How can I download a dvd on my mac osx 10.7.4?

I am assumming these DVDs are your own personal property and are NOT rented or borrowed DVDs.
Once again, assuming that you own these DVDs, I recommend using Mac DVDRipper Pro to extract the content from your PERSONAL DVDs. I have it installed on my computer and it rips DVD's at maximum speed and uses very little processing power.
You can find more info. about Mac DVDRipper Pro at the following link...

... About converting the extracted video to a format that can be played on an iPod or iPad, I'll let someone else take a jab at that.

  • How do you convert PC-ripped DVDs using a Mac?

Got a question about converting/burning video DVDs from PC to Mac.
So I acquired a rip of a Video DVD, which seems to be PC-made, as the original rip was made up of numerous RAR files (pls-amipys.r00, pls-amipys.r01, etc).
I used a program (UnRarX I think) to convert these to a standard .iso disc, with a VIDEO_TS folder that seemed to play just fine using DVD Player program. I then tried burning that folder to a playable DVD (using the Freeware program Liquid CD; Toast seems to be freezing up on me/not doing so for some reason...).
However, when I tried playing the burned disc in my DVD player, every chapter was jumping/skipping, like someone was using the DVD as a **** turntable (please, no hip-hop references...).
Anyway I've never had this problem with any other .isos/VIDEO_TS folders I've tried burning to DVD, so I know it's got to be an issue with my having had to convert it.
Any (serious) explanations for why this may be?? Any suggestions for any other programs I can use to convert/burn the original rip so it'll play properly?
    Thank you!!

  • Is it possible to rip dvds to my mac to play on my iPad?

I'd like to watch my dvds on my ipad while I'm on an airplane.  Suggestions?

Most commercial DVDs are encrypted. In the U.S, breaking that encryption is illegal. It therefore contravenes the Terms of Use of these forums to discuss methods of breaking that encryption.
Handbrake is a great video conversion program but, on it's own, it won't rip encrypted DVDs.

On your friend's computer with an internet connection, log into the Mac App Store with your ID and download Yosemite from the Purchases section of the Mac App Store. The make a bootable USB install media using
    http://liondiskmaker.com/
Then boot from that on your computer and install
You need an internet connection to install via Recovery mode

  • No Mac OSX DVD in the box of my macbook air

    Hi,
I've just bought in Miami App Store, a new MacBook Air 13" with Lion installed.
I've been looking for a CD, DVD, or USB key containing Mac OSX in the box, but i found nothing. Is that normal?
I need this CD, in cases where my computer needs a resetting. How can i do?
I'm looking forward to your answers.

Your Recovery Partition assumes the role of what users used to use as a separate disk for recovery purposes.
Simply hold down the "option" key, while booting to see the recovery partition alongside your hard drive. Chose the Recovery Partition, if you ever need to re-install Lion.

  • Is it possible to make a CD/DVD cover from exisitng Mac OSX software?

Is it possible to make a CD/DVD cover from existing Mac OSX software?

Depends on what you mean by cover and how elaborate you want it to be.
You could likely create one in TextEdit, but it wouldn't be simple.
I can't think of anything else bundled with the OS that would do that.
There isn't anything "purpose-made" for that task.

  • Opening Sony DVD in Mac OSX 10.6.4

opening Sony DVD in Mac OSX 10.6.4
Have a Sony recorder made DVD+R I want to open on Mac. and edit in iMovie. I can open DVD on PC and on TVs but not Mac. Told I need a plug in but do not know what or how or where to get?? Any ideas? I do not know how to figure out the format or file type of the DVD+R. Thanks

Does it specify what plug in you need?
A good all-around plug in is Perian (you can find it at Perian.org) and it enables QuickTime to play most formats.
Another option for opening video files is VLC player (videolan.org/vlc); it has never failed to play any video file I've thrown at it.
These will get it to play, but you may need to convert the videos to something iMovie can use, namely mp4.
You can try iSquint- it was originally designed for converting files to use on the ipod, but you can also use it to convert files for imovie and a bunch of other formats. It isn't being updated anymore, but it's a good, easy, application.

  • My MBP read DVD/CD but NOT Mac osX installation DVD (tiger or Leopard)

    Hi,
I read a lot of discussion but I didn't find the same problem.
So I have a MBP 15", 2.16Ghz intel core duo, and 2 Go RAM.
I have the 10.5.8 version installed, and I want to erase the disk and do a re-install of 10.5 because I've got some bugs :
    - my MBP starts really slowly (about 15min),
    - it bugs when I suspend the activity (black screen, nothing works... I have to push the "ON" button a longtime to stop the mac, )
    - and other ponctual bugs.
The problem is that my MBP don't read the installation DVD (leopard or even Tiger).
It reads the DVD, I heard that the DVD turns, but after 3/4 try, the MBP ejects the DVD.
But It reads Blank CD, DVD (many zone)... Only the installation DVD is not reading.
    I've already try :
-to begin in safemode (with SHIFT button => it is not ok)
    - to push "C" key" at the restart (it's not ok, the MBP eject before blue screen.. it seems that the MBP is waiting to eject the install DVD to start)
    - to create an other account (not ok)
    - to restart the V/P RAM 5 times (not ok)
So, Is there a solution ? If the Mac can read sometimes CD or movie DVD, that mean that the otpical drive isn't broken...
    I'm waiting your help
(sorry if there's some english mistakes !)

So, I've tried to start in target disc mod with a firewire.... Not lucky, I can read in the "information System" that my firewire is not recognized. It's weird because I can charge my ipod with firewire, but the target mode doesn't work !!!
    message in french :
    Bus FireWire :
Attention : Impossible de répertorier les périphériques FireWire.
(average Translate = impossible to index firewire's peripherals)
Do you have some solutions... I still not re-install MAC OSX... and I haven't an external HD (not in shop too !!)

  • What is the best program to Rip DVD with 5.1 audio for Mac Book

I just purchased a Macbook Pro and want to rip DVD's. I want to retain the 5.1 audio tracks. What is the best program for this? Thanks in advance for your suggestions

Sorry, but if you're referring to commercial and hence copy-protected video DVDs, breaking the copy protection, which would be necessary to copy the videos from the DVD and convert them, is illegal in the US (and other countries), so we're not allowed to discuss it here.   Some DVDs and Blu-Ray movies come with a "digital copy" that allows you to download a copy of the movie for use on computers. You might see if any of the DVDs you have come with such a feature.
If these are home movies that you or someone has burned to DVD and hence are not copy-protected, Handbrake (freeware) is one of the more popular converters. I'm not sure how it handles 5.1 audio, though, if it will at all.
    Regards.
