Right click 'Open link in new tab/window' help
Hi, since I updated my Safari to 6.1 last night (running on Lion) the right click options for "Open new link in tab..." have swapped around and it's only a small thing but it's already annoying me, anyway to swap them back around so 'open in new window' is the first option again instead of '... in new tab'? I've been opening new windows in tabs all night unknowningly.
Hi Andy. There's no way to change it back that I know of.

Right-clicking Open Link in New Tab or Window doesn't work
After upgrading to the latest version, 30.0, the right-click functions to Open link in New Tab or New Window stopped working. When I click the link that I would like to open in new tab or window, the right click window appears, I click on the desired function, and the right click window closes and nothing happens.
I restarted in safe mode and the problem remains. I am using Windows XP. I also tried uninstalling Firefox and then doing a clean re-install and that didn't help.
For now I went back to using version 29.0.1. Yes, I know that it isn't as safe but I can't use Version 30. without the right-click options!!!
I really wish the developers would focus on fixing bugs, vulnerabilities, etc. and leave the basic functions alone! The old saying if it isn't broken don't "fix" it!!!!!This didn't fix the problem so I have decided to revert to the previous version: 24.6.0 esr. Maybe when version 31 or 32 come around I come back to the "latest" version?

Right click "Open Link in New Tab" not working?
When at any website I try to right click on a link and then choose "open link in new tab" and nothing happens. "open link in new window" also does nothing. When first open up Firefox and right click on a link a really long list of options appears as well which did not appear yesterday. I think Firefox updated and restarted my computer last night as well. I tried Firefox safe mode and it still happened.

Right click, open Link in New Tab stopped working
Right clicking on a link in page and selecting either open link in new tab or window does NOT work. Nothing hapens. Just started the other day. Also cannot use Ctrl and right click. Works in Chrome. Right click and paste, etc work.
Try a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before reinstalling a fresh copy of Firefox.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.

I use Google as my home page.
When I do a search in Google I have a practice of opening the search links in a new tab by right-clicking on the link and selecting "Open Link in New Tab". That way I can examine multiple links from the search page, which is now open in the first tab.
The problem that occurs is that when I use the back-arrow in the Navagation bar to return the first tab to its original page, I find the tab name of the original page to be "New Tab" rather than "Google" and I have to click on the "Reload current page" in the Navigation bar to return the tab name to "Google".
I'm using Firefox-25 on a Linux-Mint 64-bit platform with KDE-4.9.5.The problem is just with the name of the tab, not with the contents of the page -- the page looks normal??
I ask about the page because Firefox 23 seems to have introduced a problem with Firefox's "fast back-forward cache" on the Google search results page. It is related to the "instant prediction results" feature interacting with Firefox is some different way. Firefox bug when clicking "open link in new tab" or mouse wheel
I am starting to get this bug for a last few days.
When I am trying to click "Open link in new tab" or, as usual using mouse wheel click, inside a Firefox window I got this for a couple of seconds before page shows up.

As you can see it's a mix of previous pages I was viewing for a last few days....
All those pages was not open at the this moment, it's just like a flash back :O)

When I press right click -> Open in a new Tab on a bookmark on the "Display your bookmarks" icon that is located on the upper right corner of Firefox 4.0 nothing happens. It only works if I press right click -> Open in a new Tab on bookmarks under the menu that is located on the upper left corner. Is this a bug? Is there a solution?

Open link in new tab/window problem
I have the following problem: I have a menu with h:commandLinks and I use faces.config configurations for my navigation. When I choose to open a menu entry in a new window or a new page the old page is displayed and I have to click again on the menu entry in order to navigate to the new page.
Does anyone know what is causing this? How could I make it work so that the user gets the content of the desired page in the new tab/window?

sorry for the late response. I have h:messages on the page and I don't get any errors. I try to open the link so: right click on the link and then I choose "Open Link in New Tab" or "Open Link in New Window".
If I simply click on the link everything works fine and the new page is displayed but when I use the right click menu the same page is displayed and I have to click again to obtain the desired page.

I can't open any links in new tabs without holding the link and dragging it to the tag menu or opening a blank new tab and copying the link location and pasting it in the new tab.
ctrl+click which should open a new tab opens a new window.

Ctrl + left click doesn't open links in new tabs although I don't have Tabmix addon
In a previous thread, this question has been answered as related to Tab Mix Plus and resolved as "Disabled extension Tab Mix Plus 0.3.8.6, now ctrl + left click opens links in new tabs"
However, I don't have Tab Mix installed at all. I have Tab Utilities 1.1.5. Probably that one interfers with the behaviour.
Is there a way to resolve this without giving up Tab Utilities or is there any other good tab utility addon that doesn't prevent Ctrl + left click?
This behaviour appeared after updating Firefox. Thus, I don't agree to consider it just a problem of addons but rather Firefox itself! I don't want to give up Tab Utilities until standard Firefox settings cover all (or at least most) of the functions it offers.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

I would click a link which opens a new window. Then in this new window, I would right click to open link in new tab. The new tab does not show up in this new window. It instead shows up in the original browser window. How can I make the new tab show up in the same window?
Firefox did have a behavior where some new windows -- those considered to be dialogs -- could not have new tabs, so new tabs were diverted to the window from which the dialog was opened.
According to the bug tracking system, a fix is in the works:

That second ones says Target Milestone: Firefox 12, so the fix probably didn't make it into Firefox 11.
WORKAROUNDS

hai i am using firefox 3.6.When right clicking on a link and a window opens up, i want it to ask me "Open Link in New tab" first, not second.
First, you are using a version of Firefox that is very old and outdated. Please update to at least Firefox 3.6.27, or more preferably, update to Firefox 10.0.2. There are lots of bug fixes, security improvements, and much improved performance in Firefox 10.
After you do that, try seeing if you are still having a problem. If you are, is this that when you try to select "Open in a new tab" it opens in a new window instead? Or something else? -

the user jay_ff shows how to do it using the Menu Editor Add-on
1. Install the Menu Editor add-on from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/menu-editor/ .
2. After the installation, go to Firefox> add-ons (or simply use Ctrl+Shift+A)
3. Go to the Menu Editor "Options"
4. In the "Main context menu," simply grab the "Open link in New Tab" and place it below the "Open Link in New Window"
5. and Voila! You may also change other menu options if you want to!
I tried jay_ff method first and found that indeed changing the Main Context Menu did cause the hotlink context menu to change as well.
