Rights to general users

When I grant manage rights to PUBLIC user, they can change everything for others and for themselves. By default the setting is set to 'Others'. Can I change that to 'Myself' by default. In which tables this information is stored.. Is there any API availabe for this.

• Adobe flash wont work for general users in Citrix

I have a Citrix Xenapp 5 farm 2008 32 bit and I am trying to get Adobe flash 10 player working for general users. It works fine for admins though not when logging a citrix session as a general user (if I give that user admin rights it is fine). I have used the full edition of the installer with different versions and they all dont work for users.
I ensured that ie security was turned off for both users and computers.
gave read access to some registry enteries.
gave everyone group write access to C:\Windows\System32\Macromed.
I am using the citrix receiver.
it is not being streamed.
I excluded the group policies for the test user and still same issue.
I have tried different versions of flash and nothing has worked. I disabled the gpos for the user and still the same issue. the RSOP didn't have anything that stood out. there was nothing in the event log which gave any errors about it.
Seems to be a permissions issue somewhere.
Any ideas appreciated.

What is your operating system & version?
What is your browser & version?
What means "not working" - what exactly happens when you try?

• XK03 can be restricted by account group in order to prevent general users

Hello Gurus,
Please advise, if XK03 can be restricted by account group in order to prevent general user population from displaying employee data ?
I understand that XK03 has auth object F_LFA1_GRP for account group in which I restricted with 03 and particular account groups but still the test is failing because the test user is able to view employee data.
Please suggest..
Regard's

Hi Alex,
Thank you !
By your last update, do you mean auth group or account group? If you are talking about auth group then this auth object F_LFA1_BEK (XK03) has auth group.
I checked the F_LFA1_GRP is active in SU24. Is there something which i need to look in F_LFA1_BEK for particular auth group after restricting the auth object F_LFA1_GRP with account group ?
Thank you for your valuable suggestions

Hi,
From your description, it is recommended to suspend the failed database copy at first using the cmdlet below.
Suspend-MailboxDatabaseCopy -Identity "xxx"
And then reseed the database with a new copy using Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy -Identity "xxx" -DeleteExistingFiles cmdlet.
What's more, here is a helpful thread for your reference.

• Wich rights must a user have to copy a table to another user?

Wich rights must a user have to copy a table to another user? If I try it while using SQLDeveloper I become a message wich says that the user has not enough rights.

If you are trying to create a table in a schema other than your own, you must have the CREATE ANY TABLE system privilege.

• HT2470 Why won't Itunes store my music library in my User/Music Folder, if I select my user name as a storage location in Itunes, Itunes creates folders for artist name right in my user folder, instead of in my user/music folder

Why won't Itunes store my music library in my User/Music Folder?
If I select my user name as a storage location in Itunes, Itunes creates folders for artist name right in my user folder, instead of in my user/music folder. This gets especially annoying because if I tell Itunes to store my "media" in my user/music folder, Itunes will then create a folder named "music" in my "music" folder and will also create additional folders in my user/music folder location to store other non-music media in as well. It is very annoying to see this lack of affinity for folders between two Apple created programs.

• Install OEM for general users

Is it possible to give access to OEM to general users who are supposed to only view the information and be able to run any admin commands. I am looking at monitoring Oracle for high level things like tablespaces, sqls etc so that someone could watch and send alerts to us. This someone could be operator, general user(non admin).

Its always good to mention database version. Anyways, why would you want users to do it for you or send alerts to you? By any means, minimumly you need to give them (anyone) dba role to see all this kind of info which if ,can't be called giving some one a sword, surely is like giving knife, enough to kill others as well himself. If you are using 10g than all these alerts and everything are preset in it. You can use those settings and send yourself email, page when some thng goes beyond limit.

hello,
I'm using LC8.0.1 turnkey install on win2003 box.
Problem is LC Rights Management End User can not find groups or users (search result is empty) during policy creation process, thus can not apply specific restriction to certain groups or users.
I have create a user in the DefaultDom and assigned the following roles:
Live Cycle Rights Management Invite User
Live Cycle Rights Management End User
How can I allow the above created user to search for groups and user during policy creation? Thanks.

Good catch Phuc. Make sure you do this for each Policy Set as well as My Policies.

• How to grant LOGON ONLY Rights to two users (no domain admins) on Domain Controllers

Dear Techies,
I wish to grant LOGON ONLY Rights to two users, who are not the members of Domain Admins, on Domain Controllers.
Can someone please suggest the best and easiest possible way to do this keeping up with Compliance?
Regards
Amit Kumar

I think it is by design, the readers don't have access to the operations and application management section. If you look at the URL's you will notice they are of the form http://servername:portnumber/_admin/operations.aspx and http://servername:portnumber/_admin/applications.aspx. Giving read only access to these pages means, they will be not able to modify the settings on these pages.
Looks like it is not possible to give read only access.
Thanks,

• Cannot set admin right to my user root account has STANDARD RIGHTS!

I had this common problem, my account turned to standard.
I followed the instructions here.
I changed the root password from the install DVD, restarted.
logged in as "root", but the root user has standard rights as well!!
therefore I cannot change the rights of my user...
any suggestions?

Wow, it looks like you went for the deluxe bugs package.
..."now I'm the adminstrator. but this didn't change the fact, that folder I'm creating ( doesn't matter where ) have "read only" rights for the admin. system has read write....
You hadn't mentioned that before, but actually that sounds like a completely different problem, one that can be caused by using "repair permissions" on a 10.5 volume while booted from a 10.4 (or earlier) disk - this might also include having used "DiskWarrior" to repair permissions (something the manufacturer advises against). Unfortunately, Apple is in the process of revising how "repair permissions" works, and the new method in 10.5 doesn't appear to be fully implemented. As a result, it does not fix this problem, which is purely a permissions issue. If this is indeed the problem, the most straightforward way to get back to a normal system is to reinstall - an "archive and install" while preserving network and user settings should be sufficient for this particular issue. If you are comfortable with the command line, it may be possible to change permissions manually - it would be necessary to attempt a permissions "repair" or "verify" under Leopard, and to record and carefully analyze the messages to determine what needs to be fixed, and how.
The "Finder" crashes are due to another bug - the GUI crashes when there are files or folders with a group ID that doesn't correspond to a group record in "DirectoryService". There are various strategies to use as workarounds: if all of the problem files have the same group ID, it is probably fastest just to create a group record for that group. If there are a number of different groups involved, doing a batch change of group from the command line might be easier. To get an ideal of what groups are involved, the following command can be used to display the various factors regulating access to a particular file or folder - try using it to survey a selection of different items exhibiting the problem:

ls -elO /path/to/item

Copying the items to an external drive, then copying them back to a folder that does not display "(unknown)" in "Get Info" might be another strategy (but note that there have been some reports of data loss copying large amounts of data - even after the 10.5.1 update, and even copying instead of moving). Ultimately, these are just workarounds and Apple really needs to fix this sooner than later - it's getting stupid.
But actually, considering all of the different issues you are experiencing, backing up the data to an external drive (and verifying the integrity of the backup), then performing a full "erase and install" might be the one stop solution. I'm not sure about the best strategy for reimporting the data once that is done since I have never used the Apple tools and do not know how they handle ownership and permissions (what is perserved, etc.) - hopefully someone else will be able to fill in those details.
So you were bitten by the "Get Info" crash bug, a second issue caused directly by following what turned out to be bad advice in an official kb article, and had a permissions problem that couldn't be resolved using the tool that is supposed to deal with permissions problem. I'd call that a Leopard beta hat trick.

• Is there any way to provide only Install / Uninstall rights to domain users in AD 2008?

I need to provide just Install / Uninstall rights to domain users avoiding all other admin privileges.
I cant provide admin rights to them.
Is there any way I can provide them???

Greetings!
Install and uninstalling the software needs specific permissions to write and modify the registry keys and other locations. By default only members of local administrators group are allowed to take a part in this process. There is no possible way to implement
only this right in your domain. They must be member of local administrators.
Regards.
