Rights of the Client installed App

Hi,
i try to investigate which rights does an app has on the client side installed.
e.g. i install as the local admin ms word on the client machine. then i login as a network client on the client machine and run ms word. now, the question which rights has ms word. the local admin rights and the network user rights??
rgds
Bob

Generally, the application has the rights of the user who launched it.
Therefore, if admin user Joe installs an app, then regular user Bob runs it, the app runs under Bob's privileges.
There are exceptions to this, of course - an app installed by an admin user could run under a specific user account (e.g. this is how the services such as the web server and mail server work).

  • How do I install OS 10.7 NOT 10.7.5 on a mac running Snow Leopard 6.8  i.e. where can I find the original install app for Lion OS 10.7.0?

I'm running 10.6.8 Snow Leopard fine on my MacPro1,1, Dual-Core Intel Xeon, 2.66 GHz  Mac, but I need to install Lion 10.7.0 to run a program I need. How do I install OS 10.7 NOT 10.7.5, because I get this message when I try to install 10.7.5, which I've downloaded:"This update requires Mac OS X version 10.7." on a mac running Snow Leopard 10.6.8, So i need to install the original 10.7.0 over the 10.6.8  i.e. where can I find the original install app for Lion OS 10.7.0? The original Lion 10.7. is not avaialable for purchase from the App store or anywhere,  even C-Net . Where can I find it to purchase?
Also it seems I cannot install Mountain Lion over 10.6.8 as advertised. When I go to purchase I get this message: "We could not complete your purchase. OS X Mountain Lion is not compatible with this computer."   I think my computer can handle it (specs above) Are there any workarounds to this?

If you're getting a "This update requires Mac OS X version 10.7" message, than you have the updater and not the full installer. Go to your Purchases section of the Mac App Store and you should see the full version there. But it may be 10.7.5, though in my system is shows as being from 2011 which would appear to be the original version.
As to Mountain Lion, that's supported only on the Early 2008 Mac Pro or newer.

  • I just installed the new CC apps. Since they get installed parallel to the old ones instead of upgrading, do I un-install the old ones with the un-install app in the old folder?

I just installed the new CC apps. Since they get installed parallel to the old ones instead of upgrading, do I un-install the old ones with the un-install app in the old folder?

    Easyebe,
Are you using a Mac machine or Windows PC?
If using a Mac machine, go to Application-->Utilities-->Adobe Installer-->old apps names and run the uninstaller for old apps.
If you are using Windows PC, go to Control panel-->>Program and Features and uninstall the old apps.
It will uninstall everything related to old apps, but your setting must be imporated to new version of apps.

    Thanks guys
    Pat,

I just performed a reinstall of my OS and data on my MBP and this is the procedure I used.
I cloned the MBP using Carbon Copy Cloner to an external HDD.  The clone has all of the data on that external HDD, including all applications and the OS.  In addition it can boot the MBP.
I then used a previously made OS thumb drive and opened Disk Utility>Erase and formatted the internal HDD to Mac OS Extended (Journaled).  You can achieve the same result by accessing the Recovery Partition and use Disk Utility from the four part menu.
I then reinstalled the OS.  You would do the same from the four part menu in the recovery partition.
I then connected the clone to the MBP and transferred my data, including all applications that were not included in the OS reinstallation.  In your case, this would be the iLfe applications as well.
Backups are important if you value your data.
    Ciao.

  • TS2812 If you use up the screens on your Ipod Touch, where do you go to find the last installed apps?

If you use up the screens for your apps, where do you find the latest apps you installed for Ipod Touch, 4th Generation.

Connect and select iPhone iPod touch in computer iTunes, in Apps panel, you will be able to see more than 11 pages of apps.
Also in there, you can create folders so that all your apps will fit in those 11 pages.

  • Windows 10 Start Menu not updating with the newly installed apps or programs

I'm running Windows 10 Enterprise Preview inside a Windows 8.1 Hyper-V instance.  I've been installing a lot of different applications for testing & I've come across a strange problem.  When I install a new application, it doesn't show up
in the start menu.  If I search for the app, it comes up & I can launch it, pin it etc.  Next time I log out & log back in the application is there.  I first noticed this when I used Programs & Features to add OneNote into Office
    2013.

Aha, that may well be what I experienced too. The first thing I
installed on Win10 was one of my own products, and while it installed
and worked fine, and the start menu items could be found by searching,
my product directory was not showing up under All Apps.
A day later I installed another product, and after that I noticed that
I could see both this new program's directory and my own. A subsequent
product installation also showed its program directory straight away.

    I have the same issue
    did anybody fixed it ?

A lot more information about your hardware and software is needed.
    BOILERPLATE TEXT:
If you give complete and detailed information about your setup and the issue at hand,
such as your platform (Mac or Win),
exact versions of your OS, of Photoshop (not just "CC", but something like CC2014.v.2.2) and of Bridge,
your settings in Photoshop > Preference > Performance
the type of file you were working on,
machine specs, such as total installed RAM, scratch file HDs, total available HD space, video card specs, including total VRAM installed,
what troubleshooting steps you have taken so far,
    what error message(s) you receive,
if having issues opening raw files also the exact camera make and model that generated them,
if you're having printing issues, indicate the exact make and model of your printer, paper size, image dimensions in pixels (so many pixels wide by so many pixels high). if going through a RIP, specify that too.
a screen shot of your settings or of the image could be very helpful too,
    etc.,
someone may be able to help you (not necessarily this poster, who is not a Windows user).

  • Client Install Issue - SCCM 2012 R2 - Manual Deploy Installed ok

Hello, I have sccm 2012 configured with 2,000 machine approx. It is been used mainly as a Software Deployment tool for now. On checking a recent IE10 upgrade, I noticed that there is a number of machines that do not have the client installed (and thus did
not upgrade IE). I picked 1 machine, searched in SCCM - had no client. I checked all relevant settings:
Boundary for Client in question - ok
Local Client Settings (ip,dns,no firewall, ping sccm ok and vice versa etc).
Once i right clicked to deploy the client, it installed no problem. I checked the ccmsetup log file and the only info it had was from the time that the client was manually deployed (I will attach the log below anyway). I am really puzzled as to why the client
did not install and if this is the issue why IE is not upgrading (it is hard to pinpoint as there are 250 sites approx). The automatic install task works no problem on other machines once the machine goes online.
Any help, would be great. Here is the log (I am fairly new to SCCM btw):

  • SCCM 2012 Client Install Failing ONLY on 8.1 Machines - Advice?

    Good morning,
I've got a rather interesting situation.  We have a SCCM 2012 site configured for https, the site server is acting as the MP and DP, and we are installing the client via the SCCM 2012 Client GPO.  Our cert is an InCommon cert.  We have 4000+
Windows 7 machines that are able to install the client.  We tested on a Window 8 machine and the client install works as well.  Whenever a Windows 8.1 machine tries to install it fails.  We have checked the boundaries (we can't specify IP ranges
since we don't manage the whole network).  I can manually browse to the source files on the MP/DP.  The switches we use when installing via the GPO are /usepkicert /mp:[redacted] CCMHTTPSSTATE=63 SMSSITECODE=[redacted] SMSCACHESIZE=12288.  However,
    it always fails with:

Anyone have any idea why this is happening only on 8.1 machines?  I can't think of where else to check.  Thanks for any help.

Okay, so I installed via the following:  ccmsetup.exe /usepkicert /source:C:\Client CCMHTTPSSTATE=63 SMSSITECODE=AHC SMSCACHESIZE=12288 and the client installed.  But you're right, the CCMMessaging.log is full of https errors.  I know it's
something with the cert and I've even requested new ones from the CA.  However, why what is it about 8.1 that is causing the issues?  Like I said, we have 4000 machines using the same client authentication cert and they work.  I've cut and paste
some of the log entries.  One thing to note is the \\[redacted]\sms_ahc\client\ccmsetup.exe in the beginning was using the internet FQDN.  Everything else is using the intranet location.  Does that provide any insight as to what is going
    on?

  • Renaming deployed systems while retaining the Client object in SCCM

After deploying a system, we re-name it from the default MININT-xxxxxxxx name, depending on which office the system will be going to.  Usually, this creates no issue in the SCCM 2012 R2 console, but sometimes we see systems which show as having "No"
Client, but with the Last Status as "Complete".  We can wait for the AD, Network, and Heartbeat Discovery to re-discover the system, but sometimes even after a week, there's no change.  The systems are on the network (sleep, hibernate,
& hybrid sleep are all disabled).  Manually right-clicking the client in the Devices view & selecting "Install Client" doesn't help.  Perhaps choose the option to "Uninstall existing Configuration Manager client before the
client is installed" ?  We also see some "Unknown" computer objects which we delete.  Are these related to the re-naming the computers ?
    Thanks

The object you are seeing is probably a stale one that doesn't match up to the actual one in the DB. You can always confirm this by matching client's GUID with the one in the console for the resource.
Also, whenever you rename a system, always run a data discovery cycle on the client. This will update the corresponding resource in ConfigMgr (or create a new one). WHat is your heartbeat interval set at? I always recommend no less than once every day.
How about naming the systems correctly in the first place though? All this takes is populating the OSDComputerName variable which can be done in many different ways.

  • App Store Mavericks issue - App Store Button Toggles between "Install App" button and "Free Update"

When I go to the app store and click on the "Free Upgrade" Button it switches immediately to the green "Install App" button.  Nothing is downloading in the background.  When "Install App" is clicked on it immediately goes back to "Free Download".
Currently running 10.7.5, 2009 Macbook Air, app store account is Canadian.  Currently located in Grenada.  Friends with other accounts (USA, Canada) have been able to upgrade without issue.

This has been happening for a few weeks now with no solution in sight. It seems to be an issue with the App Store, not the phone. You'll just have to deal with it for now. Use the search function on the right or just look through recent thread titles to see several other discussion on this issue.

  • Creative Cloud app (installer) does not show all installed apps - do I get updates?

    Hi,
with the installer, I've installed CC-versions of several apps (InDesign, Lightroom, PS, Premiere etc). They all work as expected, and start registered to me etc.
When I now open the Creative Cloud app, I see only "Photoshop CC" listed under "Your apps".
On the "Home" tab, I only see one activity; namely the update of "Creative Cloud" 12 minutes ago.
    1) Do I get upgrades for the other installed apps regardless? (nothing over the last few weeks, at least - been like this for some time)
    2) How can I get the installer in sync with installed versions, without reinstalling the individual apps? (takes time, have done it once already, sigh!)
    Addl. info;
On my first install, I accidentaly got localized (Norwegian) versions of the apps (due to installer defaulting to OS language/locale, I guess). Locale also affects keyboard shortcuts, and that confused me so much (muscle memory since Photoshop 3), so I had to *reinstall*. (Searched forums, no way to change locale except first change in Creative Cloud installer, then reinstall all apps).
Anyways; I did this, got English versions (with English shortcuts, phew!), and I had the reinstalled apps in the Creative Cloud app for quite some time. At some update, they got lost.
    Best regards,
    Henrik

    Hey Pete,
I'm not sure why Acrobat XI is not recognized. It is on my system. Maybe try uninstalling and reinstalling it.
You can uninstall through the OS
Control Panel > Programs & Features
and then reinstall it through the Creative Cloud app or https://creative.adobe.com/products

  • Ccmsetup.exe Client install Pushes to end users PC's but fails to run installer

We recently aquired a new company and have several PC's there on-site that we have been working with to get onboard our SCCM system. A push requested to install the client was initiated and after a while a windows\ccmsetup folder was created along with all
the install files. However the client is not installed. We have around 500 computers working in our SCCM environment across 10 different sites across the US. This is the first time we have had issues with the client install push.
I have also tried to install the client manually and it yields no results. in the command prompt it after running that command it just goes to the next line and the configuration manager never shows up.
The command I am running for a manual install
    c:\Users\XXXXXX\Desktop\Client> CCMSetup.exe /MP:Server.domain.local SMSITECODE=123 FSP=Server.domain.local
The event viewer has very little or nothing to say about this either which is weird. So far i have tested the push method and the manually install on three different PC's at that site and all experience the same thing.
I have included the log from the client PC. I don't know how to read it that well but all seems fine until the last few lines and then i start getting errors and error codes
    which i habe made bold.
Any help would be super awesome.

HAHA, yes typo here but not in the command i am running.
I stated above that when i was running the command it did not appear to be doing anything, I retract that now. This morning i went into the ccmlog file and deleted all the txt in it and ran the command again. I went back into the log to find all sorts of
stuff. However it does not appear to be installing still just errors towards the end.
