Ringtone m4r file not appearing in Tones/Ringtones

Hi
I have a iPhone 4s and have created a 30sec ringtone with the Ringtone app.
Having followed the instructions, I have managed to transfer the file to my PC.
In Windows Explorer, I can see that the file type is .m4r and the item type is Ringtone.
However, when I add this file in to my Library, it appears under the "Music" folder and not the "Tones" folder.
I am therefore unable to add this as a ringtone on my phone.
Also, when I click on "Devices" in iTunes, I do not have a "Ringtones" tab
I have searched the net and it appears that others have had this problem but I have yet to find a solution to resolve it.
Pleaes can someone advise how to get a .m4r file to be added to the "Tones" folder in my Library?
Thanks in advance
Anton

Hi Anton,
I was having the same problem, here's the solution that worked for me.
After you've created the .m4r file, you need to edit it's filename so there are no spaces in it, for example "lostwoods.m4r" Then you can drag those files into the Tones section of iTunes. Only when you see files in the Tones section will the Ringtones tab appear in your Devices panel, and you'll be able to set Sync options from there.
Hope this helps!
Rory

  • How can I convert the ringtone (m4r file) I made into an mp3 file on itunes?

How can I convert the ringtone (m4r file) that I made into an mp3 file on iTunes? I want to put it on a CD, but I can't figure out how to convert it. I didn't buy it, I made it by converting a YouTube video into an mp3 (I wanted to get the little song in the video for a ringtone.) I'm not sure what to do.

    Hello ed2345,
Thanks for the help, but this is not the problem.
It's hard to describe the problem, but I'll try it again, this time with pictures.
I was left with the following folders in the iTunes Downloads folder.
    http://www.picfront.org/d/7yb3
These TMP Folders have a download.m4a and a Info.plist file.
After moving the audio files in iTunes a bit I get this.
    http://www.picfront.org/d/7yb2
As you can see no other Information for the download.m4a than the length.
That's how the .m4p file looks like
    http://www.picfront.org/d/7yb1
And this is how the same .m4a file currently looks
    http://www.picfront.org/d/7yb0
Like I said, I could edit all these download.m4a files by myself but that would leave some information out.
Note: Sorry, I hope the links do not spam you with annoying ads. I don't get any but I was told that there can be some annoying one.

  • How does one add a personal recorded M4R file to the ring tones in the UK system for iPhone 3GS

How does one add a personal recorded M4R file to the ring tones in the UK system for iPhone 3GS.
I have tried all sorts of ways of adding my personal M4R file but can't find the place (within the UK versions of iTunes} to transfer this file so that I can select it as a ring tone.
I've tried also changing to the US version of iTunes and still can't find a way of doing it, although I have heard that it can be done.

You should be able to just drop it into the library within iTunes.

Check out the video above for a lot good info. The ringtone must be less than 35 seconds.

  • I am having issues with Sidebar files not appearing from within InDesign CS5.5. They show up fine from other Adobe applications. Using OS10.6.8.

I am having issues with Sidebar files not appearing from within InDesign CS5.5. They show up fine from other Adobe applications. Using OS10.6.8.

I would first of all trash the preference file for InDesign, make sure the application is closed then find the prefs in
/Users/USER NAME/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign and just throw the entire folder away, it will generate a new one after you launch InDesign again.
Now launch InDesign and see if the problems are resolved.
If not I would repair your permissions on your hard drive wih disk utility, and if that fails then di-install InDesign and re-install that single application.
Let me know if any of these suggestions work for you
I will be checking my email although you might have to wait for a response as I will be taking a microlight flight over the Victoria Falls tomorrow. Yay can hardly wait.

  • FTP publishing on iWeb to replace existing site - files not appearing.

On iWeb, I used FTP publishing to replace my existing site files, then deleted the original files but not only has the new site files not appeared in my public html folder but I get the message:The requested URL /www.geofflevitus.com was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Founderror was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

but I get the message:The requested URL /www.geofflevitus.com was not found on this server.
That's an indication that the index.html file that is created alongside the site folder by iWeb is missing.
Try publishing your site to a folder on your hard driive and use a 3rd part ftp client like the free  Cyberduck to upload the site folder and the index.html file.
Cyberduck or Transmit will let you view your server folder in a Finder like window where you can see which files are missing.

  • Having troubled with already purchased ringtones not appearing in the ringtone file of itunes not able to sync into iphone4 after installing ios5

the tones show in the music library and also in the purchased section, but in the listing of tones there is nothing.  After sync with the Iphone 4 they do not appear.  So to look I selected on selected tones and it only shows 1 of 15.  How can I fixed this?  either have the ringtones back into "image of a bell" tones so they can appear on the iphone as ringtones and I can select them .

    Anyone?

  • How to create custom Ringtones (m4r files) from Songs in iTunes

    Jakarta, 14 June 2013
On Mac OS : 10.7.5 (Lion)
    On iTunes : 11.0.4
    Difficulty : intermediate - hard
Assuming you know basic Ctrl+Click and Option+Drag...
Full correct steps should be like this :
    1) Select a favourite song in iTunes program to be made into Ringtone...
    2) "Get Info" on that song name and make any 0:30 seconds portion of that song....
(specify "Start" & "Stop" time - under "Options" – to any 30-seconds duration and click OK)
    3) Right-click or Ctrl-Click again on same song name and select "Create AAC Version" to create an .m4a file...
(when done iTunes will create a Chime)
    4) to locate the created .m4a file easily, Ctrl-Click again on same song name and select "Show in Finder" from the pop-up list...
(iTunes will automatically point the folder location of the original .mp3 & the newly created .m4a files... keep this window open for later...)
    5) change the .m4a file to .m4r as suggested...
(rename to whatever you like but you must change the extension to .m4r)
    6) At this point, the m4r(original) file isn't a "Ringtone" file yet... which we'll need to change now...)
(check under "Get Info" > "Kind" :  it's still "Apple MPEG-4 Audio")
...1st by dragging that newly changed .m4r(ori) file to somewhere out of that same default folder it was created by iTunes...
    { this is where most confusions occur, take note here, it gets rather complicated }
    7) Once it's outside of that folder, Double Click the m4r(ori) file and iTunes will play...
(u can stop it immediately...) this is just to let iTunes automatically convert that m4r(ori) file into a new duplicate & places it inside the initial default folder where the original .mp3 file is kept... we kept the window open previously, remember?
    8) Locate that duplicate .m4r(new & true) file, in that same .mp3 folder and now DUPLICATE-Drag (press Option while dragging to get the "+" sign) it to the "TONES" folder in your default apple folder structure. (check under "Get Info", this .m4r(new) File's "Kind" should be "Ringtone")
//to get to that "TONES" Folder : First Locate your iTunes default Music Folder in your Mac --> usually it's in your Default "MUSIC" folder --> Navigate to "iTunes Media"  --> Navigate to "Tones". !! Keep this window open to make the transfer manually !!
    9) Once your duplicate is placed inside the "Tones" folder, double-click on that duplicate .m4r(true) file and let iTunes play, it should automatically place that ringtone file into the "Ringtone" sidebar List in the iTunes program... (check program to see)
Somehow u needed both duplicates : 1 – inside the default initial .mp3 folder & 1 – inside the Tones Folder which we Duplicate+Drag into... and both must be "Ringtone" – Kind... for this to work.
    10) There you go. Now you can Sync / Delete / Add the whole Ringtone contents to your iPhone as you wish.
//Don't forget to set SYNC ON under the iphone  "Tones" tab in your iTunes - iPhone screen... and click big SYNC button at the bottom of iTunes program & wait for the magic.
( Finally you can check inside your iPhone "Sounds" settings and hopefully if all steps done correctly, the bloodycomplicatedringtone selection will be there. Enjoy!

    Hi --
I'm using iTunes 11.0.4 on OSX 10.8.4 and am having a hard time following your instructions to create a ringtone from a snippet of a .mp3 file using iTunes:
    1) Select a favourite song in iTunes program to be made into Ringtone... CHECK!
    2) "Get Info" on that song name and make any 0:30 seconds portion of that song.... CHECK !
    3) Right-click or Ctrl-Click again on same song name and select "Create AAC Version" to create an .m4a file... PROBLEM!
It's when I hit Step 3 that I have a problem -- my "right click menu" at that point looks like this:
There's no option to "create AAC version." Nor does this option appear anywhere in iTunes that I can find.
It really shouldn't be this confusing to create a freaking ringtone. HELP PLEASE!

  • Files not appearing in the File Sharing section

    Hi Everyone,
I created a ringtone on the iPhone, using Ringtone Designer Pro. The problem is, when I connect my phone to the computer, the ringtone doesn't appear under the "Ringtones" icon in the file sharing section under my device in iTunes.
This problem is apparently prevalent with any app that supports file sharing in my case - I created a test document in Pages but that didn't show up either. The apps themselves are listed, but not the files created by them.
So far, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and all other Apple related software, without any improved results.
    iPhone 4 32 GB, iOS 4.3.3;
    iTunes 10.3;
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Connect your device to iTunes, select it in the left-hand colum, select the Apps tab, scroll down to File Sharing, select the app in question, in this case iMovie. Your file will be in the panel to the right.

  • RSC Files Not Appearing in RH Project Manager

My three-writer group has experienced a number of RoboHelp/RoboSource Control problems in the last week.
    First this is our setup:
    1. Two writers with 64-bit Windows 7, and one with 32-bit Win 7. We all have the latest patches and updates.
    2. Our RSC database is on a remote machine that has 32-bit Win XP.
After a time where our group successfully updated our project, I was given a new laptop with Win 7 (I had previously had a 32-bit Win XP desktop), we have now encountered the following problems:
    1. No one can open a RH project from version control. We go through all steps and when we open the XPJ icon it finally crashes after taskbar status messages of something like "Querying version control." It thus crashes at one of the final steps in opening a project from the database.
    2. Even on our remote machine, I cannot open a RH project from version control.
    3. For some unknown period of time, it appears that the three of us have not had our changes uploading to the database because nobody's desktop RH project looks the same. Out of the three of us, I have many--but not all--of my changes up at RSC. I have no idea where my colleagues' changes went.
    4. An unspecified number of files are listed in RSC as well in the File Status pod in RH but they are NOT appearing in the Project Manager pod. If I try to move one image file with the same name into a folder where the original should be, RH displays an error message saying that it already exists there--even though I cannot see it in Project Manager nor interface with it.
I have used RH for 11 years but RSC for just 1-2. I have never seen behavior like this before and it's really brought our entire OLH efforts to a halt. Can anyone tell me what I might do to restore, if not the database, a version of the XPJ that has as many of our changes that DID make it to RSC?
    Thank You,
    Chris

I have amended the title of the thread for the simple reason that I don't do source control. I guess you've just added another reason why.
Sorry but I cannot help you on this one.

  • UME LDAP Data - XML file not appearing

    Hi,
I have configured the readonly ADS with DB for the user authentication. Now I want to restore back to the default datasource configuration (dataSourceConfiguration_database_only.xml). But in the dropdown box in the Configtool >> UME LDAP data under the "Directory Security" tab, I am not able see the config XML file for the DB only. I tried uploading the file, but its saying file already exists. After this I tried deleting the fils from the cluster_data\server\persistent\com.sap.security.core.ume.service and then uplaoded the XML file. Still this is not appearing in the List of Datasources available.
Can you please let me know how shall I revert the Datasouce to DB only?
    Regards,
    Debasis

    Hi,
Go to ConfigTool -> Global Server Configuration -> Services -> com.sap.security.core.ume.service.
You can change the value of ume.persistence.data_source_configuration to dataSourceConfiguration_database_only.xml.
    Regards,
    Siva

  • File not appeared in Application server

    hello gurus
    iam new to SAP
Iam doing excersice MD (Attributes ,text, hierarchies) loading through PROCESS CHAIN, while iam loading data by infopackage under schedule tab i had given file name which is saved in Application server, but in preview it shows File not found (for text) and hierarchy also same problem,so pls clear my thread any one....!

    Hi,
Check  the proper authorizations are there or not?. in SU53. Check you are opening structure file or Data File?. Ask Basis team to check the file from backend using command promt, give path and ask them. You create your own Folder in AL11 and try to save the files in that folder only because it is easy to track and maintenance.
    Thanks
