Ringtones don't work iOS8

I got the most recent update and all my ringtones, including the factory pre-installed ringtones, don't work or play when called or texted.

Since upgrade my ringtones don't work

ringtones don't work on my iPhone since upgrade. It shows them on my contacts, but I get normal ring when I get a call.

hello, make sure your ringtones are still in your itunes library under the "ringtones" area.
Then if they are in your library, try dragging them again to your phone... especially if you are missing you music too!
That should fix it!
For some reason, some of the music/ringtones ddn't make it on the upgrade of iOS 5.

Ringtones don't work since iOS4 installed

SInce I installed iOS4 (including the upgrade subsequently), ringtones I select for different contacts don't work - all I get is the default.
Anyone seen this? Any solutions?

hello, make sure your ringtones are still in your itunes library under the "ringtones" area.
Then if they are in your library, try dragging them again to your phone... especially if you are missing you music too!
That should fix it!
For some reason, some of the music/ringtones ddn't make it on the upgrade of iOS 5.

My ringtones don't seem to have transferred - I see them in iTunes, but they are not "assigned" to the correct contacts.
When I go to each contact, and look thru the ringtone options, my (purchased) ringtones are not available??

It's important to be able to hear your device ringer when someone's trying to reach you! Let's see how we can resolve your device issue prior to hard resetting the device.
Can you confirm which device you have, Samsung Galaxy S 4 or the Samsung Galaxy S 4 mini? Are you able to hear audio or sound when you play videos, downloaded songs or web based audio on your device? Ringtones don't work

Neither Apple nor custom, never worked since I got my iphone tow weeks ago.
Tried reset, reset and erase all settings still don't work.
I have read different threads but nothing I tried solves the problem.
I guess I need to take it in

Ok, yes then does sound like an issue. Just wanted to clarify all steps were taken.
You can call to make an appt but will tell you, they will ask you to try a restore first. I see you did resets but never mentioned Restore. If you rather not try a restore, at least make sure you sync before taking it in. If you get a new one or if they restore yours at the store, you will be coming home with a default phone. Will have to set settings for syncing to bring back all your contacts, music/video, apps. It would be best NOT to restore from backup as something in the backup may be a corrupted file from the iPhone that caused the issue in the first place. Best to either restore and not choose from backup, or let them restore and give you default phone. Just my opinion.

Ringtone don't work with 4s

When. Changed to the 4S my ringtone doesn't work. It is one I downloaded on my 4. It works if I assign it to each caller but not otherwise? Any
suggestions?

Assigned ringtones don't work when calls come from contacts?

I have set ringtones on some of my contacts and it shows when looking at them, but when a call comes in from one of them it rings on my phone with the main default ringtone.
I set these tones, then hit "save," and then hit "done."
What is missing?

All ringtones I created in GarageBand needed to be replaced w/ newly edited ones, created after all updates were installed. Now they work fine. Probably just a formatting issue. A pain, I know, but at least I have the answer.
This is not the first time an OS update broke my tones.
If you downloaded ringtones from iTunes, try deleting them, then re-downloading.

5530 - some incoming ringtones don't work but othe...

Hi, my wife's just bought a 5530 and is pretty impressed...
but...
Having set up incoming ringtones for the rest of the family, our home phone doesn't trigger the correct ringtone (and the incoming call message just has the number, not the name). Calls from my mobile work correctly. The only difference I can think of is that our home line is on a VirginMedia cable connection. Might that have something to do with it?

Personal Ringtones don't work

Me and my mom both recently purchased iPhones and they worked fine to begin with but when we put the latest software update on them we started having problems with our custom ringtones. These problems were that when sometimes when someone calls it displays there info and pic but it does not play the ringtone that is assigned to them and I have double checked and they are set to the ringtone so I was kind of just looking to see if any one else has been having this problem thanks.

There's been a number of users reporting this. There are some suggestions to try that have worked for some people:
This issue may be due to the way the number is stored on way on your iPhone but comes in using a different format. For instance, if you have the number stored in full international format, but it comes in as a local number, the correct ringtone may not play.
Some people have solved it by doing a reset: Settings > General > Reset > “Reset All Settings”. This will erase your voicemail password and other stored data.
Others have deleted the contact having the problem, recreating it, then reassigning the ringtone.

Custom Ringtones don't Work

Custom ringtones for my contacts are not working. They show up on my iphone as being assigned to the correct contact, but when receiving a call from that contact, it comes through with the default ringtone. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If these are custom ringtones, here's a checklist for you:
1) When you added them, did you check to make sure they had a ".m4r" file extension before you moved them into iTunes?
2) After you moved them, did they show up in your Ringtones section in iTunes, and they showed up in your ringtone selection list?
3) When you selected these ringtones for each contact, did they play?
4) After you assigned them to each contact, were you able to return later, open the contact, and see that it had the ringtone you thought you assigned to it?
5) Do you have duplicate contacts in your Contacts?

The ringtones don't work on text message notification

My ringtones on my IPhone 4 will not work to notify me of text messages. It did and then just stopped. Anybody with this problem?

Yes I did! I held both buttons at the same time more than once & I toggled the hold button. I updated my iTunes and tried restoring. Nothing!

Contact ringtones don't work after changing main ringtone

It's a minor problem -- which is great! -- but I'd like to resolve it if possible.
I assign a ringtone to a contact.
It works.
I change the main ringtone.
When contact calls me, their ringtone doesn't sound. The new main one does.
I have to go into each contact with a separate ringtone and reselect it for it to work again.
Any ideas?

Yes, you can change the default without effecting the personal ringtones.
If you are using an App to download and store ringtones, you should access 'Files' when changing a ringtone rather than the App or the installed ringtones.

Garageband ringtone don't work

I Have an iPhone 5 running ios 7.1.2 and my problem is that i made a custom ringtone from a song and imported it as a ringtone. All was well and when i went to my ringtones, the ringtone i made was available so no problem there but when someone actually calls me, the default ringtone (Opening) plays instead of the ringtone i made and selected. I tried changing the ringtone for individual contacts but that didnt help either. Can someone please help me? Thanks

My ringtones don't work.

When the phone rings, there is no sound. When you go to Settings/Sound and play with ringtones, you can't hear any of them. I admit to going through Application Manager last week and deleting/stopping some apps. I am not sure if that did it or not. Am I looking at a hard reset?

Ringtone doesn't work for sms

I bought on AppStore a ringtone for my sms.
In the setting, I select the ringtone. I do a test with a friend that send me a sms, and the ringtone does'nt work. I choose another ringtone, an Apple one by default on the iPhone, a ringtone that I maid with a song, and it work. I select again the ringtone that I bought, and it doesn't work.
Does anybody knows why the ringtone don't work for the sms?

I re-installed the ringtone on my iPhone by iTunes and it works now.
