Right-clicking on .ics attachment?

When I click on an .ics attachment in an e-mail I'm given the option of "Add to iCal". But when I select that it doesn't do anything but open iCal. The event isn't added. What's going on?
Thanks in advance for your advice and help.
Patrick

hello m4lvolio, thanks for reporting this issue.
however this is a primarily community-run support forum so it's probably not the right place to report bugs (we cannot implement any features & devs won't read here).
if you feel that it's a bug in the browser (and i can certainly replicate the issue), please file a bug at bugzilla.mozilla.org.

  • Adobe Reader 9.3.2 - PDF attachment won't print from right click

    Hi all,
Hopefully someone can assist some kind of suggestion, we have just rolled out Adobe Reader 9.3.2 upgrade from v8.  When we now try to print a PDF Outlook 2003 attachment from the right click menu, we are prompted with the 'Open With' window.  Selecting Adobe Reader 9.3 and press okay opens the document, but it doesn't spool.  We can print the document fine from Adobe Reader itself, any ideas?
    TIA
    Frosty

I have seen the same problem in this forum a couple of times (on Windows Vista and 7 only), but I have never seen a solution for it.
Can you try if Adobe Reader 8.2 does the same?  Download it from here http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/8.x/8.2/enu/AdbeRdr820_en_US.msi
If the same happens with Reader 8.2, then I have no other suggestion than to try an alternate PDF viewer.

  • Right click file and send as attachment to email

can someone point me in the right direction on this. i want to be able to right click on a file and have an option to send email with the selected file(s) attached.
    thanks

Very simple, it only takes one action.
Create a workflow with the *New Mail Message* action, and that's all you need in it. Save this as a Finder plug-in with a nice name such as "New Email", or any name that makes sense to you.
When you use your right-click, choose the More menu and then the Automator menu inside that, and in there you'll see it in there by whatever name you gave it when you saved it.
You can find out more how the *New Mail Message* action works with and without files by reading its description.

  • Firefox keeps crashing when I attach or right click photos.

When I try to attach photos in email or on Facebook, Firefox keeps crashing. It also crashes when I try to right click and save photos from Facebook or ebay. The problem started today. I have tried rebooting and updating Firefox, but it keeps happening. Everything else seems to be running fine.

  • Multiple entries "Open With" command after right clicking inline attachment

In Mail, when I receive an attachment that's open inline in the email, I right click it, and choose "open with", I get a long list of programs to choose from. The problem is, most programs are listed many times. For example, I right click on a PDF, and select "open with" and Quicktime Player.app is listed seventeen times! So what ought to be a list that includes perhaps a dozen entries, is so long I have to scroll through it on a 30" monitor!
How do I get each application to show up only once on this list?
    Thanks

Are you using Time Machine to back up your entire boot drive, including your /Applications folder? It's possible that Spotlight is somehow putting all those entries in the Launch Services database.
    I'd recommend:
    1) Going to the Spotlight preferences and adding the Time Machine drive to the "exclude" list, and seeing whether that fixes the issue.
    2) If not, then leave the drive excluded, and try rebuilding the Launch Services database. Here's an article on Mac OS X Hints which shows how to do this on 10.5:
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20071102084155353
The comment about deleting the launchservices.plist file is because this is definitely an issue with Launch Services (that's what determines what applications can open which files). But deleting the plist file may not be the right way to fix this issue.

  • Why can't I right click and copy a email attachment in mail 7.0

I am tryign to jsut copy jpgs from email attachments without having to save them and when i right click in the new mail there is no longer a copy option.
Is there anyway to jsut copy straight from mail without saving the file.

Only because Apple didn't make that possible - although you can probably Command click it to open in a new tab.

  • How can I restore my iPhone 4's iOS5 backup without restoring iOS if the option to "Restore from Backup" doesn't appear when I right click it in the device list?

(Lengthy question, I know Let me explain.)
A few days ago, I decided to clear out the music on my computer. So, I copied everything out of iTunes to my external hard drive (podcasts, music, movies, tv shows, books, and apps) and deleted all that I could find, including the iTunes folder. I forgot that the iTunes library files were in there, and those went too; unsurprisingly, I was greeted with an empty library when I next opened iTunes.  After adding all my files back from my external hard drive, everything's all good there - no lost files, everything seems fine. However, since my library is a "new" library, iTunes wishes to erase everything on my iPhone 4. Which is also fine, for everything except my apps.  I'd really rather not lose all my application settings and data that are saved in my backup.  But, I cannot just "Restore from Backup" by right-clicking my device in the list in iTunes, so... I haven't synced my iPhone since I did this, so all of my data is still on there, but it's in the backup as well.  If I have to erase all iTunes content, I definitely have to be able to restore the backup over it since I don't want to lose all my settings and Springboard layout.  I'd prefer not to restore iOS because I don't want to go from iOS5 to 5.0.1, nor do I have 8 hours to download the IPSW file on my super-speedy internet connection   Any guidance on restoring my iPhone from its backup?

Here's an interesting bit: iTunes will let me restore my iPod touch from backup: it's still running iOS 4.3.3. I figured as much... there's backups showing in the Preferences -> Devices list for both devices (and even my old, long gone iPod touch 2G), but my iPhone (on iOS5) isn't giving me any such option. I remember I had to downgrade before to get the backup restored (something went haywire in the setup assistant, and I couldn't restore a backup from iTunes there)... If it was possible to go to iOS 5.0 rather than 5.0.1 I would just do the same thing again, but iOS 5.0.1 isn't an option. I attached a screenshot. Hopefully Apple can get this nonsense sorted out; I think iOS 5 might be the root of this, somehow.

  • How can I set a default action when I right click on a file in finder

so that it opens Outlook 2011. This seems to be the only way to email from finder however I can't seem to set the option to remain in the menu and have to go through the steps each time.
I go through this process now.
right click file-open with-other-choose outlook in apps, then it opens the new mail with attachment screen and I am right to go.
I would like to have outlook as the list of options under "open with" currently it offers word, safari, text editor and a couple of others.
Sometimes I send PDF's JPG, Text etc so never the same type of file.
    Thanks.

  • Why can't I just right click on the thumbnails and set the websites I want?

I love the thumbnail idea, but why can't I just right click on the thumbnails and set the websites I want?
Why do i have to wait for a recent one to come up?
Of the 9 available, I would like to set 6 to website i can input by right clicking it and leave the rest for the recently visited.
I ho[e you include that feature in your next update.
    Thank you
    P.S. 2 more issues
    1. Firefox is the only browser that always give me trouble attaching files in gmail. I still use firefox for all browsing but for mail attachments, I use others. And yes, I have done the "Clear cookies, reset, reinstall, clear cache, etc etc etc... none worked for more than a few days. no such problem with other browsers.
    2. Your new updated search bar (Top right hand corner) is nice but can be very irritating for the following reason:
I like to highlight - copy (a word or phrase) - and paste it in the search bar. was fine with the older version, but now as soon as I right click to past, the menu pops up for me to select a search engine. Very irritating since I have yet to paste the copied word or phrase. I rather paste it and then have the option to click on the drop down menu. If you see this as not something masses would want, please place an option in setting for us to stop the suggestion for search engines coming up automatically when we try to right click in the side search bar to paste.

You can change the order of the boxes on the about:newtab page and drag an item to a different tile to pin it to that position or you can remove a website by clicking the close X to block that URL.
You can drag a bookmark or history item and drop them in a tile on the about:newtab page to pin them and have your own favorites sites showing.
Changes made manually on the about:newtab page are stored in prefs that you can find on the about:config page.
*browser.newtabpage.pinned stores websites that you have pinned to a tile.
*browser.newtabpage.blocked stores websites that you have removed by clicking the X button in a tile.
So you can reset those prefs via the right-click context menu to reset changes made to the about:newtab page.

  • Select multiple nodes in a JTree a right click

    Hi all,
I've a JTree and I'd like to allow the user select some nodes (one or more) right click and than show a popupMenu.
This behavior seems not to be easy, because if I select a single node (right clicking on it) the node does not appear selected ; I need to select it left clicking and than everything works fine.
I read some posts found in the forum and the solution seems to be :
    - attach a mouseListener to the JTree
    - get the TreePath of the node selected
    - force the selection on the node with setSelectionPath(TreePath)
This works fine if you need to select only one node, cause if you have to select more, you simply cannot.
I wonder a so obvious behavior is so hard to achieve.
I hope somebody out there had made the magic.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Flavio Palumbo

    Hi Darryl,
I wrote the test case below.
Using the methods you suggested it works almost fine.
The only behavior not desired is when you select a range (shift or control), release the key an than right click ; in this case remains selected the only node you clicked on ; to select the range clicking with the right button, you have to keep pressed the key.
    Any hint would be appreciated.

  • HT201403 It would be very helpful for Apple to re-instate the view as icon option for a pdf file in an email on the right click menu? As far as I can see no easy way for a basic user to get this back?

Would be great for Apple to reinstate the pdf as icon in mail - but using the right click menu. It seems to have gone - and as a basic user there seems to be no simple solution - I used the rich/plain text swap but it didn't work...
Apple - we need you to solve!

    http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
It's highly doubtful that Apple will change this in Mac OS X 10.7 since that OS version has now been discontinued for quite some time. Whether they will change that in OS X 10.9 or a future version I can't say.
If this is a serious issue for you, you can look into Attachement Tamer:
    http://lokiware.info/Attachment-Tamer
It's not free, but it addresses much more than the issue of PDFs appearing as images, not icons, so it might be worth the price.
    Regards.

  • TS3276 Having trouble sending jpeg images as attachments in Mac email.....they go thru as images and PC users can't see the SAVE or QUICK LOOK boxes that Mac mail has.  One friend scrolled over the image, right clicked on it and saved as a PNG file.

Having trouble sending jpeg images as attachments in Mac email.....they go thru as images and PC users can't see the SAVE or QUICK LOOK boxes that Mac mail has.  One friend scrolled over the image, right clicked on it and saved as a PNG file.

Apple Mail isn't going to change the format of any of your attachments. it isn't going to corrupt them either.
Exchange is a transport protocol and server. The issue you describe is not related to Exchange.
There are many different versions of Microsoft Outlook in use and they all have e-mail bugs. Different versions have different bugs. Some Apple Mail hack to get around a bug in Outlook 2003 may cause the same message to be problematic in Outlook 2000. Fix them both and another issue will cause trouble in Outlook 2007. You can't fix this. Apple can't fix this. Microsoft can and has but that is irrelevant if your recipients are using older versions.
One specific problem is that Apple Mail always sends image attachments inline, as images, not as iconized files. You can change this with Attachment Tamer. Just be aware that use of this software will break other things such as Stationery. E-mail is just a disaster. To date, no one outside of Apple has ever implemented the e-mail standards from 1993. Apple has continually changed its e-mail software to be more compatible with the de-facto standards that Netscape and Microsoft have unilaterally defined and people documented as "standards" after the fact. The e-mail messages that Apple Mail sends are 100% correct and do not violate any of the original standards from 1993 or the Microsoft/Netscape modifications. The problem is entirely bugs and limitations in various versions of Outlook.

  • How to keep a border even after right-clicking

I have a JButton around which I would like:
    1) a raised border to appear when hovering over the button,
    2) a lowered border to appear when left-clicking on the button,
    3) no border to appear when releasing or exiting the button, and
    4) a raised border to appear when right-clicking on the button and bringing up a popup menu.
I created a MouseListener to achieve effects 1) through 3) above, but I'm having trouble achieving effect 4).
It appears that showing a popup menu causes my MouseListener's mouseExited() method to be fired. This method, though, is currently only responsible for achieving effect 3).
Is there a way to make my mouseExited() method smart enough to implement effect 4) instead of 3) if it realizes it has been invoked as a result of a popup menu display? In other words, is there a way to make a border appear around my button even when the user has opened up a popup menu for that button?
I tried interrogating the value of MouseEvent.isPopupTrigger(), but that always appears to return false in mouseExited() [ it only ever returns true for me in mouseReleased() ].
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Jay,
Thanks for your reply. Attached is my updated code that includes the popup listening logic. This logic seems to work, except for the following issues:
    1) The button becomes temporarily depressed when right-clicking on it (just as you stated).
    2) If I right click on a Button A to display its popup menu and then move my mouse over to another Button B, Button B becomes raised even though Button A's popup menu hasn't been dealt with yet.
Regarding issue 1) above, could I test for whether mouse BUTTON_1 or BUTTON_2 was pressed to determine whether the mouse should be depressed, or would this make my logic platform-dependent?
Regarding issue 2) above, is there a way to block other buttons from appearing raised while a popup menu still appears in support of another button? Or is there just a problem in my implementation of the popup (i.e. it doesn't expire)?
    Thanks,
    Mike

I don't have any problems printing, but if I set my network printer as a default, nothing happens.  Nothing appears in the print que as being sent.  The reason I prefer to use the right click method is that I receive many email attachments
that needs to be printed and opening every attachment is cumbersome.
    Thank you for your help!

    Hi,
    Thank you for your question.
Which version of Office are you using? I got "Print" too on the menu instead of "Print..." when I right click an attachment icon in the body of an Outlook message. I've checked
this on Outlook 2007, Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013, the same display, thus I think, this is the expected behavior.
Regarding the print issue, does this only happen when you print an attachment from an email message? What if you print an email message or print an Office document directly from the Office applications?
Please provide more details, so that it will be easy for us to narrow down the issue. As an initial troubleshooting step, you can try to delete that network printer from Control Panel, add it again, then verify result.
