Ripped MP3s won't work on my SanDisk MP3 player...

OK, here is a weird situation. I have a SanDisk MP3 player. I hook it up to my iMac, and download songs to it. MP3 Podcasts will play fine. If I rip a CD to MP3, the player will play the songs fine. However, if I take an already ripped AAC and re-rip it to an MP3 in iTunes, the SanDisk won't play it (it sees the file, but skips over it).
Any ideas why this is happening, or how to fix it?
Matthew

Yep, I know, when you buy itunes music, the songs are protected, so burn a cd of the music, and import it into windows media player, or back into itunes in a different format, because when you burn it, it becomes unprotected and you can change the format.

My newly installed burner works fine from i-tunes, except the burned disk won't work in my car CD player. The old burner's work just fine in the car. Please help.

Using my new G5 I have the same problem, which I did not know using my old G4 with an external LaCie burner. The CD-Changer in my car is not able to read audio-cds, also my cd-player in my home hifi-system. The only way to play these audio-cds is (strange...) to put them directly in the main tuner of my car (usually used for the navigation cd), not using the Changer.
Maybe the problem really depends on the quality of the CD-Rs. I have used CD-Rs from Sony (it´s a brand, I think?) and will try Verbatim.

    Hello, Stephen.
Thank you for the question.  You will need to rebuild your iTunes library file in order to open an older version of iTunes.  Below, I have included the article that walks you through this process.  Start with the section labeled Re-creating the iTunes Library file.

I just bought a new ipod and installed the software and now my CD/DVD drive won't work at all. Here is my info: Could someone please help!!!

If you have multiple drives on the same IDE or SCSI bus, these drives may interfere with each other.
Some computers need an update to the ATA or IDE bus driver, or Intel chipset. If iTunes has problems recognizing CDs or hanging or crashing while importing or burning CDs, check the support site for the manufacturer of your computer or motherboard.
    Current user is administrator.

If anyone has a solution for this stupid problem that would be great.
    Thanks

Yes, I suspect that it's the virtual drive emulator software you have there. I know nothing about that software and it doesn't look like the Roxio support page even mentions it, so it's probably software old enough that they're not supporting it anymore.
To uninstall any software, I would start with the "Add and Remove Programs" Control Panel. Uninstall it there, and then use the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility —
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=290301
Download and install that. Run it and find the drive emulator software on the list and remove it there. And reboot and see if that has successfully removed it.
There is a work around that if we just remove the iTunes CD driver, you'll probably get your drive back, but you'll only be able to rip CDs, you won't be able to burn them without the iTunes CD driver installed. You do have some Pinnacle CD burning software installed. Are you currently using that or is that leftover cruft as well?

  • How can I copy my music files to my iPAD. The CDs are currently stored in folders on my PC. Note: Synching via iCLOUD won't work because I have VISTA OS and I need at least Windows 7 or 8.

    Hi ladextr,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  To sync your music to your iPad, first put your music in iTunes as described here:
Adding music and other content to iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1473
Adding content on your computer to iTunes
iTunes helps you add digital audio and video files on your computer directly to your iTunes library. You can add audio files that are in AAC, MP3, WAV, AIFF, Apple Lossless, or Audible.com (.aa) format. If you have unprotected WMA content, iTunes for Windows can convert these files to one of these formats. You can also add video content in QuickTime or MPEG-4 format to iTunes. To learn how to add these files to iTunes follow the steps below.
    Open iTunes
From the File menu, choose one of the following choices:
    MacAdd to Library
    Windows
    Add File to Library
    Add Folder to Library
Navigate to and select the file or folder that you want to add
If iTunes is set to "Copy files to the iTunes Music folder when adding to library," iTunes will copy all content that is added to the iTunes library to the iTunes Music folder. To adjust this setting or change the location of this folder, go to the Advanced tab in iTunes Preferences.
Once that's done, you can sync the music to your iPad by following this article:
iTunes 11 for Windows: Set up syncing for iPod, iPhone, or iPad
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ph12313

  • Mp3 player not working after being embedded

      Hello guys,
I have a player for sound files (Fabricio Zuardi) which is very nice, easy to work with and easy to texturize.
It works with a xml list.
What I did was to load the swf file of the player into my main file of the website (also flash).
The thing is that i can see the titles of the songs but the player won't work.
    Here's the as file.
Can anybody give me a hint?
I tghought it was a location problem at the beginning but i don't think it was. I tried all the possibilities.
       Thank you

then it can be nothing else than the adobe security, since you load the url with full adress
i know it might be a nooby question but when you changed your "local playback security", did you do hard refresh with f5?
which version of flash are you using? because flash 8 didn't have the security settings to "local" and "network" only but also "both local and network", maybe the maker's player works because he exported it in one of the older versions of flash
i think you may also try adding trusted domain
flash.system.Security.allowDomain ("your domain with songs on it")
if you're having problems with it, there i found a hillarious monologue on some forums about it http://www.kirupa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=304748

I'm having all kinds of problems since loading Lion and I really wish I hadn't bought it yet. Even after the software update today, 1. my modem still won't work, 2. Photoshop Elements produces muddy photo prints, 3. View preferences in windows don't hold,  etc.  Anybody at Apple listening?  Anybody else out there having these kinds of problems?

10.7 was horrible unstable so I waited until 10.7.1 and tried it again. Well I have to say that it is still a defective OS. I am reverting to Snow as we speak from my carbon clone copy.. This is really the worst OSX I have ever used. It gives me random Kernel panics for no reasons, unstable airport and hundreds of small issues that are just not necessary. For instance I can't use QuickTime in Lion to trim a videoclip ( the UI goes mad and the trimslider becomes inoperable and hangs the Player window ) while in Snow it is no problem. Itunes gives me crackling sound when the equalizer is turned on, Graphical glitches in Photoshop, games crashing, Preview.app not working with some pdfs, so I need Adobes reader which I never used before.. It is definately not ripe for mass usage. Might 10.7.2 or 10.7.3 fix it, but not yet.
    * and just for the records : the hardware is absoltely ok. Because in Snow it works as it should. ( So many Lion fanbois are talking : "your Ram is defect", defintely NOT. - Lion is defect! ).
    Shame on you Apple.

  • So, now my CD/DVD drive won't work

I made the BIG mistake of upgrading to LION last week.   Up until that moment, EVERYTHING was working fine on my MAC.   I downloaded the software just fine but when I went to install it I received a message saying my hard drive was full.   I'm sure that I had plenty of room left and would have thought that if it was full I would have received that message PRIOR to the download.   Nevertheless, I tried it again.  This time I received a message saying that there was something wrong with my hard drive and it needed repairing.   I did the verification and tried to do the repair but it wouldn't work.
Made an appointment with the Apple Store, (at least I live near a store), and they went through all the diagnostics and said, "There is nothing wrong with your hard drive yet we are unable to install the upgrade ... meaning that my computer will not function.  I had to buy a new hard drive and have them install LION on it.   Before I left the store I told the tech guy that I'd like to turn it on to make sure it would work ... guess what ... it wouldn't.   "I can't understand it", he said, "It was working just fine a few minutes ago."   I had him try it a few more times and then he advised me that they'd have to do it again and for me to come back (again).
So, now I have a new hard drive and a new operating system ... but I had to pay for it in cash, frustration, time, and lost data (my email archive mostly) ... BUT ... now my CD/DVD drive won't work.   I've had to reload software with an external drive.
    What the **** ????
Anyone with some thoughts on this?
(Plus I've had to create a new MAC ID?   Why won't it accept my old account ID?)

Thank you again ... I wasn't aware of that bit of information.
I've never used Toast before but have heard of it.  I just went to their website and watched a quick video.  I'm a tad confused though ... is Toast able to rip movie DVD's before burning a copy?   I used to have some software that could do this but, of course, it's now gone with my new hard drive.

  • Quicktime won't work on Firefox

Quicktime 7.1.5 won't work on Firefox 2.0.0.3. Any ideas as to why?
    Thanks!!

Jesus Christ, how tedious. Can I just revert to a previous Firefox somewhere in the 3.xxx range where everything worked just fine? I am MacBook Pro laptop. Are you sure you're giving me mac instructions and not PC instructions? This looks more like a PC fix than a mac fix. The exact same problem is happening on my girlfriend's mac computers. I may have to go back to Safari which works just fine and plays the MP3s. This is a very bad happenstance if Firefox is so screwy that everyone has to do all the crap listed above just to get an MP3 to play. This is something Firefox should fix instead of having all Firefox users be confronted with such a glitch. Bad Firefox, Bad Firefox!!!!!

  • Please help me! My mp3 player won't download m4a and m4p fi

I'm trying to download some music from my pc onto my mp3 player, but for some reason it won't download m4a or mp4 files. I brought a load of music from iTunes last night, but they are all m4a/mp4 files. I'm new to mp3 players, please help me!

Actually if you purchase music, all MP3 (Protected - DRM and Unprotected) would work on the Zen. It is only m4a files which needs to be Unprotected-AAC. Like I said, Apple just want to protect their own industry but they are now opening up their market now by selling unprotected AAC at a slightly higher price.
There are places like mp3.com which offers music which you can use.
Alternati'vely, you can purchase music CD and use the provided software to extract the music to transfer to your Zen.Message Edited by eddy2099 on 0-03-200807:6 PM

  • SKY FM radio won't work

    Hi there,
SKY FM New Age radio station is unluckily not listed in iTunes. I added it manually to my library, URL:
    http://www.sky.fm/mp3/newage.pls
However, and without a reason, it is not working anymore. I have visited their web, and the URL has not changed. I have also tried CTRL+U, then writing this URL, but it won't work.
Anyone has experienced the same? Do you know where the problem may be?
    Thanks beforehand.
Windows XP Pro   AMD Athlon 3800+ / 1 GB RAM / 330 MB HD

When I try that playlist (double-clicking it after it downloads), it opens four identical entries in iTunes, and not all of them work. If you're also getting multiple entries, try each of them and perhaps, as was the case for me, one of them will work for you.

  • MP3 player that will work on desktop & mobile?

I have tried to use Flash-based MP3 players in a web page, but these won't work on iPads/iPhones/iPods.
How can I make a web page with an MP3 player that will work across the board?
    Thanks!

    With an HTML5 audio player.

whats the format on the external HD?
verify same on another Mac, its likely a dead SATA card inside the external enclosure.
One assumes you arent referring to a 2012 Air with a Toshiba SSD, since the Air contains no hard drives, only a SSD.
2013 Air use Sandisk or Samsung SSD.
