Right speaker very quiet...

i have a inspire 2.1 2500, i've had this for a while, and for a while now, the speaker that i plug into the right port of the subwoofer is really silent. i have the music at a "normal" volume, not too loud but loud, and id have to put the speaker i pluged into the right port right next to my ear just to hear the music playing very very quietly. i've checked all the settings on my computer, i've tried using the onboard soundcard on my mobo, i checked everything! and im pretty sure its my subwoofer thats jacked up. i unscrewed the screws behind the subwoofer and tried to take it out, but could only pull it out of the box alittle bit, somethings blocking the thing! =[ but i could see the inside half of the ports and couldnt tell if anything was wrong with them, i dont have any knowledge of speaker parts or anything though...so i could very well be wrong =/
can anyone help me out with this? =/

That is not a speaker on the right side - it is the microphone... There is only one speaker - the one that you are hearing on the left...

  • Front Right Speaker Very Very Quiet!!

    Hello,
I have a Creative Inspire P5800 (5.1) Speaker System & my sound card is Creative Sound Blaster Live 24-Bit. All purchased about Septemeber this year, all has been working fine until today when the front right speaker has gone very very quiet!? All other speakers work fine, Can anyone help?
    Cheers,
    Oidest

I am having the exact same problem and there is no reply to any post on this issue what so ever on the internet.
I have all the other speakers working perfectly. I have tested the speakers on another 5.1 source and they all work fine.
This is such a pathetic problem, which is definitely routed somewhere in the drivers.
I have absolutely no idea where to go.
I used to be able to turn off the Hardware Acceleration to zero and then all 5 speakers would magically work. However now when I do that it is only coming out of speaker (Centre front).
Can't you fix your drivers Creative? I am sending this back to you for creating sub-standard drivers for your hardware.

  • Audigy 2 ZS + Hercules 5.1 (front right speaker very fai

I dont know if this has been bought up before (i didnt notice it in the first 5 pages) but, After installing the card and drivers, i have noticed that my right channel is very very soft (nearly un detectable). I have run through both the channel and noise tests and all the other speakers work fine, its just the right speaker being very very dull. The same thing happens when im using headphones.
I was wondering if there was a setting that can be changed to fix this?

check the speaker settings in speaker setup/advanced and replace the rca plug from the PC to the amp

  • Left speaker loud...right speaker very low or not working?

I noticed this because when I hold the iphone I always cover the left speaker and can barely hear whatever is playing be it a song or phone call. I was wondering if this is something I should go into get repaired or if everyone is experiencing this with the iphone?
I cover the left speaker and barely hear anything at all. I cover the right speaker and the left speaker is fairly loud. I'm thinking my right speaker is just not working...too bad I thought I was in the clear sigh everything else is working fine.

Simply because the right grill is a mic, and the left one a speaker, doesn't make the mic grill soundproof to what's audible from the speaker. If sound leaks out of the right grill then that might simply be audio leaking from the playback of the speaker.
But to say it's not true? It says so clearly in the Apple User's Guide, in the keynote Steve himself made to introduce it, and the support videos all over the Apple website.
Call Apple and look into the issue.

  • Macbook pro 17" right speaker very very quiet

anybody had similar problem? have had to fix by restarting with disk utility twice -and only got the thing yesterday. Anybody know what could be causing it? haven't even installed the graphics software that i use - or any other third party software for that matter yet.
Also the volume isn't audible until the volume 'indicator' is on the fifth block even when it's software 'fixed'. Anyone any ideas?

I'm having the same exact problem, but it's the left speaker that is the quiet one on a MacBook Pro 15". I'm also having the same issue with the volume slider making the machine silent a little less than half way on the speaker display when you use the function keys. These issues seemed to start happening after the SMC firmware update.

  • Speakers - both channels out of right speaker

Hi - I have a Macbook Pro, bought second hand so should have said at the time, but....
All the sound, both channels, comes out of the right speaker.  When i go into the Audio MIDI set up app, and play with the channel testing for the built in output, when i do the white noise test on channel 1, it comes out of channel 2.  Channel 2 then obviously comes out correctly.  When the channel 1 test comes out of the right speaker, it's just not quite as strong and clear sounding as the right channel sound.  Then if i've got music playing and i go to the sound preferences, when i use the balance slider left to right, when left, it's still playing out of the right speaker, just quieter.
When my headphone or external speakers are plugged in, it works just fine.  Left and right are perfect and I can use the balance slider to move the sound left to right and it behaves accordingly.
I was on Mountain Lion and am now on Yosemite and it's made no different.  It had Mountain Lion when i bought it.
    Any ideas?
    thx

  • HT201401 sound out of ear speaker very low turned up all the way sounds muffled

can barley hear out of ear speaker with music or on calls loud speaker works fine ear phones work fine just ear speaker very quiet tried restore from itunes no help do i need to replace the ear speaker or is there something else i could try, tried sucking on speaker and blowing it out no help.

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

  • No sound out of left speaker, and right speaker is extremely quiet

    Hello,
I have an HP Pavilion DV5 Laptop.  I'm having issues with my speakers, and am looking for help. My speaker on the left won't play anything, and the one on the right is annoyingly quiet. When I plug in headphones they work perfectly fine.

    Hi Wumbo-Wizzard,
Welcome to the HP Forums!   I understand that you are having a problem with the sound coming out when you connect the speakers. I will try my best to help you with this issue. To better guide you, could you please give me the model number of your notebook and the operating system that you are running on it. Here is a guide for How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
In this document for Troubleshooting Sound Problems with External Speakers and Headsets in Windows 7 are steps that may resolve this issue.
I hope this information helps, please let me know.
    Thank you,

  • New Right Speaker Distortion Test

    Try this:
    1) Make sure Funk is set in your Sound Preference as your alert sound.
    2) Go back into Safari
    3) Hit Command-F
    4) Type something in that is NOT on the page. Like "asdfghjkl"
    5) Hit NEXT
Some or all of you will note a SERIOUS distortion. Even stranger, if you do it twice in a row, the first alert will be quiet (but distorted) and the second will be loud and distorted. If you keep hitting NEXT, it will keep staying loud. Then, if you pause for a few seconds, and try the double tap again, you get the quiet-loud pattern.
    Can others confirm?

To test whether or not you have the right speaker issue, please download this sound file:
    http://www.newyork-stories.com/mbp/RightSpeakerTest.m4a
This sound was created by an Apple Genius in the SoHo Store. To use it, open the file and in ITunes switch to endless loop. Then in sound settings pan left and right. In the case you have the right speaker issue you will hear a significant difference between left and right. The right speaker will sound hopelessly distorted and overdriven, whereas the left speaker will play the sound as it's supposed to be.
Also, go to apple.com and play one of the Apple commercials. Play the one with the Pie Charts, I believe it's called "Work vs. Home". Again, pan from left to right. If the right speaker is distorted you will hear that the voice of the "Mac" guy is overdriven and the music will sound awful.
Everyone who doesn't hear a difference between left and right doesn't have the problem. Also, if you are able to get rid of the distortion by putting the volume down a little, you also don't have the problem.
The right speaker issue is VERY obvious and a major pain in the ... for everything that includes low frequency voices or music with lots of bass

  • Powerbook G4 Right Speaker Not Working

Hello, i just recently purchased a very gently used Powerbook G4 15 inch, 1.67 Ghz, 2GB Ram, 80GB HDD, OS X 10.4.11. the computer performs phenomenally and overall feels like a brand new computer! however, the right speaker is not working. i understand this is the model with three speakers, left - middle (more proximal to the left speaker) - and right. when i try to slide the volume slider to the left the left most speaker makes sound, when i slide the volume slider to the right, the middle speaker only makes sound. im wondering if the powerbook is mistaking the middle speaker as the right speaker because it only shows two channels - 1 for left and 2 for right - but the "2" is only playing though the middle speaker. i hope theres an easy fix, something thats not hardware related. if it cant be easily fixed then it doesnt hurt me too much because the computer was only 50$

Attach headphones or exteranl speakers. Any sound probelms with those?
I'd start with resetting the NVRAM per this article:
How to Reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support
Be aware that the note at the bottom of the page referring to an SMC reset only applies to Intel Macs, not PowerBooks.
You should also try a PMU reset:
    http://www.ehow.com/how_6787488_reset-pmu-g4-powerbook.html
I looked at some repair guides for 15-inch, 1.67 ghz powerbooks and don't see a reference to more than two speakers, even on the large 17-inch versions.

  • Right speaker no longer works?

Hey everyone. So the right speaker on my Macbook Pro just stopped working properly. When I go into the system preferences > sound > output and try to just have it come out of the right speaker (instead of having it balanced between the 2), it comes out really quiet and with this weird echoing/tinging sound. Any advice? There hasn't been any damage or injury to the computer... Thanks!

Without knowing exactly what is wrong, hard to tell if MBP is worth getting fixed. An Apple Store will diagnosis the problem for free. Ask them how much the repairs will be. Once you find out what the problem is, call an AASP & ask about the cost of repairs. May be cheaper than an Apple Store.

  • Right speaker on Macbook Pro (with Retina) not working..

Bought Macbook Pro with retina display yesterday and just noticed sounds is only coming from the left speaker. I've checked on system preferences and when I turn the left hand speaker down there is no sound. Is this a manufacturing error or something I need to do?!

    Hi,
Not a lot to go by from the lack of detail in your post, however let me try to help.
[note I may not follo up on your response - just a heads up as i'm very busy [ arent we all]]
Anyway, I bought a HP Pavilliion 500 the other day. and was stoked - awesome machine at a great price locally.
So after plugging in my Altec Lansing 6.1 surround sound speakers using the brown/black/green colour coded input plugs on the back of the PC's audio card (built in) - to correspond with the cables on thealtec lansing, I noticed that 2 speakers were working at the same time, and another speaker did work at all.
I spent about an hour or 2 pulling hair until I finally turned everything off, then plugged it in, then turned n the speakers and then the PC - voila - the speakers were working, one thing I had to do though was move them around as the front right speaker was now the middle etc, no biggy - just moved the speakers around...
PS: there was a siding button on the back n my speakers that allow full 6.1 or stereo - which I hd to change to get it to work.
Also on the altec lansing model I have I had to adjust the surround knob on the main speaker control to #10 for surround for the speakers to work individually.
I hope it helps you somewhat?
Check what inputs you are using. Check the inbuilt sound control software, in my case it was DTS Audio Settings, which allowed me to tweak things a bit.
Sometimes yes it is hardward, but when you know your have "known good speakers"as I did, and a brand new PC - which in theory should handle the speakers I am using, then it can be a combination of trial and error to get them working...
I gues you have the latest drivers, and if you dont have any great input options (ie: if you only have headphones socket) and are using stereo - ty some headphones? - as sometimes it can be the cable socket itself which is just built slightly different so the speakers dont all come thourgh like they should...
    Cheers

  • Crackling sound from right speaker - Envy 14 Beats edition

The right speaker on my Envy 14 Beats edition has a crackling/static sound when playing any sort of sound from it.  I assumed it was a faulty speaker since its just the right speaker..  I've talked to HP support and they had me send it in.
After two weeks I got it back only to find that they simply changed some audio configurations in an attempt to fix it.  Nothing has changed and the problem still exists.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if there is some sort of fix for this without me having to send it back to them to replace the speaker.

Hello tedebare73.  I understand your notebook is making a weird sound from the left speaker.
Are there any other electronic devices (guitar amplifiers, cell phones, speakers) around the notebook?  These can all cause very strange noises.
Try hard resetting the notebook as well.  Here are the steps.
    Shut down the notebook.
Remove the battery and AC power.
Press and hold the power button for 10-15 seconds three times.
Replace the battery and AC power.
    Verify whether the problem persists.
Finally, if neither of the above have an effect try removing and reinstalling the driver.  Here are instructions.
    Go to your Device Manager.
Expand the "Sound, video, and game controllers" section.
Right click on your audio device and select "Uninstall."
Reboot the notebook.  Windows will automatically reinstall the driver.
    Verify whether the problem persists.
Let me know the results.  Have a wonderful day!
Please click the white star under my name to give me Kudos as a way to say "Thanks!"
Click the "Accept as Solution" button if I resolve your issue.
