Right Side USB Port not working

I own a Portege Z835 P330. The USB port on the right side of the laptop does not work, but the ones in the back are fine. Am I missing a driver? How do I fix this? (my computer runs on windows 7)

Compag Laptop Right Side USB Port not working

I have a week old Compaq CQ56-115DX. Today for the first time I tried using a flash drive, first in the port on the right side. I didn't get any tones or pop-ups, like you'd normally expect. Then I tried the two on the left side. No problem with them. I wonder if this right-side port has some special configuration, like for some specific use that wouldn't respond to a flash drive. I see no alerts (yellow triangles) in Device Manager. I have read a few things on the Web about reinstalling USB devices, but thought I'd check here first for advice.

That wouldn't be the problem (a dedicated port). The frontside ports of some machines have less power then rear facing ones in general, due to how they are connected, but in your situation, this wouldn't apply. I would definitely try the reinstallation of the USB drivers (uninstall and allow to refind) and if not, bring it back to the store since by your post, you indicate it's within the return period (14 days from date of purchase). Definitely, all your USB ports should be working.
To receive your in-store service, you will need to take your computer to your nearest Best Buy location. When you arrive at the store, please take your computer directly to the Geek Squad counter where one of the Counter Intelligence Agents will be happy to help you. I would take everything with you (box and all) in the event that an exchange is needed of that device.

Left side usb ports not working

my laptop has three usb ports. 2on left side and one on right side. since few days the ports on the left side are not working while the one on right is working fine. even when attach my mobile with usb it only shows the charging light and the phone charges. but there is device or popup on the screen regarding any insertion.i have tried all the necessary measures suggested on internett but they are not working for me. please help.

Replacement HP Right single USB Port not working

I ordered a replacement USB Port (Single right side - only non soldered USB Port on my notebook, unlike the 2 on the left)from EMPR Australia. Today I took the replacement part and my notebook to a computer repair business, who replaced the part.On the invoice the technician claims, that 'Replaced USB Board & tested OK'.(No prior testing and diagnosis was requested from me, as I called HP before and worked out that this particular USB Port was the problem/not working.) Anyway, after I picked up my notebook, I plugged in the USB transmittor for my Microsoft Sculpt Wireless Mouse, then after pulling that out, I tried one of my USB Flash Drives. Neither device was recognised as being connected to my single right USB port. I had a look on Device Manager and checked to see whether each USB related device/port has up to date drivers.Which they all appear to. And I have since sent an email to EMPR. Intuit Technologies (where I took it to, to have the USB Port replaced), well the receptionist told me they could do a diagnosis and testing for AU$68.75 and the notebook would have to stay there 4 days in their jobs queue to be looked at. What more could be done?May I as well buy a new notebook computer? (I already paid AU$68.75 to have the right USB Port replaced).As much as I want to save money.I bought my current notebook, new in early 2011. This not the place to discuss replacement of parts on your notebook done by other than HP. That is beyond the intended scope of this Peer to peer support forum. You should be discussing what was done with the compoany that performed the repairs. You cannot increase the data transfer bandwith beyond what the usb controller is capable of. If your notebook has usb 2.0 ports that is what it will always have. Just about any usb device can be connected to a working usb port on the notebook. Some devices, such as usb hubs, that draw higher current should be externally poweredto prevent damage to the ports and traces on the notebook's systemboard.

MacBook Pro Retina USB 2.0 devices not working in right side USB port

4 days ago I bought MacBook Pro Retina 15".
When I plug USB 2.0 device to right side USB port, it does not work. OSX does not recognize it, iPhone does not charge, and so.
When I plug the same USB 2.0 device to left side USB port, it works.
When I plug USB 3.0 device to left or right side USB ports, it works without a problem.
Does anyone have this same issue? How did you resolve it?

I have a similar issue with a 13" Retina. Both my ports work OK for most USB devices but the right one won't work with a USB external HD (Time Machine backup). Very consistant.

Right side USB port does not recognize mouse while in Vista

Ok, heres the deal. I use a corded USB mouse with my MacBook Pro. I am right handed, so I usually plug the mouse into the right side USB port. It works just fine while I am booted into OSX, but while in Vista, the mouse is not recognized at all when it is plugged into the right side. The mouse still works on the left side port just fine.
The weird thing is that I can still use that same right side USB port for my flash drive or iPod or anything else. Just not my mouse. Anybody else have this issue or have any input?

Am I the only one with this problem? I am going to try to uninstall the mouse drivers in vista and then reinstall them and see if that does anything.

Booklet 3G: right side USB slot stopped working. H...

Didn't noticed the moment I started to experience this, but I have a problem. My right side USB slot, that is near to power connector stopped working: it cannot recognize and work with any equipment. Flash drives and other peripherial, which have a light indication does not light up, not even a blinking. Restarting, putting out battery for 10 minutes does not help. Even in BIOS mode any USB device light indication does not work. Other slots are working properly: device light indication works, the devices are detectable in Windows. Help... please. Any ideas how to fix, or at least to test the right side USB port?

Probably the easiest way to test is to insert a BOOTABLE usb stick/pen (not a usb disk drive) into the USB slot, reboot and at the NOKIA screen hit F12, which will take you into the boot options.
You should see your hard drive listed and your USB Device and you can choose which to boot from. If you don't even see your USB device, that is not a good sign and the port is likely to be faulty.
Just make sure that you have a proper working bootable usb stick. You can check that the same works when you follow the same procedure by testing the other usb ports.

Touchsmart TX-2 fingerprint scanner and USB ports not working

Please forgive me if this is in the wrong spot.
Just sent my laptop (Touchsmart TX-2 1015au) off for a warranty fix - told them the USB ports weren't working on Windows 7, 64 bit. It came back wiped, running on Vista 32 bit and.....with the USB ports not working.
I figured I'd try to get it working because I need my laptop for uni and can't send it back right now. So I clean installed Windows 7, 64 bit again and its still not working. Did the standard open device manager and uninstall everything under the usb tab. All that has resulted in is causing the fingerprint scanner to stop working (being told that it is not connected) and still no working USB ports.
All advice really welcome and very much appreciated!

Should be no problem to get W7 32 bit to work on that model.
Just use all of the drivers and software from the HP Probook 450 G0 on your model except the Audio, BIOS and firmware files.
Your model uses the Intel HD graphics driver only.
The first driver you have to install is the Intel chipset installation utility and then reboot.

Satellite P850 - right hand USB ports stopped working

I have a new Satellite P850, after a short period the two right hand usb ports stopped working, I only had a wireless mouse plugged into them at the time. Is there a reset for these ports, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, no change.
Any one have any thoughts.

First of all, I don't think you should have done that.
The solution, either a full system recover (probably not necessary) or reinstall the drivers manually. Since they are USB 3.0 (I guess for what I googled about the P850) they use different drivers (specially if we are talking about the sleep and charge ones) so go ahead and download them from toshiba website, that should solve it...

Modem problems on Right Side USB port

I have mentioned this problem in a couple of other threads here, but I just got some news from Apple, so I thought it might be worthwhile to start a new thread. As you can see below, I have a MacBook Pro/15"/1.83, running 10.4.7, manufactured in week 13. When I went on a trip to the "Mainland" (I live in Hawaii) last month, I discovered that the USB port on the right side of the computer didn't work properly with my Apple USB modem. While I could get a dial-up connection, I couldn't maintain it, and it would hang up within a minute or two. Everything worked normally on the left side USB port. I brought the computer into the Honolulu Apple Store, and they confirmed the problem. They also booted the computer off an external drive, and it worked fine. I wiped the drive, and reloaded everything, and the right USB port still didn't work. I then sent the computer in for repair, twice now. The first time they also wiped the drive and sent it back to me. Second time, they kept it for 2 weeks, but were unable to find a problem. Sure enough, I still have the problem on the right side USB port. However, I also discovered I could do a backup of my user folders (~3 GB) onto an external USB drive from the right port with no problem.
Anyway, I just finished speaking with the Apple Rep, who told me there are other MBPs with the same problem, and they are investigating it. They said I should keep an eye on the Apple Support site for possible software/hardware fixes.
Hope they fix it soon. I do want to say that the people I spoke to have always been helpful.

Even though I just got this USB Modem yesterday (as I have a trip to a place with no wireless or ethernet connection), and I haven't had the chance to test things out enough, I would like to report that I have the EXACT same problem, although I did connect several times from the RIGHT-side port (and even so, it was only for a few minutes, if I connected at all).
The LEFT port has now worked for 24 minutes straight, so, I think that that is the issue. There is a clear difference between the RIGHT port and the LEFT port, and I seriously doubt that it is the service provider.
I will continue to use the LEFT port until I find out more about what is going on. Very strange indeed.

Right side USB port is not functional on my new Spectre13

I just purchased a new Spectre13 notebook and the USB port on the right side isn't functionnal. I searched in different places in the system and I cannot find a way to get it working. Is this normal?

And now the left side USB port doesn't recognise my 16GB USB key anymore. It does recognise a Logitech wireless mouse key but not my key.

hi all,
i bought pavilion dv6-6165tx 2 years back and ibought a new internal hdd as my old one became corrupt , i installed os win 7 pro (licensed ) and drivers from HP online.
now the problem is that my left side usb ports are not working , and also my finger print reader
