Right-clicking on sub-vi crashes LabView 7.0

When I right-click on a sub-vi on the block diagram, LabView crashes completely without any error messages.
I have uninstalled LabView and re-installed it and the device drivers, but it still happens. It doesn't matter which vi is open and which sub-vi is right-clicked on.
It only started doing this last week.

The failure log file is not written when LabView crashes after I right-click on a sub-vi or a control reference.
I just sent email to [email protected] explaining what you told me and I got an automatic reply saying that I need to send them email via the "ask" web page. I'm afraid this will go in circles because I think this is where I started with the process.
Here is the reply I got:

  • How do I Change sub category to a key word tag in Elements 6. When I right click the sub category is the possibility to change not selectable

I want to change a sub category to a key word tag in Elements 6. When I right click the sub category is the possibility to change not selectable. How to do it?

If you want to change the category you need to change the feed, which means changing it in WordPress. You need to pick one category and, if there is one, one sub-category from the official list here:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/specs.html#categories
It is possible to have further categories, though I don't know whether WordPress will allow that, but you should put the most relevant one in first.
Once you've amended it simply re-upload the feed and wait for the Store to catch up. You don't need to resubmit.

    Hi, Fridge.
If Finder quits when you either:• Control-click an object.
    • Right-click an object using a two-button mouse. This may be due to either:• Installed software that added a bad contextual menu item.
    • Removed software that left a contextual menu item behind. What software did you last install or remove? Does its documentation refer to its use of Contextual Menu items?
Contextual menu items can be installed in two places:(1) Your Home > Library > Contextual Menu Items folder.
    (2) Computer > Macintosh HD > Library > Contextual Menu Items folder. If the item is in the folder listed in (2), then:
    - Under Tiger or Panther, you'll be prompted to authenticate this operation by providing your Admin password when trashing it.
    - Under Jaguar, you may have to change the Owner to you (via Get Info > Ownership and Permissions) before you can trash it.

Did you upgrade to Ps CC 14.2? I can confirm that the right click context menu does not appear with the magic wand tool on Windows 7 64-bit with the latest upgrade. There may be other surprises.
Another posting here also complains about right clicks missing context menus. More confirmed right click context menu issues on Windows here.

  • Can 2 remote panels control the same VI without right-clicking to get control?

Is it possible for multiple remote panels to be able to actively interface with a single running VI without having to manually request and release control by right clicking?  I am using Labview 8.2 Professional Version.
    Thanks for any help.

No. Only one client can control a remote panel at a time, see LabVIEW Help ->
"Controlling an Application or Front Panel Remotely Using a Browser"
You might create a copy of that VI and provide 2 web pages as a workaround.

With the release of Flash player 10.1 the right-click (custom context menu) functionality in the software simulations my company builds no longer functions properly.  All files are published at Flash 8 in AS 2.0.  After completing a right-click step the browser crashes (IE 8, Chrome, FF, and Safari).  Anyone having similar problems?

  • Labview 7.1.1 crash on right click of subvi

We've started having a problem on one computer, with a 3.4ghz, Intel dual core motherboard, win XP pro. When a subvi, usually homemade, and begun under an earlier version of labview, is right clicked in the diagram, we get a dialog stating that "Labview has encountered a problem and needs to close". No kidding. It goes away like somebody filed a paternity suit. We are using some Measurement Computing devices, and their vi's seem particularly prone to this. I read the earlier thread from 2005, which didn't offer much help. Have already installed updated Intel graphics drivers(seemed to fix for a while, but NOT), removed/reinstalled Labview,  tried Repair per Travis H. advice in aforementioned fourm thread:
    ttp://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=105471&query.id=402919#M105471
Also tried setting computer to use single core in BIOS. Anybody got new ideas??
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi bill_gilbert,
Thanks for the post and I hope your well today!
It seems you have followed some pretty good advice so far.
Is it only this one subVI?
Have you tried re-compiling the subVI under LabVIEW 7.1.1? Best way to do this is Shifht+Control+RunArrow, or alteratively delete a wire, replace the wire and save the vi.
Are you using a type def that was created in an older version of LabVIEW in this program?
I have also read about a very similar issue which was casued by an error in user.lib because of an icon in the Tools library. When deleting dir.mnu the problem is solved.
Please let me know what you think and if anything works,
    Kind Regards,

  • G5 DP 2.0 (2003) - right clicking on files causes finder to crash

I'm having a rather strange problem - I have a G5 dual 2GHz (2003) with a 160GB HD and a second 500GB HD. I installed 10.4 fresh with erasing the disk. I've upgraded with all the upgrades it's found. I daily fix permissions, etc.
Intermittently, when I right click on a file (say to open it with another program or something or just get info), the finder crashes. When it comes back, I'm able to right click on the file just fine.....until I try another a few minutes later and get the same results.
    What I've done so far:
    1. Fixed disk permissions
    2. Ran disk utility to fix any disk problems
    3. Zapped the PRAM (three chimes in a row before letting it boot up)
    Still have the problem....help!

If it is an issue with the Finder, then it is likely going to be in
    ~/Library/Preferences
... not with permissions (which looks at /Library/Receipts and could deal with a bad mouse or usb cable, but most likely something that looking for corrupt plists might find, or a new user account; sometimes just move/rename the Preferences folder helps. And I would use Applejack to delete the cache folders, always a likely source for problems and corrupt files and very active.
Hardware issues or changing hardware can result in corrupt nvram in which case a single or dual boot of PRAM/NVRAM reset is enough, or quicker still, a trip into Open Firmware (cmd + opt + of) will do the trick with
    reset-nvram
    set-defaults
    reset-all
... and I find quicker, but only when adding or changing PCI, RAM or disk drives.
If you use 3rd party mouse driver (USB Overdrive) then look in that direction.
I had a folder with 1000 items. No trouble. Let it grow to 2000, and still no trouble. But around 2400+ it would just cause the Finder to beachball if I tried to save to that folder, until I broke it down into smaller sub-folders of 500.
Disk Warrior 4 would be another tool to scavenge your drive for files and directory issues (Option click on the Repair/Rebuild button does a more thorough read of the hard drive's contents).
MacFixit has some excellent tutorials and 3 yrs of tips on CD even. There are a plethora of FAQs, too.

  • Right Click Crashes Add-On.

I have an add-on built for version 2004.  It works fine on 2004 installs.  It works fine on 2005 installs except for when the user right clicks anywhere in SAP.  The right click will then cause the add-on to crash and prompt the user to Restart it, continue without it etc.
I don't have any events associated with the right click and I'm filtering out all events not associated with the two forms I'm working with.
    What gives?

    C#
    //Code in startup
    SBO_Application.RightClickEvent+=new _IApplicationEvents_RightClickEventEventHandler(SetupRightClickEvent);
    //Handle method
    private static void SetupRightClickEvent(ref ContextMenuInfo EventInfo, out bool BubbleEvent) {

  • Windows explorer crashes whenever I right-click mouse on any file.

I have installed iTunes 8.02 with QuickTime 7.5.5 in Windows Vista for my iPhone 3G. However, windows explorer crashes and restarts automatically whenever I try to bring up the context menu by right-clicking my mouse on any file, or I press the button "DEL" on my keyboard.
This problem is gone if I un-install QuickTime 7.5.5. However, iTunes 8.0.2 cannot run without QuickTime.
Any solution for this ridiculous issue? Please help!

Yes, I know about the overlap stuff.
Like I said, I was working on it and re-arranging stuff on the page when I discovered the bug.
Actually, I worked around it like this:
Copied the MCListBox to a blank VI.
    Created a generic property node.
Linked the property node to the MCListBox.
Set the AUTOSIZE ROW height false
Set all the row heights to 23 instead of 25.
Pasted the copy in place of the original in the control I was working on.
That's what I wanted to do via dialogs, but crashed instead.
    Thanks for your offer, though.

  • Please help. The Finder has crashed I guess, no icons on the desktop, menu bar and dock flicking. Can't open any app, folder or even do a right click.

Good day, I could really need some information. Thank you in advance.
    I have a 2008 24" iMac, running on 10.5.8.
I want to describe the whole issue. The only thing that changed in my routine and made it crash was that I bought a new Apple keyboard, with a wire this time, before I was using a bluetooth one, and a new wireless Logitech mouse. After I successfuly connected both, while browsing in Safari, the computer totally lagged. All I could do was to manually restart it. When I started it again, it said that the "ruby" application has quited unnexpectedly. After clicking ignore, I observed that the icons on desktop haven't loaded, the menu bar is constantly reopening itself, I can't right click, if I try to open Sistem Preferences that is as far as it will allow me to go, if I click anything else than, it closes system Pref. and leaves me again with this flicking menu bar, which of course I can't even click and an empty desktop. I couldn't see if the problem is only related to my user, as there is only 1 user on it. I tried to create a new one, but I get the problem mentioned above.
I try to see here on the forum if other people have had the same problem, but what I got was minor cases, they can still use finder or an app, everytime I open something, it dies and I only can restart the poor thing
I hope I don't have to delete all my info on my drive, that would be a big problem for me.
    Solutions, recommendations?
    Thank you.

    Hi Paul,
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts (Users & Groups in later OSX versions)>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed. Or an errant process eating up RAM.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

  • Safari 6.0 crash when right clicking a link and choosing open in new tab

Hi all,  just a general question.  I admit i did not search the forums yet.  Hopefully this little annoyance can be resolved.
When using safari on say CNN.COM i'll right click on a link and choose Open in new tab.  safari randomly disappears.  no crash warnings,  just gone.  I can open it right up and be fine sometimes all day.   This has happened to me about 5x since ML was released (i wiped my laptop the day it came out)
This has happened on a couple of different website at different times of the day.  only safari was running. No other apple apps have this issue.
I have a MacBook Pro from earily '08 type 4,1
i have only apple software on this machine
i do have adobe flash installed v11.3 updated today.
    i do have lastpass enabled
    i do have ad-block disabled
While i'm waiting for help from you guys i'll disable all addon's and try to remove adobe to see if that is the issue.  Is there any other steps i can try like delete .plist file or maybe even trying a new user profile.  I am a IT professional and am not afraid to get my hands dirty trying to get this resovlved.
    Thanks in advance.
P.S. i'll search the forums too and if i see a similar post i'll remove this one.
    Bill Siegfried.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
    Step 1
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Post the messages from the time of the last crash, if any — the text, please, not a screenshot.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
    Step 2
Still in the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the process. The report name starts with the name of the crashed process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • Just bought a dell pc with windows 8. on my old pc (vista) i would right click a movie (in itunes format) and say open with itunes and it would play. Now it won't open in itunes and it just CRASHES. HELP PLEASE. is there a glitch with win 8???

okay not sure how this works so here i go again.
Okay i bought a dell pc with windows 8 (big mistake) i downloaded itunes and from my external hard drive, right clicked a movie file (in ipad format, because this worked in vista on my old laptop) and it will not go into itunes. And itunes keeps crashing. Is there a glitch with win 8 and itunes ? I never had this prob with vista. I would right click a file and say open with itunes and poof it goes in the library. Please help before i throw this thing out the window! OH newest itunes is what i have installed.

Take a look at this MBP, a refurbished unit.  Don't let the late 2011 release date put you off.  For about  $500 less than an equivalent 'new' one with similar specifications you get a quad core CPU and excellent graphics.  As Steve359 mentioned, this can be upgraded if the need arises and has the same warranty as a 'new' one
I would not be surprised that these may actually be 'new' MBPs due to the length of time that they have been replaced by the current generation.  I purchased a 17" model about 5 weeks ago, and a serial number check suggests that it is 9 weeks old.

  • Mouse right click crashes any software

Last week I installed Adobe Photoshop CS2 and Adobe Bridge on my iMac Intel, and since then, everytime I right-click the mouse, the software crashes - any software. It happened already wth Safari, Preview, Adobe PS, Photo Mechanic, and even Finder! The left button works fine, but the right click crashes all.
I might say that I use a Samsung mouse, but since I have this problem I already tried changing to the Mighty mouse that came with computer when I bought, but it didn't work. Both had the same behavior.
Did anyone have the same problem before? Or have a clue how I can fix it?
    Thanks in advance.

So, I finally did a fresh install of OSX on iMac, and the right click came back.
I think there was something corrupted on the system that somehow showed up after Adobe CS2. I reinstalled CS2 but up to now, no problems at all.
Thanks all for the insights, they all helped a lot!
