Right Click / Tab advance function

I can not figure out how to advance slides when alternate
keys are used (i.e. right click, tab, etc.). I could not find the
download that had been referred to by "Kim" in a previous thread
about right click advancements.
Please tell me how to make this work...I have Captivate 3.
I'm trying to teach users an application and they will need to use
alternate keystrokes often to truly learn the correct function.

1) Right-click is not natively supported but can be added
with a little effort. Options for both browser and .EXE are
summarized in this thread:

2) To advance slides with keys, insert a click box or button
on your slide and use the shortcut key option at the bottom of the
properties dialog. For movies that are published to .HTM/.SWF, some
keys that have a function in the browser, like Tab, are problematic
but most other keys work fine.

Items for addon missing in right-click tabs menu

I use Tab Mix Plus
When I right-click a tab, the menu doesn't show the menu items for Tab mix plus.
I had the same problem with all addon items in the Firefox menu not showing up (they didn't show up under Open menu|Customise either.
I backed everything up with addon FEBE, reset firefox, then restored everything with FEBE and this fixed the menu items.
The reset and restore also fixed another problem where the icons for new addons weren't showing up in the row of icons next to the search bar (don't know what those are called).
I also can't login to this support site in firefox - it keeps telling me to create an account - and so am using another browser for this message and have manually added troubleshooting Information.

As for the icons missing from the right click menu, try to reinstall the add on to see if this solves it like last time.

Why does my right click has no function after update to 10.7.2

I have just updated my software to 10.7.2 and it seems that whenever I right-clicked, there is no function to it. Which means I can't compress my documents, etc. Has 10.7.2 disenabled it? Or is it just my mac that is encountering problems?

go to system preferences, then your device. There you'll find the option to right click. if it is off turn it on, if it is on, turn it off and on.
send feedback to apple about this issue if it was on but didn't work.
People have found toggling the option off and on fixes their issue. that and restarting the computer.

Used to be able to close documents immediately by clicking "X" at upper right of screen or right-clicking tab at bottom of screen. Now "X" is very slow to close. Help?

I "upgraded" to Beta 4 but it created too many aberrations, so I went back to 3.6.15. Formerly, when I clicked on the "X" to get out of screens, it would happen imm3ediately. Now it takes several seconds. But when I right-click on the bar at the bottom of the screen, it closes that page immediately. Is this the way it's supposed to work? Thanks.

If you are getting Siri when you double tap, then your home button must be sticking. Siri comes up when you hold the home button. Try tapping quickly twice. When that happens, the multi-tasking list comes up and you will see the app icon and then a thumbnail, or reduced size view of the app above it. You put your finger on that thumbnail and swipe upwards with your finger.
For that issue, you might want to do a reset of the phone. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot. This will not affect your data.
To be honest, your novel is a little difficult to read, and I think you put too much information in there, and a lot of it is unnecessary. Be to the point and just add information necessary to understand the issue.

Wireless Mighty Mouse Looses Right Click Functionality

I am using a new Wireless Mighty Mouse (about one month old) With new batteries.
Since I started using it, the (secondary) right click would stop function after repeated use. After many frustrating trouble shooting attempts, I discovered that the Right Click will work again if the mouse is left idle for about 15 - 20 minutes.
I will like to know if this is a defect that's inherent in the Mighty Mouse system, and if so, has anyone found a solution to this problem or is there a fix?

Unfortunately my experience suggests no. I'm on my 5th (or is it 6th?) wireless Mighty Mouse now, and they've all behaved just as you described. The latest replacement was only a week ago. I suspect the only point in replacing it further times would be to demonstrate that you've tried all you can. As far as I can tell, my only recourse at this point is convincing Apple to refund me, which is a shame because I like the scroll ball design.
I should note that I'm in Australia, in case stock has been slower to update here, but it shouldn't make a difference...
I've noticed that the problem seems to occur a lot more frequently under hot conditions - room heater on, hot hands etc. Could it still think the left button is being touched because it's warm and/or sweatier than usual?

Apex Calendar Context (right click) menu

I'm using this plugin and it works perfectly for SQL Reports and IRs. For example this function opens a new popup window with the ID selected by right clicking an entry.

Captivate 2 right-click and drag and drop in simulation

Captivate has been suggested as a suitable replacement for
Authorware since the announcement that Adobe doesn't plan to
continue with Authorware. I find myself in the position to put this
to the test. I'm in the process of recreating a course that had
been created in Authorware in a toolset comprised of Artuculate
Presenter, Articulate Quizmaker, Articulate Engage, Captivate, and
PowerPoint.
The simulation created in Authorware has these feautures:
-learner right clicks on items on screen to see a context
menu then selects option from the context menu
-learner drags toolbar and other items on screen to another
screen location
-learner selects item from Windows Start>>Program and
other application menus. As the learner's mouse moves over the
menu, menu options highlight and flyout menus appear even if
they're not directly involved in the simulation
-learner logs into course with an employee ID number. This
information is stored and is used in the simulation in which they
log into the system being simulated.
Can I do any of these things in Captivate?
I suspect I can simulate the flyout menus with a number of
mouse over hotspots - exactly the way it's done in Authorware.
However, I haven't found any way to do simulate the other items:
-use of drag and drop where the learner performs the action
-use of a variable value to check validity of what has been
entered in the text field
-use of right click to advance Captivate simulation.
I'd appreciate any help you can give me. After all, I've
heard many people claim that Captivate can replace Authorware.

Hi Grace,
Captivate is indeed a replacement for Authorware, but only in
the way that an Audi is a replacement for a Ferrari. They do the
same basic job, but you need to do some after market modifications
to the Audi to level the playing field somewhat.
1) Flyout menus are indeed possible, if you're willing to
create "rollovers" that display a picture of the expanded menu when
the user mouses over. You are limited to exposing only first-level
menus, however. Captivate does not allow for rollovers on
rollovers, except possibly via Captivate 3's Slidelet
functionality.
***EDIT***: You can also use Paul Dewhurst's rollover widgets
to fake multi-level menu behavior. They are available from Paul's
site here:

2) Drag-and-drop in Captivate is currently only available as
an add-in Flash object, each of which must unfortunately be built
by hand in Flash. Adobe Community Expert Paul Dewhurst offers

3) Captivate has built-in checking of field values, but you
are limited to hardcoded values only. If you need variable-based

Right click leads to desktop

So i recently transfered all my old file and settings to this new macbook. When I was using my old computer (a iMac G4) the mighty mouse broke and I just used a normal mouse. When ever I right clicked using that mouse, it would make all the windows zoom out, leaving me with a view of the desktop.
This same setting has been transfered onto my new macbook- whenever I right click (with two fingers OR using the bottom right corner) the windows zoom away leaving the desktop. Anyone know how to fix this/ reset trackpad settings?

That's normally the F11 behavior (fn-F11 on a laptop). However, I don't see any way in Apple's Keyboard & Mouse System Preference panel to reassign a right-click to that function. Is it possible that you have a third-party mouse driver on your computer?

T420s right click acting up

Hi all,
after a clean install the right click on the t420s has stopped working. When I reinstall the driver right click is normal for the first minute of use then ceases to respond.
If I switch the left and right buttons: left will perform as expected but the right button won't work.
If I plug in a mouse: everything is normal
Strangely, if I change the right click to another function e.g.. open start menu: it works fine
I've tried a few different version of the driver all with the same result.

I ended up reformating the drive as FAT32 because I still need to use it on my Windows 98SE system also. I did have a problem with the allocation size. I wanted to use 512 bytes but it kept failing so I used the default size(8192 bytes) and then it worked fine. I didn't think there would be a problem formatting as NTFS but since you are having problems I just tried it. It failed at 512 bytes allocation size so I tried again using 4096 bytes, the default, as the allocation size and it failed again. It looks like these drives will not format as NTFS.
Also, I think I figured out what's going on with the ReadyBoost problem. As I said initially it wouldn't work with ReadyBoost then after I had 12GB of data on the drive the ReadyBoost feature started working. After I deleted all the files it quit working again. After doing some reading on the net about Flash drives and ReadyBoost problems it appears that the memory chips on my Lenovo Flash drive are mixed with both fast memory chips that work fine with ReadyBoost and slower memory chips that are too slow for ReadyBoost. Apparently, after I fill up the portion of memory with data that uses the slow chip(s) then ReadyBoost works fine with the fast chip(s). I also verified the Flash drives read and write memory speeds using Vista's Event Viewer. To work with ReadyBoost the Flash drive has to read at a minimum of 2.5MB/s (for 4KB random reads) and write at a minimum of 1.75MB/s (for 512KB random writes).
Let me know what you find out.

Why does the "Move to new window" function that I used to use not work when I right click on the tab anymore?

It used to be when I right clicked on the tab in Firefox that I could use the "Move to new window" option. Now when I go down to that option it looks as though it is going to work, but nothing happens. The other day I changed a few options in Firefox, but I don't remember changing anything that sounded as though it would have this effect and now I can't find any options that seem to fix it. Why was the open link in new tab option removed in favor of a right click? This is inefficient and a step backwards in functionality.

This was an option on previous versions of Firefox and its annoying to right click to open in a new tab when it was a native function in prior versions.

the user jay_ff shows how to do it using the Menu Editor Add-on
1. Install the Menu Editor add-on from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/menu-editor/ .
2. After the installation, go to Firefox> add-ons (or simply use Ctrl+Shift+A)
3. Go to the Menu Editor "Options"
4. In the "Main context menu," simply grab the "Open link in New Tab" and place it below the "Open Link in New Window"
5. and Voila! You may also change other menu options if you want to!
I tried jay_ff method first and found that indeed changing the Main Context Menu did cause the hotlink context menu to change as well.

Downloaded 3.6.13 today and now I can not use my right click function when trying to open a new tab!

When browsing the net I can not use my right click function on a link to open a new tab. How can I fix this? It was working fine until I downloaded 3.6.13 Firefox this am.

Where is the option to close multiple tabs? It used to be a Right Click in the "List All Tabs" function. Now it's gone!

Well I figured out how to get the Tab Bar back where it should, down below where you can easily get to it, but now I see that the "Close All Other Tabs" option which used to be in the right click menu of the "List All Tabs" arrow has disappeared.
Is there anyway to get that back? This design change is really not as good as 3.5. Also tell that person to slow down. Who can understand what he's saying?

In Firefox 4 the Tab Bar is a regular toolbar and that causes the toolbar context menu to show if you right click.
You can right click the tab that you want to keep to "Close Other Tabs"

I have a Yahoo search bar acting like an App tab that I can't get rid of. There is no option to unpin when I right click on it.

I have a yahoo search bar which was installed during a download and installation of SIW.exe a system information application from http://gtopala.com/. It was the freeware version which is add based software. However I didn't expect that the search function would be such a nusance and interfere with Firefox's functions.
The search bar is acting like a App tab that I can't move or get rid of. Ther is no option to unpin the object when I right click on the bar or to change it in any way using the 'group your tab' function to the right of the tab tool bar.

Am running W7 so the XP Tools, Options, Advanced , Use Hardware acceleration when available, wasn't of much help here, however I did fix a problem on another computer running XP with that same fix.
