Ripping dvd's to itunes

Is there any way I can rip dvds to itunes, so that I can put them on my ipod? Please help me.

Not directly, no.
You need to look for third-party applications that can convert DVD audio or video into a format that iTunes can handle.

  • Which software will allow yout to rip dvd's into itunes and playback?

I am interested in ripping my dvd collection into itunes and having ability to playback via apple tv.
    Please advise.

I don't understand the snobbery attached to paying a few dollars for a piece of software when all of us spend thousands on equipment.
All the mentioned software is available for download and tryout, if you like you buy - simple!
For me "DVD to AppleTV Converter" runs incredibly slow on my Quad as it doesn't support multi-processing, so no good. I have no idea of the quality of it's conversions because I binned it as soon as I realised this flaw and wasn't prepared to pay for a product that failed to utilise the power of my machine.
"VisualHub" however is amazing. The quality is great, and it's fast - maxing out all four processors, so I have no problem shelling out a few quid for it.
"Mediafork" is another great utility, and has the advantage of being able to rip straight from a dvd, and the quality is great.

  • Ripped DVDs choppy in iTunes & i Pod, please help

I used the IMToo Platinum DVD Ripper to rip a couple of movies to my hard drive (in MP4 format), then used the "Convert Selection for iPod" command in iTunes to make them playable on my iPod. The audio is fine, but the video is choppy, catching about every second for a quick instant. It stays in sync with the audio overall, but I don't know what's making the video chop. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

  • ITunes Ripped DVD Fustrations

    Hi Guys,
This topic must have been covered before but here is my problem, I have a new MAC Mini, 2TB Time Capsule both networked by Ethernet, 2x ATV's. I have ripped over 300 of my own DVD's to the Time Capsule via a registered version of DVD Fab for MAC, I have run the Rips through Identify to get all the Meta Data, this intern adds the Ripped DVD to my iTunes library. My iTunes Media files are located on the Time Capsule. Everything is the viewed via the ATV's using Home Sharing within iTunes.
All was working great until a few weeks ago when titles started to grey out on the MAC and disappear completely on the ATV's, I can get them back by using the get info option, but why do they keep disappearing? It's not all of the titles, just some of them, I would say about 40-50%, I also leave the MAC and the Time Capsule left on all the time, not sleeping.
This morning I checked my library and again a lot of the titles were not showing up but last night they were all there and working.......it's as if something nips in while I'm asleep and plays around with the library, please help anyone........ps sorry for the long post......

You will have to get the content into a format iTunes can accept. For format information, see:

Handbrake is often recommended for doing the conversion. It works quite well, in my experience, and has the benefit of being free.
    Regards.

  • Can apple tv and roku access same ripped dvd movies

    Had 2 roku's. Like 'em.
Ripped dvd's and stored on external. (about 150 movies)
Just bought the new apple tv
Do I now need to import all of the already ripped dvd's into itunes library in order to watch them on my apple tv
    (thus creating another separate file)
Or perhaps if they were all in itunes library, could roku access them ?
Maybe there's no way around this... but using roku / plex worked well and it was easy to get artwork etc
I did duplicate / import a couple movies into itunes. Get artwork - doesn"t seem to work for dvd ripped movies ?
Nature of the beast i'm guessing.....
    Any advice / direction appreciated.
    Thanks

You should be able to stream the video directly to the apple tv via itunes, without copying and creating another large file.
Just drag the movie files to your itunes.  It will take a few seconds and will "import" the movies.  Once created, you can right click the movie  in itunes and then select get info.  from there, you can give custom information, and even assign an icon or picture for the movie.  Look on line and you should be able to find dvd covers for most movies.
I do this all the time with my movies and also tv shows.

  • Problems Moving Ripped DVD from Itunes to Ipod

Problems Moving Ripped DVD from Itunes to Ipod
I am having a problem transfering ripped DVD's from the Itunes Video folder to the actual Ipod. I thought one of the cool points of the Video Ipod was that you could play DVD's on it. I know I needed to use special software to achieve this since I researched it here. I am using Handbrake Lite since regular Handbrake look too daunting for me. I also used Isquint, since it was recommened here. I used both without changing anything on both of those progams other than click the go button. The DVD's will play in Itunes but it won't allow me to drag them to the Ipod. They are in the Video folder in Itunes. What in the wild, wild world of sports am I do'in wrong? I assume it's something stupid because the device is stellar. Hope someone out there can lend us a hand.
    Kind Regards,
    Julias

I am having a similar problem, and i cant contact ipod 2 ask 4 help - its not explainedo online:
my ipod will only upload video podcasts, no ordinary videos, except for one. they are all the same format (.MOV quicktime), and my i tunes has them all on it and plays them fine there, its just when i drag and drop or insert my videos onto my ipod any other way theydont get uploaded onto my ipod like everything else does, there seems no way that i can get my own videos onto it. only one video that isnt a podcast has ever uploaded, and its the same format as the others!
Any ideas or help would be apprichiated ( i cant spell:P)

  • How can I move my PC (Windows 7) iTunes library (with my cps ripped) to my Mac iTunes library?

Just for my curiosity and knowledge,
    I have a PC (Windows 7) and a Mac (OS X 10.10).
Both of them with the latest version of iTunes.
Both of them with the exact music library (genre, artist, album, etc).
All my music is coming from iTunes Store, so very easy to re download at any time I want with my Apple ID
My PC (Windows 7) computer has a CD/DVD drive. I would like to RIP some music from my CDs and add them to my PC (Windows 7) iTunes library.
Once I finished, how can I move my PC (Windows 7) iTunes library (with my cps ripped) to my Mac iTunes library?
    Thank you so much

If you've downloaded the media idependently to each library so far then thet won't be exactly the same as there are different naming rules for the files and folders in OS X and Windows. See Make a split library portable for some general advice. You can move a portable library between Mac and Windows, but there is a delay opening the library after each change of OS.

  • Ripping Dvd's

I am trying to use my new ipod and i was wondering does Super DVD to Ipod Converter, rip dvds to your computer and then convert them so itunes can use it? Please answer this somebody who know this!!!
      Windows XP

I tries Super DVD-iPod Converter, but with the DVDs I tried (Lion King and Fight Club) it didn't work. As far as I know, these DVDs needed to be Decrypted first. When I tried so, I didn't have sound with Super DVD-iPod Converter.
Cucusoft's converter immediately worked: it ripped the DVD and converted it all at once.
For me it's the best alternative!
Let me suggest you download trials of both programs (just Google both converters and add "free download". You'll find plenty of sites!). When you do so, REMEMBER those are Trial Versions. This implies that texts like "Trial Version" spoil your picture! You have to buy it to remove the texts. However, the trials are good for testing though! (Unless you want to convert complete DVDS in Trial, try to not fully convert the film, but Abort after a couple of minutes. At least Cucusoft's converter provides the opportunity to watch that couple of converted minute!)
    Good luck!

  • Burning DVD's into itunes?

Can you burn DVD's into iTunes and if so how do I go about doing this?
    Thanks

I'm assuming you mean "rip" (which generally refers to taking content off of a CD/DVD and putting it on a hard drive) not "burn" (generally taken to mean putting info from a hard drive onto a CD/DVD). If you are asking about commercial DVDs, sadly, we can't help you. Commercial DVDs are encrypted. In the U.S. breaking that encryption is illegal and we are prohibited by the terms of use of these forums from discussing software or methods. Sorry.
