Right driver for a slide scanner?

I have a PF 1800 AFL scanner. I am trying to find the right driver to download so that I can use this on my MacBook Pro. Thanks for your assistance.

What did it tell you the reason it wouldn't allow it?
Was it something to do with not being an identified developer or from the Mac App Store? If so, then that is GateKeeper doing its job.
If you actually trust the installer you down loaded, you can right-click on it and choose Open. It will then let you authenticate to allow the installation to proceed.
If you don't want GateKeeper to do its thing, you can disable it in the Security System Preferences.

  • Unable to install a software driver for Canon film scanner on mac OSX 10.6

I am unable to install a software driver for a Canon film scanner FS4000US. I have downloaded it from Canon then open the package click the install and it asks for a location namely the Applications folder. Then it says it has been installed re -start etc, but still no driver.
I am using Mac OS 10.6. Any suggestions greatly received. I have repaired/disk and permissions and it still does not work.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Select "/var/log/install.log" from the file list. Post the messages from the last installation attempt, starting from the time when you launched the Installer or Software Update.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.

  • ICA driver for Canon MX512 scanner?

I've exhausted Canon Support, trying to get a Canon PIXMA MX512 multifunction printer/scanner/fax machine to work on my father-in-law's dual 2.0 GHz processorr PowerMac C5.  They do have a printer driver, downliaded from their website, that allows it to work as a printer but the only driver for the scanner function is the TWAIN driver which only works on Intel processors.  They suggested that I try the scanner using Image Capture, but Image Capture doesn't recognize the scanner.  Canon does not have an ICA driver, and no plans to create one.  The frustration is that both the Box and the Specification sheet says that the Minimum System Requirements for the MX512 on Mac is "Mac OS 10,5,8, Intel Processor, PowerPC G5, PowerPC G4 (867 MHz or faster) 512MB." Unfortunately on their website ONLY there is an "additional disclamer" footnote 18 which reads "System requirements vary by application"... a "cop-out" which really means that all the functions may not work on your computer, which means if it doesn't work, you're stuck with it!  Even the Canon support tech was frustrated after an hour working with me and consulting his co-workers and reference sources.  So.... does anyone out there know of an ICA scanner driver, canon or 3rd party that might work for this Canon MX512?  The frustration level is high.....

I'd see if the older version of VueScan works for the MX512, it mentions the MX510...

  • Driver for Dell A920 scanner/inkjet printer

Hello. I've inherited a cheap and cheerful Dell printer/scanner (model A920). I don't believe Dell ever made a driver for the Mac... what is the best third party or open source driver to get this printer hooked up to my Powerbook G4 (running 10.4.11) or our brand new Intel MacBook?
    Thanks,
    James

If you have a PC that you could hook the printer to, you can use this workaround to share it:

    Hi,
If you only need basic scan, Vista driver will work:
       http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=298548&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=2100
Otherwise you have to buy new scanner.

  • What is the right driver for iPhone 4 for iTunes 10.2.1.1

I upgraded my itunes to 10.2.1.1 on Windows 7 and tried to upgrade my iPhone IOS to 4.2.1. Unfortunately, the apple recovery iBoot driver will not load and my iPhone has an USB cable icon pointed to an itunes icon and will not start.
I see four drives Apple recovery iBoot USB driver 6.0.9999.52, 6.0.9999.53, 6.0.9999.55 and usb composite. All these drivers failed to load into Windows.
What is the Apple recovery usb driver and how do I get the driver loaded so, y iPhone can start up?

--Tom asked "what format are you capturing?"
    1. What camera (that the Church owns?) are you using now? Does it record to a small Memory card or to tape? -- What make & model is it? HD or SD?
    2. If the camera is storing to a media card, you can (a) copy the contents of the card to a thumb drive attached to any laptop at the church, take it home and import into Final Cut X there or (b) borrow the media card(s) and take it/them home.
    3. What laptop computer do you and/or the Church presently own? What is the operating system version? How much memory, size/type of internal Storage? Any external hard drive storage? You mentioned that you own a Mac Pro at home. What model? (Apple Menu/About this Mac/System Information) What are its specifications?
Almost any computer would be able to simply copy files using the finder - without using Final Cut Pro X for capture at the Church.
One can purchase 128 GB., USB 2/3 thumb drives for about $60 and up.
If your Church's camera is a Tape based Camera, then you could just take the tapes home. No? "Capture" at home. Yes?
You are currently capturing to an esata drive? which drive? which model Macbook Pro do you own?
Finally, is your Church going to be purchasing whatever new equipment that you may need?

  • Udev not loading the right driver for usbtmc device

I have a usb beam profiler  and I'm trying to get it to work on arch linux. It works using NI-VISA, so I should be able to communicate with it using usbtmc. However, when I plug it in, it does not show up in /dev.
I think the problem is that udev is not loading the tmc interface driver when I plug it in.
Here's a snippet of the output from lsusb -v:
    Interface Descriptor:
    bLength 9
    bDescriptorType 4
    bInterfaceNumber 0
    bAlternateSetting 0
    bNumEndpoints 4
    bInterfaceClass 255 Vendor Specific Class
    bInterfaceSubClass 0
    bInterfaceProtocol 0
    iInterface 0
I believe that bInterface* should look something like:
    bInterfaceClass 254 Application Specific Interface
    bInterfaceSubClass 3 Test and Measurement
    bInterfaceProtocol 1 TMC
    iInterface 5 TMC488
Is there a way to force udev to load the right interface? Or is the problem that I'm missing something from my kernel?

Could you post the entire output of lsusb -v for the device?

What device node name are you expecting?
    Not sure, but probably /dev/usbtmc0
Is there a chance that it is being instantiated as a HID device?  Does /dev/usbhid0 appear?
    Nope, don't have a /dev/usbhid0
What does the journal say when the device has been attached?
I'm not sure what you mean, but dmesg says:

You need 3.0 installed, 3.1 etc are updates, and they need something to update.
How do you plan on dealing with Firmware Updates without an OSX partition?

  • Trouble finding the right driver for my Epson R1800 for my Imac

No mattter what download I install (as well as the disc enclosed with Imac) I have been unable to get the exact printer driver description in the draw down window of the printer setup utility. Is there one available for the Epson Stylus Photo R1800 or not?
    Imac   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I also have an Epson printer. You indicated that you already downloaded an updated driver from Epson's website. Did you also downloaded the one(s) that came w/the Epson CD? However, you did not mention that you repaired permissions & restarted after the installation.
If the above was not done, then I suggest that you do so. Hopefully, this should solve your problem.
I just checked the Epson folder in my HD & your model printer is NOT listed among them.
