition. I installed Windows XP Pro SP3 using Boot Camp, and everything is working perfectly, except tap-to-click and right-clicking using the trackpad. Both do not work at all, I've tried two-finger tap as well as three-finger tap for the right-click. I tried downloading the update driver from the Apple site, but it said "This update is not intended for this computer and will not be installed." Obviously, the update is meant for the late 2008 edition MacBooks.
One other interesting point is that Control Panel - Boot Camp does not have a "Trackpad' tab.
Anyone have any idea on how to fix this?

On reflection, all I probably need is the previous Trackpad driver; a prior version that is compatible with early 2008 edition of the MacBook Air. I have been unable to find this driver on the Apple site, would anyone know how I can go about getting this driver?

  • Right Click in Windows Vista (Bootcamp)

the two finger tapping works GREAT in OSX, but can I do something similar while running vista?
The two finger gesturing seems to work nice for scrolling, what about the right click?
Or Is there atleast a 3rd party program that will allow me to map the right click button to something on the keyboard? I only need it for certain applications that require right click functions.
Also im aware a external mouse is a very good option, but i'm mostly concerned about portability and I dont like the idea of bringing a mouse with me.

I just found the double finger + Mouse Click function works as right click
however id still like to know if anyone knows of a good right click mapping application (for Windows)

  • Right click on XP under BootCamp with new MacBook Pro not working?

Is anyone else seeing this on the new MacBook Pro? (I have the 2.53 model):
I installed WinXP via BootCamp (BC). All went well. I installed the drivers from the Leopard install disk, which seemed to have the latest everything (BC 2.1.1?).
There is a "secondary click" function under the BC control panel in Windows for the trackpad, but it doesn't work at all.
Ctrl-Click also does not work. All other clicking is fine, but it's only left clicks that are allowed.
This reminds me of my original MacBook Pro and Boot Camp beta...

Three fingers and physical click. It's the same in Vista (except Vista's LAN driver works).
Eagerly awaiting the next version of Boot Camp! It's clear it was rushed, from both this and if you insert the CD and autorun (in Vista at least) it pops up with a couple of utilities for a Macbook Air.

  • I used to right click on a picture....

So, I got my MB today. I have a great picture a friend sent thru gmail and I want that to be my background. When I used windows I used to right click and it gave the option of saving as background....what do I do now I am completely NEW to MAC and havent a clue! HELP!!!

You can set up your MacBook to do a function similar to "right clicking". Go to System Preferences, select Keyboard & Mouse, under Trackpad Gestures select the box that says "place two fingers on trackpad and click button for secondary click". Now when you touch the trackpad with two fingers and click, a "menu window" appears with options similar to right clicking!

  • Right Click under BootCamp 2

    Hi all !
I've done all the updates for my windows XP and apple products on BootCamp 2 (Leopard) but I can't activate the right-click.
    I've a MacBook Pro 17".
    Could someone help me ?
    Thanks !

I am having the same problem when I boot Windows via Boot Camp. I have no such problem when I boot the same partition under VMWare Fusion, but I cannot have Aero at the same time
The best I have so far is Shift-F10 (Shift-Fn-F10) which brings up a context menu. This works 90% of the time for me. There is program called *Apple Mouse Utility* that is supposed to provide an Apple-like Ctrl-Click menu, but I have not tried it as it seems only margninally better than the Shift-F10 solution.

  • Erratic pointer:  right clicking in VISTA under Leopard Bootcamp

Hi! This is my first post, so please be gentle! I have searched the forums and, although I can find many similar threads, I haven't been able to locate an identical one to this. Or, more importantly, a solution.
I have the 2.16ghz, Black MacBook which came with Tiger installed. I had been using VISTA under Bootcamp Beta for some months with no problems. I recently ungraded to Leopard (keeping all my original settings etc), upgraded the Bootcamp drivers and everything was still working fine.
Since upgrading to Leopard I had felt that the Mac OS was a little slower in certain areas. Nothing severe, just mainly the time to display the contents of a folder could take a couple of extra seconds. A few days ago, I thought I would start afresh and would do a fresh install of both Leopard (erasing and installing) and VISTA. Leopard now runs perfectly. Very smooth and noticably faster.
VISTA installed with no apparent problems and I used the Leopard disc to install drivers. After they were installed and the machine restarted, VISTA gave me a problem retort saying certain drivers were not installed (iSight, null issues etc...etc...), although they definitely had been. I noticed this problem report is mentioned in the Apple trobleshooting questions but in says it may occur before installing the drivers and installation will resolve the pronlem. However, I didn't get the report till after installing the drivers. Anyway, that in itself is not the most obvious problem (as things do seem to be working, mainly).
My main issue is... When I right-click in certain ares (2 fingers on trackpad and click on button), the pointer "jumps". Sometimes vertically, sometimes horizontally. However it only happens when rightclicking on an item which is part of a list or number of options. For example, if I open the GAMES folder in the start menu and try to right-click on Solitaire, the pointer will jump making it impossible to make a selection. The same problem will occur when selecting from a list of items in a folder. I can right click on the desktop with no problems.
VISTA worked perfectly under Bootcamp BETA and under Bootcamp 2.0 before erase and install. I have tried to install an old trackpad driver from Bootcamp BETA that I found on another forum but when I try to install it, I am met with "...you already have the up to date driver" and it will go no further.
    Can anyone help?

Do you know how to remove a driver (may need to do a Safe Boot for some), reboot, and install the driver you want.
Sometimes, maybe during testing? maybe the presence of the older driver first, and then update.
Meaning that having the older drivers from 1.3 etc, then apply the 2.0 Apple drivers, works best. Remove, install, see how that goes, and maybe then apply 2.0 drivers if you want (I'd wait and see how it goes).
Also, you might want to look into cloning and backing up Vista. I can say that Acronis TrueImage looked good, but eventually learned hard way they don't yet support Mac (EFI/GPL parttitions). So I use Norton Ghost 12. WinClone is working on an update for Leopard.
Might want to send feedback to Apple about BootCamp which is always useful and helpful.
    Just a guess/hunch.

  • Cannot right-click Vista 32 on New Macbook (unibody)

    Hi,
I have a fully updated bootcamp 2.1 vista install with all SP for Vista installed. I've read on these forums that for a right click I need to two finger click (physical depression). Well that doesn't work at all. I have not figured any method to right click...
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Bobby

huh, I have a unibody macbook the new one. What specific update are you talking about? I see the one supplied by apple, so your saying that I need another one to get that in my bootcamp control panel?
Your original comment was asking for the trackpad tab in the boot camp control panel correct? Download and install this additional update in windows :
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/MultiTouch_Trackpad_Update_for_Windows__Vista
Reboot, when you go back into boot camp in the control panel, there will be a track pad option. turn on tap to click and 2 finger tap for right click check boxes.

  • In my MacBook Pro old 2006 late model Lion 10.7.4 how achieve right click from touch pad

In my MacBook Pro old 2006 late model Lion 10.7.4 how achieve right click from touch pad?

The multigesture buttonless trackpad was introduced with the Unibody Macs that came out in Late 2008. Successive models have built upon that, adding 2, 3 and more fingers to the gestures.
Older models don't have the trackpad hardware needed to detect those motions and, hence, cannot support multigestures. Only resort is using combination of keys with the button, as disguise suggests.

See this knowledge base article. Also, you might want to update to 10.6.8 (don't know that that will fix your problem, but it's the latest version of Snow Leopard).

  • How do I enable a right click on my MacBook Air trackpad?

How do I enable a right click on my MacBook Air trackpad?

Apple Menu > System Preferences > Trackpad > Secondary Click
Can be set to 2 fingers, bottom right corner, or bottom left corner.
You can also hold down the control key while doing a regular click.

  • Any Bootcamp issues with the new MBP? What about right clicking?

Tried out the new MBP at the Apple store... was wondering how Bootcamp would work with it. I use Bootcamp all the time for work so I'm interested to here the pro's and con's for the new models. Seems like the new trackpad clicking would be cause issues with the "two-finger click" in Bootcamp.

    Right clicking issues galore!
(at least in the windows side of things...)
    The 64bit windows worked fine....
The 32bit windows had many issues, even after 2 attempts. (via boot camp)
The main issue: the functions keys are locked on. Normally, I would hold down "fn" and push "f10" to mute but that doesn't work. All I have to do is hit "f10" and its muted. That is all good until I have to right-click using the "shift+f10" method since the bottom-right-of-trackpad and two-finger-clicking doesn't work whatsover. The "shift+f10" method won't work now since the fn keys are locked on. We have NO IDEA what the problem is. Could it be a driver issue...though it works fine with x64bit and OS X side of things.
Oh, and mac doesn't give support if one installs Vista and Microsoft won't give support since it isn't on a 'native' pc, so we are screwed. They have both protected themselves and blamed it on the other and the customer is left out to dry.

  • Macbook won't left click, but WILL right click.

    A curious problem.
Over the last few days my MacBook Pro 13 Inch, from 2010 running OSX 10.6.8, has stopped clicking a few times.
A worn out track pad, you would think. But my magic mouse doesn't click either. And the real kicker is I can still RIGHT click, both with two fingers on the trackpad AND with my magic mouse. I just can't click normally on anything. It's not frozen, as I can still right click, and even navigate between programs using four-finger swipe for expose (then swiping back with the mouse over the program I want), and use keyboard commands to save and quite programs.
It's as though it's just ignoring of my clicking, both from the trackpad AND the magic mouse.
It does it out of the blue, and I have had to shut down and restart a few times. But scarily, the last time it did it I couldn't click even after restarting. I then unlugged the power cord and restarted in safe mode and it's working - for now.
Seems unlikely, but the only thing that it's coincided with are a pair of new Seagate Expansion 1TB hard drives I recently bought. It seems every time the click has frozen, one of these has been plugged in. But I've used this type of hard drive and many others constantly over the years. Correlation or causation?
Anyone had anything similar, or can shed some light on this?
    Thanks.

I have been reseaching this problem for the past couple hours because I am dealing with the exact same thing.
I have found two solutions and possible causes.
First, try turning off bluetooth completely. Sometimes if you have a paired mouse or paired device it causes the left click to stop working.
Once you try that and its most likely not the problem, well then I think its your battery. When the battery gets old and starts to go, it will expand. The battery expands and puts pressure on the back of the track pad causing it not to work.
I am buying a new battery so I will let you know the result.
My sources and info came from the following forum, well that one and many others. I know this is a late responce but i hope it helps others.
