Right click on tools

Clearly a big newbie here, super basic question.
CS5 Illustrator on Windows 7, cannot right-click on Tools to access the other tools.  For example, on the Pen tool, I must use keystrokes P, +, -, Shift-C to switch between pen and anchor point tools -  I cannot right-click to have the options displayed.    No trouble in Photoshop, right-clicking works fine.  What am I missing?  thx

Left-click and hold down for a second or so.
This is the method (as explained in the documentation) for all Adobe programs with the familiar toolbox interface. The right-click thing only works in Photoshop and is an anomaly.
Photoshop Help file says, "If there is a small triangle at a tool’s lower right corner, hold down the mouse button to view the hidden tools. Then click the tool you want to select."

  • How do I change the pop up menu for right click to Tools?

    Hi,
I generally know my way around Photoshop but for some reason this has me stumped.
When I right click on the image I'm working in (using my Cintique pen button) I get the Brushes panel as a pop up.
Very handy, but I hate Brushes- I much prefer Tools (even if most of my Tools are modified Brushes).
How do I change this pop up so it shows the Tools?
I've looked in both the PS prefs and the Cintique settings.
Think I'm just not doing it right.
Please help if you know how to make this change.
    Thanks,
    Tom B
I'm in Mac OS 10.5.8 running PS CS3

Thanks Trevor, been trying various options along those lines.
    @c.pfaffenbichler
Yes, I'd like to raise the Tool Presets panel by Right Clicking using the Cintique pen.
In just the same way as I currently do to access the Brushes panel.
"Then what did you mean by »even if most of my Tools are modified Brushes«?"
As above- "A Tool may be a Brush (or an Eraser, or a Cloner, etc) though not all Brushes, etc, are Tools."
Just as one might say "all swans are birds, though not all birds are swans."

  • Right click on tool does not show additional tools anymore.

CC Illustrator version 18.1.1 on Mac Pro, Windows 8.1 partition, mac full size keyboard, logitech mouse. All software up to date, reinstalled illustrator, reinstalled mouse hardware and driver. Reset default essentials and tools window several times and turned computer on an off.
Right click works in other programs, desktop etc...
literally worked one day and didn't the next.
I'm petty sure this has to be operator error but, like, how?
    Its a right click…..
This is how it used to work:
    Step one:
right click on shape builder tool...
    Step two: (automatic)
    other tool options pop up….
This is no longer the case.
If anyone is compelled to say something like… "its left click and drag…." please stop and update the current version of your illustrator to CC 18.1.1
I have no idea how other versions of illustrator work, but I do know thats not how it works in CC 18.1.1
I'm not trying to be a smart ***, please don't interoperate this to be anything other than a guy trying to figure out why the most basic of things is not working and I've already had a great many people look at me like I'm an idiot for asking about this problem….

    buitesnek,
You may try the list which cures strangenesses, especially those that appear after things have been working. Some of the things to try on the list may seem weird, but every one has proved to work in some strange case.
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file, and when it is not caused by issues with opening a file from external media. You may have tried/done some of them already; 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
If possible/applicable, you should save current artwork first, of course.
    1) Close down Illy and open again;
    2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to at least 5 times);
    3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
    4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible), for CS3 - CC you may find the folder here:
    https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/preference-file-location-illustrator.html
    5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
    Even more seriously, you may:
    6) Uninstall (ticking the box to delete the preferences), run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

  • Wacom Cintiq Right Click Brush Tool Problem in CS5

    Hello Everyone,
So I've been trying out the new CS5 and was excited to try out the new brush menu on my cintiq. When I tried it out it was awesome but when I right clicked using either the mouse or pen, the quick access brush menu invokes on the laptop monitor rather than near the cursor like with other tools or other versions of photoshop. It is really annoying to have to drop the pen in order to adjust the brush. Totally slows you down. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
I've searched around a bit and have yet to hear anyone complain about this. I suspect it might be the same for dual monitor setups? Thus far just CS5 has this glitch with the brush tool.
Any help with this is much appreciated.
    Thanks!
    ~Carlos

I'm having the same issues as you describe.  CS5 (64-bit) and my Cintiq seem to be working well, except for the annyance of the brush window location... I'd like it to "pop up" on the Cintique where I'm doing all of my active work.  Unfortunately, the pop-up window will only open on the main (non-Cintique) monitor.
I've searched the web, the Adobe forums, and the Wacom forums, but very little information is available on this topic.  I would think that there would be a lot more activity on this subject, but perhaps there's a work-around that we haven't found?
    Any help is definitely appreciated!

  • Help: I can't right-click on tools or use brush tools with left-click

Like a problem I have tell in my title.
I don't know it's about a problem of my mouse or of the software.
Please help me. Thank you so much!

In Windows there's a way to reverse the left and right mouse buttons via the Mouse section in the Windows Control Panel.

  • I can't open links in firefox. I must drag them to the tool bar or right click and open in a new page

I am running Vista and installed a new version of firefox yesterday plus I messed around with trying to block some obnoxious advertising pop up windows. Now I can't open links and must drag them to the browser bar or right click and "open in a new window". How do I fix this? I tried to restart Firefox but it didn't help. thanks!

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
Try to open a new window and see if that window works.

  • All of a sudden I can no longer open tabs by clicking "+" or right clicking on the tool bar. To open a new page, I have to open a whole newFirefox window. How can I fix this?

All of a sudden I can no longer open tabs by clicking "+" or right clicking on the tool bar. To open a new page, I have to open a whole new Firefox window. How can I fix this?
Also, Firefox crashes frequently. Is there a fix for this also?

Uninstall the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and Firefox 3.6 that prevents new tabs from being opened.
There are a couple of places to check for the Ask toolbar:
    * Check the Windows Control panel for the Ask Toolbar - http://about.ask.com/apn/toolbar/docs/default/faq/en/ff/index.html#na4
    * Also check your list of extensions, you may be able to uninstall it from there - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons
For the second issue, the [[Firefox crashes]] support article may help.

  • SHOW COUNT equivalent in sccm 2012 AND right click tool to add PCs to COLLECTION

In sms 2003 there was a right click tool that allowed you to get the count of the collection in question.  It generated total number or resources, total number of clients and total number of non-onsolete clients in the collection.  I know there
is a way to at least get the clients in the specific collection vs. total resources for 2012 collections, but I'll be darned if I can find it.  I found it once months ago and it seemed that it was in a report, but it has been several months and I can't
find it.  Can someone please help me?  I heard there was a right click tool, but I have tried 3 different versions of right click tools for 2012 and they are hit and miss at best and none of them included this feature.
Additionally, I would like to find out if there is a way to add a list of miscellaneous pcs to a collection in one fell swoop.  I have a tool in 2003 that allows me to do that (sms tools/add pcs to this collection), but I can't find one in 2012 that
works correctly.  I have done the add resource option, but if the machines are spread far and wide within all systems, for instance, then that makes it take almost as long as adding individually with a direct rule.  Thanks for any help you can provide
    on these two issues.

I just wanted to let you know that Rick Houchins' right click tools do have a utility that lets you add devices to a collection successfully (so it's basically a hodge podge here with right click tools, some work better in some utility collections and some
work better in others, but you have to choose one set of right click tool utilities unless you have the admin console installed on multiple machines, not an elegant solution, but . . .).
I still really need to figure a way to get the SHOW COUNT functionality back, though.  If anyone has any information on how to compensate for that I would really appreciate it.  I had found a workaround prior to SP1, but can't seem to get it to
    work anymore.  thanks.  : )

  • Accidentally disabled searchbar and "File/Bookmarks/Tools/Help" area, right-click wont yield the small checkbox menu. How do i get it back?

I was trying to help a friend with this exact same problem, and i noticed that if i right-clicked in the area where the search bar and "File/Tools" menu was, it gave me a little checkbox menu, and it let me enable or disable different things in that area. I accidentally deleted the searchbar, and upon further right-clicking, i mis-clicked and deleted the rest. Currently I only have Tabs and the "Most Visited/Getting Started" toolbar. I am really at a loss curently because I am in High school, and the Laptop i am currently posting this from is my only computer. I need to continue using this laptop for research in my classes, though my teacher usually gives us specific URLs. Withoout a search bar, well.... you see the problem. I have uninstalled IE in a >futile< attempt at freeing up harddrive space. Please! I really need help as soon as physically possible!

In Firefox 3.6 and later on Windows you can hide the "Menu Bar" via "View > Toolbars" or via the right-click context menu on a toolbar.
Press F10 or press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.
Go to "View > Toolbars" or right-click the "Menu Bar" or press Alt+V T to select which toolbars to show or hide (click on an entry to toggle the state).

  • Untrusted forest and right click tools

I just installed right click tools and it's really a great tool. We manage clients in untrusted ad forest and right click tools doesn't work for them because of the authentication problems. Does anyone know is there something that can be done to bypass
    this limitation?

Remember, the right-click tools are simply scripts that run in the context of the current user logged into the console and connect directly to the clients to perform their work. They are not part of ConfigMgr and do not use the ConfigMgr infrastructure
to communicate (because the ConfigMgr infrastructure never ever connects to client agents). Thus, every-thing the right-click tools do is subject to normal restrictions and for connecting to a remote system including authentication and authorization. And thus,
the account you are using must have the proper privileges and permissions on the target client system.

  • SCCM Right Click tools , cannot connect to the WMI namespace

    Hi All,
I think you all know the right click tools for SCCM, there's a strange problem at my SCCM environment, when I use right click tool to push user policy it said  "cannot connect to the WMI namespace on PC01.." , but other
policy like machine it works fine. If I manually initiate from PC01 it works also.
Already uninstall and install the right click tools, restart the server, but still no luck, any ideas ?
Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

Remote user policy request; I don't use the right-click tools, so I don't know what the code inside looks like.  But from past experience, getting the remote user policy refresh to work right was tricky.
First question though: do you actually need to remote user policy refresh?  Do you currently deploy advertisements to collections, where the collection membership is either a bunch of usernames, or is a single entry of a domain usergroup?  If you
don't currently deploy to users or users in a usergroup, you really don't need to trigger a remote user policy refresh.  There's nothing to find anyway, from the client to the management point.
If you do deploy to users or users in a usergroup; you might want to get a copy of Roger Zanders' Client Center, and see if that remote trigger for user policy works.

  • Right Click tools for SCCM 2007 issue

We have SCCM 2007 R2 with Right click tools installed (I know this is not a direct SCCM query but linked to it and thought I might try my luck here)
I use the "ConfigMgr Collection Tools - Add Systems to a collection" option within Right click tools a lot
However in the last few days it keeps failing a lot with the following error message
    Line:68
    Char: 5
    Error: Object required: 'objDialogWindow.document.body'
The Addcoll.hta looks like the following
    Line 68: LineobjDialogWindow.document.body.style.fontFamily = "Helvetica"
    Line 69: objDialogWindow.document.body.style.fontSize = "11pt"
    Line 70: objDialogWindow.document.writeln "<html><body>Adding PCs to " & collName.Value & " </body></html>"
    Line 71: objDialogWindow.document.title = "Please wait."
    Line 72: objDialogWindow.document.body.style.backgroundColor = "dodgerblue"
    Line 73: objDialogWindow.document.body.style.borderStyle = "none"
    Line 74: objDialogWindow.document.body.style.marginTop = 15
    Line 75: AddToCollection ComputerList.value, CollID.value, ss.Value, objDialogWindow
    Line 76: objDialogWindow.Close()
    Line 77: self.ResizeTo 400,550
Has anyone had this issue and if so how have you resolved it?

You need to contact the author of the tool and get them to help out. This is not a CM07 issue.
However having said that it look like you are having a problem with the font.

  • Right-click when using pen tool (Illustrator CC 2014)

Am I imagining it or did I used to be able to right-click to stop drawing with the pen tool?
How can I do this in Illustrator CC 2014 as it seems a bit frustrating to have to keep pressing P.
    Any suggestions gratefully received

    Thanks Jacob,
Nothing generally, it just seemed natural to me, sort of like lifting the pen off the paper at the end of a line.
Also, I am usually holding a glass of wine with the other hand

  • Install right click tool and client troubleshooting tools.

    Hi Everyone,
I need some information, I heave 2012 native mode environment with MacAfee firewall. But I need to install rite click tool and client troubleshoot tools. It is possible or
not, if yes  Please give me the detailed Information.
    Thanks in advance.

The fact that you're running ConfigMgr 2012 in HTTPS and have a McAfee firewall running, has nothing to do with the installation of right-click tools. If you have the permissions to install the right-click tools on a device, with the ConfigMgr console, you're
    good to go.

  • Right Click Tools

    Hi
Is there any option for the right click as is there in SCCM 2007.
my prime concerns are i want to trigger the Software update scan cycle and machine policy refresh instantly on machines part of device collection.
    Regards Sushain KApoor

    Hi,
The features are not builtin the console in SCCM 2012, however there are some updated Right-Click tools for SCCM 2012, which will provide you with that features.
