Ringtone Error?

I specifically purchased a CD from iTunes to build a ringtone. The little bells are present for the entire album yet I get a message saying "Name of song" can no longer be made into ringtone. Anybody else? What gives?

Have you authorized your computer at all??
Not saying that it's the fix..but it's worth a shot, incase.

  • Ringtone Error message when creating?

Is anyone else having issues creating a ringtone? I cant seem to actually create a ringtone. I have a song that has the little bell, but when i try to download and create the clip I receive and error message? Any suggestions?

This may be related. I get error message (-42160) and that it could not create the ringtone, along with a suggestion to try later. The song does have the bell next to it and I was able to edit.
This follows having successfully purchased two other ringtones just minutes before.

  • Cannot Create Ringtones - Error 11556

I just got an iPhone and wanted to created Ringtones for it. I am following the online instructions and I keep getting this error message. Another thing I have noticed that worries me is that none of my songs that I've purchased through iTunes have a "bell" beside it indicating I can use it for a Ringtone. Can anyone help!

Looks like you can't make ringtones outside the U.S. But one thing you can do is switching to Unites States (in the iTunes Store), this way you'll be able to create ringtones.

  • Unable to convert purchased songs to ringtones Error (11556)

Whenever I follow the steps to create a ringtone with songs purchased from itunes store, I get the following error message:
"iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store. An unkniown error occurred (11556).
Make sure your network connection is active and try again"
Yet I can connect to the iTunes store if I want to check my account or buy songs. What can I do to correct this - I am connecting from Australia.

Apple should just come out and tell the truth: even though they advertise you can make ringtones out of your downloads in every regional iPhone page (UK, MX, AU, etc.), this feature isn't available anywhere outside US...
Error 11556 is short for: we haven't solved that copyright issue _just yet_

  • Renaming a Ringtone Error

I have downloaded many ringtones to my BB 8330 Curve.  I have tried numerous times to go in and rename them to make it easier to find what I want.  My problem is that when I rename the ringtone it gives me a "File System Error".  The only option it then gives is for you to hit "ok".  There isn't a button to click on that will give me details as to what this file system error is.  Can anyone help me figure this out??  PLEASE...this is driving me insane
    Thanks in advance.

  • Create ringtone - Error 11556

WHEN I WANT TO CREATE A RINGTONE FROM A TUNE PURCHASED ON ITUNE AND RECEIVE A 11556 ERROR CODE... AND OF COURSE CANNOT CREATE MY RINGTONE!!!

Unless something's changed in the last couple of days, Apple has not been able to obtain licenses to sell ringtones anywhere but in the US as of yet. So you will not be able to create and purchase ringtones through the iTunes Store. There are other ways to create ringtones, though; just search the web for "iPhone ringtones" and you'll find lots of information.
    Regards.
Forum Tip: It is generally considered inappropriate to type all in uppercase letters in Internet discussions, as text that is typed all in uppercase is by convention considered to be shouting. Uppercase is also more difficult to read, so please use all uppercase sparingly and only when you really mean to shout, which we hope you won’t need to do here .

  • Create new ringtone - Error 11556

    Hi all
i buy a music mp3 from itunes store to create a new ringtone for my iphone3g.
When i click to "Create Ringtone" i view a message on the screen:
"...Unkwon error (11556)... check your network connection".
but my internet connection is ok.
what's the problem? I live in Italy
    Christian

Sorry, but unless something's changed in the last couple of days, Apple has not been able to obtain licenses to sell ringtones anywhere but in the US as of yet. Why it generates a cryptic error rather than just saying that ringtones aren't available in your country, I don't know.
There are other ways to create ringtones, though; just search the web for "iPhone ringtones" and you'll find lots of information.

  • I Phone Ringtone error

When I select "create ringtone" in my purchased songs I get the error 11556 and it says that I was unable to connect to the ITUNES store. As I use a broadband connection and have had no other problems connecting to the i-store to purchase music is there a solition someone can suggest.
    Cheers

I had the same issue and it was pretty annoying until I stumbled on a solution on the web... Now I'm not sure if I'm allowed to describe it here so here goes:
Please note that the first time u might find this process tidious but u'll get used to it so pls bare with me
    - Import to iTunes the cd with the music that you'd wanna use as a ringtone...
    - Go to that particular track and press "command-i" i.e. FILE~GET INFO
    - Choose OPTIONS
    - Make sure u check the little boxes next to START TIME and STOP TIME
    - Then enter the "minutes" and "seconds" in both spaces (where you want your ringtone to start from and end). For example from 1(min)10(sec) to 1(min)25(sec)
    - Press OK
    - Now right click on the selected track in ur iTunes library and click on CREATE AAC VERSION
    - iTunes will now create and add to your iTunes library that particular track which length is 15 seconds (pls note that if the length of that track is more than 40 seconds iTunes will not accept it as a RINGTONE
    - Now drag that 15 seconds track to your desktop
    - Change its file extension from m4a (AAC version) to m4r (RINGTONE version), it will prompt u if ur sure u wanna change the extension, confirm yes.
    - Go back to iTunes nad delete from the library the 15 seconds length track
    - Now drag the new m4r track from ur desktop to ur iTunes library, iTunes will automatically add it under RINGTONES in ur library
    - Sync ur iPhone and now u have a custom made ringtone on ur iPhone
I personally tried it and it works perfectly well... Cheers...

  • Nokia 6085 ringtone issue

    hi all,
I've got a nokia 6085 and I tried getting some of my own ringtones on to it. however, although it can play the files, it won't use them as ringtones (error message "Not allowed by activation key" and "cannot be set as ringing tone"). I tried then to convert the files using the PC Suite. when I drag and drop the files and have it convert them (either to m4a or aac - any of the bit rates) it says "unable to convert the file [file name] to mobile optimized format."
does anyone have any ideas why this occurs? I tried uploading the files as aac, m4a and mp3, all at various bit rates. the phone can play them, but it won't let me use them as ring tones.
    thank you.

I select a ringtone to save to desktop as instructed, only I receive an error message indicated unable to save ringtone "you do not have enough access previlages" What is this? How do I resolve this issue?
    Thank you

    Deggie: You are a genius!!!
Spot on! It was a hardware conflict. Followed your instructions, changed the drive letter and lo and behold job done!
    Thank you so much!
Incidentally none of my local iPod Genius Help guys could sort the problem out when i brought it round to them yesterday. The best they could do was to suggest 'restore' with it's 'wipe everything' implications.
i doff my cap to you.

  • I get this error when trying to create a ringtone - iTunes could not connec

I get this error when trying to create a ringtone:
"iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store - an unknown error occurred (11556)"
But I CAN connect - if I click on the iTunes Store, it connects right away.

  • Itunes install hangs due to ringtones.xib error?

When I try to upgrade or uninstall then reinstall Itunes 7.7, I get an error statement that reads:
error writing to file C:\program files\itunes\itunes.resources\ko.lproj\ringtone.nib\objects.xib. Verify that you have access to that directory
I have Windows XP and I am the only one with an account on this computer. Any ideas?

Why use the STATIC flag? Doing so overwrites the patch-in-place function
This is by design. The machines being built are on a closed network that will throw security alerts whenever unexpected network calls are made (e.g. an auto update poll).
    Can you just run <installer> /s ?
As part of the troubleshooting process I have run it with all flags in all combinations, including the basic "/s". The dialog is thrown regardless.
If there's a problem, maybe you should try the offline installer?
This is the offline installer. It's not exactly offline. Quite exasperating to be honest.

  • PLEASE HELP - Error message, re "unsupported" ringtone format

Although I was able to open, download and use ringtones recently, now when I attempt to open any ringtones I receive this error message in the Media folder: "The media being played is of an unsupported format."  and will not play.  I haven't received any calls to test whether my phone will ring or not,  but I'm assuming since it won't play back in Media, I'm unable to pull up the ringtone..period.
I'm a newbie to Blackberrys...any help would be so appreciated.  Thank you.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I honestly don't know - the problem seemed to have fixed itself when I plugged it into the Desktop Manager and I sync'd everything.  Very strange, but I couldn't tell you exactly how the problem was solved.
