Ring-vibrate options

Just got a new Tour for work and the ring and vibrate options have taken a big step backwards from the other five BB I have had. Gone are the options for an increasing ringtone and the vibrate then continual ring. I miss too many calls with the vibrate -one ring-vibrate-one ring option. Any plans to change this back? The current options are the same as a cheap cell phone and are not suitable for business people

Try downloading "Droid Vol Rocker" from the Android Market.  It seems to solve this problem for me.  It alternates between silent and vibrate mode everytime you move the volume all the way down.
For Example
1.  Phone is in Ring mode
2.  Volume Down Pushed All The Way To The Bottom the Phone goes to silent
3.  Push Vol Up One Time
4.  Push Vol Down One Time and the phone goes to vibrate.  They just continue to alternate.
There is a good youtube video search for "Droid Vol Rocker" and you'll find it.
Hope this helps.

  • IPhone 4 never vibrated from day 1 and yes vibrate option is on. Any ideas??

My i4 has never vibrated from the day I received it. I've updated done hard resets. Any other option before I line up hours on end at apple store on George St .. Vibrate option is turned on yes. I've put up with it for 6 months. It's time to complain

Instead of complaining, why don't you make an appointment at the genius bar and get your phone evaluated.  I'm baffled as to what you think other users on this fourm can offer you to fix a clearly broken iPhone.

  • Droid X Ringer/Vibrate Problem....

My Droid X only vibrates when calls come in now... Can't turn it to silent or have a normal ring... I have tried to manual adjust on the side of the phone, use the menu option to adjust the ringer, and the lock screen when you first initiate the phone... no luck!  Has anyone had a similar problem?  Please help... frustrated...

I would perform a hard reset. Performing a hard reset will remove ALL data including the Google account, system data, application data, application settings, and downloaded applications. To perform a hard reset follow the directions below:
From the home screen click the applications tab
    Touch settings
    Touch privacy
    Touch Factory Data reset
Touch reset phone (If presented, enter the current passcode or draw the unlock pattern.)
    Touch erase everything

  • Iphone 3GS not ringing/vibrating when called.

    Hello,
When I call my Iphone 3GS with another phone (while in sleep mode) , the Iphone does not ring nor vibrates.
However, when I push the home button while the call is comming in, the Iphone awakens and starts ringing and vibrating.
If the home button is not pressed the Iphone remains completely silent.
When I restart the Iphone it works perfectly for a few times and then shows the same problematic behaviour again.
I've updated the OS to the latest version, restored the Iphone a few times, nothing helps.
I found someone with the same problem saying that it is a battery related problem, so I've changed the battery and it didn't solve the problem.
The problem also persists after changing to a different opperator. (I didn't switch operators to solve this problem, it had other reasons, but does excludes it as a possible solution)
To me it seems like a software problem. Anyone any ideas on how to fix this?
    Thanks
    Jonathan

  • Text vibrate options?

I have an iPhone 4S OS ver 5.1.1. Is there any way to make the phone vibrate more than once upon an incoming text? I know you can do this through accesability for incoming voice calls but the text vibrate seems to be set to once and once only.

When I do that, it neither vibrates or chimes (even when the silent mode switch is off).

  • Separate vibrate options for apps and phone settings

    Hi all,
In the old iOS there was the possibility to enable or disable vibration per application.
For instance, it was possible to receive badges and alerts for facebook and whatsapp WITHOUT vibration.
At the same time, you could receive text messages and phone calls in silent mode WITH vibration.
I notice that in the iOS 5 it is only possible to enable vibrate for everything or nothing.
So with vibrate on, whatsapp, facebook, calls and text notifications will vibrate like crazy. If vibrate is off, I will not get any notification expect for the visuals ones.
I want my phone to vibrate only when I get called or receive text messages in silent mode, I do not like my phone vibrating non-stop with every whatsapp alert.
Can anyone help me, cause it is really driving me crazy!
    Thanks!

Assuming this is what you are wanting to do, you can go to "Set Ringtones/Alerts" (select the speaker icon on the home page) and then choose the sounds you want for phone vs the ones for each email  you are wanting to change. If you don't want emails to make any sound the just change the volume to "silent" for each email.

  • Ring and vibrate at the same time

Hi is it possible to get my iphone to ring and vibrate at the same time ? and is it also possible to let it ring louder as when it is in my bag it is very difficult to hear it ! even though i pushed it on maximum.
    thanks

    Leclere Madelon,
Some ringtones are louder than others. For example "Crickets" is pretty quiet. "Old Phone" and "Alarm" are both louder.
As for having it vibrate and ring, go to Settings -> Sounds.
The Vibrate option under Silent decides whether or not it vibrates in silent mode. The Vibrate option under Ring decides if it Vibrates when it is ringing.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

  • Ringer going on and off?

I bought a Mophie Juice Pack Air (not sure if this has anything to do with it...but this is when the problem started) and the ringer decided to go on and off. Sometimes I can increase the volume up and down, and sometimes it flat out turns off and I can't hear the sounds when I receive a text, send a text, etc. It looks like this.
I've gone into Sounds - and clicked on and off for the Vibrate option, and messed with all the other options that would control this. Anyone have this issue before?

Your phone is fried.  Water and electronics don't mix.  Bring your phone, and $199 to Apple for an out of warranty replacement.

  • Should I be able to hear my iPhone ringing in my Pocket?

It just seems like the phone isnt loud enough to hear, I have no way to compare with another iPhone so I thought I'd ask in here because i figure a phone should be noticeable in one's pocket.
    thanks in advance.

It depends on the tone selected. Some are very quiet or of a 'soft' nature that are easily missed if the iPhone is in a pocket or not within reach, but others (the Old Phone tone being a good example) can be heard even in very noisy environments.
Given that there is an option to enable vibrate with ring, there's no reason to believe that an iPhone in any pocket or in a case and on the person, will not be noticed when a call is received.
Tones for incoming emails, SMS, etc are a different matter though. These sounds are quite soft and don't repeat until cancelled so they are more easily missed. Volume for these is controlled by the Sound settings along with ringtone volume and vibrate option, but the tones for these events can't be changed. Leaving vibrate set to on is the best way to reduce the risk of missing these tones if the phone is in a pocket.

  • Iphone 4s doesn't vibrate after installing IOS 8.1

My Iphone 4s, 32GB lately doesn't seem to vibrate and i suppose it is after the recent update of IOS 8.1 . It does vibrate when i do certain tasks like keying in a wrong password or when i go into Settings>Sound to ensure that vibrate is on for both 'ring' and and on silent. I have restarted(power off and on) it twice and it hasn't helped. i have also just toggled the On/off on the vibrate option, none of which worked. Iam unsure whether this problem had crept while installing IOS 8 itself, since wasn't discernible until lately as i have been getting more calls than normal due to a frenetic time at office. Kindly help with any suggestions or let me know if it is a problem specific to my phone or a software problem which will get rectified in eventual update releases. Other details : It has approx 5GB of space left. All other functions work as desired.

Did you also try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again? You will not lose data by resetting.
If this does not work, and to rule out a software issue, set it up as new device, explained here:
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups
You may try without using the latest backup first, in case it contained damaged data, causing this problem. If it works after that, use the backup to restore from.

  • Alert Vibration

I love my new Palm Centro, but it keeps alerting me with a short vibration, the only thing I can figure, is it is telling me I have email, but that is a guess, I check my email after the vibration and most of the time I did just get an email but some times not. I have tried to shut this off, but no luck, I called Sprint and they had me turn off the alert under emails and sounds but I still get this irritating vibration? I use Sprint Mobile for my emails and cannot find a spot there to turn this off, does anyone know how to turn off alerts under sprint mobile?  Has this happened to anyone else? I have tried turning everything off except the ringer and alerts to phone, calendar and clock.
    Thanks
    Post relates to: Centro (Sprint)

Hello and thank you for using the Palm Help Forums!
On your device, under "All" application, go to Prefs/ Preferences. In there, open Sounds an Alerts. You will see an Applications selection with a drop down box. Choose the correct application that you are receiving the vibration alerts from. Under the Vibrate option choose "Never"
    I hope this helps.

  • IPhone takes a moment to vibrate when turned on silent mode

When I click the little switch on the left side of the iPhone it doesn't vibrate right away it takes a few seconds, my moms iPhone and friends iPhone both do it instantly. I've tried closing all my apps but it still does it, any way to fix this?

    TuesdaysGone89 wrote:
I went into settings and changed the vibrate setting to only vibrate in silent mode, and when i put it in silent mode it doesn't vibrate. The only time it will vibrate in silent mode is if i have it set to vibrate all the time which i don't want. Any help would be appreciated it. I just got my phone last week so i'm still fairly new at it.
Also on a side note does anyone notice the in call volume being slightly lower, or is it just me. My old phone when I had my in call volume maxed out i could hold the phone away from my ear and hear them clear as day. With this phone i have to have the phone pressed against my ear to hear clearly. I didn't  know if that was a 2.2 issue or what because all my other speakers work great and are very loud I had to actually turn down my media speaker. Thanks again God Bless.
I may can help you with this but it would be easier if I knew what alert you are wanting to vibrate because as reported in other post that there is a number of settings for the device to alert you.
    1. Check Setting/Sound/Vibrate and change setting to Vibrate "Only in Silent Mode"
    2. Under Messaging click Account Name/Left Menu Key/Email Setting/Notifications/Check Vibrate...This option is listed under all accounts listed under Messaging ececpt SMS.
    3. For Gmail has to goto to Gmail/Left Menu Key/More/Settings/Vibrate/Only When Silent
If this doesnt resolve issue, you may want to look into Audio Manager or WidgetLocker, I use both of these and I never have to worry about the vibrate option because Audio Manager places all volume options in one place and WidgetLocker allows you to toggle from Ring-Silent-Vibrate just by swiping a slider on lock screen.   Hope this helps you.

  • IPhone 4 does not ring for incoming calls

I got the iPhone 4 two days ago, and I noticed that when someone calls me, the phone will vibrate, but it will not ring.  The volume on the ringer is set to the highest level.  I downloaded an update for the phone 2 days ago.  What can I do to get my phone to ring?  Do you think the update had anything to do with the problem?
Thank you in advance for your help!

    Hello Dracheskind,
Have you corrected the issue with the ringtone volume? If not, make sure the Ring/Silent button above the volume keys is turned on (if off, orange sticker will appear). Then go to settings > sounds > Ringer and Alerts > change the volume to loud. The vibrate options can stay on. If all of these settings are enabled, try changing the ringtone.

  • No new ring tones after updating software on 3gs

I downloaded the 4.2 software for my 3GS. In the software package it's supposed to come with more ring tone options for text messages and the ability to assign personal ringtones to contacts. I can assign personal ringtones but I don't have the new extra ones. I sync both my phone and my boyfriends 3GS from my Mac book pro and neither of our phones have the extra tones. Any suggestions??

    Hi,
Unfortunately us 3GS people don't get the new Text msg tones…
They are only for the iPhone 4
