Rights required after exchange installation

Hi, we are cleaning up our privileged group(s) access and i was wondering what group access the exchange install account requires after exchange is running. currently our exchange install account is still a member of Account Operators, Domain Admins,
Administrators as well as all the required Microsoft Exchange Security Groups.
thanks
Jason

Hi Jason,
In order to prepare schema, AD and install Exchange server, the account need to have the Schema Admins, Domain Admins, and Enterprise Admins permissions at least. What's more, the account should be a member of Organization Management AD role group.
After installation, administrator should have the Organization Management permission and Server Management permission at least.
For more information, here is the detailed information about my Exchange Security Groups for your reference.
Besides, I don't understand why you want to remove some privileged groups.
Hope my clarification is helpful.
If you need further assistance, please feel free to let me know.
Best regards,
Amy

  • Is ldconfig (or anything similar) required after the installation of shared library?

After a shared library (.dylib) is compiled and is put into an appropriate directory, is "ldconfig" or a similar command required to finalize the installation?
On Linux, each time a shared library (.so) is installed or uninstalled, /etc/ld.so.cache must be updated by running the "ldconfig" command.  Does Mac OS X require "ldconfig" or a similar command after the installation or uninstallation of  a shared library (.dylib)?
Note that a shared library may also be called a shared object (so), a dynamically linked library, or a dynamic-link library (dll).
    Thanks.

The following excerpt explains why Linux uses "ldconfig" after the installation or uninstallation of a shared library.
    http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Program-Library-HOWTO/shared-libraries.html
    | On Linux systems, this loader ... finds
    | and loads all other shared libraries
    | used by the program.
    |
    | The list of directories to be searched
    | is stored in the file /etc/ld.so.conf.
    |
    | Searching all of these directories at
    | program start-up would be grossly
    | inefficient, so a caching arrangement is
    | actually used. The program ldconfig(8)
    | by default reads in the file
    | /etc/ld.so.conf, sets up the appropriate
    | symbolic links in the dynamic link
    | directories (so they'll follow the
    | standard conventions), and then writes a
    | cache to /etc/ld.so.cache that's then
    | used by other programs. This greatly
    | speeds up access to libraries. The
    | implication is that ldconfig must be run
    | whenever a DLL is added, when a DLL is
    | removed, or when the set of DLL
    | directories changes; running ldconfig is
    | often one of the steps performed by
    | package managers when installing a
    | library. On start-up, then, the dynamic
    | loader actually uses the file
    | /etc/ld.so.cache and then loads the
    | libraries it needs.
How does Mac OS X deal with this issue?
Linux uses the cache file "/etc/ld.so.cache" to avoid the redundant search of directories.  Linux uses "ldconfig" to update the cache.
How does Mac OS X avoid the inefficient redundant search of directories?

  • Are enterprise admin and schema admin rights required after installation?

    Hi,
Exchange 2010 has been installed in our organisation a few years ago, and is running fine. Exchange was installed with an account with enterprise and schema admin rights. I have just found out that this account still has those rights, I think that this isn't
necessary, and is in fact een security risk. I think that membership of Exchange Organization Administrators and Organization Management plus domain admin rights is enough. Am I right or does this account really need enterprise and schema admin rights?

Yes you are correct. You will need schema admin rights when installing service packs though.

  • Existing exchange installation re-join to domain

    Hello Everyone,
I'm just trying learn by doing, amateur with active directory and a complete newbie to exchange.
    Here's the scenario and issue:
Had setup a domain with a single DC
Had installed a separate server with exchange, configured and working internally.
    Had to then re-install and setup the domain, so removed Exchanged server from domain;
    Re-installed and configured domain
Rejoined Exchange server in to the domain.
Problem now is I can only log on to the exchange server in safe mode. I had thought that joining the server with exchange on it would do all the active directory entries it would have done at installation (falsely re-inforced by the fact that server sat
at "Applying computer settings..." for hours on end). Checked event logs while logged in on safe mode, and event log's is riddled with exchange errors.
So, could I save this server from losing the exchange data and make it functional again in this domain thus forth?
    Thanks in advance.
    EDIT 01:
Clarification; I have rebuilt the DC with exact same IP and DNS  configuration as previously. Obviously, if those things did change, there could be configuration issues that the exchange server already has, therefore I took specific care with these
information. Please also note that I cannot install or uninstall anything if I cannot log on in normal mode. At the moment I can only log on in safe mode. Currently it hangs at "Personalized Settings (Not Responding)...".
Honestly, from what I have seen in the even logs (may be I should post them here?) I have a hunch that not all (if at all) AD object were created when the I re-joined the machine to the domain. I wonder if there's a way:
    1) I can get past the point where it hangs; then
    2) Recreate the AD object that Exchange would have during installation (Powershell?) without actually uninstalling and re-installing exchange (and losing exchange data in the process - I know BACKUPS!!!) thus restoring the usual relation an exchange server
would have with an AD / DC server?

    Hi!
    Try the following:
    uninstall exchange completely
Install the Windows Server 2008 R2 operating system prerequisites
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb691354(EXCHG.140).aspx#WS08R2
On servers that will host the Hub Transport or Mailbox server role, install the Microsoft Filter Pack
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=60C92A37-719C-4077-B5C6-CAC34F4227CC&displaylang=en
    Start the Exchange setup again:
Step 1 & 2 are already completed because you have installed the required features using the previous step.
Click on Step 3 and Choose Install languages only from the DVD
Now click on Step 4: Install Microsoft Exchange
On the Introduction page, click Next
Accept the License Terms and click Next
On the error reporting page select if you want to enable the error reporting feature or not, then click Next
If you enabled it, Microsoft Exchange will automatically send error reports to Microsoft. This helps Microsoft improving their products.
On the Installation Type page, Select Typical Exchange Server Installation. A typical installation consist of the Client Access, Hub Transport, and Mailbox server roles, along with the Exchange Management
    Console
If you want to customize your selection, then click on Custom Exchange Server Installation
Here you don't need to select the option Automatically install Windows Server roles and features required for Exchange Server, as we already installed these roles and features in a previous step using PowerShell and restarted
    our server.
On the Organization name, Type your organization name and then click Next
If the server is facing external access then type the name that your users will be using to access your mail server from the internet. For example, my users will be able to check their mails using any browse by typing http://mail.elmajdal.com
On the Customer Experience Improvement Program, select if you want to join the program or not and then click Next
Exchange Readiness Checks will start to check if all prerequisites are setup and installed, and will report to you if you have any prerequisites missing
The only warning you will receive is that Exchange Server 2010 setup will prepare your Domain for Exchange. The domain preparation operation will start once you click on Install .
Make sure the user you are using to install Exchange is a domain admin, enterprise admin, schema admin. Make sure also that you are logged into the computer using your domain user, and not using a local computer account .
    Exchange installation will start
Installation will be completed. Click Finish
You will be notified that its better to reboot the server after the installation is completed, as setup has made changes to the operating system settings that require a reboot to take effect.
Exchange Management Console will open. and you can start configuring your server, which we will discuss in future articles.
     Source:http://www.elmajdal.net/ExchangeServer/Installing_Exchange_Server_2010_SP1_on_Windows_Server_2008_R2_SP1.aspx
I'm looking for alternatives to the solution you have provided, however, let's say I wanted to explore this option, any ideas on how I can get past the "Personalized Settings (Not Responding)..." part described in my edit to my original post? Thanks

  • Nightmare Customer Service Verizon - DAD cannot connect phone line after fiber installation

Similar to other complaints I have seen online yet Verizon customer service reps deny they have ever heard of the problem.  After FIOS installation my ADT system stopped communicating.
We had Verizon FIOS triple play installed last August (2012) after a summer long marketing campaign by Verizon.  Several trips to get it.   A dropped phone number transfer order and Verizon tried to issue me a new phone number ... that took several attempts to fix.
Sept 2012 Our ADT service calls us to inform us our monitored alarm system stopped communicating  since Aug ... I call ADT  -they say it was Verizons fault, but could come out and fix it for a fee.  It took months to getr back to Verizon
I first spent almost an hour online last night with a Verizon rep who claimed it was not Verizon's fault - Claiming that all the tech had to do was deliver a phone signal to one jack.  I called Verizon customer service and wasted time with that rep also.  I asked hat a supervisor call and the rep could not confirm that a supervisor would even get back to me.
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE - Time to cancel Verizon

Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Please go to your profile page for the forum, and look in the middle, right at the top where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases".
There you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. This should be checked on a frequent basis as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions.

  • Why can't I install any adobe CS products after interrupted installation?

    So here's the deal.
For some stupid reason (don't ask why), I was installing CS6 during a hurricane. After full extraction, installer successfully initialized, but at 95%, there was a power outage. Upon restart, I attempted to uninstall whatever components had been installed to start with a clean slate. Unfortunately, the installation was interrupted just before installing the uninstaller. So...I had to force uninstall. In the process I also deleted a bunch of entries in the registry, and other files that were related or dependencies of CS6. Now in the process, I must have deleted something crucial to adobe installations in the WINDOWS system files, because now I can extract any creative suite related installation, but upon running the installer, I recieve this error:
"Installer failed to initialize. This could be due to a missing file."
Now I've tried everything under the sun. MD5 caches are identical to a pristine download, so no corruption of the files is evident, and I can install a copy of the file on another computer, so evidently it is fully functioning. I don't understand why it's stating there is a "missing file", when all the files required for installation (or so I was led to believe) were inside the directory where the download was extracted. I didn't realize Adobe installations draw upon windows files, but evidently i'm missing something special. I've fixed registry errors and checked the log. As far as I can tell, the FATAL error occurs when adobe installer fails to find a node in a specified directory, yet the log doesn't state the directory or filename so I can't properly investigate. I'm beginning to think the only way I can install CS anything is by reinstalling windows. Please, I require help from experts. Don't ask dumb questions. I'm an IT guy. I'm hoping adobe representatives will have more knowledge on the installation process than I do, recognize the error, or are more capable at disecting the error logs. I will copy and paste the numerous failed installation attempts from the PDapp log below. Please have a look. I need help!

I've done this multiple times and it produces essentially the same message, but there is a mention that a restart is pending. This is also strange because this is definitely not the case. First time I used CScleaner it took a while and was obviously busy correcting something. However now when I select clean all, it simply dumps anopther massive log file into AppData and says cleaning completed successfully. Now I just ran it again, so would you like me to post the more recent log file?

  • Windows 8.1 desktop refresh required after closing mstsc

In Windows 8.1 Pro with Update (64-bit), in desktop mode, after closing the mstsc app (click X in title bar) during an mstsc session to a Window 7 Ent SP1 workstation, the contents of the mstsc window remain displayed and a desktop refresh (right-click->refresh
on the desktop) is required to refresh the desktop to clear the stale content from the display. This does not happen when using mstsc to connect to a legacy Win XP Pro workstation.
Video adapter is an integrated Intel P4600/P4700 with latest drivers provided my Microsoft Update (v10.18.10.3621) in multi-monitor (3 monitors) mode. The mstsc is only active on one monitor.
    Anyone else seen this issue?

Monitor refresh rate (all 3 of them is set to 60hz). Only options on the primary display are 59 or 60Hz.
Setting the refresh rate to 59Hz produces same results. Setting back to 60Hz produces same results.
Sometimes part of the desktop on the monitor with the mstsc window needs to be refreshed, sometimes all of it under the mstsc windows needs to be refreshed, and sometimes, but rarely, the desktop never needs to be refreshed after closing mstsc to this specific
    target.
The mstsc session is not a full screen session and is opened as per:
    C:\Windows\System32\mstsc.exe "<path to rdp file>.rdp" /w:2560 /h:1530
    on a 30" display set for 2560x1600, 32bpp, 60Hz
To clarify, the specific issue manifests when I disconnect the session -- ie. clicking the X in the title bar, then clicking OK in the dialog "Your remote session will be disconnected". The "Your remote session will be disconnected" dialog
disappears (sometimes), and the mstsc windows title bar disappears but some or all of everything else that was inside the mstsc windows (from the remote system) remains displayed (even the mstsc bottom window border) until the desktop is refreshed.
I do note that if I set the mstsc session to full screen and then close/disconnect the session while it is in full screen, that the refresh required after disconnect issue does not manifest.
I am not sure if this is a functional issue in the mstsc client in Windows 8.1 (file version 6.3.9600.16384) or is more generally display/explorer specific. If the issue is broader, I am only noticing it with mstsc.
I've also updated to the latest Intel HD Graphics driver (rel: 2014-08-29) and no difference.

  • 13" late 2011 MacBook Pro has frozen after Yosemite installation. I can, however, boot from a clone of my MacBook Air that is on an external drive. Despite the fact that I can boot from the external, could it be the RAM that's the prob

My daughter's 13" late 2011 MacBook Pro has frozen (null sign displays) after Yosemite installation. I can, however, boot from a clone of my MacBook Air that is on an external drive. I reinstalled Yosemite on the MBP HD, but it still hangs in mid install. Despite the fact that I can boot from the external, could it be the RAM that's the problem? I'd happily put 8 GB in if it seems probable that would solve the problem. I've tried all the suggested procedures that I've seen posted here. Disk Utility, and my older version of DiskWarrior indicate the HD is OK. I have DiskWarrior 5 on order.

Boot the MBP with the OPTION key down.  If successful, you should see two HDD icons,  Select the recovery partition (on the right).
From the 4 option menu select Disk Utility.
Run Disk Utility>First Aid, Verify and Repair.
If the disk cannot be repaired, it will have to be replaced.
    Ciao.

Right now I have a 10.5.8 is there a way to upgrade or something?

Buy the Snow Leopard retail installer (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A?fnode=MTY1NDAzOA).
That will take you to 10.6.3.
If required you can then use the combo updater to get to the latest version, 10.6.8 (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399)

  • OIF installation - OHS doesn't start after Webgate installation

    Hi,
We are using Solaris 10 sparc server where we have installed Oracle Http Server(OHS) instance and Oracle Identity Federation(OIF).
We have also installed Oracle access server on different host and we have created Webgate profile for OHS from Access System Console and assoaciate that webgate with Access Server.
Then we have installed OHS webgate Oracle_Access_Manager10_1_4_3_0_sparc-s2_OHS2_WebGate on the server where OHS is installed, now when we try to restart OHS instance after successful installation of webgate we are getting the following error:
opmnctl startproc: starting opmn managed processes...

Note: We are using the following gcc libraries which are required for the installation of OHS webgate:
    libgcc_s.so.1
    libstdc++.so.5
In the OHS logs we have found an error stating like:
httpd.worker: Syntax error on line 1040 of /app01/Oracle/asinst_1/config/OHS/ohsoam/httpd.conf: Cannot load /app01/netpoint/webgate/access/oblix/lib/libgcc_s.so.1 into server: ld.so.1: httpd.worker: fatal: /app01/netpoint/webgate/access/oblix/lib/libgcc_s.so.1: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32
So can anyone please help us out in finding what is causing this issue. Are we missing something or using wrong libraries?

    Thanks for your response!
We also tried with 64 bit webgate /Oracle_Access_Manager10_1_4_3_0_sparc-s2_64_OHS11g_WebGate/ but we are still getting the following error during the webgate installation itself:

WebGate configuration was unsuccessful. You can run the configuration program
    again or manually run

    ate
Would you like to run it again?
    [X] 1 - Yes
    [ ] 2 - No/
So please let us know are we using the correct libraries and webgate for OHS.
If not then please suggest the link from where we can download the correct one.

I reset the casuser password and restarted the service but still no luck....
    Please suggest.
    With Regards,

    Neena,
Check the properties of casuser under Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Local Users and Groups > Users and make sure it is not disabled or locked out.  The only thing checked should be "Password never expires".  Change anything required and reset casuser.

  • Connect SAP BO server to domain after the installation.

    Hello,
I would like to ask if it is fine to connect SAP BO BI 4.x Windows host to the customer domain after the installation of SAP BO.
I was trying to find answer on this but nowhere is explicitly recommended to connect SAP BO host to domain before the installation.
My question is related to Windows AD Authentication where two conditions need to be secured:
    1. Windows AD authentication only works if the CMS is run on Windows
    2. These Windows machine must be joined to the appropriate AD domain
What I found till know is that you can use Windows AD Authentication only when SAP BO server is in domain.
What is concerning me is that when I start with installation of SAP BO on the server which is not connected to any domain then the installation process is taking during the installation actual hostname of the SAP BO server (e.g. boserver) automatically. There is no requirement or possibility to specify hostname or IP address manually during the installation process. And I assume that connecting SAP BO server to the domain after installation will cause that hostname will change (e.g. to boserver.domain.com).
So question is if this change will cause any issue for functionality of SAP BO application. If not could you please send me an official statement from SAP Note or any BO Documentation as I was not able to find any.
Thanks in advance for opinions and answers.
    BR,
    Peter

    Hi Bill,
thanks for reply. I spoke with couple of my colleagues which are supporting AD and yes I can agree with you that connecting server to the customer domain after the installation of BO can bring some limitation up to Domain policy.
Best practice in order to prevent possible issues is to join server to the domain before installation.
Another possible issue can be that some customers are using own naming convention for server's hostname so joining server to the customer domain is conditioned by a change of hostname and this can cause issue with correct functioning of BO application.
Thanks again for your opinion I really appreciate it.
    Wish you a nice week.
    BR,
    Peter

  • Are Profiles and DBA Access to users required after MRCA is installed ?

Customer has installed oracle B2B through MRCA .
There are 4 questions that need to be answered.
    Question 1
    ===========
We would like to know if the profiles and DBA access to users are required after MRCA is installed ?
    Question 2
    ==========
If we remove these privileges will there be any impact to future Application Server upgrades, applying of patches ?
    Question 3
    ============
There is a schema called BASEDEF with the two roles BASEAPP_ADMIN and BASEAPP_INSTANCE_ADMIN .
Please could you let us know the purpose of this schema and its usage ?
    Question 4
    ============
Does the schema BASEDEF affects b2b in any manner ?
    Regards,
    Suresh

    Hi Suresh,
Please find below answer of your questions-
    1. Profiles are created automatically during installation and they are required for maintaining the functionality of B2B. DBA access to these profiles are not required.
    2. If you revoke DBA access from the profiles, then it should not affect the functionality of B2B. Generally Patch scripts are run on account "b2b" and this account does not have dba access so there should be no problem due to access revoke.
Any DBA can answer your 3rd and 4th question.
    Regards,
    Anuj

  • Can i delete iPhoto after iOS8 installation?

    can i delete iPhoto?

iPhoto was been replaced by Photo after iOS8 installation, so my question is:
    can i delete iPhoto?
Make a backup to save it.
Open "Photos" to migrated your photos to Photos, otherwise your photos will be deleted
Right now, iPhoto is unsupported on iOS 8 and does not run.
Unfortunately, Photos is not a full replacement for iPhoto. Many features are missing, as you will discover - no Journals, no books, no brushed adjustments, no tags, no Info panel.

  • After the installation of Lion I don't see the partition with Windows 7. The solution?

After the installation of Lion I don't see the partition with Windows 7. The solution?

Let's be real clear here -- are you saying you are using Internet Explorer and when you try and download Mozilla Firefox it gets around 75% through and shuts down?
If so there is something wrong with your computer -- or at least IE. I rarely, if ever, recommend this, but it might be time to reformat your hard drive and reinstall your OS (if you are even thinking about doing this the first thing you must do is back up all your data files, preferably to writable media like DVDR or CDR).
If you have a friend with a computer perhaps you can get them to download both the latest iTunes as well as (more importantly) the latest firmware updater, and then install them on your machine (they can write them to their own CD).
The other thing that occurs to me is you might not be logged in as admin on that computer -- make sure you are doing this and are the only user.
Otherwise my brain is fuzzy right now -- perhaps someone else can jump in after you reply (I'm right in the middle of packing for a cross country move and only able to spend about five minutes a day on this board).
