Right proceedure for reinstalling  Dreamweaver (CS4 Web Premium)

I may have to reinstall my Win 7 Pro system due to a number of little quirks that are popping up.  Same PC ...same HDD etc.  I do have an image backup...but not from as early as I would like to go.  Thinking a clean install would be best.
What is the best way to do this so I don't lose/or invalidate my current activation of Web Premium CS4 ?
Thanks much...TR

Thanks John...just to be clear...should one "deactivate all CS4 programs in the suite or will deactivating 1 deactivate all installed CS4 Web Premium apps ?

  • Lost help files for whole Suite CS4 Web Premium

I upgraded my home PC to a new motherboard & CPU.  Did NOT have to reinstall Windows Pro 64bit OS...everythign seems to be OK..except Adobe Web Premium?
Two issues:  1) I did NOT deactivated CS4 prior to the MB & CPU upgrade...system did start up and all CS4 programs run OK ?  Did I use up an activation here and how do I tell.....?...and if so can I get it back ?
    2) All my CS4 application help files are gone...I either get a message saying can't find/reinstall CS4...or simply nothing happens at all when I click Help or F1 ?
Any ideas on solving either/both of these issues will be greatly appreciated?

Thanks for the quick reply...I have 1 last  procedure in my upgrade process and that's to clone the original HDD (with CS4 on-board and still the boot drive) to a new Sata3 drive already formated and installed in the box.
Will a clone operation affect the activation issue with CS4...and if so...should I "deactivate" CS4 prior to the cloning operation ? The original C: dive will be wiped and used for backup/storage.
Will I still then have 2 installs on my license...with only the new Sata3 installation to date ?
The only help file in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Help\en_US is the PhotoShop 11 Help which appears to be complete...however I still get the error in the attached help.jpg ?
    Thanks...TRinAz

  • CS4 Web Premium works; Acrobat 9 asks for key

I had very many difficulties with my license manager when installing my CS4 Web Premium. The flexnet process was issuing an error when it was started. Lots of contact with Adobe's customer support did not help. Finally I installed a trial version of Photoshop Elements 7 and that fixed the license manager. Finally my CS4 Web Premium could be installed and I could run my Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver etc. But... when I want to run Acrobat 9 it asks for my serial number.... Does anyone know a solution for this? I don't feel like installing the package for the fourth time. It takes hours.
I am very disappointed in Adobe's licensing strategy. Users who buy the software have to go to lots of troubles to get it installed and working; and hackers provide the newsgroups and torrents with cracked versions which run without a hassle...

I have the same problem and the same questions about Adobe's licencing strategy.

  • CS4 Web Premium (Dreamweaver mostly) PC or Mac

    Hi
I am looking to purchase CS4 web premium (dreamweaver, fireworks, photoshop, illustrator etc..)
I currently own a windows vista laptop with a 14" screen, so I am wanting to purchase a new machine with a bigger 22"+ screen.  My question is should I go for a pc or a mac.  Which is best for running the software?
I am using the software to design my own web sites only, so not for other commercial work.  I am looking at static sites and eventually database driven sites. Mac or Pc which is best for me.  Thanks

Any of them will do. If it's just for your personal needs - go cheap and buy a PC. Better bang for the buck. You can find some decent mini/ micro PCs that should be sufficient for web design, occasional Photoshopping and even games and generally have a wider choice of options. The only alternative to this on the Mac side would be a Mac mini or an iMac, but iMac screens are rubbish and the cost of a Mac mini plus an eye-friendly LCD screen is still higher than a comparable PC+screen. Of course, the bigger the budget you have, the less critical this becomes...

  • Reinstalling CS4 Web Premium on Mac after having to reinstall complete backup

I just had my macbook pro's hard drive wiped clean, had Yosemite reinstalled and then i installed my latest full back up. I didn't realize I had to mess w/ my CS, so adobe sent me a link to download CS4 Web Premium. I uninstalled (as directed) and I've downloaded the file (called ADBESTWDCS4_LS1.dmg) and on my desktop I have a folder called CS4 Web Premium Disc 1. When I open that there are 3 read me links and and icon for CS4 Web Premium. When I open that there four folders, an icon that says setup (that I can't open) and 'bootstrapper.dmg'. Adobe's documentation for installing says to double click the dmg file and follow the instructions. There are no steps provided when I double click on either of the aforementioned .dmg files.
The read me file says Mac OSX v10.4 - 10.5.4, but I'm on 10.10.2. I was running the Creative Suite programs just fine on this.
Sorry if I'm missing the obvious?
Thanks for your help, so behind on work!

Well, when I double click it, it just does what I listed above. It's on my desktop and in the Applications folder. Looks like this. When I open this top folder, then I get more options, including the bootstrapper.dmg. Double clicking boostrapper.dmg opens another folder...it's got a file called Setup (has an Ri on the icon). If i change my preferences, I can open, but I haven't seen anywhere that says "open setup". guess i'm confused as this is way more work than any other program i've installed. Again, I'm not "double clicking and follow the instructions that are on screen" that Adobe docs mentioned.

  • Flash will not install from CS4 Web Premium on XP

I installed CS4 Web Premium a while back and, since I do not do a lot of Flash development, I didn't realize right off that Flash CS4 did not install. However, I just tried to go back and install it from the DVD and it shows in the list but the box in front of it is uncheckable. The heading at the top says to check the boxes to install or reinstall the applications. Other programs such as Dreamweaver, Contribute, Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc. can be checked but the box in front of Flash (and Soundbooth, etc.) are unresponsive. I do still have CS3 Web Premium on this machine which has Flash CS3 Professional and Flash CS3 Video Encoder as well as also still having Studio 8 and CS 2 with Flash 8 and Flash 8 Video encoder and InDesign CS2 & CS3, Visual Communicator, VlogIt, etc.. Do I need to remove any of those first? This machine is about 3 years old (Dell Optiplex GX620) running Win XP. I'm about to upgrade to a new machine in about a month that will be running Windows 7. So I will be doing a clean install of CS4 Web Premium then. But it would be nice to fix this so I can work on some Flash files before then. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, I'm assuming you are using the Manual Install. Did you already Uninstall any current Flash Player version?
If not, download and SAVE to your Desktop the Uninstaller:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
Then download and SAVE to your Desktop the Installer:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html
Use the EXE Installer for Windows and Internet Explorer. Use the EXE Installer for the plugin based browsers
Then use the Administrator Account and CLOSE all browser Windows. Disable any instant messenger service from the system tray.
Run the Uninstaller and reboot(restart) your computer.
Then Run the Installer and reboot.
That message appears because the IE browser window is open.
    Thanks,

  • Existing Kompozer Website but Wish to Start Over W/CS4 Web Premium

Hopefully, i am in the right place to ask these question. I'm a real novice but we needed a web presence and tried a hand at Kompozer. With no prior experience, or training actually managed to get something up. The site has only a single page at the moment with two external link buttons.  But now we would like to turn to CS4 Web Premium. I have read and watched any number of tutorials and some say, Download the Existing (Remote) site using an FTP program such as Filezilla and then edit it Locally.
I am under the impression you don't actually need to use Filezilla, or another FTP with CS4 Web Premium, as it has a built in FTP feature?
Can someone please educate me and hold my hand and walk me through this process?
I've downloaded my entire site to my desktop from a Backup provided by the hosting site. I'm not sure if this is what I need for an edit.
The hosting site gave/gives the option to download The Entire Site, or just certain folders but being "green" I wasn't sure about this option.
OTOH, If I were to start from scratch can I design A New Site Locally while the Kompozer built site stays up and then simply replace the current site with the New CS4 created one? Can I configure CS4 to Publish the changes from the existing file names and settings?
For example my current site is comprised of a single folder (on my desktop) containing 6 items total; An index.html, 4 individual jpg images and a single favicon ico (which i did upload separately as Kompozer didn't want to cooperate at the time. Admittedly I'm not even sure what FTP program I resorted to in effort to get it done ) .
I'm a little concerned I might delete a file that was there when I first set up the webhosting before I actually uploaded anything.
My web hosting provider (Blue Host)  said, Where Dreamweaver Asks What Folder on The Server Do You Want To Store Your Files In? The Path you put in is Public_html and provided a link to a tutorial but it seems it is for a New Site as opposed to editing an existing one.
A genuine Thank YOU in advance for any assistance, suggestions and Tips. I know we all have to start somewhere in effort to learn.

You really should post this in the Dreamweaver forum but if you have the FTP information for the site it's a one click procedure to download it to your local machine and work on it in Dreamweaver.

A genuine and most sincere Thank You in advance for any assistance, suggestions and learned Tips.
I know we all have to start somewhere in effort to learn.. Please be gentle with me.

I would recommend leaving your company website on the server for now until you have created your new one  :-)
On most servers, public_hmtl is the folder where all the files reside to make the website 'live'.  That's the name of the folder I have to upload all my website files to on my server as well.
Without seeing the code produced by Kompozer, and guessing it is a WYSIGWYG editor, then I'd strongly suggest that you start from new  :-)  Seeing as you only have one page at the moment, it won't be a monumental task to start over.
I'll supply you with a few tutorials found at the Adobe site that will help you get started, in particular - a tut on working with DW templates., which will be the answer for you if you have more than one page but up to 10 for example, if it's going to be much larger site, then using Server Side Includes may be the way to go.
This is the one you should probably read through first:

  • CourseBuilder for Adobe Dreamweaver CS4

I posted this question in the Dreamweaver Extensions Forum; but wonder if it should also be posted in a more general location. Please excuse this cross posting.
In CourseBuilder Help > Getting Started > Learning CourseBuilder for Dreamweaver:
    \Application Data\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS4\en_US\Configuration\CourseBuilder\Help\ContextHelp.htm
    I find:
"Learning CourseBuilder for Adobe Dreamweaver CS4"
"The CourseBuilder for Dreamweaver CS4 package contains a variety of resources to help you learn the program quickly and become proficient in creating your own Web page interactions."
"These resources include online help pages that appear in your browser, a tutorial, and a printed book."
Where is this printed book to be found?
"In addition, the CourseBuilder for Dreamweaver CS4 Support Center site is updated regularly."
What is the URL of this site?
I'm am very pleased to see CourseBuilder updated for Dreamweaver CS4, but can only find it included with the eLearning Suite.
Is it also available else where?
I would appreciate any help anyone can give,
    Thank you,
    David J. Hark
    [email protected]

I'm a little frustrated too. I have the web premium suite of CS4 products and I very much need to publish my dreamweaver course in a SCORM package. I also need to use the interactions etc. available in Coursebuilder. It doesn't seem right that I have paid a lot of money for the web premium package but can't get coursebuilder. The coursebuilder version that works in dreamweaver 8 doesn't work in cs4.
RapidIntake has the coursebuilder version for dreamweaver 8 but they don't have one for cs4.
Is there no solution to this problem other than buying the eLearning suite?

  • Install demo of CS4 Web Premium-Photoshop Installs 64 bit and x86 versions but 64 bit does not work

Just installed the CS4 Web Premium demo onto a brand new 64 bit i7 processor with Windows Seven Home Premium machine with 9gb memory. The install seems to be fine except it installed a 64 bit version as well as x86 version into different folders. The x86 version works fine but the 64 bit version does not.
Every time I try to open a file using "Open With' I get the following message "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application."
First of all why does it install both versions and why does it try to open everything in the 64bit version even after specifically telling it to open in the x86 version (even after setting the default file association to the x86 version.
I would of course like to use the 64 bit veriosn but if it not going to work. I'll use the 32 bit version. I just wantto be able to right click my mouse and be able to "Open With". I can open Photoshop 32 bit and open the file that way but it is a pain to do that way.
    Any help would be appreciated

Both are installed to allow you to use 32 bit plugins. As for the problem, you'll get far more attention in the Photoshop forum.

  • No Acrobat Pro 9 in CS4 Web Premium?

I purchased an upgrade from Studio 8 to CS4 Web Premium via the Adobe Store and downloaded all of the files listed on the download page. When I was done running all of the install programs, which included some add-on fonts and other stuff, I could not find Acrobat Pro 9. After reviewing all of the documentation and searching the KB and forums, I initiated a chat but the agent claimed that he couldn't access those records and told me to call the 800 number. I called but after listening to crummy music for 15 minutes, I hung up. Next, I submitted a Customer Service ticket. The ticket has sat there for 3 days with no response. I've posted a comment each day voicing my frustration, to no avail. Not getting any help, I downloaded Acrobat Pro 9 Pro Trial Edition and installed it, only to find out that my serial number didn't work on that installation of Acrobat Pro. Today I called the 800 number again and got through to a human. Maybe it was a language barrier but I had to repeat everything 3 times and then she would tell me to do something that I just told her I had already done. Finally I was transferred to someone I could understand and who could understand me. I also learned that no Acrobat Pro 9 install except the one with the suite would work so I removed Acrobat 9 Pro Trial Edition. Finally, after many questions and checking everything we could think of, he suggested trying the installer again to see if Acrobat 9 Pro was listed as one of the programs in the suite but just didn't get installed. I found no Acrobat 9 Pro on the list of available software listed on the installer screen. I have updated that second ticket which was started by the final person I spoke to and I sit here waiting. I want my software and want someone to tell me how to obtain the product I paid for! With so many companies finally taking an interest in customer service and support, Adobe sure doesn't seem to be following that trend. This is one of the worst support experiences that I have had for a long time. Granted, I only interact with support systems occasionally but even so... I love the note saying the "We would love to hear from you" but the only method to contact them is by phone. How many people are going to wait for such a long time just to tell someone that they provide poor customer service?

Why don't you call support again and ask if you can have a copy of the discs with your serial number? I don't know if there is a small fee but I prefer to have discs than a download. Then you can try reinstalling.

  • CS4 Web Premium (Student Ed) Online Install - Setup.exe does nothing

I purchased and then downloaded CS4 Web Premium Student Edition. The first download was corrupted (due to an internet failure midway) so I erased and re-downloaded. The files extracted without issue under the new download. However, whenever I attempt to install by clicking Setup.exe, nothing happens. The cursor changes into the "hourglass" as if the system is processing something, then it changes back to the normal cursor -- and nothing happens. No processes are available in the Task Manager, either.
Following advice I've found scattered across forums all over the web, I have removed every Adobe software previously installed using Control Panel (Acrobat, Reader, PsE, PrE, & a trial Illustrator), disabled User Account Control, disabled antivirus/firewall software, ran Setup "as administator", tried Safe Mode, and restarted the computer several times. None of these methods produced any change in outcome whatsoever.
I am running HP Touchsmart tx2z, less than a month old and running like a charm, with the following specs:
Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64-bit) *I download all available updates
    AMD Turion(TM) X2 Ultra Dual-Core Mobile Processor ZM-87 (2.4GHz, 2MB L2 Cache)
    8GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    500GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
ATI Radeon(TM) HD 3200 Graphics with 64MB Display Cache Memory
Devoid of other advice, I will try reseting my system to factory defaults. However, I dread re-downloading the 4GB file (an 8 hour process), reconfiguring my system, backing all of my files up elsewhere, and reinstalling all other new software -- so any ideas are appreciated.

    extra information,
when i run setup for premiere CS4 and open the setup in windows task the size is the same as the setup folder.
when i run setup for web premium CS4 and lopen the setup in windows task the size is 0,0 mb.
think this is the reason why the setup wont start.
hope this extra information is of any use
