Right Way To Boost Volume Of Your Music Before Synching

I'd like some guidance about boosting the volume of music on my ipod.
Do I import the CD, and THEN boost the volume prior to synching.
Or... Do I boost the volume of the songs FROM the CD before importing the CD? This is what I do now.
Thanks a bunch, Craig

You do know that if you increase the volume of a song in iTunes, all you do is make it so that the maximum volume on the iPod is reached before the volume bar is at full? You're not going to make the iPod any louder by doing this. Indeed, what you may do by doing this is introduce distortion.
For example, if you increase a track's volume in iTunes by +100% then when it's on the iPod you will find that that track hits it's maximum volume level at about half volume, and turning the iPod up to full volume will not increase the volume any higher after this point. A track which has not had it's volume altered in iTunes will reach exactly the same sound level, although of course you will need to turn the volume level of the iPod to full in this instance.
Try it for yourself.

  • How can you fix the volume on your iphone

I just recieved my new Iphone 4S and I have the volume on the side of the phone turned up, but I can hardly hear anyone I am talking to

First, YOU STOP SHOUTING.  It's considered rude, and many people will not respond to screamers.
By wipe, do you mean erase all songs in the iPod app on your phone?  If so, you sych the phone to your computer and uncheck the sych music tab.  Your music will synch off your phone.
Since this is a very basic function of the phone, I suggest you read the User Guide.  The link to the UG is below.

  • Is their a "right way" to encode what I am importing?

    g4 p-book 15   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

The right way will be whatever suits your needs. AAC format gives good quality small files if space on your hard drive is a priority and it is Apple's preferred encoder. MP3 is useful because it also provides small files but is more compatible than AAC if you have a) a portable player other than an iPod or b) an in-car player that will play CDs and MP3s. If you have lots of space you can import in the Aiff format your CDs are already in or for lossless encoded files that are around half the size of Aiff you can use Apple Lossless. In both cases these will give you better quality than AAC or MP3.
This two part article will give you some good comparison information:

  • Backing up music before sending in for rep

Hello,?I am the mom of a zen micro owning teenager. Thank you for any info you can share. My daughter has sent her player in once already for a "hanging" problem. She is getting ready to call again because the headphone jack is bad and getting worse by the day. It has to be in at just the right angle/direction to play. Her question is what is the proper way to back up your music before you send it in? The last time, she reinstalled everything. Most of her music comes from CD's with some bought from the internet. Is there anyway to save the info as a whole so that she does not have to redo each CD?Thank you in advance. Randy

connect player to pc. load up creative media source - launch audiosync (one of the icons on the top row) choose for data to be transfered?from player to hard dri've with arrow pointing to the pc.
then hit next. this will download all songs to your pc?music bought from napster or any other pay site may have to be burned to a cd then ripped back to player to get round protected content?Message Edited by debbageme on 03-20-2006:2 AM

  • Is there a way to boost the volume on an IPhone 3G

Is there a way to boost the volume on my IPhone 3GS?

I'm guessing you mean a way, other than pressing the volume UP button on the headphones cable...   Also, are you saying that the maximum volume (using the volume button) is not loud enough?  If so...
I don't have the 3G iPod shuffle, but there is probably a Limit Maximum Volume setting, and it may currently be set lower than you want.  With the iPod shuffle selected in the iTunes sidebar (under DEVICES), go to the Settings or Summary tab (over to the right).  See if there is control there for limiting the maximum volume on the shuffle.  If so, disable it or set it to the desired max loudness.  Apply the change.

  • Is there a way to auto sync playlists while manually managing your music?

I used to use WMP11 before I bought an iPod and used iTunes, and in that I was able to auto sync playlists to my Samsung dap, as well as being able to manually drag tracks/albums to it.
Since using iTunes, I have found it is not as accessible in this regard. Of course, you can opt to manually manage your music, but if you do this, it does not auto sync any info. This means that if I drag a playlist to my iPod and alter it at a later stage by adding more tracks, it won't alter it on the iPod unless I manually replace it with the amended one. It also means that any ratings that I set on my iPod do NOT get transfered to the tracks in iTunes when connected.
What I have done is set a playlist called 'iPod Tracks' in iTunes, and have dragged any extra albums to my iPod using that, as well as the smart playlist 'Top Tracks'. But the disadvantage of this is, if I drag a few songs from an album into my 'iPod Tracks' playlist, then later decide I want the whole album and drag that over, I end up with two of the same tracks in the playlist, which makes it look very untidy (although I am aware only one of each track will be on the iPod) so it is not ideal.
Surely there must be a way to auto sync playlists so that when you amend them in iTunes it does so on the iPod too, as well as manually drag over any extra tracks/albums you want without having a messy playlist work-around like I have done.
    Any help/ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

There is no way to sync content back to itunes. As you are aware there are a couple of unsupported ways to recover your content, you will need to decide if your content is valuable enough to go down this route.
If so and you are not comfortable with the procedures, I suggest taking the unit to a data recovery specialist with mac experience.

I would like to know, on the ringtone page, where you can select songs out of your music library, is there a way to remove a song from the list after its selected? I would thin there would be a way to "delete" the songs from the list. (Clock app)
    Let me explain:
In the clock app for ios 6.0.2 I am a little confused. It allows you to go into your music library, and create a ringtone using any songs you choose. However, I cannot find a way to remove a song from this list, just like I cannot delete one of the preset ringtones (which I'm not trying to do, but just as an example)
Thanks for your time! If you need more information just ask.
(I believe both my iPod and iTunes are up to date)

I believe you just are able to delete them from iTunes.
    Hope it will be helpful

  • [iOS][Your Music] Give us a way to browse our "premium zone" offline music

I used to be able to easily find my offline albums on the go by searching for the little green symbol next to an album or playlist name. Now that symbol has been removed, and there is apparently no way to navigate the new offline music section beyond "Listen Now" and "suggested for you." What is the point of the offline music tab if it has actually taken away the ability to browse your offline music, and what is unique about this apparently functionless "premium zone?" Cheers for reading. This is on Iphone5s, on version 8.4

Updated: 2015-07-14Hello and thanks for the feedback!
A similar idea has also been suggested here:
    https://community.spotify.com/t5/Live-Ideas/Your-Music-Offline-tab-to-show-only-synced-content-Mobile-Apps/idi-p/735017
Add your kudos and comments there please! ;)
You should still be able to browse your offline music when entering the 'Library' tab and filter the sections for offline content.

  • In the new iTunes 11 where is the genius sidebar that used to be on the right hand side of your music playlist?

In the old version of iTunes you had a genius sidebar on the right hand side of your music library that showed similar artists and songs to the song that was currently being played or highlighted in your personal library. Where is that function in the new iTunes 11?

I looked under file but I couldn't find the "Genius & Playlist" option. I also looked under the other options on the top left side but I couldn't find it there either. And all "Genius suggestions" does for me is show similar songs already purchased in my library. It doesn't show me anything new that I haven't purchased.

  • Is there an easy way to get rid of duplicates in your music library?

Is there an easy way to get rid of duplicates in your music library?

Apple's official advice is here... HT2905 - How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created.  If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin. Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership.See this thread for background and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed)

  • Being Nice to your Layout manager - Is this the right way?

Ive written a custom component that basically provides multi-line text wrapping and a few other nice things.
I had a bit of trouble when I came to implementing
getPreferredSize()  getMinimumSize() This is because ideally, I'd like the component to use as much space horizontally as possible, whilst using only as much vertical space as necessary.
To do this, I used the parents width as the minimum horizontal size. This then allowed me to work out the height.
Question is - is that the right way to do it? Other than that, I just cant think of a way to get the width I need when the component is first added to its container.
    Cheers for any input,
    Dave

If you want it to use as much horizontal space as possible, that means you want its width to be equal to its container's width (perhaps minus a bit for borders or something). So in that case you would have to set its minimum width to that number, and that's exactly what you did. There could be other ways to do it, but yours seems perfectly fine to me.

  • Is Automator the right software to back up your music library?

I'm not very familiar with Automator, but I'm trying to make it do something and I fail miserably.
All I want is when I add a song to my iTune, I would like Automator to immediately create a back up of the song.
Is this the right software to do that?
    If not, suggestions?

Not to blow my own horn but check out the article at http://www.atpm.com/12.07/automator.shtml I developed a workflow that copies your music folder. I didn't discuss it much in the article but there is also a link to an Automator action that could be added to the workflow so that it speeds things up by only copying files modified sine the last backup.
I saved my workflow as an application that is double-clickable. In the article I also talk about using Automator and iCal to achieve timed backups. For what you want to do it's probably best to save as an application and attach it to the music folder as a folder action. I didn't discuss that in the article but you can find easy to follow directions at http://www.macworld.com/article/54651/2007/01/febgeekfactor.html Read the section entitled Put Your Folders To Work
