Ringtones and attatchments

Ok, chances are this has been asked before as i'm a new user of the i-phone, sorry if it has.
How do i get a none i-tunes ringtone onto my phone, I recently downloaded 2 soundbites, 1 for a ringtone and 1 for a message tone, so how do I get them to work as ringtones and message tones.
Secondly, how do I send an attatchment, there is no option given to either bluetooth to another phone or add attatchments to e-mails.
I'm giving it untill tuesday then the phone will go back if it won't do what I want it to do.

You can use Google to find out how to make ringtones for iphone out of most any sound file.
You CANNOT make a custom text sound/message sound. This is not a feature of iphone.
You cannot add attachments (as you cannot store files on iphone)or use bluetooth to transfer files. You can forward an e-mail with attachment. You can e-mail pics.

You would have to create the ringtones.
Google will find several way to do this.
You cannot buy ready made ringtones from your computer.

Synching, ringtones and wiping out my contacts. What is wrong?

I just got a 3GS and imported my contacts from my old phone. Then I made four ringtones and installed them into the Ringtones folder in ITunes. I added them into my phone. Now I made 2 more ringtones but when I tried to install them by dragging from the ringtone folder to my phone ITunes wipes out my contacts. All the ringtones are with extensions M3r as required by ITunes. What am I doing wrong?

The new ringtones have M4r extensions and were easily moved to the Ringtones folder in ITunes. However, when I try to drag them into my IPhone they don't go in and in several cases my contacts are erased by ITunes and I have to go through the process of importing the contacts using the sim card from my old phone. There must be a better way.

When you sync with itunes on your computer make sure you have all the songs that you want to sync selected in the music tab in itunes when you connect your phone. Also with your phone connected click on the tones tab and make sure all the ringtones you want are selected there then sync

I connected my iPhone to my computer and sync'd it hoping that it could download my purchases from the itunes store and then put them back on to my phone but no such luck. When i look at my iphone on my computer and look at tones, they do not show up at all. However, if i click on the "On This iPhone" tab and click on "Tones" the deleted ringtones and altert tones show up...they are just grey'd out and have a dotted circle to the left of them. I also tried to go to the iTunes store on my phone and redownload them and it tells me that i have already purchased this ringtone and asks me if i want to buy it again. I press Cancel. I know when i do that with music it would usually let me redownload the song without buying it again but it wont let me with the ringtones...so how do i get them back? any help would be greatly appreicated

I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.

Anyone know how to create a ringtone and drag it into your iPhone 4s ?

I have downloaded various apps in order to cut a section of music of approimately 36 seconds and have been successful in getting it on to my desktop. I have then taken it into iTunes no problem converted it to aac format AND OR m4r.but it will not drag into my phone tones section. In fact it say on my iTunes (tones) not (ringtones) and its the same when my device is highlighted it says tones also. Can anyone help as i feel that as I have already purchased my music from Apple I should not have to pay again to use a section of music I have paid for already.
Using windows xp OS.

Is this ringtone in the "Tones" section of your iTunes library? Does it play in iTunes? If you answer yes to both of those questions, drag the "Tone" to the actual iPhone icon in the left device pane.

Quick Question About Ringtones and iPhone

I've looked through the discussions and could not find my answer. If you know of a discussion already posted please refer me to that.
Question: After buying a song from iTunes is there a statute of limitations governing the song's ability to create a ringtone?
None of the songs that I bought before my iPhone can be made into ringtones and songs that I bought a few days ago, which initially I could make into a ringtone, but did not, now can no longer be made into a ringtone.
Also, is there any program besides iTunes that can be used to create ringtones from any song?

No there is not a time limit that I know of. The bell has disappeared on mine too. Have you clicked Store>create ringtone?

My iPhone 4S sound won't work. I can't watch any videos or listen to music directly off my phone. It only plays with plugged into to auxiliary cord. Although, the ringtone and my alarm works, I can't change how loud either is.

I have an iPhone 4S. My ringtone and alarm will work, on occasion my texting alert will too. Although, I can't control how loud I want any of these things anymore. Other than that, my slide to unlock sound does not work, neither does the click sounds when texting. I have checked to make sure these are all on and enabled in settings. My phone will not play music and I cannot hear any videos either unless it is plugged into an auxiliary cord and played through a stereo. I dropped it in the snow once, could this be why? Is this a malfunction? Can I fix it or do I get a new phone because of a defect? Thank you!!

Your phone still thinks it is plugged into the stereo. I don't remember how to solve this but perhaps you can search through the forum or maybe one of the members here will jump in on how to switch the playback to speakers.

I purchased a ringtone and an alert on my phone, but following syncing with my mac they're no longer available

I recently upgraded to an iphone 6. I have a macbook pro running Mavericks, and when I connected the phone to my mac for the first time following the purchase of the ringtone and alert tone in question, following the sync they no longer appear under settings on my phone.
Looking at iTunes, they show under "on my device" with a dotted circle next to them...yet they're not available to me when I try and select them on the phone itself.
Is there a setting I need to ensure is checked in order to sync them correctly and have them available to use on my phone? Surely, if purchased under my Apple ID and if the iTunes store account on my mac is linked to my Apple ID all should be well? The didnt cost v much but I object to having to pay again when Ive already done so!

The 'open' button only show after you've installed it on your phone, the cloud symbol imdicates that the app is only in the cloud - if you tap on the cloud icon it should download onto your phone.

Couple of things to check:
You are using Outlook 2003, 2007 or 2010
You have selected to sync Calendars and Contacts with Outlook on the Info tab of your iTunes sync settings
You have selected your Outlook calendar as the default claendar on your iPhone (in Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Calendar)
If all that is correct and iTunes still won't sync correctly, you might have to try reinstalling Outlook. Another option is to enable iCloud syncing with Outlook (see http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/). This requires Outlook 2007 or 2010. If you decide to sync using iCloud but sure to disable contacts and calendar syncing in iTunes on the Info tab of your sync settings. Do not try to sync with both Outlook and iCloud or you will end up with duplicates in your contacts and calendar.
For syncing Ringtones confirm that:
The file is really a ringtone (right-click the file in iTunes, select Get Info, on the Summary tab it should say "Kind: Ringtone".
You have checked each of the ringtones you want to sync
You have checked "Sync only checked songs and videos" on the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings
You have checked Sync Tones on the Tones tab of your iTunes sync settings

Ringtones from another phone will not work on iphone.
You will have to create iphone ringtones. Google will find several ways to do this.
Contacts, calendars,photos, etc should be on your computer. From there you can sync them to iphone.
