Ringtones with songs from CD's

I see only songs I purchased from iTunes have the ringtone option. I have 5000+ songs on my iTunes but most are from CD's I have bought over the last 25 years. I am sure many of these songs have the ringtone option but do I have to purchase the song again to have to then purchase a ringtone or will iTunes not see songs that are available for ringtone then allow me to just purchase the ringtone only.

AFAIK iTunes ringtones are available only for Music Store purchases, and further, only ones that display the little bell symbol. If you wish to create ringtones for songs sourced from CD's you own, then I suggest you try iToner, here:

  • My old PC died but hard drive is still functional. Purchased new PC and downloaded latest iTunes but attempts to transfer folder with songs from old hard disk to new computer failed. Only 20 of approx 300 songs transferred ??

My old PC died but the hard drive is still functional and accessible using a USB extraction device. I purchased a new PC and downloaded the latest iTunes but attempts to transfer the iTunes folder with songs from the old hard drive to my new computer failed. Only 20 of approx 300 songs transferred. All other non music file transfers (WORD, EXCEL, etc) from the old hard drive to the new computer were successful. Is this a file type issue? Any thoughts??  THANKS!

  • ITunes Match says "Matching your music with songs from iTunes store".

iTunes Match says "Matching your music with songs from iTunes store". This will not finish. I cannot put any new songs on iTunes Match. This started today. It was working fine. I have deleted my entire library and I can't even get one song to go through. Thoughts? I've been working with this all day. I have uninstalled iTunes, downgraded iTunes, upgraded iTunes again. Finally, I erased all data...Libraries...playlist data, etc.. I'm extremely frustrated now. I had synced about 4,000 songs since September and it had been working fine. Any help would be great.

I think your right that it is not completely impossible to match any song, although I have tried several songs from several different albums and none have worked so far. The weird thing is is that I have the same Match account on two different computers, and when I match a song on one and it gets stuck, I can see it in my library on the other computer but its greyed out. Not sure what that means. It has worked perfeclty for me since I got it in March, so I'm hoping whatever it is gets sorted out by Apple. If it starts working for any of you please let me know in this discussion!

  • I have 2nd gen iPod nano with songs from iTunes but also burnt from CDs. I now have a new laptop currently without iTunes or any music on. Is there anyway for me to connect the iPod to iTunes on the laptop and not loose all of the songs on it?

Pretty much as it says above. I don't want to loose all my old songs that weren't downloaded and am wondering if there's anyway that I can make sure there safe to connect it to a new laptop with no music on at present.
Any help or advice would be great :-)
    Thanks

Thanks for trying, no it did not help. The article describes getting song from apple devices to PC, not the other way around. I will try ringing tech support tomorrow.
    Thanks anyway.

  • My ipod touch will download songs from itunes, but has issues with songs from my CD's.The songs show up on my ipod

My ipod downloads songs from itunes and plays them just fine. However, when I added my songs from my CD's to it, they downloaded but don't play like they should. They either don't play at all or randomly play in the middle of the song. It has nothing to do with the start time either because they all say that they start at 0.00. I synced the CD's correctlly, so that is not the issue. The songs from the CD's never start playing when I choose them. What can I do to fix this issue?

Have you looked at the discussions on the right side of this page under the heading "More Like This" with your same problem?

  • New ipod need help with songs from old one NEED HELP!!!!

I got a new ipod nano 3rd gen. but it wont let me take all of my old songs from my old ipod(nano 1st gen) and put them on my new one! I dont want to lose my songs so PLEASE HELP!!

When I did that on my old ipod and it said doing so will delete all the songs on it and replace it with my library. When I did it on my new ipod it just put the songs that was already in that playlist back on the ipod, not the songs that i need from the old one.

  • Moving a hard drives with songs from one computer to another

I'm going to have my collection of music on one external hard drive, but I'm streaming from one computer using ATV to my home stereo system, but managing the music on the external drive (adding mostly) from another machine. (The reason is that the streaming machine is much older and slower - works for streaming but my USB ports are crappy and so I want to be able to add music directly to the hard drive from my newer, faster notebook).
Given this scenario, if I add music to the external drive from the newer notebook, when I go to connect it to the streaming machine, what do I have to do each time to update Itunes on that computer?

you could try copying and pasting the songs on to a usb.
plug the usb into the desk top and paste them onto itunes.
idk if it will work but its worth a try. i managed to get songs from my psp to my ipod this way

  • Cannot transfer playlist with songs from iPad 1st gen to laptop Win7 computer

I have a 1st gen iPad with a playlist on it that I want to tranfer to my laptop.  The laptop computer is authorized with Apple. I have the iPad cabled to the laptop using the Apple charging cable with the USB connector plugged into a USB port on the laptop.
I DO NOT want to create a backup of the iPad on the laptop nor do I want to synchronize everything on the iPad with the laptop.  I want ONLY TO transfer the songs in a playlist into iTunes on the laptop.
Is this possible?  If so, what do I need to do.  I have iCloud on the iPad but not on the laptop.
    TIA

The transfer purchases option is only for music purchased from the iTunes store.
Now, as regards the other music, there will be a reluctance to answer this question here because legally the music your friend left on the iPod is not yours to keep.
Apple frowns on posts asking how to share copyrighted material.
And that's why Apple have not provided an option to transfer such music from iPod to computer.

  • How to group artwork with songs from the same album in itunes

After you import a CD, how do you link all the tracks so they fall under the same artwork instead of having the same artwork for every track?

not sure if windows pane is same as OSX, but if open menubar>file>info, click on info tab, you should be able to set track order from there.

  • How can I listen to a song from itunes and play along with my guitar on ipad2/apogee jam?

I am trying to utilze my ipad2 for guitar practce but having a hard time getting my technology under control.  I  have garage band as well as the apogee jam and I can easily hook it in and play, create songs etc.  But what I like to do is play along at the same time with songs from my itunes library or from youtube.  whenever I switch to another app the recording feed from garage band stops until I return to the app.  How do people get around this, if they do?
    Thanks

Not at this time. iTunes Match downloads all music listened to on iOS devices. Period.

  • When I copied my cd collection to my iTunes account, I use the view by CD option in the viewer. How can I get songs from the same album to show nder the same view, instead of making it a separate thing?

How can i fix this problem with songs from the same album, not being organized under the same  when they are from the same CD?

Thank you... just read up on iTunes Match.   That stinks, paying a yearly thing... but I understand everyone has to make a dollar.  I think I'm better off just picking the best songs out of my collection storing them on my computer or iPhone then selling my CD's to some used CD place.   If I ever really want to hear a song there are multiple options and if I want it... the .99 to 1.29 option is always there.
    Thank you for the information

  • Retrieving songs from ipod shuffle... Help!

I have an ipod shuffle that was linked to my home computer's itunes. I loaded it with tunes (some that I bought from itunes). My computer crashed and I had to re-initialize the whole hard drive. (I did not have the songs backed up. Stupid, I know!) Now when I plug my shuffle in, I get the message about it being linked to another itunes library. That library doesn't exist anymore. It says if I relink it to the current itunes (which I want to do) it will erase the songs from my ipod and replace them with songs from the current library. I don't want to erase them because the ipod is the only place that they exist. When I say no it ejects the ipod icon from my desktop. How can I get the songs from my ipod to my new itunes or at least add new songs to the ipod without losing what's already on there?

It always seemed like iPodRip should work, and we played with it a lot, but always seemed to keep rubbing up against the same problem — it only works if the iPod stays mounted and, unless the Shuffle is in Disk mode, it always unmounts as soon give the standard "No" answser to iTunes.
We couldn't figure out a way to get iPodRip to work while iTunes was still in the loop at all, and there was no way to get her Shuffle into Disk mode without .... well, going into iTunes and therefore dumping out all of her songs, which was what we were trying to avoid in the first place.
Working with my own iPS, which I always keep in Disk mode, was just fine and it does seem to be a slick little app. I still have it on my own system but, of course, I haven't needed it for anything else. My friend has been off looking more into this on her own, and I have no idea what her progress in the past week or so has been.
Based on that, assuming we didn't just miss something really obvious, it seemed that it's only partially good on Shuffles. I've never heard of the other one but will take a look and see if I can get that to work any better. In the meantime, if there is some little trick to getting iPodRip to work with a normal (not in Disk mode) iPS I'd be interested in learning about that, too.

Go into your system profiler and tell us your Machine Identifier that says:
iMac x,y (give us the x and y values)
That will tell us whether you are Mavericks compatible or not.
Also tell us how much RAM you have installed.
