pokerjoker7,
you’ll know just as soon as we would when any new model MacBook Pro might be released. The educational discounts are offered to university students. I can’t answer the case/sleeve question, since I’m unfamiliar with all three of those.

  • Right time to buy?

I am doing Web Development at University and I am thinking about getting the Adobe Web Premium Student package for £202 on amazon but is this the right time to buy. Ie if I left it until a certain date would I get a free CS5 upgrade? Like what laptop users got before Windows 7 came out?

Depends when you need it and what you'll use it for.
    Looking at past release dates:
    CS shipped Sep 03
    CS2 shipped April 05
    CS3 shipped April 07
    CS4 shipped Oct 08
IF Adobe sticks to the established 18-24 month upgrade cycle, CS5 may ship somewhere between April 2010 and Oct 2010.
But only Adobe knows the true shipping date for CS5 and things may change.
Bear in mind though that there may be no compelling features in CS5 that you'll need. Unless you just want the latest and greatest.

  • When is the best time to buy my MacBook Pro

Hi, I'm planning on buying a MacBook Pro. I'm either buying it now or in March. Should I wait until March because their will be a newer model out? Or should I buy it now?

I have found the buyer's guide at MacRumors (http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/) to be very helpful. It provides analysis of when to buy each Apple item. Here are its recommendations for MacBook Pro:
    Product: MacBook Pro
Recommendation: Neutral - Mid product cycle
    Last Release: June 08, 2009
    Days Since Update: 99 (Avg = 200)
My own opinion: Buy now. I just ordered a MacBook Pro 2 days ago based on my own research and conclusions. The June updates were quite impressive, and it could be another 3+ months before another update. I also came across a helpful rule of thumb for Apple products in general: Don't buy right before June or January- that's when they tend to announce new products/versions.

  • Right time to buy an iPhone

    Hi
I was using iphone 3GS and now want to buy an iphone5 and a mac book (Pro 13"). I am confused that should I buy right now or should I wait for some time as there are rumors around that new iphone is going to launch in Sep, 13 and same with the MacBook. I can wait 2-3 weeks if it is worth waiting or I can go ahead and buy my stuff. Please suggest.

No one here knows when the next iPhone will be released. As it's almost a year since the iPhone 5, and Apple has released a new model every 12-18 months, it's probably worth waiting.

  • Right time to buy a new MBP?

I am looking to buy a new MBP, but I was wondering if the time is right? Are they about to release a new model or should I go ahead and buy one now?

Only Apple knows when new models will be introduced and they only will tell on the day of release.  If the current crop of models fulfill your needs, purchase one.  If not, you are welcome to wait but you will not know for how long.
    Ciao.

  • When is the safe time to buy a Macbook Pro with retina display

    Hi,
I saw some issues lately with Macbook Pro with retina display in discussion and it seems the number is increasing. It might be a bad batch. I want to order one and I have to do it online (because of a student discount) and it's going to be hard for returning and swapping.
How long should I wait to have more stable MBPR out there to order one? Or it's not like that and bad batch could happened anytime.
    Thanks

    Thanks for reply guys,
About student discount, I'm currently at Malaysia and there is one store in our University which has student discount and he said he's not going to have retina display in his store anytime soon. So I have to order online which it lets me order from education store easily and btw I want to upgrade the RAM to 16G.
And yes you were right about this place and the numbers of people with problems. I did use 14-day return policy once it was so easy and awesome. Then there is no worry here and I can order mine too.
    Thanks again

  • When is the best time to buy a macbook pro with retina display?

When/how often are the refreshed or updated?

Since that already happened this year you will need to wait until some time next year at the earliest, although there have been rumors of near end of this year.

  • The Time To Buy iPad, Or Not?

    Hey everyone,
I have been thinking about buying the iPad ever since it came out and to this date have not been able to. I have the money, but is now the time to spend it on that 9.7" beauty? I would like to use it for web surfing, email, apps(of course), and I would also like to pick up on the reading for the rest of high school. This is the time for me, I need to decide in the very, very near future. I need two burning questions answered though, is it the right time to buy? Also, Which one to get? As far as which one to get, I plan to use this mostly around home and of course whenever I travel. I think that as far as videos go, I would be putting a few on when I take some trips then take them off if I find myself not viewing them often. I would always have my computer relatively close though, so I would be able to get content on and off quick.
Merging into the next question, I would only get the 32GB if I would have it for a while. If the next one would have killer features then maybe I should wait off for the next generation. The feature that I think is guaranteed is a front facing video camera, I don't think that I have a huge need with that. I have my MacBook Pro for most of the stuff like that. I don't know how much I would desperately need the speed bump that could also surface next spring, because, like I said I have a laptop that I do a good amount on. Or do I not need one at this time? I am a big fanboy so this product is in my mind a great buy.
I need some help here, just tell me what you think. Anyone who has been in the same situation or is in it themselves, feel free to chime in.
    Thanks for any help.
SIDE NOTE!!!!!: If anyone has some thoughts about refurb iPads coming up, tell me as well. I don't think they are coming since it has been a while.

I just got my 32gb 3G iPad about a week ago for my bday and I'm absolutely loving it. I was planning on buying one myself but was saving up for it. Anyway since it had been a few months since it came out I thought to myself that if I waited this long couldn't I just wait till the 2nd gen but I decided that I still wanted it. Also I figured if the 2nd gen came out and if it had some feature that I just couldn't live without that I could probably sell my 1st gen iPad for a good amount. I've owned every version of the iPhone (except the 3Gs) and I've always been able to resell them for a good price.
The reason I wanted the 3G was in case I wanted to use my iPad somewhere wifi wasn't available. But so far I haven't had to activate the 3G service.
The other thing I love about my iPad is that it really is useful. I've only used my laptop to add movies to my iPad Undoubtedly when school begins I'll need to laptop for writing papers and such. But otherwise my iPad is perfect for carrying around and using everywhere. Until the iPad I was considering buying a new MacBook Pro 13" because my 15" (almost 3yrs old) was just to heavy and cumbersome and I didn't like carting it around, even in the house (4 floors).
Anyways the point of this rambling is if you want an iPad go ahead and get it now.

  • When would it be wise to buy a macbook pro retina

i would like to know when would be a good time to buy a macbook pro
I have one already and was wondering when the newer models will be in stores and perhaps some idea of what chip set along w/ other specs they might be using.
I like the all flash mem concept and other aspects yet would also like to see the hardware tested by users. if some owns a retina perhaps you could share with me yr. thoughts of it along w/ any rumors and flaws. Are these new macbook pros worth the price and when will newer models be avaliable??

IMHO Never. To limited even if they fix the current problems with the current units or in a newer version.
    It is a glorified iPad.

  • Is this the right time ???

actually i want to go for ipod classic 80gb....and found many bugs related to the classic....so i jus want to ask is it the right time to buy it or shuld i wait for sum time to let apple solve all issues with classic.I mean if the issues are only software related then they can be solved easily by updates but if the issues are hardware related then i think i should prefer to wait for some time..
also one more thing is apple warranty international???..can i claim it in any country where apple has its subsidies??

A lot of the problems seem to me like they could be fixed by firmware updates, but I guess really only apple can answer that.. Like it could be that firmware updates can squeeze more performance out of the hardware and speed up the interface, but then maybe not.. And some of the other issues are not bugs as such but just things set up differently (like the clock screensaver) I would maybe try and have a go on one if you can and see what you reckon..

  • Opinion - MacBook Pro  -is now the time to buy?

I am looking to replace a 2006 MacBook Core Duo 2 Ghz wi 2 GB RAM and a 500 GB drive with either a 15 or 17 MB Pro with Matte screen (4 GB and 500 GB drive). They have the high end 15 and 17 in stock with matte screens at my local Apple Store.
Is now the time to buy?
Three things give me pause so I am looking for some advice.
    1. Hard drive related beach balls - especially on 7200 rpm drives.
    2. Is the 15 or 17 any more or less prone to these troubles? Is the 5400 rpm 500 GB drive a surer bet?
    3. Potential speed bumps to coincide with new cheaper MacBook releases.
Those who have bought recently - is the hard drive beach ball, 30 - 40 second hang issue resolved?
Just generally, would you wait to see if there are any changes to the MacBook Pro specs (a la speed bump) with the impending Mini, iMac, MacBook announcements?

For the 15" the time to buy, for me, was before they jettisoned the express card slot My ideal would be a 13" with an express card and the dual graphics chips - oh well I'm not holding my breath for that one. I'm glad I got my 15" while they were still offering express card although I might have been willing to trade that for the smaller footprint of the 13" if it would have been available at the time. I love my 15", but it is big (esp. coming from a 12" PB G4).
As for beach ball speed issues - I think all the shipping MacBook Pro's (at least the 15" and 17") can take 8 gigs of RAM - I would get the base memory from Apple and then upgrade after the fact. I bumped my late 2008 MBP (typing on it now) to it's max of six Gigs RAM and it made a noticeable difference.
And as far as performance, even 7200 rpm notebook drives are slugs compared to their desktop cousins; and compared to the speed increases in every other component in personal computers, mechanical hard drives are glacially slow slugs.
If you really want maximum performance, you need to do what I am getting ready to. Skip the 7200 RPM drive and replace your primary drive with a solid state drive (but do your research - not all SSD's are created equal and some may be slower then a traditional hard drive!). Since I'm not about to pay more for an SSD then the purchase price of my computer, I'm going to get a smaller one (corsair makes a 160GB that looks nice), and remove my optical drive (hardly every use it anyway). In the optical drives place I will put a 500GB drive with one of several kits out there that provide a mounting bracket for the second drive. Best of all worlds - OS and applications on the ultra fast SSD, bulk of my data on the more spacious traditional drive.
CPU and Video are pretty darn fast across the board, even with the base configurations. These days the hard drive is THE speed bottle neck in computers...

  • I have an iMac with Microsoft Office and an HD - Time Machine. I'm buying a MacBook Pro and I want to know that if I use the Time Machine to transfer all my stuff the Microsof Office will work or if I need to reinstall it with another licence ?

I have an iMac with Microsoft Office (and several other licenced softs) and an HD - Time Machine that backup all the stuff. I'm buying a MacBook Pro and I would to know that if I use the Time Machine to transfer all my stuff, the Microsof Office will work normally or if I need to reinstall it with another licence?

You do not need a new license. The license file will be found in /Library/Preferences/ and is named, com.microsoft.office.licensing.plist. Be sure it gets transferred and you will be fine. I see no reason why the file would not be in your Time Machine backup nor any reason why it would be restored.
Please visit Pondini's Time Machine FAQ for help with all things Time Machine. You may need help figuring out how to restore your current backup to a new machine.

  • Buying a Macbook pro for the first time and i need your opinion

Hello everyone! I'm buying a Macbook pro for the first time and i need your opinion. I'm a Web Developer / Graphic Designer, and i need this macbook for my work. Currently i have these 2 options:
    1) Macbook Pro with Retina (13")
    128GB SSD, 2.5GHz Intel i5 Processor, 8GB Ram
    2) Macbook Pro i7 (15")
    Intel  i7 2.6 Processor, 8GB Ram, 750GB HD
So my dilema is. Do i go for the newest 13" Macbook Pro Retina & SSD drive or do i go for the 15" Macbook Pro i7 non-Retina, non-SSD hard drive?

    Your 2nd choice
    2) Macbook Pro i7 (15")
    Intel  i7 2.6 Processor, 8GB Ram, 750GB HD
is user upgradable. The Retina is not.
No matter what for your needs I would max out the 16GB of RAM

  • Is buying a MacBook Pro the right choice?

I am wanting to buy and new laptop computer to replace my old mac. I am tempted by the MacBook Pro, but am a bit put off by the price.
Then I see the Macbook which is less expensive, and wonder whether buying the Macbook Pro is over the top.
Could someone please tell me whether they think it is worth the extra money buying the Macbook Pro, or am I better off just going with the Macbook. I am a graphic design student and have a lot of high res. photos and images on my HD, and need a fast processor to use various programs.
    Thanks

    Hi there,
What this essentially comes down to is how much speed do you need now, and how long do you want the machine to be usable?
The current MB is a much more capable Macbook than the previous generations. It has the same processor as the entry MBP, and a graphics chipset that is far faster than the previous Macbook. Your current needs would probably be met by the Macbook.
However, read what Apple's Snow Leopard website says under OpenCL.
    http://www.apple.com/macosx/snowleopard/
It is certain that in the future the graphics chipsets in these machines will be utilized more than they are today. Nobody knows to what extent that will be, or when it will occur, but it is worth considering.
Certainly, the MBP will be usable for your purposes for a longer period of time than the Macbook. If this matters to you, perhaps the MBP is more suited to your needs. In the end I doubt you would be overly disappointed with either machine, but your usage seem to lean you more towards the MBP.
