Right headphone keeps going bad

can someone please tell me why my right headphone keeps going bad. this happened about 2 weeks after I got my 4th generation 20gb I-pod. and they sent me new headphones but it has done it again also I don't BLAST my music only about 75% loud the only problem I may have is that my warranty is up and I didn't buy the extended one because I ran out of money please HELP!!!!

Well, now I have another problem in this vein. It seems that what worked to restore iTunes before, trashing the faulty iTunes folder and replacing it with the backup copy, no longer works. When I do this, iTunes won't even recognize the new folder - I can't even import the xml file. This is a backup from four days ago when I know iTunes was working just fine.
Is there something new about the way iTunes handles files that I can't recover from a backup this way? Is there something I'm missing when restoring my iTunes library from backup?

  • Headphone port going bad?

    Hi all,
I'll cut to the chase; I'm using a late 2011 MacBookPro, the left channel of my buit-in headphone amplifier is dying.  Whenever I plug a set of headphones in for normal lisening, like iTunes, the right channel is much louder than the left.  The problem gets worse at higher volumes as the channel ballance problem becomes more noticable.  I am sure it isn't a problem with my headphones, they sound great when  powered by an iPhone or a reciever.  I only have this problem with my laptop.
Anyone having a similar issue?  Heard about something similar?
When I use an external audio interface there is no issue, but I can't afford to carry that with me at all times.  Also, I just had my logic board replaced so I am wondering if the 2 problems may be related.  Thanks for the help!
    Cheers,
    -Nick

    I would say yes.

  • ITunes library keeps going bad

Over the past few months (since march 28, 2007) my iTunes library has been periodically becoming unreadable by iTunes. I forget the exact error message, but I am pretty sure it has something to do with the iTunes Music Library.xml file. This requires me to re-import my songs, but then I lose all of my smart and "dumb" playlists. The only way to recover everything, it seems, is to restore my entire iTunes folder from backup. So far I have not lost anything significant because of my backup, but it is a royal pain in the bottom to have this happen as frequently as it does. This has happened to me on March 28, April 26, July 4, and July 20 all this year.
I have a MDD G4 with 1.25 Gigs of memory, 1.25 Ghz processor, and a new-in-January 250 MB hard drive with 133 GB of free space. I always update to the latest version of iTunes when it shows up on Software Update. I have not been having any other problems with files becoming corrupt. I am syncing my 5G 30 gig ipod and my wife's 4 gig ipod mini with this version of iTunes.
Any suggestions/ideas on how I might remedy this situation?

  • I have a powerbook problem is it keeps going 2 a black screen  about 1.5 min right before that happens the fan moter turns on how can i stop that from happen

I have a powerbook g4 that i just bought the problem is it keeps going 2 a black screen every 2min or so when i am on the internet.now right before that happens the fan moter goes on .to get back 2 the page i was on i have 2 hit the return key this is a problem. can any one help me with this problem

Powerbooks have heat sensors that control the fan. The fan can run and not be heard unless the speed increases. If the powerbook thinks it's getting to hot it can start going into a shutdown mode.Thats a safety feature. Now if the sensor is reading heat wrong you might need to  reset you PMU- power management control. since I don't know what model powerbook you have, I need to refer you to the apple article on it. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1431

  • G4 MDD power button going bad?

    Hi all -
I'm using a g4 MDD dual 1gig machine. Has been working great for the past few months, till just now. When I power down, the computer won't restart, unless I unplug it. (what?) That's right, the computer works fine, I turn it off and the power button will not turn the computer on unless I physically unplug the machine for a split second. After that it powers right up (at least for now). Prior to unplugging, the power switch does nothing, no lights, no chimes, nothing. It's like there is no power going to the compuer at all.
Does this sound like the power button is going bad or maybe something else? A few months ago I had PRAM/ PMU issues - could they be coming back?
Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I took care of my power-up issue tonight by working on my power supply. Here is the posting I made in another thread:
Here is what I did to troubleshoot my power issue. Your power supply can be serviced and this post offers a couple thoughts and some troubleshooting suggestions. Please read it through to the end. This isn't a cure-all for all G4 Macs, but the steps I followed seem to cover a number of bases and might prove helpful to those who are really frustrated.
I've owned a Mac every year all the way back to 1987 and have never had an issue until now and I am convinced my problem may have been triggered by a power surge or brown-out, which we seem to have experienced a lot of around here lately. This post refers to the Samsung power supply with Apple Part Number 614-0224.
I have a G4 Dual 1.25 MDD I purchased in 2003. I have had a brief issue with powering up my CPU. It wouldn't power up last weekend. I unplugged the power cord, then reconnected it to the machine and it powered up. I reasoned the power cord had become loose, but then last night I couldn't get it to come up at all. Not even a click. No lights.
So I tried all the easiest possible solutions: resetting the PRAM (pulling the battery from the logic board) and resetting the PMU (Power Management Unit). The switch, by the way, is located near where the ATA drives plug in to the logic board. Neither of those two things solved my problem. The CPU would still not power up.
I checked the lithium battery voltage with a voltmeter. It was at 3.6v, so it was still good.
I then decided my issue was probably with the power supply. With the power cord disconnected from the back of the CPU, I pulled the black power connection from the logic board and performed a power supply voltage test following the pin schematic found in this thread:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58561
The +5v trickle voltage found at Pin 9 was not present. I had no other voltage readings on any of the other pins. My issue HAD to be with the power supply.
Tonight I removed the power supply by disconnecting all of the optical drives (I have two DVD burners in this unit), all of the hard drives (three) and all of the logic board connections.
I removed all of the screws from the outer casing of the power supply, including the fat screws attaching the two black fans to the unit and the one long screw in the middle and near the edge of where the two fans are. The casing came right off.
There have been a lot of questions as to whether there are fuses in these power supplies. There has to be some protection for them and I have yet to see any power supply that did not have a fuse or resettable circuit breaker. This power supply was no different...it has a 250W, 8A fuse that is easily accessible and is located on the same side as the male power socket, near the edge of the circuit board. It is hiding under a yellow shield and is right next to a plastic connector.
Bingo! My fuse was blown. Many glass fuses will show some sort of blackness and mine did, as well as being able to see the actual glob of metal where the fuse burst.
What caused a fuse to blow will be different for each machine. I believe in my case it suffered from a power surge. There were no visible signs of burns from arcing, popped capacitors, shorts or bad chips. The board was completely clean, which tells me the issue was near the power source. The fuse may also have been on the verge of popping when I unplugged and reconnected the power cord.
Everything's speculation, but replacing the fuse did the trick in my case and I saved myself time and about $150 (on average for a used PS on eBay). I picked up a second fuse to tape to the inside of the CPU, near the power supply, so I will have a backup fuse if I need it in the future. I may also have a drive that is going bad, or I may have too many drives operating off one supply. My Mac's been configured like this for about five years now. I will replace at least two drives with new, larger capacity drives. I keep my video and digital image files on separate drives, but have a third drive I can blow out. That surely will help prolong the life of my power supply.
While I had the computer apart I gave it a good vacuum and a little air can action. Dust can aid overheating and defeat the purpose of good airflow from fans.
    Hope this helps.

  • Sound goes off, goes bad then effects the PC

I'm a tumblr user and I spend most of my time there on my computer. Recently videos sounds started to go off after a few loops. Then it completely goes off or goes bad like the audio damaged terribly. Even the system slows down. When I checked other sites their sounds are bad too and even chrome or something I listen from winamp gets effected. I checked my sound settings and try to test the sound then I got an error messege saying "Failed to play test tone". It gets normal after restart.
So I thought it's hopeless and I was even thinking of formatting my pc. But when I used chrome all day I didn't encounter this problem at all.

Some problems with Flash video playback can be resolved by disabling hardware acceleration in your Flash Player settings. (See [[Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems|this article]] for more information on using the Flash plugin in Firefox).
To disable hardware acceleration in Flash Player:
#Go to this [http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues Adobe Flash Player Help page].
#Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page.
#Click on '''Settings''' in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.
    # Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel. <br/> <br/>[[Image:fpSettings1.PNG]] <br/>
    # Remove the check mark from '''Enable hardware acceleration'''.
    # Click '''Close''' to close the Adobe Flash Player Settings Window.
    # Restart Firefox.

  • Program monitor keeps going black in Premiere Pro CC

PC - Premiere Pro CC - AMD Fire Pro (13.101-130604a-158071E-ATI)
I'm working on a project and the program monitor keeps going black in Premiere Pro CC while I am working on the timeline. I've got like 28 GB of memory alocated to the program and just updated the latest driver for my video card. No clue why this keeps happening, but the only way I can get around it is to restart. When I go to close down the program freezes and I have to shut it down in the system preferences.
Under a crazy deadline if you can help? Thanks

here's my story. I'm also having this problem with video appearing in the Program monitor. The only thing I did differently is that yesterday when I was editing, I pulled the Program monitor out of the main Premiere interface and dragged it over to my second desktop monitor. that worked just dandy.
when I opened Premiere today, and opened an entierly different project, there was no video in the output window (and it was locked back into the main interface). I also can't select clips on the TL. The software locks up, and I have to restart.
I am able to create a new project and render the countdown leader. I was also able to import the project that wasn't displaying correctly, and have it work just like normal. So I think I'm back in business for now.
I'm deeply concerned though. I'm doing a webinar about Premiere very soon (with rehearsals tomorrow!). A failure like this looks bad for everybody. Also, I don't relish having to re-import all of my old projects in this way to get the basics working again. Any idea what went wrong? Right now I feel like I'd better never drag the program window to a second monitor to enjoy a larger program monitor while editing.

  • Eny M4 with Beatsaudio, sound keeps going out.

Sound keeps going out, have to either reboot or stop and start services.
just bought it,   Win7 Professional, all updates,  uninstalled IDT High Def audio software, sound works, but at a low level, not getting the boost it should have with the IDT software.
    Suggestion?
    W5D

    Hello W5D,
    Let's try something simple first.
Right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select 'Playback Devices'.
Left click the default device once to highlight it ( it's usually 'speakers & headphones' ) then click the Properties button.
Click the Enhancements tab and put a tick in the box next to 'Loudness Equalization'.
Click Apply to save the change and then click OK in all remaining windows
Please let me know if this helps.  If not, please reply with your product number and operating system.
    Good luck!

    PC info:

The problem is the sound keeps going out. An example: I'm watching a video and after a while the speakers start making a soft poping noise. The only solution that I have found to fix this is shutting the laptop for about an hour or so and when I open the laptop's speakers work for about an hour or two. It also happens with headphones. Even if I don't have a video or music playing I can still hear the poping noise. Please help me.

  • Ipod (3) Headphones Keep Breaking

With All The Headphone I Get For My Ipod The Right Ear Always Goes First Then Left. And After That The Headphones Don't Work When I Plug Them In Anything. Is It That I Keep Breaking Them Or Is It The Ipod?

If new one alway work correctly (at least initially), then I would say there is problem wit the headphones, not the iPod. However, maybe you are abusing the headphones/cord, it is not hard to do.

  • HELP my ipod keeps going into restore mode

  • Want to install to d: partition keeps going to c: (no space)

i recently installed windows 7 from XP and i've had a c: and a d: partition for years. apparently, there isn't a lot of room on my c: drive anymore and definitely not enough to install itunes since i upgraded windows (i do NOT have it installed right now, so i can't set any itunes preferences at all to point to the other drive) - but there is a ton of space on my d: drive! (where i just keep itunes, music, pictures and photoshop, really.)
every time i try to install it to the d: drive, it just keeps going to c: and i have no space there and in install won't go through! this is very frustrating because i don't see why it won't just go where i'm telling it to!
gosh i hope someone can help - i haven't been able to put new music on my iphone in weeks
my only option is making the c: partition bigger or combining the two partitions but i need to back everything up first and i don't have the means to do that right now... so sticking with trying to install it on the secondary partition is my only option!
    is this even possibe???

Hi Marga, did you get a DLL file, which you could copy directly into a Firefox folder, or did you get an EXE or MSI installer file?
If you got a DLL, try pasting it here:
    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\browser\plugins
''(Note: you might need to create that folder if it does not already exist)''
For EXE and MSI files, some users (and some administrators) may have "broken" some installers last year when there was a malware problem that led them to create a software policy which prevents executables from running from the TEMP folder or from the \AppData\Local folder.

    Hello fixitguy,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I understand your monitor keeps going off and on. There is very little troubleshooting available to a monitor. I would suggest you un-plug the power cord from the wall and the computer. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds and then plug it back in. If you are still having issues you can try restoring it to factory in the menu options on the monitor.
Otherwise, if the monitor is under warranty contact HP Technical Support for repair options.
You can also try to replace the power cord using the following part numbers. The parts can be purchased from the HP Parts Store.
    8121-0729 - Argentina
    8121-0735 - Chile
8121-0739 - Singapore, Hong Kong and the UK
8121-0740 - USA, Canada, Mexico, and Taiwan
If it is not under warranty and the power cord replacement does not work, it looks like you may need a new monitor.
I would like to thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!
