Right-click to select "Back" works but is accompanied by error sound

Anyone know if Is this a known issue: In Safari (v4 Public Beta, Build 5528.17), every time I right-click and then select Back, the previous page is returned, but I get an error sound as the menu is drawn. This appears to be new with the new Beta and began occurring after installation of the initial download (an earlier build). It also happens using the trackpad.
I'm using a third-party Logitech mouse with OS X drivers, and the buttons are set correctly. I cannot account for the behavior. It's very annoying. An older, now archived post indicated that the behavior was also noticed using Apple mice.
Any clues?

Hi,
There's a chance it could be a faulty contextual menu item that is erroring and causing the sound. Have a look in these 2 folders to see if anything is present, and if so ove them to your Desktop temporarily to disable them. You'll need to quit and restart Safari for it to notice the change:
Hard drive > Users > Your Username > Library > Contextual Menu Items
Hard drive > Library > Contextual Menu Items

What happens if you start up PS CC 2014, first, and then try the Edit In?

  • Right-click Flash selection of webcams no longer works. Bug?

After some tense struggles and several failed webcam swaps, our support team discoverd that using right-click to select a webcam no longer works after our hosted service's recent upgrade. Is this necessary, or a bug?

Yes, the menu driven webcam selection process works fine. It's just the old way to select webcam source that no longer works. The worst part is there's no indication that the selection process that has always worked no longer works. Hence my technican swapping webcams, assuming they aren't working.

    Hi Memalyn
Essentially, the bare issue is that you have a 500GB hard drive with only 10GB free. That is not sufficient to run the system properly. The two options you have are to move/remove files to another location, or to install a larger hard drive (eg 2TB). Drive space has nothing to do with SMC firmware, and usually large media files are to blame.
My first recommendation is this: download and run the free OmniDiskSweeper. This will identify the exact size of all your folders - you can drill down into the subfolders and figure out where your largest culprits are. For example, you might find that your Pictures folder contains both an iPhoto Library and copies that you've brought in from a camera but are outside the iPhoto Library structure. Or perhaps you have a lot of purchased video content in iTunes.
If you find files that you KNOW you do not need, you can delete them. Don't delete them just because you have a backup, since if the backup fails, you will lose all your copies.
Don't worry about "cleaners" for now - they don't save much space and can actually cause problems. Deal with the large file situation first and see how you get on.
Let us know what you find out, and if you manage to get your space back.

  • Right Click Document Conversion Not Working - Acro X Pro

I recently installed Acrobat X Pro on my PC. Brief PC specs: Vista 32 Bit, 4 GB RAM, Intel Dual core Pentium; Office 2010 installed and Creative Suite 5.0; Acrobat X version is 10.0.3.
I uninstalled my Acrobat 9 Pro before installation and had no problems during the new installation. After the install, I began going through the menus and trying different things. I've been working with Acrobat Pro since Version 7, so other than some things being in different locations, all seemed OK. I was pleased to find the keyboard shortcuts, at least the ones I tried, are all the same as before.
I then tried my most frequently used Acrobat mode: Right Clicking and selecting "Convert to Adobe PDF" from Windows Explorer context menu. When I do this, I get an error message that says "Unable to find 'Adobe PDF' Printer or 'Acrobat Distiller' Printer" and a message about running Repair Mode. I've run the repair mode and rebooted the system, but I still get the same message. It also does the same for either the new document format or the older, pre-2007, formats.
If I open Word, Outlook or Excel, the only apps I've tried so far, I can convert to PDF from the Microsoft Ribbon or print to a PDF form the application. I've also tried using the install disk to do the repair. So far, nothing works.
Other that the context menu problem, and it's a biggie for me, I have no problems with Acrobat X other than learning where the menu items are. Any help in correcting this is appreciated.

I had the same problem a few days ago, while I'm still having different issues, I may be able to help you with yours.
It doesn't matter if you are using windows 32 or 64 bit, however the version of OFFICE you use makes all the difference in the world.
For some reason acrobat 9 worked with office 32-64bit, however acrobat X does not.. It only works correctly with the 32bit version.
You can check what version of office 2010 you have by going under file/help and see what it says, if it is 64bit, try reinstalling office(32bit cd) and this problem should go away.
Let me know if this helps!!

  • Right-Click to Select Layers

I usually right click to select an object in my workspace. When there are groups however they show up in the context menu no matter where I click. When working on something with ~15-30 groups this can be very frustrating.
Is there a way to make groups not show up when I right click?

This has happened to me a few times. And every time I forget what I did to fix it... lol
    BUT...
I figured out that I was in Quick Mask Mode for some reason.... (hitting 'Q' on the keyboard gets you there.)
Hitting 'Q' again to get out of the mode and suddenly... right-click with the Move Tool works again!!!
btw, deleting the preferences does nothing to remedy this. Apparently being in Quick Mask Mode is not affected by preferences and stays selected even when you quick the program.

  • Right click export still not working

Sorry to bother with this issue again: but when I try to export the query results by right clicking and selecting the format, it freezes. I downloaded version 1.0.0.15.57 today, and thought this was working now.
One more question: is there in this new version any way to extend the script output to more than 5000 lines?
    Thanks a lot,
    luciano//

You are still limited to 5000 lines. Maybe in the next release.
In terms of 'freezing' it is actually just running the query a bunch of times. There are some other threads on this topic if you search the forum. The only thing that I have heard of to fix this is to use the esdev export to excel plugin (another search on the forum) or by tuning your queries to run faster.

  • Right click and select "Get Info" is SOO SLOW

Whenever I try to edit any of my songs or videos by right clicking and selecting "Get Info" it takes eons before the popup window appears. I am accessing my library on a secondary internal WD Caviar SE16 SATA 500gb drive. My 7yr old PC was somewhat slow, but this is ridiculous.

Are you running the latest version of iTunes? Is this a recent thing that's happened?

  • The right click function has stopped working on by trackpad

The right click function has stoped working?  any idea how to remediate?

It could be as simple as not having the two-finger secondary click function enabled in the Trackpad seetings in System Preferences.
Does Control-Click work? (holding the CONTROL key, while clicking)

  • ITunes 10.4.1.10 how to stop downloads of free news pods?  (right click delete doesn't work) also can't scroll down list of downloads!

(ITunes 10.4.1.10) How to stop downloads of free news pods?  (right click delete doesn't work)
Also can't scroll down list of downloads so as to pause them.  Would like to delete them as ISP has download limit.
Thanks in advance!  (this seems to be a dumb problem of the software having a life of its own!)

I have been talking to Apple support about this very problem. So far they have asked me to disable both Firewall and Anti Virus software (Windows Firewall and ESAT NOD32 anti virus) - this didn't work. Rebuild my library - this didn't work. Un-install all Apple applications and re-install - this didn't work. I have created a second user account on my PC and from that account (both accounts set as Administrator) I can activate Genius. This suggests to me that the problem is possibly linked to my original User Account, which is the one I always use. I am waiting for the next update from Apple and will post an update if/when the problem is resolved.
What I also notice is about 2 seconds in to Step 2 of the Genius activation, the progress diagonal lines bar stops, and then starts again. As soon as I see this short freeze I know that the activation will fail.

  • HT1766 under how to restore it says right click then select restore.  I only get eject as an option why

under how to restore it says right click then select restore.  I only get eject Why?

The devices that are listed are: 2 under the name of the device that synced incorrectly with mine and then 3 others that are not associated with my itouch. The name of the ipod, before the incorrect sycning is no longer under devices.  It has been replaced with the incorrect one because I can see the serial # of my ipod under the wrong name.
The playlists that are in my itunes library are from an ipod that I used a few times before I took this one over... Which happens to be the ipod that took on the ID of my itouch.
Both of these ipods used to be my kids.. I used my sons a few times and then switched to my daughters.  They each had their names attachted to their particular devices and now it just says my sons, which is the ipod that itunes was connecting to when all this happened. The really strange thing is my son doesnt use his ipod any longer and now uses his phone for music...So, it had been a while since that particular device was even synced to itunes!
    I hope this helps!
