Right side of trackpad will not click.

Over the past couple days I have noticed my trackpad acting up, and have realized that the right half, or at least most of it, does not respond to clicks. Tap to click still works, though I don't usually use this feature, and I can still move the cursor when I drag the right side. It is only the physical click that seems to be broken. What causes this issue, and would this be covered under my extended warranty if I had to get it repaired?

This just happened to my MacBook Pro. Were you able to take it to Apple for a replacement of the broken parts?

I had my top navigational bar set up to fill in a 100% browser width. Now, only the left side red line will appear and the right side will not work.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Ah, I understand now. Menus will stretch to 100% browser width in terms of any background applied to the top level Menu widget, but the actual items will not be stretched or fitted at the moment. I'd recommend adding that to our ideas section so that others can vote on it. It would also help if you clarify what you'd expect. Would you want the menu items to grow, or the space between them? And what would you expect if one of the menu items became too long for the container? Should the text wrap, or should it not be able to get smaller than that?

  • My trackpad works perfectly fine but will not click anymore, without the clicking sound its hard to use

My track pad works 100% perfectly but it will not click, which makes it a little hard to work out where i am supposed to click and take a bit longer to work out what i am doing

Try cleaning around the edges of the trackpad
Also check your settings >Sys Pref>Trackpad  and see if something changed.

  • Trackpad will not scroll imac

I bought a new iMac last year and was busy so I didn't use it much. Along with a trackpad and a wireless mouse. The mouse works as expected however the trackpad will not scroll a Safari Window.
It will scroll when connected to my 5 year old Macbook. I took the trackpad to an Apple store and it worked fine on the geniuses laptop there.
It just doesn't scroll a windwo on my iMac. I have experimented with the settings endlessly but it just doesn't scroll. I tried calling tech support and they said take it to the apple store which I did. I just now noticed that in a safari window the slide bar disappears when I use the trackpad. but reappears wheh I use the mouse.
I  hope I don't have to lug the entire computer back to the Apple store. It seems like a software issue to me. Any suggestions welcomed here.

how do you try to scroll ?
some people are used to trackpads scrolling when they move their finger out in the right side or the likes
with newer macs one scroll by placing 2 fingers beside eachother and moving them up and down

I just created a new profile/user on my MacBook Pro. My pointer/mouse on my trackpad. It works fine in my older user profile, but when I go to the new profile my mac will not respond to clicks. The Mouse moves but will not click. Already tried restarting and the pram zap. The problem starts when I log out of my main profile. I get to the login screen and my laptop stops responding to clicks. When I manage to make my way back to my main profile the mouse works perfectly.  Should I just delete the new profile and try again?

If the modem is also a router, either use the modem in bridge and run pppoe client on the TC.. that is assuming ADSL or similar eg vdsl. If it is cable service.. and the modem is a router, then bridge the TC.. go to internet page and select connect by ethernet and below that set connection sharing to bridge.
Please tell us more about the modem if the above gives you issues.

  • Trackpad will not select user after Mac restart

Trackpad works fine normally but after restart of Mac, will not click on user (cursor moves over it) so I have to use a mouse to click & enter password.  All software is up to date.  Any ideas.

The following was suggested on another thread but I've tried it & it doesn't solve the issue:
System Preferences > Trackpad > Point & Click
    Tap to click
    Secondary click
Uncheck the boxes to it  if they are checked and recheck them back.
    Any other ideas?

My track pad scrolls but will not click any ideas ?

If when pushing down neaer the bottom of the trackpad you can't get it to click and you don't hear an audible sound and feel it click then the trackpad has something stuck under it or it has failed. You'll need to take it in to an Apple store to have the trackpad replaced or removed and cleaned if that is possible.

I looked at the same sight for that and it does not say that.  This is the first time I have posted a question, you don't have to be mean about it.  I am trying to get this to work for a good cause.
It may be the best source of assistance is the manufacturer of the device. I suspect you will need a specific app for the iPhone to get it to work, but the site is rather ambiguous about that.

  • Trackpad will not recignise commands

M laptop will not recognise any commands on trackpad. Will only recognise dashboard from a mouse & will not recignise anything from keyboard.

    Hey Jayne15,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, the trackpad will not respond and the keyboard is having trouble too. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.

  • Just installed Lion and now my trackpad will not zoom

Just installed Lion and now my trackpad will not zoom in and out and the direction of going up and down have reversed.

I have had Lion since it was first released July 20th, and I have noticed that I can not zoom in on everything that is on the internet, some things seem to not be able to be zoomed in on.  Are you saying that no matter what website you go to (this one for eample) the zoom function does not work?

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and  Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Disk drive will not click or accept disks ?

Disk drive will not click or accept cd's or DVD's

What I did was I kept putting it in until it accepted it. I don't know if yours will do this. With any disc, my iMac and my mom's MBP accepted discs after about 20 tries.

  • HT4325 My Yamaha AV RX-V675 Reciever AirPlay icon will not click on.

I have just purchased a new Yamaha AV Receiver RX-V675 which is AirPlay capable.  I have everything installed and configured as per directions in the Yamaha manual and according to Window& and iTunes directions.  iTunes AirPlay icon shows the receiver (with a speaker icon).  However when I click to initiate the Yamaha it will not execute nor will a check mark show up.   Everything seems set up correctly as far as I know.  I am looking for help and a solution.  I have updated my firmware on the Yamaha and set up with the following equipment configuration:
    Dell Studio XPS
    Win7
Yamaha is on a hard wired network connection
    iTunes 10.2.2.14
W7 set up for HomeGroup network and sharing
    Router  - Netgear WGR614v9
Problem is that the Yamaha AirPlay icon in iTunes will not click on.

Airplay on Yamaha's models is extremely unstable.
It appears that the Airplay broadcast that's built into the receiver will crash - and it does, often.
That said, you can force the receiver to refresh it's Airplay receiver broadcast by renaming the receiver's network name.
    1. Load the receiver's web interface in a browser (if you don't know the IP, you can check it in the network settings menu in the onscreen display).
    2. Once you do, you should be able to click the 'Settings' button and rename the network.
    3. Click the Apply button - this should complete the process of renaming the receiver.
