Sorry if I cant ask this but this is the only place that has the right answers. I had a ringtone app and loved it all of it worked great. Recently I had to take in my computer to get fixed (never doing that again) and all of it started screwing up. I cant put the ringtones on anymore. It says "The required file could not be found" it never has said that before. I have no idea how to fix it or what to do. It hasnt dont that, but since the guy "fixed" my laptop it doesnt work. Any idea on how I can fix this. the app is the RMaker if that helps. Please help.

Open Edit > Preferences > General tab, make sure Tones (formerly Ringtones) is ticked.
This label changed with iTunes 10.5.1.42 which also changes the folder used to store Tones in the media folder.

I deleted it and put another version of the same ringtone into itunes and then synced again but this time, both of the same ringtone was on my phone, but only one ringtone file was found in itunes. How can I restore my ringtones files after an iTune software update?

This has really upset me but I can't find anyone to help. If you can, it would be greatly appreciated.
I have create a bunch of ringtones and they have been showing up fine on my iTune and synced to my iPhone without any problem. Recently, i have replaced my iPhone. One time the iTune asked me to relocate the library file when i started the application. Then I chose the latest library file in my system. After i did it, I realized that the ringtones are not on my iPhone anymore and they are all gone on my iTune.
I tried to go in to the Windows files and look for those ringtone files but i have no clue where they are and how to identify them.
How can i check if they might be hidden somewhere or they have been lost mysteriously?

Thanks for the reply.
I had been to that page during my search for solutions but found it a bit confusing, although I did create a new profile but didn't understand the choose folder part.
I re-read the instructions and I have been able to restore my old profile.
So, thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
Re: running my Firefox from a non-administrator account
I think this may have been the cause of the profile problem.
I.e. when I selected 'Choose a folder' when creating the new profile, the default folder path was Administrator> etc., where as my old profile was not there, but in Username> etc. folder path...
I understand browsing from a non-administrator account is the sensible security option, but is causes other problems when installing updates...

HELP...Finding Installed Ringtone Files

Does anyone know how you find the factory installed ringtones files on a Nokia N95 and N97? I tried using explore your device on Ovi Suite, even with showing hidden files I can not find them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The ringtone files themselves are in the phone's ROM, access to which is not granted using Nokia-approved software.

Bought a ringtone eligible song, not in ringtones file

I just bought a ringtone eligible song (there was a bell next to it when I bought it), but it isn't coming up in the Ringtones file. ?? Help please!! I'm anxious to get a ringtone on my iPhone!

did you buy the song or the ringtone?
First you need to buy the song, once you have the song then you create a ringtone and then you buy that ringtone and at that point you'll see it in the Ringtone folder

iTunes>Preferences>General>Show>Tones...make sure Tones is checked. If you can't see the sidebar: iTunes>View>Show Sidebar.
If the ringtone has the proper extension: m4r, simply dropping it on the iTunes app logo will put it in the proper location.

Unable to set as ringtone file is unprotected N73

I can transfer my mp3 to my N73 V 3.0716.1.5.1 without any problem PC suite.
They get converted either to m4a or aac format and I can listen to them.
However, when I want to set them as Ringtone I get the following error: Unable to set as ringtone file is unprotected
I was reading that this has something to do with symbian coding or whatsoever, but thats just above my level.
I am using XP service pack 2.
The MP3 files are encoded by dbpoweramp by myself.
I am gratefull for any advice.
Considering the N73 I have to say, Nokia should be ashamed to call this a multimedia phone. I own it for 1 week now, but discovered so many buggs already.

Ringtones library is now called Tones. If you don't see Tones under the Library, go to iTunes menu EDIT>Preferences>check the Tones box under General tab, sources then click ok.

You cannot, at least without making some adjustments. Ringtone files have to be 30 seconds or less and have to be converted to mr4 files.

Can't convert ringtone files recovered from Nokia ...

Hi everyone
I have a bunch of ringtones which I have recovered from a Nokia 6760 Slide. They were stored on the included 64 megabyte micro SD card. I want to convert them into a format used by my current phone.
They appear as ".aac" files which play well on VLC on my Mac. However, I cannot import them into iTunes and they will not play with any other media player. I cannot even import them into Fission to convert to another format. The export function of VLC appears to work, BUT when you try to play the newly created mp3 or whatever format you chose on some other player you again get an error.
I suspect the aac is suffix is just a container for an atypical or proprietary codec or something.
Does anyone have any ideas?

SOLVED.
I tried many codec conversion apps: VLC, MPEG Streamclip, FFMpeg, Fission, MeGUI, Max.
I found out they were actually ADTS files inside an "aac" container.
In the end, I gave up on converting the files and simply recorded the VLC stream with Piezo.
CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Don't bother trying to convert ADTS files. Nokia probably used some proprietary method of encoding.
Recording audio is much much easier.

Corrupted ringtone files? 6060 -model

I got this issue: the other day I noticed my ringtone had changed to the Nokia tune without me changing it. I had a downloaded file as my real ringtone, and have never had this happen before.
So, I went through the gallery, and I get info that all the ringtones and alert files are corrupted. I've not downloaded anything new in the past MONTHS, nor has the phone been in magnetic fields or anything.
Both Nokia originals and downloaded tones are corrupted.
If someone has had the same issue, i'd appreciate some comments before I harrass the tech support about this.

Unless you are really lucky then I don't think the phone restart will do any long term good. My Dad has the 6030 and it suffers from this problem. It will either select the Nokia ringtone or just give a single beep which means that calls are often missed. It is sometimes ok after a reset but is still a major issue. It came from an Orange shop and as it is over 28 days old they said to contact Nokia direct. I have also provided details to my parents of their nearest Nokia repair centre...

3220 Ringtone File Size Limitation

Is there a file size limitation for this phone? My phone responds with file corrupt if i try to load anything above about 20k. All seem ok if under this size - all get reported as corrupt if above?
Has anyone managed to use a ringtone with this phone using a file size of above 25k?

Are you using the Nokia software to load the ringtones onto the phone? You cannot just copy midi files (".mid"), they have to be converted into a special format. Some midi files are copyright-protected and will not work, but I have added customised ring tones to my own, and my daughter's Nokia 3220's successfully. Next on the list is another 3220 for the other daughter, complete with her choice of ringtones !

A note about me... I don't watch movies, listen to music, play games, tweet, twitter, or any of that. I use my phone as a phone, have a few basic apps that I find useful. I use of the camera to capture the needed documentation every so often. I want ring tones to separate out work from personal contacts and I have a few that I want to load on my phone.
I've converted several sound effects/music snippets to .m4r as I believe are required for being used for ringtones on iPhone 5. I am getting frustrated and dismayed at my inability to simply move them over to my iPhone. My iPhone replaced a BlackBerry that never had any problems with importing, creating or playing almost any type of sound as a ring tome. The iPhone is better than the BlackBerry, so why can't it do this simply...

Can only be done if you have an IMAP or Exchange account. You create the folders on the server & they will then sync to all of your devices. Not possible with a POP account, & locally created folders(on your computer) cannot sync to any of your devices. Same with mail rules, they must be done at the server level.

Having troubled with already purchased ringtones not appearing in the ringtone file of itunes not able to sync into iphone4 after installing ios5

the tones show in the music library and also in the purchased section, but in the listing of tones there is nothing. After sync with the Iphone 4 they do not appear. So to look I selected on selected tones and it only shows 1 of 15. How can I fixed this? either have the ringtones back into "image of a bell" tones so they can appear on the iphone as ringtones and I can select them .
